1. എലീഹൂ പിന്നെയും പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. Elihu continued his speech. He said:

2. ജ്ഞാനികളേ, എന്റെ വചനം കേള്പ്പിന് ; വിദ്വാന്മാരേ, എനിക്കു ചെവിതരുവിന് .

2. And now, you sages, listen to what I say, lend me your ears, you learned men.

3. അണ്ണാകൂ ആഹാരത്തെ രുചിനോക്കുന്നു; ചെവിയോ വചനങ്ങളെ ശോധന ചെയ്യുന്നു;

3. The ear distinguishes the value of what is said, just as the palate can tell one food from another.

4. ന്യായമായുള്ളതു നമുക്കു തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കാം; നന്മയായുള്ളതു നമുക്കു തന്നേ ആലോചിച്ചറിയാം.

4. Let us consider together God's ruling and decide what we all mean by good.

5. ഞാന് നീതിമാന് , ദൈവം എന്റെ ന്യായം തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞു; എന്റെ ന്യായത്തിന്നെതിരെ ഞാന് ഭോഷകു പറയേണമോ?

5. Job has been saying, 'I am upright and God denies me fair judgement.

6. ലംഘനം ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞിട്ടും എന്റെ മുറിവു പൊറുക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഇയ്യോബ് പറഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ.

6. My judge is treating me cruelly, my wound is incurable, for no fault of mine.'

7. ഇയ്യോബിനെപ്പോലെ ഒരാളുണ്ടോ? അവന് പരിഹാസത്തെ വെള്ളംപോലെ കുടിക്കുന്നു;

7. Can anyone else exist like Job, who laps up mockery like water,

8. അവന് ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരോടു കൂട്ടുകൂടുന്നു; ദുര്ജ്ജനങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നു.

8. who consorts with evil-doers and marches in step with the wicked?

9. ദൈവത്തോടു രഞ്ജനയായിരിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു മനുഷ്യന്നു പ്രയോജനമില്ലെന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Did he not say, 'No one derives any benefit from enjoying the society of God'?

10. അതുകൊണ്ടു വിവേകികളേ, കേട്ടുകൊള്വിന് ; ദൈവം ദുഷ്ടതയോ സര്വ്വശക്തന് നീതികേടോ ഒരിക്കലും ചെയ്കയില്ല.

10. Listen to me then, like intelligent people. Far be evil from God or injustice from Shaddai!

11. അവന് മനുഷ്യന്നു അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിക്കു പകരം ചെയ്യും; ഔരോരുത്തന്നു അവനവന്റെ നടപ്പിന്നു തക്കവണ്ണം കൊടുക്കും.

11. For he pays people back for what they do, treating each as his own conduct deserves.

12. ദൈവം ദുഷ്ടത പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കയില്ല നിശ്ചയം; സര്വ്വശക്തന് ന്യായം മറിച്ചുകളകയുമില്ല.

12. Be sure of it: God never does wrong, Shaddai does not pervert what is just.

13. ഭൂമിയെ അവങ്കല് ഭരമേല്പിച്ചതാര്? ഭൂമണ്ഡലമാകെ സ്ഥാപിച്ചതാര്?

13. Did someone else entrust the world to his care was he given charge of the universe by someone else?

14. അവന് തന്റെ കാര്യത്തില് മാത്രം ദൃഷ്ടിവെച്ചെങ്കില് തന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെയും ശ്വാസത്തെയും മടക്കി എടുത്തെങ്കില്

14. If he were to recall his spirit, to concentrate his breath back in himself,

15. സകലജഡവും ഒരുപോലെ കഴിഞ്ഞുപോകും; മനുഷ്യന് പൊടിയിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിച്ചേരും.

15. all flesh would instantly perish and all people would return to dust.

16. നിനക്കു വിവേകമുണ്ടെങ്കില് ഇതു കേട്ടുകൊള്ക; എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുകൊള്ക;

16. If you have any intelligence, listen to this, lend your ear to the sound of my words.

17. ന്യായത്തെ പകെക്കുന്നവന് ഭരിക്കുമോ? നീതിമാനും ബലവാനുമായവനെ നീ കുറ്റം വിധിക്കുമോ?

17. Could an enemy of fair judgement ever govern? Would you dare condemn the Upright One, the Almighty,

18. രാജാവിനോടുനീ വഷളന് എന്നും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരോടുനിങ്ങള് ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് എന്നും പറയുമോ?

18. who says to a king, 'You are a scoundrel!' and to nobles, 'You are wicked!',

19. അവന് പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെ പക്ഷം എടുക്കുന്നില്ല; ദരിദ്രനെക്കാള് ധനവാനെ ആദരിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല; അവരെല്ലാവരും തൃക്കൈയുടെ പ്രവൃത്തിയല്ലോ.

19. who is unimpressed by princes and makes no distinction between rich and poor, since all alike have been made by him?

20. പെട്ടെന്നു അര്ദ്ധരാത്രിയില് തന്നേ അവര് മരിക്കുന്നു; ജനം കുലുങ്ങി ഒഴിഞ്ഞു പോകുന്നു; കൈ തൊടാതെ ബലശാലികള് നീങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു.

20. They die suddenly, at dead of night, they perish -- these great ones -- and disappear: it costs him no effort to remove a tyrant.

21. അവന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടി മനുഷ്യന്റെ വഴികളിന്മേല് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ നടപ്പു ഒക്കെയും അവന് കാണുന്നു.

21. For his eyes keep watch on human ways, and he observes every step.

22. ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാര്ക്കും ഒളിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണ്ടതിന്നു അവിടെ ഇരുട്ടുമില്ല അന്ധതമസ്സുമില്ല.

22. No darkness, no shadow dark as death where wrong-doers can hide!

23. മനുഷ്യന് ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് ന്യായവിസ്താരത്തിന്നു ചെല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന് അവനില് അധികം ദൃഷ്ടിവെപ്പാന് ആവശ്യമില്ല.

23. He serves no writ on anyone, no summons to appear before God's court:

24. വിചാരണ ചെയ്യാതെ അവന് ബലശാലികളെ തകര്ത്തുകളയുന്നു; അവര്ക്കും പകരം വേറെ ആളുകളെ നിയമിക്കുന്നു.

24. he breaks the powerful without enquiry and sets up others in their places.

25. അങ്ങനെ അവന് അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെ അറിയുന്നു; രാത്രിയില് അവരെ മറിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവര് തകര്ന്നുപോകുന്നു.

25. He knows the sort of things they do! He overthrows them at night, to be trampled on.

26. കാണികള് കൂടുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തുവെച്ചു അവന് അവരെ ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെപ്പോലെ ശിക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

26. He beats them like criminals chained up for all to see,

27. അവര്, എളിയവരുടെ നിലവിളി അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് എത്തുവാനും പീഡിതന്മാരുടെ നിലവിളി അവന് കേള്പ്പാനും തക്കവണ്ണം

27. since they have turned their backs on him, having understood so little of his ways

28. അവനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു പിന്മാറിക്കളകയും അവന്റെ വഴികളെ ഗണ്യമാക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ.

28. as to make the cries of the weak rise to him and let him hear the appeal of the afflicted.

29. വഷളനായ മനുഷ്യന് വാഴാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും ജനത്തെ കുടുക്കുവാന് ആരും ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും

29. But if he is still silent and no one can move him, if he veils his face, so that no one can see him, he is taking pity on nations and individuals,

30. അവന് സ്വസ്ഥത നല്കിയാല് ആര് കുറ്റം വിധിക്കും? ഒരു ജാതിക്കായാലും ഒരാള്ക്കായാലും അവന് മുഖം മറെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞാല് ആര് അവനെ കാണും?

30. is setting some wrong-doer free from the meshes of affliction.

31. ഞാന് ശിക്ഷ സഹിച്ചു; ഞാന് ഇനി കുറ്റം ചെയ്കയില്ല;

31. When such a one says to God, 'I was misled, I shall not do wrong any more;

32. ഞാന് കാണാത്തതു എന്നെ പഠിപ്പിക്കേണമേ; ഞാന് അന്യായം ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കില് ഇനി ചെയ്കയില്ല എന്നു ആരെങ്കിലും ദൈവത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

32. although I have sinned, instruct me; although I did wrong, I will not do it again,'

33. നീ മുഷിഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് നിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ പകരം ചെയ്യേണമോ? ഞാനല്ല, നീ തന്നേ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കേണ്ടതല്ലോ; ആകയാല് നീ അറിയുന്നതു പ്രസ്താവിച്ചുകൊള്ക.

33. in your opinion, should he punish such a one -- you who have rejected his decisions? This is for you to decide -- not for me!- so kindly enlighten us!

34. ഇയ്യോബ് അറിവില്ലാതെ സംസാരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ വാക്കുകളിലും ജ്ഞാനമില്ല എന്നു വിവേകമുള്ള പുരുഷന്മാരും

34. Ordinary sensible people, however, will say to me, and so will any sage who has been listening to me,

35. എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കുന്ന ഏതു ജ്ഞാനിയും എന്നോടു പറയും.

35. 'Job's words are spoken without any knowledge, what he says shows no intelligence.

36. ഇയ്യോബ് ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെപ്പോലെ പ്രതിവാദിക്കകൊണ്ടു അവനെ ആദിയോടന്തം പരിശോധിച്ചാല് കൊള്ളാം.

36. Kindly examine him thoroughly, since his answers imply that he is a criminal.

37. അവന് തന്റെ പാപത്തോടു ദ്രോഹം ചേര്ക്കുംന്നു; അവന് നമ്മുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ കൈ കൊട്ടുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി വാക്കു വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

37. For to his sin he now adds rebellion, bringing law to an end among us and heaping abuse on God.'
