1. യഹോവ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുമോശെയും ശമൂവേലും എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നിന്നാലും എന്റെ മനസ്സു ഈ ജനത്തിങ്കലേക്കു ചായ്കയില്ല; ഇവരെ എന്റെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു ആട്ടിക്കളക; അവര് പോയ്ക്കൊള്ളട്ടെ.

1. The word of LORD that came to Jeremiah concerning the drought.

2. ഞങ്ങള് എവിടേക്കു പോകേണ്ടു എന്നു അവര് നിന്നോടു ചോദിച്ചാല് നീ അവരോടുമരണത്തിന്നുള്ളവര് മരണത്തിന്നും വാളിന്നുള്ളവര് വാളിന്നും ക്ഷാമത്തിന്നുള്ളവര് ക്ഷാമത്തിന്നും പ്രവാസത്തിന്നുള്ളവര് പ്രവാസത്തിന്നും പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളട്ടെ എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറക.

2. Judah mourns, and the gates thereof languish. They sit in black upon the ground, and the cry of Jerusalem has gone up.

3. കൊന്നുകളവാന് വാളും പറിച്ചുകീറുവാന് നായ്ക്കളും തിന്നു മുടിപ്പാന് ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികളും കാട്ടിലെ മൃഗങ്ങളും ഇങ്ങനെ നാലു വകയെ ഞാന് അവരുടെ നേരെ നിയമിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

3. And their ranking men send their little ones to the waters. They come to the cisterns, and find no water. They return with their vessels empty. They are put to shame and confounded, and cover their heads,

4. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്റെ മകന് മനശ്ശെനിമിത്തം, അവന് യെരൂശലേമില് ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ളതു നിമിത്തം തന്നേ, ഞാന് അവരെ ഭൂമിയിലുള്ള സകല രാജ്യങ്ങളിലും ഒരു ഭീതിവിഷയമാക്കിത്തീര്ക്കും.

4. because of the ground which is cracked. Because no rain has been in the land, the plowmen are put to shame; they cover their heads.

5. യെരൂശലേമേ, ആര്ക്കും നിന്നോടു കനിവുതോന്നുന്നു? ആര് നിന്നോടു സഹതാപം കാണിക്കും? നിന്റെ ക്ഷേമം ചോദിപ്പാന് ആര് കയറിവരും?

5. Yea, the hind also in the field calves, and forsakes it because there is no grass.

6. നീ എന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു പിന് വാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് നിന്റെ നേരെ കൈ നീട്ടി നിന്നെ നശിപ്പിക്കും; ഞാന് കരുണകാണിച്ചു മടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

6. And the wild donkeys stand on the bare heights. They pant for air like jackals. Their eyes fail because there is no herbage.

7. ദേശത്തിന്റെ പടിവാതിലുകളില് ഞാന് അവരെ വീശുമുറംകൊണ്ടു വീശിക്കളഞ്ഞു; ഞാന് എന്റെ ജനത്തെ മക്കളില്ലാത്തവരാക്കി നശിപ്പിച്ചുഎങ്കിലും അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ വഴികളെ വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞില്ല.

7. Though our iniquities testify against us, work thou for thy name's sake, O LORD. For our backslidings are many. We have sinned against thee.

8. അവരുടെ വിധവമാര് കടല്പുറത്തെ മണലിനെക്കാള് പെരുകിക്കാണുന്നു; യൌവനക്കാരന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ നേരെ ഞാന് നട്ടുച്ചെക്കു ഒരു വിനാശകനെ വരുത്തി പെട്ടന്നു അവളുടെ മേല് നടുക്കവും ഭീതിയും വീഴുമാറാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു;

8. O thou hope of Israel, the Savior of it in the time of trouble, why should thou be as a sojourner in the land, and as a wayfaring man who turns aside to tarry for a night?

9. ഏഴു മക്കളെ പ്രസവിച്ചവള് ക്ഷീണിച്ചു പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവളുടെ സൂര്യന് പകല് തീരുംമുമ്പെ അസ്തമിച്ചുപോയി; അവള് ലജ്ജിച്ചും നാണിച്ചും പോയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവരില് ശേഷിപ്പുള്ളവരെ ഞാന് അവരുടെ ശത്രുക്കള്ക്കു മുമ്പില് വാളിന്നു ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

9. Why should thou be as a man frightened, as a mighty man who cannot save? Yet thou, O LORD, are in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name. Do not leave us.

10. എന്റെ അമ്മേ, സര്വ്വദേശത്തിന്നും കലഹക്കാരനും വിവാദക്കാരനും ആയിരിക്കുന്ന എന്നെ നീ പ്രസവിച്ചുവല്ലോ, അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം! ഞാന് പലിശെക്കു കൊടുത്തിട്ടില്ല; എനിക്കു ആരും പലിശ തന്നിട്ടുമില്ല; എന്നിട്ടും അവരെല്ലാവരും എന്നെ ശപിക്കുന്നു.

10. Thus says LORD to this people: Even so they have loved to wander. They have not restrained their feet. Therefore LORD does not accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.

11. യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുഞാന് നിന്നെ നന്മെക്കായി രക്ഷിക്കും നിശ്ചയം; അനര്ത്ഥകാലത്തും കഷ്ടകാലത്തും ഞാന് ശത്രുവിനെക്കൊണ്ടു നിന്നോടു യാചിപ്പിക്കും നിശ്ചയം.

11. And LORD said to me, Pray not for this people for good.

12. താമ്രവും ഇരിമ്പും വടക്കന് ഇരിമ്പും ഒടിഞ്ഞുപോകുമോ?

12. When they fast, I will not hear their cry. And when they offer burnt-offering and meal-offering, I will not accept them. But I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.

13. നിന്റെ ദേശത്തൊക്കെയും നിന്റെ സകലപാപങ്ങളും നിമിത്തം നിന്റെ സമ്പത്തും നിക്ഷേപങ്ങളും ഞാന് വിലവാങ്ങാതെ കവര്ച്ചെക്കു ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കും.

13. Then I said, Ah, lord LORD! Behold, the prophets say to them, Ye shall not see the sword, nor shall ye have famine, but I will give you assured peace in this place.

14. നീ അറിയാത്ത ദേശത്തു ഞാന് നിന്നെ ശത്രുക്കളെ സേവിക്കുമാറാക്കും; എന്റെ കോപത്തില് ഒരു തീ ജ്വലിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു നിങ്ങളുടെമേല് കത്തും.

14. Then LORD said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name. I did not send them, nor have I commanded them, nor did I speak to them. They prophesy to you a lying vision, and divination, and a thing of naught, and the deceit of their own heart.

15. യഹോവേ, നീ അറിയുന്നു; എന്നെ ഔര്ത്തു സന്ദര്ശിക്കേണമേ; എന്നെ ഉപദ്രവിക്കുന്നവരോടു പ്രതികാരം ചെയ്യേണമേ; നിന്റെ ദീര്ഘക്ഷമയില് എന്നെ എടുത്തുകളയരുതേ; നിന്റെ നിമിത്തം ഞാന് നിന്ദ സഹിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഔര്ക്കേണമേ;

15. Therefore thus says LORD concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, and I did not send them, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land: By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed.

16. ഞാന് നിന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കണ്ടെത്തി ഭക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ വചനങ്ങള് എനിക്കു സന്തോഷവും എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്നു ആനന്ദവും ആയി; സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, നിന്റെ നാമം എനിക്കു വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

16. And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword, and they shall have none to bury them--them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters. For I will pour their wickedness upon them.

17. കളിക്കാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് ഞാന് ഇരുന്നു ഉല്ലസിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; നീ എന്നെ നീരസംകൊണ്ടു നിറെച്ചിരിക്കയാല് നിന്റെ കൈനിമിത്തം ഞാന് തനിച്ചിരുന്നു.

17. And thou shall say this word to them: Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease. For the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound.

18. എന്റെ വേദന നിരന്തരവും എന്റെ മുറിവു പൊറുക്കാതവണ്ണം വിഷമവും ആയിരിക്കുന്നതെന്തു? നീ എനിക്കു ചതിക്കുന്ന തോടും വറ്റിപ്പോകുന്ന വെള്ളവും പോലെ ആയിരിക്കുമോ?

18. If I go forth into the field, then, behold, the slain with the sword! And if I enter into the city, then, behold, those who are sick with famine! For both the prophet and the priest go about in the land, and have no knowledge.

19. അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനീ മടങ്ങിവന്നാല് ഞാന് നിന്നെ എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നില്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം വീണ്ടും കൈക്കൊള്ളും; നീ അധമമായതു ഒഴിച്ചു ഉത്തമമായതു പ്രസ്താവിച്ചാല് നീ എന്റെ വായ്പോലെ ആകും; അവര് നിന്റെ പക്ഷം തിരിയും നീ അവരുടെ പക്ഷം തിരികയില്ല.

19. Have thou utterly rejected Judah? Has thy soul loathed Zion? Why have thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came, and for a time of healing, and, behold, dismay!

20. ഞാന് നിന്നെ ഈ ജനത്തിന്നു ഉറപ്പുള്ള താമ്രഭിത്തിയാക്കിവേക്കും; അവര് നിന്നോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യും, ജയിക്കയില്ല; നിന്നെ രക്ഷിപ്പാനും വിടുവിപ്പാനും ഞാന് നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

20. We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers, for we have sinned against thee.

21. ഞാന് നിന്നെ ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വിടുവിക്കയും നീഷ്കണ്ടകന്മാരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വീണ്ടുകൊള്ളുകയും ചെയ്യും.

21. Do not abhor us. For thy name's sake, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory. Remember, do not break thy covenant with us.
