1. THE SONS of Judah: Perez, Hezron, Carmi, Hur, and Shobal.

2. ശോബലിന്റെ മകനായ രെയായാവു യഹത്തിനെ ജനപ്പിച്ചു; യഹത്ത് അഹൂമായിയെയും ലാഹദിനെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു. ഇവര് സോരത്യരുടെ കുലങ്ങള്.

2. Reaiah son of Shobal was the father of Jahath, and Jahath of Ahumai and Lahad. These were the families of the Zorathites.

3. ഏതാമിന്റെ അപ്പനില് നിന്നുത്ഭവിച്ചവര് ഇവര്യിസ്രെയേല്, യിശ്മാ, യിദ്ബാശ്; അവരുടെ സഹോദരിക്കു ഹസ്സെലൊല്പോനി എന്നു പേര്.

3. These were the sons of [Hur] the father of Etam: Jezreel, Ishma, and Idbash. And their sister was Hazzelelponi.

4. And Penuel was the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These were the sons of Hur, the eldest of Ephrathah (Ephrath), the father of Bethlehem.

5. Ashur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.

9. Jabez was honorable above his brothers; but his mother named him Jabez [sorrow maker], saying, Because I bore him in pain.

10. Jabez cried to the God of Israel, saying, Oh, that You would bless me and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and You would keep me from evil so it might not hurt me! And God granted his request.

14. Meonothai was father of Ophrah, and Seraiah of Joab the father of Ge-harashim [the Valley of Craftsmen], so named because they were craftsmen.

18. And Mered's Jewish wife bore Jered the father of Gedor, Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah.

19. The sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were: the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maacathite.

21. The sons of Shelah son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of the linen workers at Beth-ashbea,

22. യോക്കീമും കോസേബാനിവാസികളും മോവാബില് അധികാരം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന യോവാശ്, സാരാഫ് എന്നിവരും യാശുബീ-ലേഹെമും തന്നേ. ഇവ പുരാണവൃത്താന്തങ്ങള് അല്ലോ.

22. And Jokim, the men of Cozeba, Joash, and Saraph, who ruled in Moab, and returned to [Bethlehem]. These are ancient matters.

23. ഇവര് നെതായീമിലും ഗെദേരയിലും പാര്ത്ത കുശവന്മാര് ആയിരുന്നു; അവര് രാജാവിനോടുകൂടെ അവന്റെ വേല ചെയ്വാന് അവിടെ പാര്ത്തു.

23. These were the potters and those who dwelt among plantations and hedges at Netaim and Gederah; there they dwelt with the king for his work.

24. The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, and Shaul;

25. Shallum was his [Shaul's] son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.

26. The sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son.

27. ശിമെയിക്കു പതിനാറു പുത്രന്മാരും ആറു പുത്രിമാരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; എങ്കിലും അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാര്ക്കും അധികം മക്കളില്ലായ്കയാല് അവരുടെ കുലമെല്ലാം യെഹൂദാമക്കളോളം വര്ദ്ധിച്ചില്ല.

27. Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters, but his brothers did not have many children; neither did all their family multiply like the children of Judah.

28. അവര് ബേര്-ശേബയിലും

28. They dwelt at Beersheba, Moladah, Hazar-shual,

29. മോലാദയിലും ഹസര്-ശൂവാലിലും ബില്ഹയിലും

29. Bilhah, Ezem, Tolad,

30. Bethuel, Hormah, Ziklag,

31. ഹൊര്മ്മയിലും സിക്ളാഗിലും ബേത്ത്-മര്ക്കാബോത്തിലും ഹസര്-സൂസീമിലും ബേത്ത്-ബിരിയിലും ശയരയീമിലും പാര്ത്തു. ഇവ ദാവീദിന്റെ വാഴ്ചവരെ അവരുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങള് ആയിരുന്നു.

31. Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susim, Beth-biri, and at Shaaraim. These were their towns [and villages] until the reign of David.

32. അവരുടെ ഗ്രാമങ്ങള്ഏതാം, അയീന് , രിമ്മോന് , തോഖെന് , ആശാന് ഇങ്ങനെ അഞ്ചു പട്ടണവും

32. There were also Etam, Ain, Rimmon, Tochen, and Ashan--five towns--

33. ഈ പട്ടണങ്ങളുടെ ചുറ്റും ബാല്വരെ ഇവേക്കുള്ള സകലഗ്രാമങ്ങളും തന്നേ. ഇവ അവരുടെ വാസസ്ഥലങ്ങള്. അവര്ക്കും സ്വന്തവംശാവലിയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

33. And all their villages that were round about these towns, as far as Baal[-ath-beer]. These were their settlements, and they had their genealogical record.

34. മെശോബാബ്, യമ്ളേക്, അമസ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യോശാ, യോവേല്,

34. Meshobab, Jamlech, Joshah son of Amaziah,

35. അസീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ സെരായാവിന്റെ മകനായ യോശിബ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യേഹൂ, എല്യോവേനായി,

35. Joel, Jehu son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,

36. യയക്കോബാ, യെശോഹായാവു, അസായാവു, അദീയേല്, യസീമീയേല്,

36. Also Elioenai, Jaakobah, Jeshohaiah, Asaiah, Adiel, Jesimiel, Benaiah,

37. ബെനായാവു, ശെമെയാവിന്റെ മകനായ ശിമ്രിയുടെ മകനായ യെദായാവിന്റെ മകനായ അല്ലോന്റെ മകനായ ശിഫിയുടെ മകനായ സീസാ;

37. Ziza son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah.

38. പേര് വിവരം പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന ഇവര് തങ്ങളുടെ കുലങ്ങളില് പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരായിരുന്നു; അവരുടെ പിതൃഭവനങ്ങള് ഏറ്റവും വര്ദ്ധിച്ചിരുന്നു.

38. These mentioned by name were princes in their families; and their fathers' houses increased greatly [so they needed more room].

39. അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടങ്ങള്ക്കു മേച്ചല് തിരയേണ്ടതിന്നു ഗെദോര്പ്രവേശനത്തോളം താഴ്വരയുടെ കിഴക്കുവശംവരെ യാത്രചെയ്തു.

39. And they journeyed to the entrance of Gedor to the east side of the valley to seek pasture for their flocks.

40. അവര് പുഷ്ടിയുള്ളതും നല്ലതുമായ മേച്ചല് കണ്ടെത്തി; ദേശം വിസ്താരവും സ്വസ്ഥതയും സമാധാനവും ഉള്ളതായിരുന്നു; അവിടത്തെ പൂര്വ്വനിവാസികള് ഹാംവംശക്കാരായിരുന്നു.

40. And they found rich, good pasture, and the [cleared] land was wide, quiet, and peaceful, because people of Ham had dwelt there of old [and had left it a better place for those who came after them].

41. And these registered by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah and destroyed their tents and the Meunim [foreigners] who were found there and exterminated them to this day, and they settled in their stead, because there was pasture for their flocks.

42. ശിമെയോന്യരായ ഇവരില് അഞ്ഞൂറുപേര്, യിശിയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരായ, പെലത്യാവു, നെയര്യ്യാവു, രെഫായാവു, ഉസ്സീയേല് എന്നീ തലവന്മാരോടുകൂടെ സേയീര്പര്വ്വതത്തിലേക്കു യാത്രചെയ്തു.

42. And some of them from the sons of Simeon, 500 men, went to Mount Seir, having for their leaders Pelatiah, and Neariah, Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.

43. അവര് അമാലേക്യരില് ചാടിപ്പോയിരുന്ന ശിഷ്ടജനത്തെ വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നു ഇന്നുവരെ അവിടെ പാര്ക്കുംന്നു.

43. They destroyed the remnant of the Amalekites who had escaped, and they have dwelt there to this day.
