1. അവകാശി സര്വ്വത്തിന്നും യജമാനന് എങ്കിലും ശിശുവായിരിക്കുന്നേടത്തോളം ദാസനെക്കാള് ഒട്ടും വിശേഷതയുള്ളവനല്ല,

1. NOW WHAT I mean is that as long as the inheritor (heir) is a child and under age, he does not differ from a slave, although he is the master of all the estate;

2. പിതാവു നിശ്ചയിച്ച അവധിയോളം രക്ഷകന്മാര്ക്കും ഗൃഹവിചാരകന്മാര്ക്കും കീഴ്പെട്ടവനത്രേ എന്നു ഞാന് പറയുന്നു.

2. But he is under guardians and administrators or trustees until the date fixed by his father.

3. അതുപോലെ നാമും ശിശുക്കള് ആയിരുന്നപ്പോള് ലോകത്തിന്റെ ആദി പാഠങ്ങളിന് കീഴ് അടിമപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.

3. So we [Jewish Christians] also, when we were minors, were kept like slaves under [the rules of the Hebrew ritual and subject to] the elementary teachings of a system of external observations and regulations.

4. എന്നാല് കാലസമ്പൂര്ണ്ണതവന്നപ്പോള് ദൈവം തന്റെ പുത്രനെ സ്ത്രീയില്നിന്നു ജനിച്ചവനായി ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന് കീഴ് ജനിച്ചവനായി നിയോഗിച്ചയച്ചതു

4. But when the proper time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born subject to [the regulations of] the Law,

5. അവന് ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന് കീഴുള്ളവരെ വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങിട്ടു നാം പുത്രത്വം പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

5. To purchase the freedom of (to ransom, to redeem, to atone for) those who were subject to the Law, that we might be adopted and have sonship conferred upon us [and be recognized as God's sons].

6. നിങ്ങള് മക്കള് ആകകൊണ്ടു അബ്ബാ പിതാവേ എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്ന സ്വപുത്രന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ ദൈവം നമ്മുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളില് അയച്ചു.

6. And because you [really] are [His] sons, God has sent the [Holy] Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, Abba (Father)! Father!

7. അങ്ങനെ നീ ഇനി ദാസനല്ല പുത്രനത്രെ; പുത്രനെങ്കിലോ ദൈവഹിതത്താല് അവകാശിയും ആകുന്നു.

7. Therefore, you are no longer a slave (bond servant) but a son; and if a son, then [it follows that you are] an heir by the aid of God, through Christ.

8. എന്നാല് അന്നു നിങ്ങള് ദൈവത്തെ അറിയാതെ സ്വഭാവത്താല് ദൈവങ്ങളല്ലാത്തവര്ക്കും അടിമപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.

8. But at that previous time, when you had not come to be acquainted with and understand and know the true God, you [Gentiles] were in bondage to gods who by their very nature could not be gods at all [gods that really did not exist].

9. ഇപ്പോഴോ ദൈവത്തെ അറിഞ്ഞും വിശേഷാല് ദൈവം നിങ്ങളെ അറിഞ്ഞുമിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങള് പിന്നെയും ബലഹീനവും ദരിദ്രവുമായ ആദിപാഠങ്ങളിലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞു അവേക്കു പുതുതായി അടിമപ്പെടുവാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ?

9. Now, however, that you have come to be acquainted with and understand and know [the true] God, or rather to be understood and known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and beggarly and worthless elementary things [of all religions before Christ came], whose slaves you once more want to become?

10. നിങ്ങള് ദിവസങ്ങളും മാസങ്ങളും കാലങ്ങളും ആണ്ടുകളും പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നു.

10. You observe [particular] days and months and seasons and years!

11. ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വേണ്ടി അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചതു വെറുതെയായി എന്നു ഞാന് ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു.

11. I am alarmed [about you], lest I have labored among and over you to no purpose and in vain.

12. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞാന് നിങ്ങളേപ്പോലെ ആകയാല് നിങ്ങളും എന്നെപ്പോലെ ആകുവാന് ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങള് എന്നോടു ഒരു അന്യായവും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല.

12. Brethren, I beg of you, become as I am [free from the bondage of Jewish ritualism and ordinances], for I also have become as you are [a Gentile]. You did me no wrong [in the days when I first came to you; do not do it now].

13. ഞാന് ശരീരത്തിലെ ബലഹീനതനിമിത്തം ഒന്നാമതു നിങ്ങളോടു സുവിശേഷം അറിയിപ്പാന് സംഗതിവന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

13. On the contrary, you know that it was on account of a bodily ailment that [I remained and] preached the Gospel to you the first time.

14. എന്റെ ശരീരസംബന്ധമായി നിങ്ങള്ക്കുണ്ടായ പരീക്ഷനിമിത്തം നിങ്ങള് നിന്ദയോ വെറുപ്പോ കാണിക്കാതെ ദൈവദൂതനെപ്പോലെ , ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിനെപ്പോലെ എന്നെ കൈക്കൊള്കയത്രേ ചെയ്തതു.

14. And [yet] although my physical condition was [such] a trial to you, you did not regard it with contempt, or scorn and loathe and reject me; but you received me as an angel of God, [even] as Christ Jesus [Himself]!

15. നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭാഗ്യപ്രശംസ എവിടെ? കഴിയും എങ്കില് നിങ്ങളുടെ കണ്ണു ചൂന്നെടുത്തു എനിക്കു തരുമായിരുന്നു എന്നതിന്നു ഞാന് സാക്ഷി.

15. What has become of that blessed enjoyment and satisfaction and self-congratulation that once was yours [in what I taught you and in your regard for me]? For I bear you witness that you would have torn out your own eyes and have given them to me [to replace mine], if that were possible.

16. അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങളോടു സത്യം പറകകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ശത്രുവായിപ്പോയോ?

16. Have I then become your enemy by telling the truth to you and dealing sincerely with you?

17. അവര് നിങ്ങളെക്കറിച്ചു എരിവു കാണിക്കുന്നതു ഗുണത്തിന്നായിട്ടല്ല; നിങ്ങളും അവരെക്കുറിച്ചു എരിവു കാണിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര് നിങ്ങളെ പുറത്തിട്ടു അടെച്ചുകളവാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കയത്രെ ചെയ്യുന്നതു.

17. These men [the Judaizing teachers] are zealously trying to dazzle you [paying court to you, making much of you], but their purpose is not honorable or worthy or for any good. What they want to do is to isolate you [from us who oppose them], so that they may win you over to their side and get you to court their favor.

18. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള് മാത്രമല്ല എല്ലായ്പോഴും നല്ല കാര്യത്തില് എരിവു കാണിക്കുന്നതു നന്നു.

18. It is always a fine thing [of course] to be zealously sought after [as you are, provided that it is] for a good purpose and done by reason of purity of heart and life, and not just when I am present with you!

19. ക്രിസ്തു നിങ്ങളില് ഉരുവാകുവോളം ഞാന് പിന്നെയും പ്രസവവേദനപ്പെടുന്നവരായ എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ,

19. My little children, for whom I am again suffering birth pangs until Christ is completely and permanently formed (molded) within you,

20. ഇന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് ഇരുന്നു എന്റെ ശബ്ദം മാറ്റുവന് കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു എങ്കില് കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു; ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു വിഷമിക്കുന്നു.

20. Would that I were with you now and could coax you vocally, for I am fearful and perplexed about you!

21. ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന് കീഴിരിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നവരേ, നിങ്ങള് ന്യായപ്രമാണം കേള്ക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

21. Tell me, you who are bent on being under the Law, will you listen to what the Law [really] says?

22. എന്നോടു പറവിന് . അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഒരുവന് ദാസി പ്രസവിച്ചവന് , ഒരുവന് സ്വതന്ത്ര പ്രസവിച്ചവന് എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

22. For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the bondmaid and one by the free woman. [Gen. 16:15; 21:2, 9.]

23. ദാസിയുടെ മകന് ജഡപ്രകാരവും സ്വതന്ത്രയുടെ മകനോ വാഗ്ദത്തത്താലും ജനിച്ചിരുന്നു.

23. But whereas the child of the slave woman was born according to the flesh and had an ordinary birth, the son of the free woman was born in fulfillment of the promise.

24. ഇതു സാദൃശ്യമാകുന്നു. ഈ സ്ത്രീകള് രണ്ടു നിയമങ്ങള് അത്രേ; ഒന്നു സീനായ്മലയില്നിന്നു ഉണ്ടായി അടിമകളെ പ്രസവിക്കുന്നു; അതു ഹാഗര്.

24. Now all this is an allegory; these [two women] represent two covenants. One covenant originated from Mount Sinai [where the Law was given] and bears [children destined] for slavery; this is Hagar.

25. ഹാഗര് എന്നുതു അറബിദേശത്തു സീനായ്മലയെക്കുറിക്കുന്നു. അതു ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ യെരൂശലേമിനോടു ഒക്കുന്നു; അതു തന്റെ മക്കളോടുകൂടെ അടിമയിലല്ലോ ഇരിക്കുന്നതു.

25. Now Hagar is (stands for) Mount Sinai in Arabia and she corresponds to and belongs in the same category with the present Jerusalem, for she is in bondage together with her children.

26. മീതെയുള്ള യെരൂശലേമോ സ്വതന്ത്രയാകുന്നു. അവള് തന്നേ നമ്മുടെ അമ്മ.

26. But the Jerusalem above (the Messianic kingdom of Christ) is free, and she is our mother.

27. “പ്രസവിക്കാത്ത മച്ചിയേ, ആനന്ദിക്ക; നോവുകിട്ടാത്തവളേ, പൊട്ടി ആര്ക്കുംക; ഏകാകിനിയുടെ മക്കള് ഭര്ത്താവുള്ളവളുടെ മക്കളെക്കാള് അധികം” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
യെശയ്യാ 54:1

27. For it is written in the Scriptures, Rejoice, O barren woman, who has not given birth to children; break forth into a joyful shout, you who are not feeling birth pangs, for the desolate woman has many more children than she who has a husband. [Isa. 54:1.]

28. നാമോ സഹോദരന്മാരേ, യിസ്ഹാക്കിനെപ്പോലെ വാഗ്ദത്തത്താല് ജനിച്ച മക്കള് ആകുന്നു.

28. But we, brethren, are children [not by physical descent, as was Ishmael, but] like Isaac, born in virtue of promise.

29. എന്നാല് അന്നു ജഡപ്രകാരം ജനിച്ചവന് ആത്മപ്രകാരം ജനിച്ചവനെ ഉപദ്രവിച്ചതുപോലെ ഇന്നു കാണുന്നു.

29. Yet [just] as at that time the child [of ordinary birth] born according to the flesh despised and persecuted him [who was born remarkably] according to [the promise and the working of] the [Holy] Spirit, so it is now also. [Gen. 21:9.]

30. തിരുവെഴുത്തോ എന്തുപറയുന്നു ദാസിയെയും മകനെയും പുറത്താക്കിക്കളക; ദാസിയുടെ മകന് സ്വതന്ത്രയുടെ മകനോടുകൂടെ അവകാശി ആകയില്ല.

30. But what does the Scripture say? Cast out and send away the slave woman and her son, for never shall the son of the slave woman be heir and share the inheritance with the son of the free woman. [Gen. 21:10.]

31. അങ്ങനെ സഹോദരന്മാരേ, നാം ദാസിയുടെ മക്കളല്ല സ്വതന്ത്രയുടെ മക്കളത്രേ.

31. So, brethren, we [who are born again] are not children of a slave woman [the natural], but of the free [the supernatural].
