1. ബാബേല് നദികളുടെ തീരത്തു ഞങ്ങള് ഇരുന്നു, സീയോനെ ഔര്ത്തപ്പോള് ഞങ്ങള് കരഞ്ഞു.

1. There we sat down by the rivers of Babylon; also, we wept when we remembered Zion.

2. അതിന്റെ നടുവിലെ അലരിവൃക്ഷങ്ങളിന്മേല് ഞങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളുടെ കിന്നരങ്ങളെ തൂക്കിയിട്ടു.

2. We hung our lyres on the willows in its midst.

3. ഞങ്ങളെ ബദ്ധരാക്കിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയവര്സീയോന് ഗീതങ്ങളില് ഒന്നു ചൊല്ലുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ഗീതങ്ങളെയും ഞങ്ങളെ പീഡിപ്പിച്ചവര് സന്തോഷത്തെയും ഞങ്ങളോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

3. For there our captors demanded a song from us; and our plunderers demanded gladness, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

4. ഞങ്ങള് യഹോവയുടെ ഗീതം അന്യദേശത്തു പാടുന്നതെങ്ങനെ?

4. How shall we sing Jehovah's song in a foreign land?

5. യെരൂശലേമേ, നിന്നെ ഞാന് മറക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് എന്റെ വലങ്കൈ മറന്നു പോകട്ടെ.

5. If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget.

6. നിന്നെ ഞാന് ഔര്ക്കാതെ പോയാല്, യെരൂശലേമിനെ എന്റെ മുഖ്യസന്തോഷത്തെക്കാള് വിലമതിക്കാതെ പോയാല്, എന്റെ നാവു അണ്ണാക്കിനോടു പറ്റിപ്പോകട്ടെ.

6. If I do not remember you, let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth; if I do not prefer Jerusalem above my chief joy.

7. ഇടിച്ചുകളവിന് , അടിസ്ഥാനംവരെ അതിനെ ഇടിച്ചുകളവിന് ! എന്നിങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞ ഏദോമ്യര്ക്കായി യഹോവേ, യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നാള് ഔര്ക്കേണമേ.

7. Remember, O Jehovah, the sons of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Make it bare! Make it bare, even to the foundation of it!

8. നാശം അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ബാബേല്പുത്രിയേ, നീ ഞങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ നിന്നോടു ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ഭാഗ്യവാന് . നിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ പിടിച്ചു പാറമേല് അടിച്ചുകളയുന്നവന് ഭാഗ്യവാന് .

8. O daughter of Babylon, O destroyed one! Blessed is he who will repay to you your reward which you rewarded to us.
