1. അനന്തരം ഔദേദിന്റെ മകനായ അസര്യ്യാവിന്റെമേല് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവു വന്നു.

1. And the spirit of God came upon Azarias the son of Oded,

2. അവന് ആസയെ എതിരേറ്റു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്ആസയും എല്ലായെഹൂദ്യരും ബെന്യാമീന്യരും ആയുള്ളോരേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്പ്പിന് ; നിങ്ങള് യഹോവയോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നേടത്തോളം അവന് നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കും; അവനെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് നിങ്ങള് അവനെ കണ്ടെത്തും; ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിലോ അവന് നിങ്ങളെയും ഉപേക്ഷിക്കും.

2. And he went out to meet Asa, and said to him: Hear ye me, Asa, and all Juda and Benjamin: The Lord is with you, because you have been with him. If you seek him, you shall find: but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

3. യിസ്രായേല് ഇപ്പോള് ബഹുകാലമായി സത്യദൈവവും ഉപദേശിക്കുന്ന പുരോഹിതനും ന്യായപ്രമാണവും ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കുന്നു;

3. And many days shall pass in Israel without the true God, and without a priest a teacher, and without the law.

4. എന്നാല് അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ ഞെരുക്കത്തില് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞു അവനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചപ്പോള്, അവര് അവനെ കണ്ടെത്തി.

4. And when in their distress they shall return to the Lord the God of Israel, and shall seek him, they shall find him.

5. ആ കാലത്തു പോക്കുവരവിന്നു സമാധാനം ഇല്ലാതവണ്ണം ദേശനിവാസികള്ക്കു ഒക്കെയും മഹാകലാപങ്ങള് ഭവിച്ചു.

5. At that time there shall be no peace to him that goeth out and cometh in, but terrors on every side among all the inhabitants of the earth.

6. ദൈവം അവരെ സകലവിധകഷ്ടങ്ങളാലും പീഡിപ്പിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ജാതി ജാതിയെയും പട്ടണം പട്ടണത്തെയും തകര്ത്തുകളഞ്ഞു.

6. For nation shall fight against nation, and city against city, for the Lord will trouble them with all distress.

7. എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് ധൈര്യമായിരിപ്പിന് ; നിങ്ങളുടെ കൈകള് തളര്ന്നുപോകരുതു; നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവൃത്തിക്കു പ്രതിഫലം ഉണ്ടാകും.

7. Do you therefore take courage, and let not your hands he weakened: for there shall be a reward for your work.

8. ആസാ ഈ വാക്കുകളും ഔദേദ് പ്രവാചകന്റെ പ്രവചനവും കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവന് ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടു, യെഹൂദയുടെയും ബെന്യാമിന്റെയും ദേശത്തുനിന്നൊക്കെയും എഫ്രയീംമലനാട്ടില് അവന് പിടിച്ചിരുന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങളില്നിന്നും മ്ളേച്ഛവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ നീക്കിക്കളകയും യഹോവയുടെ മണ്ഡപത്തിന് മുമ്പിലുള്ള യഹോവയുടെ യാഗപീഠം പുതുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

8. And when Asa had heard the words, and the prophecy of Azarias the son of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and took away the idols out of all the land of Juda, and out of Benjamin, and out of the cities of mount Ephraim, which he had taken, and he dedicated the altar of the Lord, which was before the porch of the Lord.

9. പിന്നെ അവന് എല്ലായെഹൂദ്യരെയും ബെന്യാമീന്യരെയും എഫ്രയീമില്നിന്നും മനശ്ശെയില് നിന്നും ശിമേയോനില്നിന്നും അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുപാര്ക്കുംന്നവരെയും കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി; അവന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവനോടുകൂടെയുണ്ടു എന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു യിസ്രായേലില്നിന്നു അനേകര് വന്നു അവനോടു ചേര്ന്നു.

9. And he gathered together all Juda and Benjamin, and the strangers with them of Ephraim, and Manasses, and Simeon: for many were come over to him out of Israel, seeing that the Lord his God was with him.

10. ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് ആസയുടെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ പതിനേഴാം ആണ്ടില് മൂന്നാം മാസത്തില് യെരൂശലേമില് വന്നുകൂടി.

10. And when they were come to Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa,

11. തങ്ങള് കൊണ്ടുവന്ന കൊള്ളയില്നിന്നു അവര് എഴുനൂറു കാളയെയും ഏഴായിരം ആടിനെയും അന്നു യഹോവേക്കു യാഗം കഴിച്ചു.

11. They sacrificed to the Lord in that day of the spoils, and of the prey, that they had brought, seven hundred oxen, and seven thousand rams.

12. പിന്നെ അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ പൂര്ണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടും പൂര്ണ്ണമനസ്സോടും കൂടെ അന്വേഷിച്ചുകൊള്ളാമെന്നും

12. And he went in to confirm as usual the covenant, that they should seek the Lord the God of their fathers with all their heart, and with all their soul.

13. ചെറിയവനോ വലിയവനോ പുരുഷനോ സ്ത്രീയോ ആരായാലും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കാത്തവര് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണമെന്നും ഒരു നിയമം ചെയ്തു.

13. And if any one, said he, seek not the Lord the God of Israel, let him die, whether little or great, man or woman.

14. അവര് മഹാഘോഷത്തോടും ആര്പ്പോടും കാഹളങ്ങളോടും കുഴലുകളോടും കൂടെ യഹോവയോടു സത്യംചെയ്തു.

14. And they swore to the Lord with a loud voice with joyful shouting, and with sound of trumpet, and sound of comets,

15. എല്ലായെഹൂദ്യരും സത്യംനിമിത്തം സന്തോഷിച്ചു; അവര് പൂര്ണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടെ സത്യംചെയ്തു പൂര്ണ്ണതാല്പര്യത്തോടുംകൂടെ അവനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് അവനെ കണ്ടെത്തുകയും യഹോവ അവര്ക്കും ചുറ്റും വിശ്രമം നലകുകയും ചെയ്തു.

15. All that mere in Juda with a curse: for with all their heart they swore, and with all their will they sought him, and they found him, and the Lord gave them rest round about.

16. ആസാരാജാവു തന്റെ അമ്മയായ മയഖയെയും അവള് അശേരകൂ ഒരു മ്ളേച്ഛവിഗ്രഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു രാജ്ഞിസ്ഥാനത്തില്നിന്നു നീക്കക്കളഞ്ഞു; അവളുടെ മ്ളേച്ഛവിഗ്രഹം ആസാ വെട്ടിത്തകര്ത്തു കിദ്രോന് തോട്ടിങ്കല്വെച്ചു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

16. Moreover Maacha the mother of king Asa he deposed from the royal authority, because she had made in a grove an idol of Priapus: and he entirely destroyed it, and breaking it into pieces, burnt it at the torrent Cedron.

17. എന്നാല് പൂജാഗിരികള്ക്കു യിസ്രായേലില് നീക്കംവന്നില്ല; എങ്കിലും ആസയുടെ ഹൃദയം അവന്റെ ജീവകാലമൊക്കെയും ഏകാഗ്രമായിരുന്നു.

17. But high places were left in Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

18. വെള്ളി, പൊന്നു, ഉപകരണങ്ങള് എന്നിങ്ങനെ തന്റെ അപ്പന് നിവേദിച്ചതും താന് തന്നേ നിവേദിച്ചതുമായ വസ്തുക്കളെ അവന് ദൈവാലയത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

18. And the things which his father had vowed, and he himself had vowed, he brought into the house of the Lord, gold and silver, and vessels of divers uses.

19. ആസയുടെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ മുപ്പത്തഞ്ചാം സംവത്സരംവരെ പിന്നെ യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടായില്ല.

19. And there was no war unto the five and thirtieth year of the kingdom of Asa.
