1. അതിന്നു ഇയ്യോബ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. Then Job replied:

2. എന്റെ വാക്കു ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ കേള്പ്പിന് ; അതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ആശ്വാസമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

2. 'Listen carefully to my words; let this be the consolation you give me.

3. നില്പിന് , ഞാനും സംസാരിക്കട്ടെ; ഞാന് സംസാരിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു നിനക്കു പരിഹസിക്കാം.

3. Bear with me while I speak, and after I have spoken, mock on.

4. ഞാന് സങ്കടം പറയുന്നതു മനുഷ്യനോടോ? എന്റെ ക്ഷമ അറ്റുപോകാതിരിക്കുന്നതെങ്ങനെ?

4. 'Is my complaint directed to a human being? Why should I not be impatient?

5. എന്നെ നോക്കി ഭ്രമിച്ചുപോകുവിന് ; കൈകൊണ്ടു വായ്പൊത്തിക്കൊള്വിന് .

5. Look at me and be appalled; clap your hand over your mouth.

6. ഔര്ക്കുംമ്പോള് ഞാന് ഞെട്ടിപ്പോകുന്നു; എന്റെ ദേഹത്തിന്നു വിറയല് പിടിക്കുന്നു.

6. When I think about this, I am terrified; trembling seizes my body.

7. ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു വാര്ദ്ധക്യം പ്രാപിക്കയും അവര്ക്കും ബലം വര്ദ്ധിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്തു?

7. Why do the wicked live on, growing old and increasing in power?

8. അവരുടെ സന്താനം അവരോടുകൂടെ അവരുടെ മുമ്പിലും അവരുടെ വംശം അവര് കാണ്കെയും ഉറെച്ചു നിലക്കുന്നു.

8. They see their children established around them, their offspring before their eyes.

9. അവരുടെ വീടുകള് ഭയം കൂടാതെ സുഖമായിരിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വടി അവരുടെമേല് വരുന്നതുമില്ല.

9. Their homes are safe and free from fear; the rod of God is not on them.

10. അവരുടെ കാള ഇണചേരുന്നു, നിഷ്ഫലമാകുന്നില്ല; അവരുടെ പശു കിടാവിടുന്നു കരു അഴിയുന്നതുമില്ല.

10. Their bulls never fail to breed; their cows calve and do not miscarry.

11. അവര് കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടത്തെപ്പോലെ പുറത്തയക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ പൈതങ്ങള് നൃത്തം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

11. They send forth their children as a flock; their little ones dance about.

12. അവര് തപ്പോടും കിന്നരത്തോടുംകൂടെ പാടുന്നു; കുഴലിന്റെ നാദത്തിങ്കല് സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു.

12. They sing to the music of timbrel and lyre; they make merry to the sound of the pipe.

13. അവര് സുഖമായി നാള് കഴിക്കുന്നു; മാത്രകൊണ്ടു പാതാളത്തിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങുന്നു.

13. They spend their years in prosperity and go down to the grave in peace.

14. അവര് ദൈവത്തോടുഞങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുപോക; നിന്റെ വഴികളെ അറിവാന് ഞങ്ങള് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ല;

14. Yet they say to God, 'Leave us alone! We have no desire to know your ways.

15. ഞങ്ങള് സര്വ്വശക്തനെ സേവിപ്പാന് അവന് ആര്? അവനോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചാല് എന്തു പ്രയോജനം എന്നു പറയുന്നു.

15. Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? What would we gain by praying to him?'

16. എന്നാല് അവരുടെ ഭാഗ്യം അവര്ക്കും കൈവശമല്ല; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ആലോചന എന്നോടു അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. But their prosperity is not in their own hands, so I stand aloof from the counsel of the wicked.

17. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ വിളകൂ കെട്ടുപോകുന്നതും അവര്ക്കും ആപത്തു വരുന്നതും ദൈവം കോപത്തില് കഷ്ടങ്ങളെ വിഭാഗിച്ചു കൊടുക്കുന്നതും എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം!

17. 'Yet how often is the lamp of the wicked snuffed out? How often does calamity come upon them, the fate God allots in his anger?

18. അവര് കാറ്റിന്നു മുമ്പില് താളടിപോലെയും കൊടുങ്കാറ്റു പറപ്പിക്കുന്ന പതിര്പോലെയും ആകുന്നു.

18. How often are they like straw before the wind, like chaff swept away by a gale?

19. ദൈവം അവന്റെ അകൃത്യം അവന്റെ മക്കള്ക്കായി സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുവെക്കുന്നു; അവന് അതു അനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്നു തന്നേ പകരം കൊടുക്കട്ടെ.

19. It is said,?'God stores up the punishment of the wicked for their children.' Let him repay the wicked, so that they themselves will experience it!

20. അവന്റെ സ്വന്ത കണ്ണു അവന്റെ നാശം കാണട്ടെ; അവന് തന്നേ സര്വ്വശക്തന്റെ ക്രോധം കുടിക്കട്ടെ;

20. Let their own eyes see their destruction; let them drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

21. അവന്റെ മാസങ്ങളുടെ സംഖ്യ അറ്റുപോയാല് തന്റെശേഷം തന്റെ ഭവനത്തോടു അവനെന്തു താല്പര്യം?

21. For what do they care about the families they leave behind when their allotted months come to an end?

22. ആരെങ്കിലും ദൈവത്തിന്നു ബുദ്ധിയുപദേശിക്കുമോ? അവന് ഉന്നതന്മാരെ ന്യായം വിധിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

22. 'Can anyone teach knowledge to God, since he judges even the highest?

23. ഒരുത്തന് കേവലം സ്വൈരവും സ്വസ്ഥതയുമുള്ളവനായി തന്റെ പൂര്ണ്ണക്ഷേമത്തില് മരിക്കുന്നു.

23. One person dies in full vigor, completely secure and at ease,

24. അവന്റെ തൊട്ടികള് പാലുകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ അസ്ഥികളിലെ മജ്ജ അയഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

24. well nourished in body, bones rich with marrow.

25. മറ്റൊരുത്തന് മനോവ്യസനത്തോടെ മരിക്കുന്നു; നന്മയൊന്നും അനുഭവിപ്പാന് ഇടവരുന്നതുമില്ല.

25. Another dies in bitterness of soul, never having enjoyed anything good.

26. അവര് ഒരുപോലെ പൊടിയില് കിടക്കുന്നു; കൃമി അവരെ മൂടുന്നു.

26. Side by side they lie in the dust, and worms cover them both.

27. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ വിചാരങ്ങളെയും നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ നേരെ നിരൂപിക്കുന്ന ഉപായങ്ങളെയും അറിയുന്നു.

27. 'I know full well what you are thinking, the schemes by which you would wrong me.

28. പ്രഭുവിന്റെ ഭവനം എവിടെ? ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് പാര്ത്ത കൂടാരം എവിടെ എന്നല്ലോ നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നതു?

28. You say, 'Where now is the house of the great, the tents where the wicked lived?'

29. വഴിപോക്കരോടു നിങ്ങള് ചോദിച്ചിട്ടില്ലയോ? അവരുടെ അടയാളങ്ങളെ അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ?

29. Have you never questioned those who travel? Have you paid no regard to their accounts

30. അനര്ത്ഥദിവസത്തില് ദുഷ്ടന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു; ക്രോധദിവസത്തില് അവര്ക്കും വിടുതല് കിട്ടുന്നു.

30. that the wicked are spared from the day of calamity, that they are delivered from the day of wrath?

31. അവന്റെ നടപ്പിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ആര് അവന്റെ മുഖത്തു നോക്കി പറയും? അവന് ചെയ്തതിന്നു തക്കവണ്ണം ആര് അവന്നു പകരം വീട്ടും?

31. Who denounces their conduct to their face? Who repays them for what they have done?

32. എന്നാലും അവനെ ശ്മശാനത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നു; അവന് കല്ലറെക്കല് കാവല്നിലക്കുന്നു.

32. They are carried to the grave, and watch is kept over their tombs.

33. താഴ്വരയിലെ കട്ട അവന്നു മധുരമായിരിക്കും; അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ സകലമനുഷ്യരും ചെല്ലും; അവന്നു മുമ്പെ പോയവര്ക്കും എണ്ണമില്ല.

33. The soil in the valley is sweet to them; everyone follows after them, and a countless throng goes before them.

34. നിങ്ങള് വൃഥാ എന്നെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ? നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉത്തരങ്ങളില് കപടം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ.

34. 'So how can you console me with your nonsense? Nothing is left of your answers but falsehood!'
