1. ADONAI appeared to Avraham by the oaks of Mamre as he sat at the entrance to the tent during the heat of the day.

3. യജമാനനേ, എന്നോടു കൃപയുണ്ടെങ്കില് അടിയനെ കടന്നുപോകരുതേ.

3. and said, 'My lord, if I have found favor in your sight, please don't leave your servant.

4. Please let me send for some water, so that you can wash your feet; then rest under the tree,

5. ഞാന് ഒരു മുറി അപ്പം കൊണ്ടുവരാം; വിശപ്പു അടക്കീട്ടു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു പോകാം; ഇതിന്നായിട്ടല്ലോ നിങ്ങള് അടിയന്റെ അടുക്കല് കയറിവന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. നീ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ആകട്ടെ എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

5. and I will bring a piece of bread. Now that you have come to your servant, refresh yourselves before going on.' 'Very well,' they replied, 'do what you have said.'

6. അബ്രഹാം ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു കൂടാരത്തില് സാറയുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നുനീ ക്ഷണത്തില് മൂന്നിടങ്ങഴി മാവു എടുത്തു കുഴെച്ചു അപ്പമുണ്ടാക്കുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. Avraham hurried into the tent to Sarah and said, 'Quickly, three measures of the best flour! Knead it and make cakes.'

7. അബ്രാഹാം പശുക്കൂട്ടത്തില് ഔടിച്ചെന്നു ഇളയതും നല്ലതുമായൊരു കാളകൂട്ടിയെ പിടിച്ചു ഒരു ബാല്യക്കാരന്റെ പക്കല് കൊടുത്തു; അവന് അതിനെ ക്ഷണത്തില് പാകം ചെയ്തു.

7. Avraham ran to the herd, took a good, tender calf and gave it to the servant, who hurried to prepare it.

8. പിന്നെ അവന് വെണ്ണയും പാലും താന് പാകം ചെയ്യിച്ച കാളകൂട്ടിയെയും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അവരുടെ മുമ്പില് വെച്ചു. അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് വൃക്ഷത്തിന് കീഴില് ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചു നിന്നു; അവര് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു.

8. Then he took curds, milk and the calf which he had prepared, and set it all before the men; and he stood by them under the tree as they ate.

9. അവര് അവനോടുനിന്റെ ഭാര്യ സാറാ എവിടെ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുകൂടാരത്തില് ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

9. They said to him, 'Where is Sarah your wife?' He said, 'There, in the tent.'

10. ഒരു ആണ്ടു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഞാന് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിവരും; അപ്പോള് നിന്റെ ഭാര്യ സാറെക്കു ഒരു മകന് ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു. സാറാ കൂടാരവാതില്ക്കല് അവന്റെ പിന് വശത്തു കേട്ടുകൊണ്ടു നിന്നു.

10. He said, 'I will certainly return to you around this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.' Sarah heard him from the entrance of the tent, behind him.

11. Avraham and Sarah were old, advanced in years; Sarah was past the age of childbearing.

12. ആകയാല് സാറാ ഉള്ളുകൊണ്ടു ചിരിച്ചുവൃദ്ധയായിരിക്കുന്ന എനിക്കു സുഖഭോഗമുണ്ടാകുമോ? എന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവും വൃദ്ധനായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. So Sarah laughed to herself, thinking, 'I am old, and so is my lord; am I to have pleasure again?'

13. യഹോവ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടുവൃദ്ധയായ ഞാന് പ്രസവിക്കുന്നതു വാസ്തവമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു സാറാ ചിരിച്ചതു എന്തു?

13. ADONAI said to Avraham, 'Why did Sarah laugh and ask, 'Am I really going to bear a child when I am so old?'

14. യഹോവയാല് കഴിയാത്ത കാര്യം ഉണ്ടോ? ഒരു ആണ്ടു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഈ സമയമാകുമ്പോള് ഞാന് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടങ്ങിവരും; സാറെക്കു ഒരു മകന് ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

14. Is anything too hard for ADONAI? At the time set for it, at this season next year, I will return to you; and Sarah will have a son.'

15. സാറാ ഭയപ്പെട്ടുഇല്ല, ഞാന് ചിരിച്ചില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെയല്ല, നീ ചിരിച്ചു എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

15. Sarah denied it, saying, 'I didn't either laugh,' because she was afraid. He said, 'Not so- you did laugh.'

16. ആ പുരുഷന്മാര് അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു സൊദോംവഴിക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞു; അബ്രാഹാം അവരെ യാത്ര അയപ്പാന് അവരോടുകൂടെ പോയി.

16. The men set out from there and looked over toward S'dom, and Avraham went with them to see them on their way.

17. അപ്പോള് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുഞാന് ചെയ്വാനിരിക്കുന്നതു അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു മറെച്ചുവെക്കുമോ?

17. ADONAI said, 'Should I hide from Avraham what I am about to do,

18. അബ്രാഹാം വലിയതും ബലമുള്ളതുമായ ജാതിയായി തീരുകയും അവനില് ഭൂമിയിലെ ജാതികളൊക്കെയും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യുമല്ലോ.

18. inasmuch as Avraham is sure to become a great and strong nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed by him?

19. യഹോവ അബ്രാഹാമിനെക്കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു അവന്നു നിവൃത്തിച്ചുകൊടുപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അബ്രാഹാം തന്റെ മക്കളോടും തനിക്കു പിമ്പുള്ള കുടുംബത്തോടും നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവൃത്തിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവയുടെ വഴിയില് നടപ്പാന് കല്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് അവനെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

19. For I have made myself known to him, so that he will give orders to his children and to his household after him to keep the way of ADONAI and to do what is right and just, so that ADONAI may bring about for Avraham what he has promised him.'

20. പിന്നെ യഹോവസൊദോമിന്റെയും ഗൊമോരയുടെയും നിലവിളി വലിയതും അവരുടെ പാപം അതി കഠിനവും ആകുന്നു.

20. ADONAI said, 'The outcry against S'dom and 'Amora is so great and their sin so serious

21. ഞാന് ചെന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നെത്തിയ നിലവിളിപോലെ അവര് കേവലം പ്രവൃത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു നോക്കി അറിയും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

21. that I will now go down and see whether their deeds warrant the outcry that has reached me; if not, I will know.'

22. അങ്ങനെ ആ പുരുഷന്മാര് അവിടെനിന്നു തിരിഞ്ഞു സൊദോമിലേക്കു പോയി. അബ്രാഹാമോ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് തന്നേ നിന്നു.

22. The men turned away from there and went toward S'dom, but Avraham remained standing before [ADONAI.]

23. അബ്രാഹാം അടുത്തുചെന്നു പറഞ്ഞതുദുഷ്ടനോടുകൂടെ നീതിമാനെയും നീ സംഹരിക്കുമോ?

23. Avraham approached and said, 'Will you actually sweep away the righteous with the wicked?

24. പക്ഷേ ആ പട്ടണത്തില് അമ്പതു നീതിമാന്മാര് ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് നീ അതിനെ സംഹരിക്കുമോ? അതിലെ അമ്പതു നീതിമാന്മാര് നിമിത്തം ആ സ്ഥലത്തോടു ക്ഷമിക്കയില്ലയോ?

24. Maybe there are fifty righteous people in the city; will you actually sweep the place away, and not forgive it for the sake of the fifty righteous who are there?

25. ഇങ്ങനെ നീ ഒരുനാളും ചെയ്യുന്നതല്ലല്ലോ? നീതിമാന് ദുഷ്ടനെപ്പോലെ ആകത്തക്കവണ്ണം ദുഷ്ടനോടുകൂടെ നീതിമാനെ നീ ഒരുനാളും കൊല്ലുകയില്ല. സര്വ്വ ഭൂമിക്കും ന്യായാധിപതിയായവന് നീതി പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാതിരിക്കുമോ?
എബ്രായർ 12:23

25. Far be it from you to do such a thing- to kill the righteous along with the wicked, so that the righteous and the wicked are treated alike! Far be it from you! Shouldn't the judge of all the earth do what is just?'

26. അതിന്നു യഹോവഞാന് സൊദോമില്, പട്ടണത്തിന്നകത്തു, അമ്പതു നീതിമാന്മാരെ കാണുന്നു എങ്കില് അവരുടെ നിമിത്തം ആ സ്ഥലത്തോടൊക്കെയും ക്ഷമിക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

26. ADONAI said, 'If I find in S'dom fifty who are righteous, then I will forgive the whole place for their sake.'

27. പൊടിയും വെണ്ണീറുമായ ഞാന് കര്ത്താവിനോടു സംസാരിപ്പാന് തുനിഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ.

27. Avraham answered, 'Here now, I, who am but dust and ashes, have taken it upon myself to speak to [Adonai].

28. അമ്പതു നീതിമാന്മാരില് പക്ഷേ അഞ്ചുപേര് കുറഞ്ഞു പോയെങ്കിലോ? അഞ്ചുപേര് കുറഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു നീ ആ പട്ടണം മുഴുവനും നശിപ്പിക്കുമോ എന്നു അബ്രാഹാം പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുനാല്പത്തഞ്ചു പേരെ ഞാന് അവിടെ കണ്ടാല് അതിനെ നശിപ്പിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

28. What if there are five less than fifty righteous?' He said, 'I won't destroy it if I find forty-five there.'

29. അവന് പിന്നെയും അവനോടു സംസാരിച്ചുപക്ഷേ നാല്പതുപേരെ അവിടെ കണ്ടാലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഞാന് നാല്പതുപേരുടെ നിമിത്തം നശിപ്പിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

29. He spoke to him yet again: 'What if forty are found there?' He said, 'For the sake of the forty I won't do it.'

30. അതിന്നു അവന് ഞാന് പിന്നെയും സംസാരിക്കുന്നു; കര്ത്താവു കോപിക്കരുതേ; പക്ഷേ മുപ്പതുപേരെ അവിടെ കണ്ടാലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഞാന് മുപ്പതുപേരെ അവിടെ കണ്ടാല് നശിപ്പിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

30. He said, 'I hope [Adonai] won't be angry if I speak. What if thirty are found there?' He said, 'I won't do it if I find thirty there.'

31. ഞാന് കര്ത്താവിനോടു സംസാരിപ്പാന് തുനിഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ; പക്ഷേ ഇരുപതുപേരെ അവിടെ കണ്ടാലോ എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഞാന് ഇരുപതുപേരുടെ നിമിത്തം നശിപ്പിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

31. He said, 'Here now, I have taken it upon myself to speak to [Adonai]. What if twenty are found there?' He said, 'For the sake of the twenty I won't destroy it.'

32. അപ്പോള് അവന് കര്ത്താവു കോപിക്കരുതേ; ഞാന് ഇനി ഒരു പ്രാവശ്യം മാത്രം സംസാരിക്കും; പക്ഷേ പത്തു പേരെ അവിടെ കണ്ടാലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഞാന് പത്തുപേരുടെ നിമിത്തം നശിപ്പിക്കയില്ല എന്നു അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

32. He said, 'I hope [Adonai] won't be angry if I speak just once more. What if ten are found there?' He said, 'For the sake of the ten I won't destroy it.'

33. യഹോവ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു തീര്ന്നശേഷം അവിടെനിന്നു പോയി. അബ്രാഹാമും തന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

33. ADONAI went on his way as soon as he had finished speaking to Avraham, and Avraham returned to his place. [(iii)]
