1. അതുകൊണ്ടു നിര്ജ്ജീവപ്രവൃത്തികളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള മാനസാന്തരം, ദൈവത്തിങ്കലെ വിശ്വാസം, സ്നാനങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഉപദേശം, കൈവെപ്പു, മരിച്ചവരുടെ പുനരുത്ഥാനം,

1. Therefore leaving the doctrine of the first principles of Christ, let us press on to perfection; not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

2. നിത്യശിക്ഷാവിധി എന്നിങ്ങനെയുള്ള അടിസ്ഥാനം പിന്നെയും ഇടാതെ നാം ക്രിസ്തുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ആദ്യവചനം വിട്ടു പരിജ്ഞാനപൂര്ത്തി പ്രാപിപ്പാന് ശ്രമിക്കുക.

2. of teaching of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

3. ദൈവം അനുവദിക്കുന്ന പക്ഷം നാം അതു ചെയ്യും.

3. And this we will do, if God permits.

4. ഒരിക്കല് പ്രകാശനം ലഭിച്ചിട്ടു സ്വര്ഗ്ഗീയദാനം ആസ്വദിക്കയും പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനെ പ്രാപിക്കയും

4. For as concerning those who were once enlightened and tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made sharers of the Holy Spirit,

5. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നല്ല വചനവും വരുവാനുള്ള ലോകത്തിന്റെ ശക്തിയും ആസ്വദിക്കയും ചെയ്തവര് പിന്മാറിപ്പോയാല്

5. and tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the age to come,

6. തങ്ങള്ക്കു തന്നേ ദൈവപുത്രനെ വീണ്ടും ക്രൂശിക്കുന്നവരും അവന്നു ലോകാപവാദം വരുത്തുന്നവരും ആകകൊണ്ടു അവരെ പിന്നെയും മാനസാന്തരത്തിലേക്കു പുതുക്കുവാന് കഴിവുള്ളതല്ല.

6. and [then] fell away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

7. പലപ്പോഴും പെയ്ത മഴ കുടിച്ചിട്ടു ഭൂമി കൃഷി ചെയ്യുന്നവര്ക്കും ഹിതമായ സസ്യാദികളെ വിളയിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹം പ്രാപിക്കുന്നു.

7. For the land which has drank the rain that comes often on it, and brings forth herbs meet for them for whose sake it is also tilled, receives blessing from God:

8. മുള്ളും ഞെരിഞ്ഞിലും മുളെപ്പിച്ചാലോ അതു കൊള്ളരുതാത്തതും ശാപത്തിന്നു അടുത്തതും ആകുന്നു; ചുട്ടുകളക അത്രേ അതിന്റെ അവസാനം.

8. but if it bears thorns and thistles, it is disapproved and near to a curse; whose end is to be burned.

9. എന്നാല് പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, ഞങ്ങള് ഇങ്ങനെ സംസാരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിലും നിങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു ശുഭമേറിയതും രക്ഷെക്കു ഉതകുന്നതും വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.

9. But we are persuaded of you+, beloved, better things that follow salvation, though we thus speak:

10. ദൈവം നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവൃത്തിയും വിശുദ്ധന്മാരെ ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചതിനാലും ശുശ്രൂഷിക്കുന്നതിനാലും തന്റെ നാമത്തോടു കാണിച്ച സ്നേഹവും മറന്നുകളവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അനീതിയുള്ളവനല്ല.

10. for God is not unrighteous to forget your+ work and the love which you+ showed toward his name, in that you+ served the saints, and still do serve.

11. എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് ഔരോരുത്തന് പ്രത്യാശയുടെ പൂര്ണ്ണനിശ്ചയം പ്രാപിപ്പാന് അവസാനത്തോളം ഒരുപോലെ ഉത്സാഹം കാണിക്കേണമെന്നു ഞങ്ങള് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.

11. And we desire that each of you+ may show the same diligence to the fullness of hope even to the end:

12. അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങള് മന്ദതയുള്ളവരാകാതെ വിശ്വാസത്താലും ദീര്ഘക്ഷമയാലും വാഗ്ദത്തങ്ങളെ അവകാശമാക്കുന്നവരുടെ അനുകാരികളായിത്തീരും.

12. that you+ are not sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

13. For when God made promise to Abraham, since he could swear by none greater, he swore by himself,

14. “ഞാന് നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കയും നിന്നെ വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യും” എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

14. saying, Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.

15. And thus, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

16. തങ്ങളെക്കാള് വലിയവനെക്കൊണ്ടല്ലോ മനുഷ്യര് സത്യം ചെയ്യുന്നതു; ആണ അവര്ക്കും ഉറപ്പിന്നായി സകലവാദത്തിന്റെയും തീര്ച്ചയാകുന്നു.

16. For men swear by the greater: and in every dispute of theirs the oath is final for confirmation.

17. അതുകൊണ്ടു ദൈവം വാഗ്ദത്തത്തിന്റെ അവകാശികള്ക്കു തന്റെ ആലോചന മാറാത്തതു എന്നു അധികം സ്പഷ്ടമായി കാണിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിച്ചു ഒരു ആണയാലും ഉറപ്പുകൊടുത്തു.

17. In which God, being minded to show more abundantly to the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, interposed with an oath;

18. അങ്ങനെ നമ്മുടെ മുമ്പില് വെച്ചിട്ടുള്ള പ്രത്യാശ പിടിച്ചുകൊള്വാന് ശരണത്തിന്നായി ഔടിവന്ന നാം മാറിപ്പോകാത്തതും ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഭോഷകുപറവാന് കഴിയാത്തതുമായ രണ്ടു കാര്യങ്ങളാല് ശക്തിയുള്ള പ്രബോധനം പ്രാപിപ്പാന് ഇടവരുന്നു.

18. that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us:

19. which we have as an anchor of the soul; both sure and steadfast; and entering into that which is inside the veil;
