1. യഹോവ പിന്നെയും മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുഅഹരോന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരായ പുരോഹിതന്മാരോടു പറയേണ്ടതെന്തെന്നാല്പുരോഹിതന് തന്റെ ജനത്തില് ഒരുവന്റെ ശവത്താല് തന്നെത്താന് മലിനമാക്കരുതു.

1. THE LORD said to Moses, Speak to the priests [exclusive of the high priest], the sons of Aaron, and say to them that none of them shall defile himself for the dead among his people [by touching a corpse or assisting in preparing it for burial],

2. എന്നാല് തന്റെ അമ്മ, അപ്പന് , മകന് , മകള്, സഹോദരന് ,

2. Except for his near [blood] kin, for his mother, father, son, daughter, brother,

3. തനിക്കടുത്തവളും ഭര്ത്താവില്ലാത്ത കന്യകയുമായ സഹോദരി എന്നിങ്ങിനെയുള്ള ഉററ ചാര്ച്ചക്കാരാല് അവന്നു മലിനനാകാം.

3. And for his sister, a virgin, who is near to him because she has had no husband; for her he may be defiled.

4. അവന് തന്റെ ജനത്തില് പ്രമാണിയായിരിക്കയാല് തന്നെത്താന് മലിനമാക്കി അശുദ്ധനാക്കരുതു.

4. He shall not even defile himself, being a [bereaved] husband [his wife not being his blood kin] or being a chief man among his people, and so profane himself.

5. അവര് തലമുടി വടിക്കയും താടിയുടെ അറ്റം കത്രിക്കയും ശരീരത്തില് മുറിവുണ്ടാക്കുകയും അരുതു;

5. The priests [like the other Israelite men] shall not shave the crown of their heads or clip off the corners of their beard or make any cuttings in their flesh.

6. തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നാമത്തെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കാതെ തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്നു വിശുദ്ധന്മാരായിരിക്കേണം; അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഭോജനമായ യഹോവയുടെ ദഹനയാഗങ്ങള് അര്പ്പിക്കുന്നു; ആകയാല് അവര് വിശുദ്ധന്മാരായിരിക്കേണം.

6. They shall be holy to their God and not profane the name of their God; for they offer the offerings made by fire to the Lord, the bread of their God; therefore they shall be holy.

7. വേശ്യയെയോ ദുര്ന്നടപ്പുകാരത്തിയെയോ അവര് വിവാഹം കഴിക്കരുതു; ഭര്ത്താവു ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞവളെയും വിവാഹം കഴിക്കരുതു; അവന് തന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്നു വിശുദ്ധന് ആകുന്നു.

7. They shall not take a wife who is a harlot or polluted or profane or divorced, for [the priest] is holy to his God.

8. അതുകൊണ്ടു നീ അവനെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കേണം; അവന് നിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഭോജനം അര്പ്പിക്കുന്നവനാകയാല് നീ അവനെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കേണം; അവന് നിനക്കു വിശുദ്ധനായിരിക്കേണം; നിങ്ങളെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയായ ഞാന് വിശുദ്ധന് ആകുന്നു.

8. You shall consecrate him therefore, for he offers the bread of your God; he shall be holy to you, for I the Lord Who sanctifies you am holy.

9. പുരോഹിതന്റെ മകള് ദുര്ന്നടപ്പു ചെയ്തു തന്നെത്താന് അശുദ്ധയാക്കിയാല് അവള് തന്റെ അപ്പനെ അശുദ്ധനാക്കുന്നു; അവളെ തീയില് ഇട്ടു ചുട്ടുകളയേണം.

9. The daughter of any priest who profanes herself by playing the harlot profanes her father; she shall be burned with fire [after being stoned]. [Josh. 7:15, 25.]

10. അഭിഷേകതൈലം തലയില് ഒഴിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനും വസ്ത്രം ധരിപ്പാന് പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനുമായി തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരില് മഹാ പുരോഹിതനായവന് തന്റെ തലമുടി പിച്ചിപ്പറിക്കയും വസ്ത്രം കീറുകയും അരുതു.

10. But he who is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured and who is consecrated to put on the [sacred] garments, shall not let the hair of his head hang loose or rend his clothes [in mourning],

11. അവന് യാതൊരു ശവത്തോടും അടുക്കുകയും തന്റെ അപ്പനാലോ അമ്മയാലോ അശുദ്ധനാകയും അരുതു.

11. Neither shall he go in where any dead body lies nor defile himself [by doing so, even] for his father or for his mother;

12. വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരം വിട്ടു അവന് പുറത്തിറങ്ങുകയും തന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരം അശുദ്ധമാക്കുകയും അരുതു; അവന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അഭിഷേകതൈലമായ സംസ്കാരം അവന്റെ മേല് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

12. Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary nor desecrate or make ceremonially unclean the sanctuary of his God, for the crown or consecration of the anointing oil of his God is upon him. I am the Lord.

13. കന്യകയായ സ്ത്രീയെ മാത്രമേ അവന് വിവാഹം കഴിക്കാവു.

13. He shall take a wife in her virginity.

14. വിധവ, ഉപേക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടവള്, ദുര്ന്നടപ്പുകാരത്തി, വേശ്യ ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവരെ അവന് വിവാഹം കഴിക്കരുതു; സ്വജനത്തിലുള്ള കന്യകയെ മാത്രമേ വിവാഹം കഴിക്കാവു.

14. A widow or a divorced woman or a woman who is polluted or profane or a harlot, these he shall not marry, but he shall take as his wife a virgin of his own people, [I Tim. 3:2-7; Tit. 1:7-9.]

15. അവന് തന്റെ സന്തതിയെ തന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില് അശുദ്ധമാക്കരുതു; ഞാന് അവനെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്ന യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

15. That he may not profane or dishonor his children among his people; for I the Lord do sanctify the high priest.

16. യഹോവ പിന്നെയും മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുനീ അഹരോനോടു പറയേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നാല്

16. And the Lord said to Moses,

17. നിന്റെ സന്തതിയില് അംഗഹീനനായവന് നിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഭോജനം അര്പ്പിപ്പാന് ഒരിക്കലും അടുത്തുവരരുതു.

17. Say to Aaron, Any one of your sons in their successive generations who has any blemish, let him not come near to offer the bread of his God.

18. അംഗഹീനനായ യാതൊരുത്തനും അടുത്തുവരരുതു; കുരുടന് , മുടന്തന് ,

18. For no man who has a blemish shall approach [God's altar to serve as priest], a man blind or lame, or he who has a disfigured face or a limb too long,

19. പതിമക്കൂന് , അധികാംഗന് , കാലൊടിഞ്ഞവന് , കയ്യൊടിഞ്ഞവന് ,

19. Or who has a fractured foot or hand,

20. കൂനന് , മുണ്ടന് , പൂക്കണ്ണന് , ചൊറിയന് , പൊരിച്ചുണങ്ങന് , ഷണ്ഡന് എന്നിങ്ങനെയുള്ളവരും അരുതു.

20. Or is a hunchback, or a dwarf, or has a defect in his eye, or has scurvy or itch, or scabs or skin trouble, or has damaged testicles.

21. പുരോഹിതനായ അഹരോന്റെ സന്തതിയില് അംഗഹീനനായ ഒരുത്തനും യഹോവയുടെ ദഹനയാഗങ്ങള് അര്പ്പിപ്പാന് അടുത്തു വരരുതു; അവന് അംഗഹീനന് ; അവന് തന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഭോജനം അര്പ്പിപ്പാന് അടുത്തുവരരുതു.

21. No man of the offspring of Aaron the priest who has a blemish and is disfigured or deformed shall come near [the altar] to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire. He has a blemish; he shall not come near to offer the bread of his God.

22. തന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഭോജനമായ അതിപിരിശുദ്ധമായവയും വിശുദ്ധമായവയും അവന്നു ഭക്ഷിക്കാം.

22. He may eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy and of the holy things,

23. എങ്കിലും തിരശ്ശീലയുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുകയും യാഗപീഠത്തിങ്കല് അടുത്തുവരികയും അരുതു; അവന് അംഗഹീനനല്ലോ; അവന് എന്റെ വിശുദ്ധസാധനങ്ങളെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കരുതു; ഞാന് അവരെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കുന്ന യഹോവ ആകുന്നു.

23. But he shall not come within the veil or come near the altar [of incense], because he has a blemish, that he may not desecrate and make unclean My sanctuaries and hallowed things; for I the Lord do sanctify them. [Heb. 7:28.]

24. മോശെ ഇതു അഹരോനോടും പുത്രന്മാരോടും എല്ലായിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടും പറഞ്ഞു.

24. And Moses told it to Aaron and to his sons and to all the Israelites.
