1. നുകത്തിന് കീഴില് ദാസന്മാരായിരിക്കുന്നവര് ഒക്കെയും ദൈവനാമവും ഉപദേശവും ദുഷിക്കപ്പെടാതിരിപ്പാന് തങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്മാരെ സകലമാനത്തിന്നും യോഗ്യന്മാര് എന്നു എണ്ണേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

1. Let as many bondservants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and His doctrine may not be blasphemed.

2. വിശ്വാസികളായ യജമാനന്മാരുള്ളവര് അവരെ സഹോദരന്മാര് എന്നുവെച്ചു അലക്ഷ്യമാക്കരുതു; തങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടുള്ള ഉപകാരം അനുഭവിക്കുന്നവര് വിശ്വാസികളും പ്രിയരും ആകകൊണ്ടു അവരെ വിശേഷാല് സേവിക്കയത്രേ വേണ്ടതു; ഇതു നീ ഉപദേശിക്കയും പ്രബോധിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്ക.

2. And those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brethren, but rather serve them because those who are benefited are believers and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.

3. If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to sound words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness,

4. ദൂഷണം, ദുസ്സംശയം, ദുര്ബ്ബുദ്ധികളും സത്യ ത്യാഗികളുമായ മനുഷ്യരുടെ വ്യര്ത്ഥ്യവാദം എന്നിവ ഉളവാകുന്നു; അവര് ദൈവഭക്തി ആദായസൂത്രം എന്നു വിചാരിക്കുന്നു.

4. he is proud, understanding nothing, but is sick with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, slander, evil conjecture,

5. അലംഭാവത്തോടുകൂടിയ ദൈവഭക്തി വലുതായ ആദയം ആകുന്നുതാനും.

5. useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself.

6. ഇഹലോകത്തിലേക്കു നാം ഒന്നും കൊണ്ടുവന്നിട്ടില്ല; ഇവിടെനിന്നു യാതൊന്നും കൊണ്ടുപോകുവാന് കഴിയുന്നതുമല്ല.

6. But godliness with contentment is great gain.

7. ഉണ്മാനും ഉടുപ്പാനും ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് മതി എന്നു നാം വിചാരിക്ക.

7. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is evident that we can carry nothing out.

8. ധനികന്മാരാകുവാന് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവര് പരീക്ഷയിലും കണിയിലും കടുങ്ങുകയും മനുഷ്യര് സംഹാരനാശങ്ങളില് മുങ്ങിപോകുവാന് ഇടവരുന്ന മൌഢ്യവും ദോഷകരവുമായ പല മോഹങ്ങള്ക്കും ഇരയായിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

9. But those who purpose to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which plunge people into ruin and destruction.

10. For the love of money is a root of all evils, for which some being greedy, have strayed from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

11. വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ നല്ല പോര് പൊരുതുക; നിത്യജീവനെ പിടിച്ചുകൊള്ക; അതിന്നായി നീ വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടു അനേകം സാക്ഷികളുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നല്ല സ്വീകാരം കഴിച്ചുവല്ലോ.

11. But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

12. നീ നിഷ്കളങ്കനും നിരപവാദ്യനുമായി ഈ കല്പന നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുവിന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതവരെ പ്രമാണിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം

12. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

13. എന്നിങ്ങനെ സകലത്തെയും ജീവിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തെയും പൊന്തിയൊസ് പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നല്ല സ്വീകാരം കഴിച്ച ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിനെയും സാക്ഷിവെച്ചു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു ആജ്ഞാപിക്കുന്നു.

13. I charge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate,

14. that you keep the commandment without spot, blameless until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

19. storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

20. O Timothy, guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and empty babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge;
