1. ഊസ് ദേശത്തു ഇയ്യോബ് എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു പുരുഷന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന് നിഷ്കളങ്കനും നേരുള്ളവനും ദൈവഭക്തനും ദോഷം വിട്ടകലുന്നവനും ആയിരുന്നു.
1 തെസ്സലൊനീക്യർ 5:22

1. In the lande of Hus there was a man whose name was Iob, & the same was a perfect and iust man, one that feared God and eschued euill.

2. അവന്നു ഏഴു പുത്രന്മാരും മൂന്നു പുത്രിമാരും ജനിച്ചു.

2. And he had seuen sonnes and three daughters.

3. അവന്നു ഏഴായിരം ആടും മൂവായിരം ഒട്ടകവും അഞ്ഞൂറു ഏര് കാളയും അഞ്ഞൂറു പെണ് കഴുതയുമായ മൃഗസമ്പത്തും ഏറ്റവും വളരെ ദാസജനവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അങ്ങനെ അവന് സകലപൂര്വ്വദിഗ്വാസികളിലും മഹാനായിരുന്നു.

3. His substaunce also was seuen thousand sheepe, and three thousand camels, fiue hundred yoke of oxen, and fiue hundred shee asses, and a very great householde: so that he was one of the most principall men among all them of the east [countrey.]

4. അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര് ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ ദിവസത്തില് താന്താന്റെ വീട്ടില് വിരുന്നു കഴിക്കയും തങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷിച്ചു പാനം ചെയ്വാന് തങ്ങളുടെ മൂന്നു സഹോദരിമാരെയും ആളയച്ചു വിളിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്ക പതിവായിരുന്നു.

4. And his sonnes went and banquetted in their houses euery one his day, and sent for their three sisters to eate and drinke with them.

5. എന്നാല് വിരുന്നുനാളുകള് വട്ടംതികയുമ്പോള് ഇയ്യോബ് പക്ഷെ എന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര് പാപം ചെയ്തു ദൈവത്തെ ഹൃദയംകൊണ്ടു ത്യജിച്ചുപോയിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ആളയച്ചു അവരെ വരുത്തി ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കയും നന്നാ രാവിലെ എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവരുടെ സംഖ്യകൂ ഒത്തവണ്ണം ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളെ കഴിക്കയും ചെയ്യും. ഇങ്ങനെ ഇയ്യോബ് എല്ലായ്പോഴും ചെയ്തുപോന്നു.

5. And when the dayes of their banquetting were gone about, Iob sent and sanctified them, and gat vp early and offered for euery one a burnt offring: For Iob saide, It may be that my sonnes haue done some offence, & haue ben vnthankfull to God in their heartes. Thus did Iob euery day.

6. ഒരു ദിവസം ദൈവപുത്രന്മാര് യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് നില്പാന് ചെന്നു; അവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് സാത്താനും ചെന്നു.

6. And vpon a day when the children of God came and stoode before the lord, Satan came also among them.

7. യഹോവ സാത്താനോടുനീ എവിടെനിന്നു വരുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു സാത്താന് യഹോവയോടുഞാന് ഭൂമിയില് ഊടാടി സഞ്ചരിച്ചിട്ടു വരുന്നു എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

7. And the Lorde saide vnto Satan Whence comest thou? Satan aunswered the Lorde and saide: From compassing the earth to and fro, & from walking through it.

8. യഹോവ സാത്താനോടുഎന്റെ ദാസനായ ഇയ്യോബിന്മേല് നീ ദൃഷ്ടിവെച്ചുവോ? അവനെപ്പോലെ നിഷ്കളങ്കനും നേരുള്ളവനും ദൈവഭക്തനും ദോഷം വിട്ടകലുന്നവനും ഭൂമിയില് ആരും ഇല്ലല്ലോ എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

8. And the Lorde saide vnto Satan: Hast thou not considered my seruaunt Iob, how there is none lyke him in the earth? a perfect and a iust man, one that feareth God, and eschueth euill?

9. അതിന്നു സാത്താന് യഹോവയോടുവെറുതെയോ ഇയ്യോബ് ദൈവഭക്തനായിരിക്കുന്നതു?

9. Satan aunswered, and saide vnto the Lorde: Doth Iob feare God for naught?

10. നീ അവന്നും അവന്റെ വീട്ടിന്നും അവന്നുള്ള സകലത്തിന്നും ചുറ്റും വേലികെട്ടീട്ടില്ലയോ? നീ അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ മൃഗസമ്പത്തു ദേശത്തു പെരുകിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

10. Hast thou not preserued him and his house, and al that he hath on euery side? Thou hast blessed the worke of his handes, and his possession is encreased in the lande.

11. തൃക്കൈ നീട്ടി അവന്നുള്ളതൊക്കെയും ഒന്നു തൊടുക; അവന് നിന്നെ മുഖത്തു നോക്കി ത്യജിച്ചുപറയും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

11. But laye thyne hand now vpon him, and touche all that he hath, and he shall curse thee to thy face.

12. ദൈവം സാത്താനോടുഇതാ, അവന്നുള്ളതൊക്കെയും നിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ മേല് മാത്രം കയ്യേറ്റം ചെയ്യരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ സാത്താന് യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധി വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി.

12. And the Lorde saide vnto Satan: Lo, all that he hath be in thy power, only vpon him selfe see that thou lay not thine hand. And Satan went foorth from the presence of the Lorde.

13. ഒരു ദിവസം ഇയ്യോബിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും മൂത്ത ജ്യേഷ്ഠന്റെ വീട്ടില് തിന്നുകയും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള്

13. And vpon a certayne day, when his sonnes and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brothers house,

14. ഒരു ദൂതന് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്വന്നുകാളകളെ പൂട്ടുകയും പെണ്കഴുതകള് അരികെ മേഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കയും ആയിരുന്നു;

14. There came a messenger vnto Iob, and sayde: The oxen were plowing and the asses feeding beside them:

15. പെട്ടെന്നു ശെബായര് വന്നു അവയെ പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോകയും വേലക്കാരെ വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാല് വെട്ടിക്കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്തു; വിവരം നിന്നെ അറിയിപ്പാന് ഞാന് ഒരുത്തന് മാത്രം വഴുതിപ്പോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And the Sabees came violently, and toke them away, yea they haue slayne thy seruauntes with the edge of the sword: and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

16. അവന് സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ വേറൊരുത്തന് വന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ തീ ആകാശത്തുനിന്നു വീണു കത്തി, ആടുകളും വേലക്കാരും അതിന്നു ഇരയായ്പോയി; വിവരം നിന്നെ അറിയിപ്പാന് ഞാന് ഒരുത്തന് മാത്രം വഴുതിപ്പോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. While he was yet speaking, there came another, and sayde: The fire of God is fallen from heauen, and hath brent vp thy sheepe and seruauntes, and consumed them: and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

17. അവന് സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ മറ്റൊരുത്തന് വന്നുപെട്ടെന്നു കല്ദയര് മൂന്നു കൂട്ടമായി വന്നു ഒട്ടകങ്ങളെ പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പോകയും വേലക്കാരെ വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാല് വെട്ടിക്കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്തു; വിവരം നിന്നെ അറിയിപ്പാന് ഞാന് ഒരുത്തന് മാത്രം വഴുതിപ്പോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. And whyle he was yet speaking there came another, and sayde: The Caldees made out their bandes, and fel vpon the camels, and haue caried them away, yea and slayne thy seruauntes with the sworde: and I only am gotten away alone to tell thee.

18. അവന് സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് മറ്റൊരുത്തന് വന്നു; നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും മൂത്ത ജ്യേഷ്ഠന്റെ വീട്ടില് തിന്നുകയും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

18. And whyle he was yet speaking there came an other, and sayde: Thy sonnes and thy daughters were eating and drincking wine in their eldest brothers house,

19. പെട്ടെന്നു മരുഭൂമിയില്നിന്നു ഒരു കൊടുങ്കാറ്റു വന്നു വീട്ടിന്റെ നാലു മൂലെക്കും അടിച്ചുഅതു യൌവനക്കാരുടെമേല് വീണു; അവര് മരിച്ചുപോയി; വിവരം നിന്നെ അറിയിപ്പാന് ഞാനൊരുത്തന് മാത്രം വഴുതിപ്പോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. And behold there came a mightie great wind from beyond the wildernesse, and smote the foure corners of the house, whiche fell vpon thy children, and they are dead: and I am gotten away alone to tell thee.

20. അപ്പോള് ഇയ്യോബ് എഴുന്നേറ്റു വസ്ത്രം കീറി തല ചിരെച്ചു സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു

20. Then Iob stoode vp, and rent his clothes, & shaued his head, fell downe vpon the ground, worshipped,

21. നഗ്നനായി ഞാന് എന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ ഗര്ഭത്തില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു, നഗ്നനായി തന്നേ മടങ്ങിപ്പോകും, യഹോവ തന്നു, യഹോവ എടുത്തു, യഹോവയുടെ നാമം വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
1 തിമൊഥെയൊസ് 6:7

21. And sayde: Naked came I out of my mothers wombe, & naked shall I turne thyther againe: The Lorde gaue & the Lord hath taken away, blessed be the name of the Lorde.

22. ഇതിലൊന്നിലും ഇയ്യോബ് പാപം ചെയ്കയോ ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഭോഷത്വം ആരോപിക്കയോ ചെയ്തില്ല.

22. In all these thinges dyd Iob not offende, nor charged God foolishly.
