1. ആ രണ്ടുദൂതന്മാര് വൈകുന്നേരത്തു സൊദോമില് എത്തി; ലോത്ത് സൊദോംപട്ടണ വാതില്ക്കല് ഇരിക്കയായിരുന്നു; അവരെ കാണ്ടിട്ടു ലോത്ത് എഴുന്നേറ്റു എതിരേറ്റു ചെന്നു നിലംവരെ കുനിഞ്ഞു നമസ്കരിച്ചു

1. And there came two angels to Sodom at even. And Lot sat at the gate of the city. And Lot saw them, and rose up against(to meet) them, and he bowed himself to the ground with his face.

2. യജമാനന്മാരേ, അടിയന്റെ വീട്ടില് വന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ കാലുകളെ കഴുകി രാപാര്പ്പിന് ; കാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിങ്ങളുടെ വഴിക്കു പോകയുമാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നുഅല്ല, ഞങ്ങള് വീഥിയില് തന്നേ രാപാര്ക്കും എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

2. And he said: See lords, turn in I pray you in to your servant's house and tarry all night and wash your feet, and rise up early and go on your ways. And they said: nay, but we will bide in the streets all night.

3. അവന് അവരെ ഏറ്റവും നിര്ബന്ധിച്ചു; അപ്പോള് അവര് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് തിരിഞ്ഞു അവന്റെ വീട്ടില് ചെന്നു; അവന് അവര്ക്കും വിരുന്നൊരുക്കി, പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പം ചുട്ടു; അവര് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു.

3. And he compelled them exceedingly. And they turned in unto him and entered into his house, and he made them a feast and did bake sweet cakes, and they ate.

4. അവര് ഉറങ്ങുവാന് പോകുമ്മുമ്പെ സൊദോംപട്ടണത്തിലെ പുരുഷന്മാര് സകല ഭാഗത്തുനിന്നും ആബാലവൃദ്ധം എല്ലാവരുംവന്നു വീടു വളഞ്ഞു.

4. But before they went to rest, the men of the city of Sodom compassed the house round about both old and young, all the people from all quarters.

5. അവര് ലോത്തിനെ വിളിച്ചുഈരാത്രി നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്ന പുരുഷന്മാര് എവിടെ? ഞങ്ങള് അവരെ ഭോഗിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവാ എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. And they called unto Lot and said unto him: where are the men which came into thy house to night? bring them out unto us that we may do our lust with them.

6. ലോത്ത് വാതില്ക്കല് അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തു ചെന്നു, കതകു അടെച്ചുംവെച്ചു

6. And Lot went out at doors unto them and shut the door after him

7. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഇങ്ങനെ ദോഷം ചെയ്യരുതേ.

7. and said: nay for god's(goddes) sake brethren, do not so wickedly.

8. പുരുഷന് തൊടാത്ത രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാര് എനിക്കുണ്ടു; അവരെ ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവരാം; നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ബോധിച്ചതുപോലെ അവരോടു ചെയ്തുകൊള്വിന് ; ഈ പുരുഷന്മാരോടു മാത്രം ഒന്നും ചെയ്യരുതേ; ഇതിന്നായിട്ടല്ലോ അവര് എന്റെ വീട്ടിന്റെ നിഴലില് വന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. Behold I have two daughters which have known no man, them will I bring out unto you: do with them as it seemeth you good: Only unto these men do nothing, for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

9. മാറിനില്ക്ക എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു. ഇവനൊരുത്തന് പരദേശിയായി വന്നു പാര്ക്കുംന്നു; ന്യായംവിധിപ്പാനും ഭാവിക്കുന്നു. ഇപ്പോള് ഞങ്ങള് അവരോടു ഭാവിച്ചതിലധികം നിന്നോടു ദോഷം ചെയ്യും എന്നും അവര് പറഞ്ഞു ലോത്തിനെ ഏറ്റവും തിക്കി വാതില് പൊളിപ്പാന് അടുത്തു.

9. And they said: come hither. And they said: camest thou not in to sojourn, and wilt thou be now a judge? we will surely deal worse with thee than with them. And as they preased sore upon Lot and began to break up the door,

10. അപ്പോള് ആ പുരുാഷന്മാര് കൈ പുറത്തോട്ടു നീട്ടി ലോത്തിനെ തങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് അകത്തു കയറ്റി വാതില്അടെച്ചു,

10. the men put forth their hands and pulled Lot into the house to them and shut to the door.

11. വാതില്ക്കല് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന പുരുഷന്മാര്ക്കും അബാലവൃദ്ധം അന്ധത പിടിപ്പിച്ചു. അതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് വാതില് തപ്പി നടന്നു വിഷമിച്ചു.

11. And the men that were at the door of the house, they smote with blindness both small and great: so that they could not find the door.

12. ആ പുരുഷന്മാര് ലോത്തിനോടുഇവിടെ നിനക്കു മറ്റു വല്ലവരുമുണ്ടോ? മരുമക്കളോ പുത്രന്മാരോ പുത്രിമാരോ ഇങ്ങനെ പട്ടണത്തില് നിനക്കുള്ളവരെയൊക്കെയും ഈ സ്ഥലത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപൊയ്ക്കെള്ക;

12. And the men said moreover unto Lot: If thou have yet here any son-in-law or sons or daughters or whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring it out of this place:

13. ഇവരെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ആവലാധി യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ വലുതായിത്തീര്ന്നിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു ഞങ്ങള് ഈ സ്ഥലത്തെ നശിപ്പിക്കും. അതിനെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് യഹോവ ഞങ്ങളെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. for we must destroy this place, because the cry of them is great before the LORD. Wherefore he hath sent us to destroy it.

14. അങ്ങനെ ലോത്ത് ചെന്നു തന്റെ പുത്രിമാരെ വിവാഹം ചെയ്വാനുള്ള മരുമക്കളോടു സംസാരിച്ചുനിങ്ങള് എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഈ സ്ഥലം വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെടുവിന് ; യഹോവ ഈ പട്ടണം നശിപ്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാല് അവന് കളി പറയുന്നു എന്നു അവന്റെ മരുമക്കള്ക്കു തോന്നി.

14. And Lot went out and spake unto his sons-in-law which should have married his daughters, and said: stand(stonde) up and get yow out of this place, for the LORD will destroy the city. But he seemed as though he had mocked, unto his sons-in-law.

15. ഉഷസ്സായപ്പോള് ദൂതന്മാര് ലോത്തിനെ ബദ്ധപ്പെടുത്തിഈ പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ അകൃത്യത്തില് നശിക്കാതിരിപ്പാന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിന്റെ ഭാര്യയെയും ഇവിടെ കാണുന്ന നിന്റെ രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാരെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപൊയ്ക്കള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And as the morning arose the angels caused Lot to speed him saying: Stand up, take thy wife and thy two daughters and that that is at hand, lest thou perish in the sin of the city.

16. അവന് താമസിച്ചപ്പോള്, യഹോവ അവനോടു കരുണ ചെയ്കയാല്, ആ പുരുഷന്മാര് അവനെയും ഭാര്യയെയും രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാരെയും കൈകൂ പിടിച്ചു പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയിആക്കി.

16. And as he prolonged the time, the men caught both him, his wife and his two daughters by the hands, because the LORD was merciful unto him, and they brought him forth and set him without the city.

17. അവരെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ശേഷം അവന് ജീവരക്ഷെക്കായി ഔടിപ്പോകപുറകോട്ടു നോക്കരുതു; ഈ പ്രദേശത്തെങ്ങും നില്ക്കയുമരുതു; നിനക്കു നാശം ഭവിക്കാതിരിപ്പാന് പര്വ്വതത്തിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോക എന്നുപറഞ്ഞു.

17. When they had brought them out, they said: Save thy life and look not behind thee neither tarry thou in any place of the country, but save thyself in the mountain, lest thou perish.

18. ലോത്ത് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഅങ്ങനെയല്ല കര്ത്താവേ;

18. Then said Lot unto them: Oh nay my Lord:(lorde)

19. നിനക്കു അടിയനോടു കൃപ തോന്നിയല്ലോ; എന്റെ ജീവനെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന് എനിക്കു വലിയ കൃപ നീ കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; പര്വ്വതത്തില് ഔടി എത്തുവാന് എനിക്കു കഴികയില്ല; പക്ഷേ എനിക്കു ദോഷം തട്ടി മരണം ഭവിക്കും.

19. behold, inasmuch as thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, now make thy mercy great which thou shewest unto me in saving my life. For I can not save myself in the mountains, lest some misfortune fall upon me and I die.

20. ഇതാ, ഈ പട്ടണം സമീപമാകുന്നു; അവിടേക്കു എനിക്കു ഔടാം; അതു ചെറിയതുമാകുന്നു; ഞാന് അവിടേക്കു ഔടിപ്പേകട്ടെ. അതു ചെറിയതല്ലോ; എന്നാല് എനിക്കു ജീവരക്ഷ ഉണ്ടാകും.

20. Behold, here is a city by, to flee unto, and it is a little one, let me save myself therein: is it not a little one, that my soul may live?

21. അവന് അവനോടുഇക്കാര്യത്തിലും ഞാന് നിന്നെ കടാക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ പറഞ്ഞ പട്ടണം ഞാന് മറിച്ചുകളകയില്ല.

21. And he said to him: see I have received thy request as concerning this thing, that I will not overthrow this city for the which thou hast spoken.

22. ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു അവിടേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോക; നീ അവിടെ എത്തുവോളം എനിക്കു ഒന്നും ചെയ്വാന് കഴികയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതു കൊണ്ടു ആ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു സോവര് എന്നു പേരായി.

22. Haste thee, and save thyself there, for I can do nothing till thou be come in thither. And therefore the name of the city is called Zoar.

23. ലോത്ത് സോവരില് കടന്നപ്പോള് സൂര്യന് ഉദിച്ചിരുന്നു.

23. And the sun was upon the earth when Lot was entered into Zoar.

24. യഹോവ സൊദോമിന്റെയും ഗൊമോരയുടെയും മേല് യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില്നിന്നു, ആകാശത്തു നിന്നു തന്നെ, ഗന്ധകവും തീയും വര്ഷിപ്പിച്ചു.

24. Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and Gomorra, brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven,

25. ആ പട്ടണങ്ങള്ക്കും പ്രദേശത്തിന്നും മുഴുവനും ആ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലെ സകലനിവാസികള്ക്കും നിലത്തെ സസ്യങ്ങള്ക്കും ഉന്മൂലനാശം വരുത്തി.

25. and overthrew those cities and all the region, and all that dwelled in the cities, and that that grew upon the earth.

26. ലോത്തിന്റെ ഭാര്യ അവന്റെ പിന്നില്നിന്നു തിരിഞ്ഞുനോക്കി ഉപ്പുതൂണായി ഭവിച്ചു.

26. And Lot's wife looked behind her, and was turned in to a pillar of salt.

27. അബ്രാഹാം രാവിലെ എഴുന്നേറ്റു താന് യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് നിന്നിരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു ചെന്നു,

27. Abraham rose up early and got him to the place where he stood before the LORD,

28. സൊദോമിന്നും ഗൊമോരെക്കും ആ പ്രദേശത്തിലെ സകലദിക്കിന്നും നേരെ നോക്കി, ദേശത്തിലെ പുക തീച്ചൂളയിലെ പുകപോലെ പൊങ്ങുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

28. and looked toward Sodom and Gomorra and toward all the land of that country. And as he looked: behold, the smoke of the country arose as it had been the smoke of a furnace.

29. എന്നാല് ആ പ്രദേശത്തിലെപട്ടണങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിക്കുമ്പോള് ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിനെ ഔര്ത്തു ലോത്ത് പാര്ത്ത പട്ടണങ്ങള്ക്കു ഉന്മൂലനാശം വരുത്തുകയില് ലോത്തിനെ ആ ഉന്മൂലനാശത്തില്നിന്നു വിടുവിച്ചു.

29. But yet when God destroyed the cities of the region, he thought upon Abraha: and sent Lot out from the danger of the overthrowing, when he overthrew the cities where Lot dwelled.

30. അനന്തരം ലോത്ത് സോവര് വിട്ടുപോയി; അവനും അവന്റെ രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാരും പര്വ്വതത്തില് ചെന്നു പാര്ത്തു; സോവരില് പാര്പ്പാന് അവന് ഭയപ്പെട്ടു; അവനും അവന്റെ രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാരും ഒരു ഗുഹയില് പാര്ത്തു.

30. And Lot departed out of Zoar and dwelled in the mountains and his two daughters with him for he feared to tarry in Zoar: he dwelt therefore in a cave, both he and his two daughters also.

31. അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കുമ്പോള് മൂത്തവള് ഇളയവളോടുനമ്മുടെ അപ്പന് വൃദ്ധനായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഭൂമിയില് എല്ലാടവും ഉള്ള നടപ്പുപോലെ നമ്മുടെ അടുക്കല് വരുവാന് ഭൂമിയില് ഒരു പുരുഷനും ഇല്ല.

31. Then said the elder unto the younger our father is old, and there are no more men in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the world.

32. വരിക; അപ്പനാല് സന്തതി ലഭിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ വീഞ്ഞുകുടിപ്പിച്ചു അവനോടുകൂടെ ശയിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

32. Come therefore, let us give our father wine to drink, and let us lie with him that we may save seed of our father.

33. അങ്ങനെ അന്നു രാത്രി അവര് അപ്പനെ വീഞ്ഞുകുടിപ്പിച്ചു; മൂത്തവള് അകത്തു ചെന്നു അപ്പനോടുകൂടെ ശയിച്ചു; അവള് ശയിച്ചതും എഴുന്നേറ്റതും അവന് അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.

33. And they gave their father wine to drink that same night. And the elder daughter went and lay with her father. And he perceived it not, neither when she lay down, neither when she rose up.

34. പിറ്റെന്നാള് മൂത്തവള് ഇളയവളോടുഇന്നലെ രാത്രി ഞാന് അപ്പനോടുകൂടെ ശയിച്ചു; നാം അവനെ ഇന്നു രാത്രിയും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിപ്പിക്ക; അപ്പനാല് സന്തതി ലഭിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീയും അകത്തുചെന്നു അവനോടു കൂടെ ശയിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

34. And on the morrow the elder said unto the younger: behold, yesternight lay I with my father. Let us give him wine to drink this night also, and go thou and lie with him, and let us save seed of our father.

35. അങ്ങനെ അന്നു രാത്രിയും അവര് അപ്പനെ വീഞ്ഞു കുടിപ്പിച്ചു; ഇളയവള് ചെന്നു അവനോടു കൂടെ ശയിച്ചു; അവള് ശയിച്ചതും എഴുന്നേറ്റതും അവന് അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.

35. And they gave their father wine to drink that night also. And the younger arose and lay with him. And he perceived it not: neither when she lay down, neither when she rose up.

36. ഇങ്ങനെ ലോത്തിന്റെ രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാരും അപ്പനാല് ഗര്ഭം ധരിച്ചു.

36. Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

37. മൂത്തവള് ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു അവന്നു മോവാബ് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു; അവന് ഇന്നുള്ള മോവാബ്യര്ക്കും പിതാവു.

37. And the elder bare a son and called him Moab, which is the father of the Moabites unto this day.

38. ഇളയവളും ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; അവന്നു ബെന് -അമ്മീ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു; അവന് ഇന്നുള്ള അമ്മോന്യര്ക്കും പിതാവു.

38. And the younger bare a son and called him Ben Ammi, which is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.
