1. യേശുവിനെ ക്രിസ്തു എന്നു വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന് എല്ലാം ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നു ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ജനിപ്പിച്ചവനെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവന് എല്ലാം അവനില്നിന്നു ജനിച്ചവനെയും സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു.

1. Whosoever believeth that, Jesus, is the Christ, of God, hath been born: and, whosoever loveth him that begat, loveth him that hath been begotten of him.

2. നാം ദൈവത്തെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ അനുസരിച്ചു നടക്കുമ്പോള് ദൈവമക്കളെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അതിനാല് അറിയാം.

2. Hereby, perceive we, that we love the children of God, as soon as, God, we love, and, his commandments, we are doing.

3. അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നതല്ലോ ദൈവത്തോടുള്ള സ്നേഹം; അവന്റെ കല്പനകള് ഭാരമുള്ളവയല്ല.
ആവർത്തനം 30:11

3. For, this is the love of God that, his commandments, we be keeping, and, his commandments, are not burdensome;

4. ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നു ജനിച്ചതൊക്കെയും ലോകത്തെ ജയിക്കുന്നു; ലോകത്തെ ജയിച്ച ജയമോ നമ്മുടെ വിശ്വാസം തന്നേ.

4. Because, whatsoever hath been born of God, overcometh the world; and, this, is the victory that hath overcome the world our faith.

5. യേശു ദൈവപുത്രന് എന്നു വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന് അല്ലാതെ ആരാകുന്നു ലോകത്തെ ജയിക്കുന്നവന് ?

5. And who is he that overcometh the world, save he that believeth that, Jesus, is the Son of God?

6. ജലത്താലും രക്തത്താലും വന്നവന് ഇവന് ആകുന്നുയേശുക്രിസ്തു തന്നേ; ജലത്താല് മാത്രമല്ല, ജലത്താലും രക്തത്താലും തന്നേ.

6. This, is he that came through means of water and blood, Jesus Christ: not, by the water, only, but, by the water and by the blood, and, the Spirit, it is, that is bearing witness, because, the Spirit, is the truth.

7. ആത്മാവും സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്നു; ആത്മാവു സത്യമല്ലോ.

7. Because, three, are they who are bearing witness

8. സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്നവര് മൂവര് ഉണ്ടുആത്മാവു, ജലം, രക്തം; ഈ മൂന്നിന്റെയും സാക്ഷ്യം ഒന്നുതന്നേ.

8. The Spirit, and the Water, and the Blood; and, the three, are, witnesses , unto one thing.

9. നാം മനുഷ്യരുടെ സാക്ഷ്യം കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നു എങ്കില് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യം അതിലും വലുതാകുന്നു. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യമോ അവന് തന്റെ പുത്രനെക്കുറിച്ചു സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു തന്നേ.

9. If, the witness of men, we receive, the witness of God, is, greater. Because, this, is the witness of God in that he hath borne witness concerning his Son,

10. ദൈവപുത്രനില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന്നു ഉള്ളില് ആ സാക്ഷ്യം ഉണ്ടു. ദൈവത്തെ വിശ്വസിക്കാത്തവന് ദൈവം തന്റെ പുത്രനെക്കുറിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞ സാക്ഷ്യം വിശ്വസിക്കായ്കയാല് അവനെ അസത്യവാദിയാക്കുന്നു.

10. He that believeth on the Son of God, hath the witness, within himself: He that doth not believe God, false, hath made him, because he hath not believed on the witness which, God, hath witnessed, concerning his Son

11. ആ സാക്ഷ്യമോ ദൈവം നമുക്കു നിത്യജീവന് തന്നു; ആ ജീവന് അവന്റെ പുത്രനില് ഉണ്ടു എന്നുള്ളതു തന്നേ.

11. And, this, is the witness: that, life age-abiding, hath God given unto us, and, this life, is, in his Son:

12. പുത്രനുള്ളവന്നു ജീവന് ഉണ്ടു; ദൈവപുത്രനില്ലാത്തവന്നു ജീവന് ഇല്ല.

12. He that hath the Son, hath, the life, he that hath not the Son of God, hath not, the life.

13. ദൈവപുത്രന്റെ നാമത്തില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഞാന് ഇതു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു നിത്യജീവന് ഉണ്ടെന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

13. These things, have I written unto you in order that ye may know that ye have, Life Age-abiding unto you who believe on the name of the Son of God.

14. അവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടപ്രകാരം നാം എന്തെങ്കിലും അപേക്ഷിച്ചാല് അവന് നമ്മുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേള്ക്കുന്നു എന്നുള്ളതു നമുക്കു അവനോടുള്ള ധൈര്യ്യം ആകുന്നു.

14. And, this, is the boldness which we have towards him: that, if, anything, we ask, according to his will, He doth hearken unto us.

15. നാം എന്തു അപേക്ഷിച്ചാലും അവന് നമ്മുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേള്ക്കുന്നു എന്നറിയുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവനോടു കഴിച്ച അപേക്ഷ നമുക്കു ലഭിച്ചു എന്നും അറിയുന്നു.

15. And, if we know that he doth hearken unto us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the things asked, which we have asked of him,

16. സഹോദരന് മരണത്തിന്നല്ലാത്ത പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നതു ആരെങ്കിലും കണ്ടാല് അപേക്ഷിക്കാം; ദൈവം അവന്നു ജീവനെ കൊടുക്കും; മരണത്തിന്നല്ലാത്ത പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നവകൂ തന്നേ; മരണത്തിന്നുള്ള പാപം ഉണ്ടു; അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു അപേക്ഷിക്കേണം എന്നു ഞാന് പറയുന്നില്ല.

16. If one should see his brother committing a sin, not unto death, he shall ask, and He will grant unto him life, for them who are sinning, not unto death. There, is, a sin, unto death: not concerning that, am I saying, that he should make request.

17. ഏതു അനീതിയും പാപം ആകുന്നു; മരണത്തിന്നല്ലാത്ത പാപം ഉണ്ടു താനും.

17. All unrighteousness, is, sin, and there, is, a sin, not unto death.

18. ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നു ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവന് ആരും പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല എന്നും നാം അറിയുന്നു; ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നു ജനിച്ചവന് തന്നെത്താന് സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന് അവനെ തൊടുന്നതുമില്ല.

18. We know that, whosoever hath been born of God, is not committing sin, Nay, he that hath been born of God, He keepeth him, and, the wicked one, doth not touch him.

19. നാം ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നുള്ളവര് എന്നു നാം അറിയുന്നു. സര്വ്വലോകവും ദുഷ്ടന്റെ അധീനതയില് കിടക്കുന്നു.

19. We know that, of God, are we; and, the whole world, in the wicked one, is lying.

20. ദൈവപുത്രന് വന്നു എന്നും സത്യദൈവത്തെ അറിവാന് നമുക്കു വിവേകം തന്നു എന്നും നാം അറിയുന്നു; നാം സത്യദൈവത്തില് അവന്റെ പുത്രനായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവില് തന്നേ ആകുന്നു. അവന് സത്യദൈവവും നിത്യജീവനും ആകുന്നു.

20. We know, moreover, that, the Son of God, hath come, and hath given us insight, so that we are getting to understand, him that is Real, and we are in him that is Real, in his Son Jesus Christ. This, is the Real God, and life age-abiding.

21. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളോടു അകന്നു സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് .

21. Dear children! Guard yourselves from idols.
