1. ഞാന് അവന്റെ കോപത്തിന്റെ വടികൊണ്ടു കഷ്ടം കണ്ട പുരുഷനാകുന്നു.

1. I AM [Jeremiah] the man who has seen affliction under the rod of His wrath.

2. അവന് എന്നെ വെളിച്ചത്തിലല്ല, ഇരുട്ടിലത്രേ നടത്തിക്കൊണ്ടു പോന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു.

2. He has led me and brought me into darkness and not light.

3. അതേ, അവന് ഇടവിടാതെ പിന്നെയും പിന്നെയും തന്റെ കൈ എന്റെ നേരെ തിരിക്കുന്നു.

3. Surely He has turned away from me; His hand is against me all the day.

4. എന്റെ മാംസത്തെയും ത്വക്കിനെയും അവന് ജീര്ണ്ണമാക്കി, എന്റെ അസ്ഥികളെ തകര്ത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. My flesh and my skin has He worn out and made old; He has shattered my bones.

5. അവന് എന്റെ നേരെ പിണിതു, നഞ്ചും പ്രയാസവും എന്നെ ചുറ്റുമാറാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

5. He has built up [siege mounds] against me and surrounded me with bitterness, tribulation, and anguish.

6. ശാശ്വതമൃതന്മാരെപ്പോലെ അവന് എന്നെ ഇരുട്ടില് പാര്പ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

6. He has caused me to dwell in dark places like those long dead.

7. പുറത്തു പോകുവാന് കഴിയാതവണ്ണം അവന് എന്നെ വേലികെട്ടിയടച്ചു എന്റെ ചങ്ങലയെ ഭാരമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

7. He walled me in so that I cannot get out; He has weighted down my chain.

8. ഞാന് ക്കുകി നിലവിളിച്ചാലും അവന് എന്റെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന തടുത്തുകളയുന്നു.

8. Even when I cry and shout for help, He shuts out my prayer.

9. വെട്ടുകല്ലുകൊണ്ടു അവന് എന്റെ വഴി അടെച്ചു, എന്റെ പാതകളെ വികടമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

9. He has enclosed my ways with hewn stone; He has made my paths crooked.

10. അവന് എനിക്കു പതിയിരിക്കുന്ന കരടിയെപ്പോലെയും മറഞ്ഞുനിലക്കുന്ന സിംഹത്തെപ്പോലെയും ആകുന്നു.

10. He is to me like a bear lying in wait, and like a lion [hiding] in secret places.

11. അവന് എന്റെ വഴികളെ തെറ്റിച്ചു എന്നെ കടിച്ചുകീറി ശൂന്യമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

11. He has turned me off my ways and pulled me in pieces; He has made me desolate.

12. അവന് വില്ലു കുലെച്ചു എന്നെ അമ്പിന്നു ലാക്കാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. He has bent His bow and set me as a mark for the arrow.

13. അവന് തന്റെ പൂണിയിലെ അമ്പുകളെ എന്റെ അന്തരംഗങ്ങളില് തറെപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

13. He has caused the arrows of His quiver to enter into my heart [the seat of my affections and desires].

14. ഞാന് എന്റെ സര്വ്വജനത്തിന്നും പരിഹാസവും ഇടവിടാതെ അവരുടെ പാട്ടും ആയിത്തീര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. I have become a derision to all my people, and [the subject of] their singsong all the day.

15. അവന് എന്നെ കൈപ്പുകൊണ്ടു നിറെച്ചു, കാഞ്ഞിരംകൊണ്ടു മത്തുപിടിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു;

15. He has filled me with bitterness; He has made me drink to excess and until drunken with wormwood [bitterness].

16. അവന് കല്ലുകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ പല്ലു തകര്ത്തു, എന്നെ വെണ്ണീരില് ഇട്ടുരുട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. He has also broken my teeth with gravel (stones); He has covered me with ashes.

17. നീ എന്റെ പ്രാണനെ സമാധാനത്തില്നിന്നു നീക്കി; ഞാന് സുഖം മറന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. And You have bereaved my soul and cast it off far from peace; I have forgotten what good and happiness are.

18. എന്റെ മഹത്വവും യഹോവയിങ്കലുള്ള എന്റെ പ്രത്യാശയും പൊയ്പോയല്ലോ എന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And I say, Perished is my strength and my expectation from the Lord.

19. നീ എന്റെ കഷ്ടതയും അരിഷ്ടതയും കാഞ്ഞിരവും കൈപ്പും ഔര്ക്കേണമേ.

19. [O Lord] remember [earnestly] my affliction and my misery, my wandering and my outcast state, the wormwood and the gall.

20. എന്റെ പ്രാണന് എന്റെ ഉള്ളില് എപ്പോഴും അവയെ ഔര്ത്തു ഉരുകിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

20. My soul has them continually in remembrance and is bowed down within me.

21. ഇതു ഞാന് ഔര്ക്കും; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് പ്രത്യാശിക്കും.

21. But this I recall and therefore have I hope and expectation:

22. നാം മുടിഞ്ഞുപോകാതിരിക്കുന്നതു യഹോവയുടെ ദയ ആകുന്നു; അവന്റെ കരുണ തീര്ന്നു പോയിട്ടില്ലല്ലോ;

22. It is because of the Lord's mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not. [Mal. 3:6.]

23. അതു രാവിലെതോറും പുതിയതും നിന്റെ വിശ്വസ്ഥത വലിയതും ആകുന്നു.

23. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness. [Isa. 33:2.]

24. യഹോവ എന്റെ ഔഹരി എന്നു എന്റെ ഉള്ളം പറയുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് അവനില് പ്രത്യാശവെക്കുന്നു.

24. The Lord is my portion or share, says my living being (my inner self); therefore will I hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him. [Num. 18:20.]

25. തന്നെ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും തന്നെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവന്നും യഹോവ നല്ലവന് .

25. The Lord is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly for Him, to those who seek Him [inquire of and for Him and require Him by right of necessity and on the authority of God's word].

26. യഹോവയുടെ രക്ഷെക്കായി മിണ്ടാതെ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നതു നല്ലതു.

26. It is good that one should hope in and wait quietly for the salvation (the safety and ease) of the Lord.

27. ബാല്യത്തില് നുകം ചുമക്കുന്നതു ഒരു പുരുഷന്നു നല്ലതു.

27. It is good for a man that he should bear the yoke [of divine disciplinary dealings] in his youth.

28. അവന് അതു അവന്റെ മേല് വെച്ചിരിക്ക കൊണ്ടു അവന് തനിച്ചു മൌനം ആയിരിക്കട്ടെ.

28. Let him sit alone uncomplaining and keeping silent [in hope], because [God] has laid [the yoke] upon him [for his benefit]. [Rom. 8:28.]

29. അവന് തന്റെ മുഖത്തെ പൊടിയോളം താഴ്ത്തട്ടെ; പക്ഷെ പ്രത്യാശ ശേഷിക്കും.

29. Let him put his mouth in the dust [in abject recognition of his unworthiness]--there may yet be hope. [Mic. 7:17.]

30. തന്നെ അടിക്കുന്നവന്നു അവന് കവിള് കാണിക്കട്ടെ; അവന് വേണ്ടുവോളം നിന്ദ അനുഭവിക്കട്ടെ.

30. Let him give his cheek to the One Who smites him [even through His human agents]; let him be filled [full] with [men's] reproach [in meekness].

31. കര്ത്താവു എന്നേക്കും തള്ളിക്കളകയില്ലല്ലോ.

31. For the Lord will not cast off forever! [Ps. 94:14.]

32. അവന് ദുഃഖിപ്പിച്ചാലും തന്റെ മഹാദയെക്കു ഒത്തവണ്ണം അവന്നു കരുണതോന്നും.

32. But though He causes grief, yet will He be moved to compassion according to the multitude of His loving-kindness and tender mercy.

33. മനസ്സോടെയല്ലല്ലോ അവന് മനുഷ്യപുത്രന്മാരെ ദുഃഖിപ്പിച്ചു വ്യസനിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു.

33. For He does not willingly and from His heart afflict or grieve the children of men. [Ezek. 18:23, 32; Hos. 11:8; Heb. 12:5-10; II Pet. 3:9.]

34. ഭൂമിയിലെ സകലബദ്ധന്മാരെയും കാല്കീഴിട്ടു മെതിക്കുന്നതും.

34. To trample and crush underfoot all the prisoners of the earth,

35. അത്യുന്നതന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് മനുഷ്യന്റെ ന്യായം മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നതും.

35. To turn aside and deprive a man of his rights before the face of the Most High or a superior [acting as God's representative],

36. മനുഷ്യനെ വ്യവഹാരത്തില് തെറ്റിച്ചുകളയുന്നതും കര്ത്താവു കാണുകയില്ലയോ?

36. To subvert a man in his cause--[of these things] the Lord does not approve.

37. കര്ത്താവു കല്പിക്കാതെ ആര് പറഞ്ഞിട്ടാകുന്നു വല്ലതും സംഭവിക്കുന്നതു?

37. Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, if the Lord has not authorized and commanded it?

38. അത്യുന്നതന്റെ വായില്നിന്നു നന്മയും തിന്മയും പുറപ്പെടുന്നില്ലയോ?

38. Is it not out of the mouth of the Most High that evil and good both proceed [adversity and prosperity, physical evil or misfortune and physical good or happiness]?

39. മനുഷ്യന് ജീവനുള്ളന്നു നെടുവീര്പ്പിടുന്നതെന്തു? ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ പാപങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു നെടുവീര്പ്പിടട്ടെ.

39. Why does a living man sigh [one who is still in this life's school of discipline]? [And why does] a man complain for the punishment of his sins?

40. നാം നമ്മുടെ നടുപ്പു ആരാഞ്ഞു ശോധനചെയ്തു യഹോവയുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കു തിരിയുക.

40. Let us test and examine our ways, and let us return to the Lord!

41. നാം കൈകളെയും ഹൃദയത്തെയും സ്വര്ഗ്ഗസ്ഥനായ ദൈവത്തിങ്കലേക്കു ഉയര്ത്തുക.

41. Let us lift up our hearts and our hands [and then with them mount up in prayer] to God in heaven:

42. ഞങ്ങള് അതിക്രമം ചെയ്തു മത്സരിച്ചു; നീ ക്ഷമിച്ചതുമില്ല.

42. We have transgressed and rebelled and You have not pardoned.

43. നീ കോപം പുതെച്ചു ഞങ്ങളെ പിന്തുടര്ന്നു, കരുണകൂടാതെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

43. You have covered Yourself with wrath and pursued and afflicted us; You have slain without pity.

44. ഞങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന കടക്കാതവണ്ണം നീ മേഘംകൊണ്ടു നിന്നെത്തന്നേ മറെച്ചു.

44. You have covered Yourself with a cloud so that no prayer can pass through.

45. നീ ഞങ്ങളെ ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില് ചവറും എച്ചിലും ആക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

45. You have made us offscouring and refuse among the nations.

46. ഞങ്ങളുടെ ശത്രുക്കളൊക്കെയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ നേരെ വായ്പിളര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

46. All our enemies have gaped at us and railed against us.

47. പേടിയും കണിയും ശൂന്യവും നാശവും ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

47. Fear and pitfall have come upon us, devastation and destruction.

48. എന്റെ ജനത്തിന് പുത്രിയുടെ നാശംനിമിത്തം നീര്ത്തോടുകള് എന്റെ കണ്ണില്നിന്നൊഴുകുന്നു.

48. My eyes overflow with streams of tears because of the destruction of the daughter of my people.

49. യഹോവ സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില്നിന്നു നോക്കി കടാക്ഷിക്കുവോളം

49. My eyes overflow continually and will not cease

50. എന്റെ കണ്ണു ഇടവിടാതെ പൊഴിക്കുന്നു; ഇളെക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

50. Until the Lord looks down and sees from heaven.

51. എന്റെ നഗരത്തിലെ സകലസ്ത്രീജനത്തെയും കുറിച്ചു എന്റെ കണ്ണു എന്റെ പ്രാണനെ വ്യസനിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

51. My eyes cause me grief at the fate of all the maidens [and the daughter-towns] of my city [Jerusalem].

52. കാരണംകൂടാതെ എന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളായവര് എന്നെ ഒരു പക്ഷിയെപ്പോലെ വേട്ടയാടിയിരിക്കുന്നു;
യോഹന്നാൻ 15:25

52. I have been hunted down like a bird by those who were my enemies without cause.

53. അവര് എന്റെ ജീവനെ കുണ്ടറയില് ഇട്ടു നശിപ്പിച്ചു, എന്റെ മേല് കല്ലു എറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

53. They [thought they had] destroyed my life in the dungeon (pit) and cast a stone [over it] above me. [Jer. 38.]

54. വെള്ളം എന്റെ തലെക്കുമീതെ കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകി; ഞാന് നശിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞു.

54. The waters ran down on my head; I said, I am gone.

55. യഹോവേ, ഞാന് ആഴമുള്ള കുണ്ടറയില്നിന്നു നിന്റെ നാമത്തെ വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

55. I called upon Your name, O Lord, out of the depths [of the mire] of the dungeon. [Jer. 38:6.]

56. എന്റെ നെടുവീര്പ്പിന്നും എന്റെ നിലവിളിക്കും ചെവി പൊത്തിക്കളയരുതേ എന്നുള്ള എന്റെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന നീ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

56. You heard my voice [then]: [Oh] hide not Your ear [now] at my prayer for relief.

57. ഞാന് നിന്നെ വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിച്ച നാളില് നീ അടുത്തുവന്നുഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

57. You drew near on the day I called to You; You said, Fear not. [James 4:8.]

58. കര്ത്താവേ, നീ എന്റെ വ്യവഹാരം നടത്തി, എന്റെ ജീവനെ വീണ്ടെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

58. O Lord, You have pleaded the causes of my soul [You have managed my affairs and You have protected my person and my rights]; You have rescued and redeemed my life!

59. യഹോവേ, ഞാന് അനുഭവിച്ച അന്യായം നീ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ വ്യവഹാരം തീര്ത്തുതരേണമേ.

59. O Lord, You have seen my wrong [done to me]; judge and maintain my cause.

60. അവര് ചെയ്ത സകലപ്രതികാരവും എനിക്കു വിരോധമായുള്ള അവരുടെ സകലനിരൂപണങ്ങളും നീ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

60. You have seen all their vengeance, all their devices against me.

61. യഹോവേ, അവരുടെ നിന്ദയും എനിക്കു വിരോധമായുള്ള അവരുടെ സകലനിരൂപണങ്ങളും

61. You have heard their reproach and revilings, O Lord, and all their devices against me--

62. എന്റെ എതിരികളുടെ വാക്കുകളും ഇടവിടാതെ എനിക്കു വിരോധമായുള്ള നിനവും നീ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

62. The lips and thoughts of my assailants are against me all day long.

63. അവരുടെ ഇരിപ്പും എഴുന്നേല്പും നോക്കേണമേ; ഞാന് അവരുടെ പാട്ടായിരിക്കുന്നു.

63. Look at their sitting down and their rising up [their movements, doings, and secret counsels]; I am their singsong [the subject of their derision and merriment]. [Ps. 139:2; Isa. 37:28.]

64. യഹോവേ, അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തിക്കു തക്കവണ്ണം അവര്ക്കും പകരം ചെയ്യേണമേ;

64. Render to them a recompense, O Lord, according to the work of their hands.

65. നീ അവര്ക്കും ഹൃദയകാഠിന്യം വരുത്തും; നിന്റെ ശാപം അവര്ക്കും വരട്ടെ.

65. You will give them hardness and blindness of heart; Your curse will be upon them.

66. നീ അവരെ കോപത്തോടെ പിന്തുടര്ന്നു, യഹോവയുടെ ആകാശത്തിന് കീഴില്നിന്നു നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളയും.

66. You will pursue and afflict them in anger and destroy them from under Your heavens, O Lord.
