1. നുകത്തിന് കീഴില് ദാസന്മാരായിരിക്കുന്നവര് ഒക്കെയും ദൈവനാമവും ഉപദേശവും ദുഷിക്കപ്പെടാതിരിപ്പാന് തങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്മാരെ സകലമാനത്തിന്നും യോഗ്യന്മാര് എന്നു എണ്ണേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

1. Let as many as are slaves under a yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name and teaching of God may not be blasphemed.

2. വിശ്വാസികളായ യജമാനന്മാരുള്ളവര് അവരെ സഹോദരന്മാര് എന്നുവെച്ചു അലക്ഷ്യമാക്കരുതു; തങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടുള്ള ഉപകാരം അനുഭവിക്കുന്നവര് വിശ്വാസികളും പ്രിയരും ആകകൊണ്ടു അവരെ വിശേഷാല് സേവിക്കയത്രേ വേണ്ടതു; ഇതു നീ ഉപദേശിക്കയും പ്രബോധിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്ക.

2. And those having believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brothers, but rather let them serve as slaves, because they are believing and beloved ones, those receiving of the good service in return. Teach and exhort these things.

3. If anyone teaches differently, and does not consent to sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching according to godliness,

4. ദൂഷണം, ദുസ്സംശയം, ദുര്ബ്ബുദ്ധികളും സത്യ ത്യാഗികളുമായ മനുഷ്യരുടെ വ്യര്ത്ഥ്യവാദം എന്നിവ ഉളവാകുന്നു; അവര് ദൈവഭക്തി ആദായസൂത്രം എന്നു വിചാരിക്കുന്നു.

4. he has been puffed up, understanding nothing, but is sick concerning doubts and arguments, out of which comes envy, strife, evil-speakings, evil suspicions,

5. അലംഭാവത്തോടുകൂടിയ ദൈവഭക്തി വലുതായ ആദയം ആകുന്നുതാനും.

5. meddling, of men whose mind has been corrupted and deprived of the truth, supposing gain to be godliness. Withdraw from such persons.

6. ഇഹലോകത്തിലേക്കു നാം ഒന്നും കൊണ്ടുവന്നിട്ടില്ല; ഇവിടെനിന്നു യാതൊന്നും കൊണ്ടുപോകുവാന് കഴിയുന്നതുമല്ല.

6. But godliness with contentment is great gain.

7. ഉണ്മാനും ഉടുപ്പാനും ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് മതി എന്നു നാം വിചാരിക്ക.

7. For we have brought nothing into the world, and it is plain that neither can we carry anything out.

8. ധനികന്മാരാകുവാന് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവര് പരീക്ഷയിലും കണിയിലും കടുങ്ങുകയും മനുഷ്യര് സംഹാരനാശങ്ങളില് മുങ്ങിപോകുവാന് ഇടവരുന്ന മൌഢ്യവും ദോഷകരവുമായ പല മോഹങ്ങള്ക്കും ഇരയായിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

11. But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness.

12. നീ നിഷ്കളങ്കനും നിരപവാദ്യനുമായി ഈ കല്പന നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുവിന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതവരെ പ്രമാണിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം

12. Fight the good fight of faith. Lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and confessed the good confession before many witnesses.

13. എന്നിങ്ങനെ സകലത്തെയും ജീവിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തെയും പൊന്തിയൊസ് പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നല്ല സ്വീകാരം കഴിച്ച ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിനെയും സാക്ഷിവെച്ചു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു ആജ്ഞാപിക്കുന്നു.

13. I charge you before God, He making all things alive, and Christ Jesus, the One witnessing the good confession to Pontius Pilate,

14. that you keep the commandment spotless, blameless, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
