1. കനാന് ദേശത്തു യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള്ക്കു അവകാശമായി ലഭിച്ച ദേശങ്ങള് ആവിതുപുരോഹിതനായ എലെയാസാരും നൂന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവയും യിസ്രായേല്ഗോത്രപിതാക്കന്മാരില് തലവന്മാരും ഇവ അവര്ക്കും വിഭാഗിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

1. And these are the countries which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for inheritance to them.

2. യഹോവ മോശെമുഖാന്തരം കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഒമ്പതര ഗോത്രങ്ങള്ക്കും ചീട്ടിട്ടായിരുന്നു അവകാശം ഭാഗിച്ചുകൊടുത്തതു.

2. By lot was their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half tribe.

3. രണ്ടര ഗോത്രങ്ങള്ക്കു മോശെ യോര്ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ അവകാശം കൊടുത്തിരുന്നു; ലേവ്യര്ക്കോ അവരുടെ ഇടയില് ഒരു അവകാശവും കൊടുത്തില്ല.

3. For Moses had given the inheritance of two tribes and an half tribe on the other side Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave none inheritance among them.

4. യോസേഫിന്റെ മക്കള് മനശ്ശെ, എഫ്രയീം എന്നു രണ്ടു ഗോത്രം ആയിരുന്നു. ലേവ്യര്ക്കും പാര്പ്പാന് പട്ടണങ്ങളും അവരുടെ കന്നുകാലികള്ക്കും മൃഗസമ്പത്തിന്നും വേണ്ടി പുല്പുറങ്ങളും അല്ലാതെ ദേശത്തില് ഔഹരിയൊന്നും കൊടുത്തില്ല.

4. For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.

5. യഹോവ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ തന്നേ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് അനുസരിച്ചു ദേശം വിഭാഗിച്ചു.

5. As the LORD commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did, and they divided the land.

6. അനന്തരം യെഹൂദാമക്കള് ഗില്ഗാലില് യോശുവയുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു; കെനിസ്യനായ യെഫുന്നെയുടെ മകന് കാലേബ് അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുയഹോവ എന്നെയും നിന്നെയും കുറിച്ചു ദൈവപുരുഷനായ മോശെയോടു കാദേശ് ബര്ന്നേയയില്വെച്ചു പറഞ്ഞ കാര്യം നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

6. Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadeshbarnea.

7. യഹോവയുടെ ദാസനായ മോശെ കാദേശ്ബര്ന്നേയയില്നിന്നു ദേശത്തെ ഒറ്റുനോക്കുവാന് എന്നെ അയച്ചപ്പോള് എനിക്കു നാല്പതു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; ഞാന് വന്നു എന്റെ മനോബോധപ്രകാരം അവനോടു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.

7. Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.

8. എന്നോടുകൂടെ പോന്നിരുന്ന സഹോദരന്മാര് ജനത്തിന്റെ ഹൃദയം ഉരുകുമാറാക്കി; ഞാനോ എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പൂര്ണ്ണമായി പറ്റിനിന്നു.

8. Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.

9. നീ എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പൂര്ണ്ണമായി പറ്റിനിന്നതുകൊണ്ടു നീ കാല്വെച്ച ദേശം നിനക്കും നിന്റെ മക്കള്ക്കും എന്നേക്കും അവകാശമായിരിക്കും എന്നു മോശെ അന്നു സത്യംചെയ്തു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.

10. മരുഭൂമിയില് സഞ്ചരിച്ച കാലത്തു യഹോവ മോശെയോടു ഈ വാക്കു കല്പിച്ചതു മുതല് ഈ നാല്പത്തഞ്ചു സംവത്സരത്തോളവും എന്നെ ഇതാ, താന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്നതു പോലെ ജീവനോടെ വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇപ്പോള് എനിക്കു എണ്പത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായി.

10. And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.

11. മോശെ എന്നെ അയച്ച നാളിലെപ്പോലെ ഇന്നും എനിക്കു ആരോഗ്യം ഉണ്ടു; പടവെട്ടുവാനും പോകയും വരികയും ചെയ്വാനും എന്റെ ആരോഗ്യം അന്നത്തെപ്പോലെതന്നെ ഇന്നും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

11. As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.

12. ആകയാല് യഹോവ അന്നു കല്പിച്ച ഈ മല ഇപ്പോള് എനിക്കു തരിക; അനാക്യര് അവിടെ ഉണ്ടെന്നും പട്ടണങ്ങള് വലിപ്പവും ഉറപ്പും ഉള്ളവ എന്നും നീ അന്നു കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ; യഹോവ എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് താന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഞാന് അവരെ ഔടിച്ചുകളയും.

12. Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.

13. അപ്പോള് യോശുവ അവനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു; ഹെബ്രോന് മല യെഫുന്നെയുടെ മകനായ കാലേബിന്നു അവകാശമായി കൊടുത്തു.

13. And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.

14. അങ്ങനെ ഹെബ്രോന് ഇന്നുവരെ കെനിസ്യനായ യെഫുന്നെയുടെ മകന് കാലേബിന്നു അവകാശമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ പൂര്ണ്ണമായി പറ്റിനിന്നതുകൊണ്ടു തന്നേ.

14. Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.

15. ഹെബ്രോന്നു പണ്ടു കിര്യ്യത്ത്-അര്ബ്ബാ എന്നു പേരായിരുന്നു; അര്ബ്ബാ എന്നവന് അനാക്യരില് വെച്ചു അതിമഹാന് ആയിരുന്നു. അങ്ങനെ യുദ്ധം തീര്ന്നു ദേശത്തിന്നു സ്വസ്ഥത വന്നു.

15. And the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba; which Arba was a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.
