1. ആ കാലത്തു ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് യിസ്രായേലിനോടു പടവെട്ടേണ്ടതിന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ സേനകളെ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി; അപ്പോള് ആഖീശ് ദാവീദിനോടുനീയും നിന്റെ ആളുകളും എന്നോടുകൂടെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോരേണം എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞുകൊള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. Later, the Philistines gathered their armies to fight against Israel. Achish said to David, 'You understand that you and your men must join my army.'

2. എന്നാറെ ദാവീദ് ആഖീശിനോടുഅടിയന് എന്തു ചെയ്യും എന്നു നീ കണ്ടറിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ആഖീശ് ദാവീദിനോടുഅതു കെണ്ടു ഞാന് നിന്നെ എപ്പോഴും എന്റെ മെയ്ക്കാവലാക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. David answered, 'You will see for yourself what I, your servant, can do!' Achish said, 'Fine, I'll make you my permanent bodyguard.'

3. Now Samuel was dead, and all the Israelites had shown their sadness for him. They had buried Samuel in his hometown of Ramah. And Saul had forced out the mediums and fortune-tellers from the land.

4. എന്നാല് ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി ശൂനേമില് പാളയം ഇറങ്ങി; ശൌലും എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനെയും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി ഗില്ബോവയില് പാളയം ഇറങ്ങി.

4. The Philistines came together and made camp at Shunem. Saul gathered all the Israelites and made camp at Gilboa.

5. ശൌല് ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ സൈന്യത്തെ കണ്ടു ഭയപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം ഏറ്റവും വിറെച്ചു.

5. When he saw the Philistine army, he was afraid, and his heart pounded with fear.

6. ശൌല് യഹോവയോടു ചോദിച്ചാറെ യഹോവ അവനോടു സ്വപ്നംകൊണ്ടോ ഊറീംകൊണ്ടോ പ്രവാചകന്മാരെക്കൊണ്ടോ ഉത്തരം അരുളിയില്ല.

6. He prayed to the Lord, but the Lord did not answer him through dreams, Urim, or prophets.

7. അപ്പോള് ശൌല് തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടുഎനിക്കു ഒരു വെളിച്ചപ്പാടത്തിയെ അന്വേഷിപ്പിന് ; ഞാന് അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു ചോദിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാര് അവനോടുഏന് -ദോരില് ഒരു വെളിച്ചപ്പാടത്തി ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. Then Saul said to his servants, 'Find me a woman who is a medium so I may go and ask her what will happen.' His servants answered, 'There is a medium in Endor.'

8. ശൌല് വേഷംമാറി വേറെ വസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു രണ്ടാളെയും കൂട്ടി പോയി രാത്രിയില് ആ സ്ത്രീയുടെ അടുക്കല് എത്തിവെളിച്ചപ്പാടാത്മാവുകൊണ്ടു നീ എനിക്കായി പ്രശ്നം നോക്കുകയും ഞാന് പറയുന്നവനെ വരുത്തിത്തരികയും ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. Then Saul put on other clothes to disguise himself, and at night he and two of his men went to see the woman. Saul said to her, 'Talk to a spirit for me. Bring up the person I name.'

9. സ്ത്രീ അവനോടുശൌല് ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ളതു, അവന് വെളിച്ചപ്പാടന്മാരെയും മന്ത്രവാദികളെയും ദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഛേദിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുതന്നേ നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ; എന്നെ കൊല്ലിപ്പാന് നീ എന്റെ ജീവന്നു കണി വെക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. But the woman said to him, 'Surely you know what Saul has done. He has forced the mediums and fortune-tellers from the land. You are trying to trap me and get me killed.'

10. യഹോവയാണ ഈ കാര്യംകൊണ്ടു നിനക്കു ഒരു ദോഷവും ഭവിക്കയില്ല എന്നു ശൌല് യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില് അവളോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. Saul made a promise to the woman in the name of the Lord. He said, 'As surely as the Lord lives, you won't be punished for this.'

11. ഞാന് ആരെ വരുത്തിത്തരേണ്ടു എന്നു സ്ത്രീ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുശമൂവേലിനെ വരുത്തിത്തരേണം എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

11. The woman asked, 'Whom do you want me to bring up?' He answered, 'Bring up Samuel.'

12. സ്ത്രീ ശമൂവേലിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള് ഉച്ചത്തില് നിലവിളിച്ചു, ശൌലിനോടുനീ എന്നെ ചതിച്ചതു എന്തു? നീ ശൌല് ആകുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. When the woman saw Samuel, she screamed. She said, 'Why have you tricked me? You are Saul!'

13. രാജാവു അവളോടുഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നീ കാണുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഒരു ദേവന് ഭൂമിയില്നിന്നു കയറിവരുന്നതു ഞാന് കാണുന്നു എന്നു സ്ത്രീ ശൌലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. The king said to the woman, 'Don't be afraid! What do you see?' The woman said, 'I see a spirit coming up out of the ground.'

14. അവന് അവളോടുഅവന്റെ രൂപം എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവള്ഒരു വൃദ്ധന് കയറിവരുന്നു; അവന് ഒരു അങ്കിയും ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാറെ അതു ശമൂവേല് എന്നറിഞ്ഞു ശൌല് സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

14. Saul asked, 'What does he look like?' The woman answered, 'An old man wearing a coat is coming up.' Then Saul knew it was Samuel, and he bowed facedown on the ground.

15. ശമൂവേല് ശൌലിനോടുനീ എന്നെ വിളിച്ചതിനാല് എന്റെ സ്വസ്ഥതെക്കു ഭംഗം വരുത്തിയതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു; അതിന്നു ശൌല്ഞാന് മഹാകഷ്ടത്തിലായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഫെലിസ്ത്യര് എന്നോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുന്നു; ദൈവം എന്നെ വിട്ടുമാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു; പ്രവാചകന്മാരെക്കൊണ്ടാകട്ടെ സ്വപ്നംകൊണ്ടാകട്ടെ എന്നോടു ഉത്തരമരുളുന്നില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് എന്തു ചെയ്യേണമെന്നു എനിക്കു പറഞ്ഞുതരേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

15. Samuel asked Saul, 'Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?' Saul said, 'I am greatly troubled. The Philistines are fighting against me, and God has left me. He won't answer me anymore, either by prophets or in dreams. That's why I called for you. Tell me what to do.'

16. അതിന്നു ശമൂവേല് പറഞ്ഞതുദൈവം നിന്നെ വിട്ടുമാറി നിനക്കു ശത്രുവായ്തീര്ന്നിരിക്കെ നീ എന്തിന്നു എന്നോടു ചോദിക്കുന്നു?

16. Samuel said, 'The Lord has left you and has become your enemy. So why do you call on me?

17. യഹോവ എന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു പറയിച്ചതുപോലെ അവന് നിന്നോടു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; രാജത്വം യഹോവ നിന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു പറിച്ചെടുത്തു നിന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരനായ ദാവീദിന്നു കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. He has done what he said he would do -- the things he said through me. He has torn the kingdom out of your hands and given it to one of your neighbors, David.

18. നീ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന കേട്ടില്ല; അമാലേക്കിന്റെമേല് അവന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപം നടത്തിയതുമില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ ഈ കാര്യം ഇന്നു നിന്നോടു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

18. You did not obey the Lord; you did not show the Amalekites how angry he was with them. That's why he has done this to you today.

19. യഹോവ നിന്നെയും യിസ്രായേലിനെയും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കും; നാളെ നീയും നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും എന്നോടുകൂടെ ആകും; യിസ്രായേല്പാളയത്തെ യഹോവ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിക്കും.

19. The Lord will hand over both Israel and you to the Philistines. Tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The Lord will hand over the army of Israel to the Philistines.'

20. പെട്ടെന്നു ശൌല് നെടുനീളത്തില് നിലത്തു വീണു ശമൂവേലിന്റെ വാക്കുകള് നിമിത്തം ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടുപോയി; അവനില് ഒട്ടും ബലമില്ലാതെയായി; അന്നു രാവും പകലും മുഴുവന് അവന് ഒന്നും ഭക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ലായിരുന്നു.

20. Saul quickly fell flat on the ground and was afraid of what Samuel had said. He was also very weak because he had eaten nothing all that day and night.

21. അപ്പോള് ആ സ്ത്രീ ശൌലിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു, അവന് ഏറ്റവും പരിഭ്രമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു അവനോടുഅടിയന് നിന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു ജീവനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു, നീ എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു അനുസരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

21. Then the woman came to Saul and saw that he was really frightened. She said, 'Look, I, your servant, have obeyed you. I have risked my life and done what you told me to do.

22. ആകയാല് അടിയന്റെ വാക്കു നീയും കേള്ക്കേണമേ. ഞാന് ഒരു കഷണം അപ്പം നിന്റെ മുമ്പില് വെക്കട്ടെ; നീ തിന്നേണം; എന്നാല് നിന്റെ വഴിക്കു പോകുവാന് നിനക്കു ബലം ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. Now please listen to me. Let me give you some food so you may eat and have enough strength to go on your way.'

23. അതിന്നു അവന് വേണ്ടാ, ഞാന് തിന്നുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; എങ്കിലും അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരും ആ സ്ത്രീയും അവനെ നിര്ബന്ധിച്ചു; അവന് അവരുടെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു നിലത്തുനിന്നു എഴുന്നേറ്റു മെത്തമേല് ഇരുന്നു.

23. But Saul refused, saying, 'I won't eat.' His servants joined the woman in asking him to eat, and he listened to them. So he got up from the ground and sat on the bed.

24. സ്ത്രീയുടെ വീട്ടില് ഒരു തടിച്ച പശുക്കിടാവു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവള് ക്ഷണത്തില് അതിനെ അറുത്തു മാവും എടുത്തുകുഴെച്ചു പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പം ചുട്ടു.

24. At the house the woman had a fat calf, which she quickly killed. She took some flour and mixed dough with her hands. Then she baked some bread without yeast.

25. അവള് അതു ശൌലിന്റെയും ഭൃത്യന്മാരുടെയും മുമ്പില് വെച്ചു. അവര് തിന്നു എഴുന്നേറ്റു രാത്രിയില് തന്നേ പോയി.

25. She put the food before them, and they ate. That same night they got up and left.
