1. യഹോവ പിന്നെയും യെരീഹോവിന്നെതിരെ യോര്ദ്ദാന്നരികെ മോവാബ് സമഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു

1. In the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, the LORD spoke to Moses, saying:

2. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് തങ്ങളുടെ അവകാശത്തില്നിന്നു ലേവ്യര്ക്കും വസിപ്പാന് പട്ടങ്ങള് കൊടുക്കേണമെന്നു അവരോടു കല്പിക്ക; പട്ടണങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ അവയുടെ പുല്പുറവും നിങ്ങള് ലേവ്യര്ക്കും കൊടുക്കേണം.

2. Command the Israelites to give, from the inheritance that they possess, towns for the Levites to live in; you shall also give to the Levites pasture lands surrounding the towns.

3. പട്ടണങ്ങള് അവര്ക്കും പാര്പ്പിടമായിരിക്കേണം; അവയുടെ പുല്പുറം ആടുമാടുകള് മുതലായ സകലമൃഗസമ്പത്തിന്നും വേണ്ടി ആയിരിക്കേണം.

3. The towns shall be theirs to live in, and their pasture lands shall be for their cattle, for their livestock, and for all their animals.

4. നിങ്ങള് ലേവ്യര്ക്കും കൊടുക്കേണ്ടുന്ന പുല്പുറം. പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ മതിലിങ്കല് തുടങ്ങിപുറത്തോട്ടു ചുറ്റും ആയിരം മുഴം വിസ്താരം ആയിരിക്കേണം.

4. The pasture lands of the towns, which you shall give to the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the town outward a thousand cubits all around.

5. പട്ടണം നടുവാക്കി അതിന്നു പുറമെ കിഴക്കോട്ടു രണ്ടായിരം മുഴവും തെക്കോട്ടു രണ്ടായിരം മുഴവും പടിഞ്ഞാറോട്ടു രണ്ടായിരം മുഴവും വടക്കോട്ടു രണ്ടായിരം മുഴവും അളക്കേണം; ഇതു അവര്ക്കും പട്ടണങ്ങളുടെ പുല്പുറം ആയിരിക്കേണം.

5. You shall measure, outside the town, for the east side two thousand cubits, for the south side two thousand cubits, for the west side two thousand cubits, and for the north side two thousand cubits, with the town in the middle; this shall belong to them as pasture land for their towns.

6. നിങ്ങള് ലേവ്യര്ക്കും കൊടുക്കുന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങളില് ആറു സങ്കേതനഗരങ്ങളായിരിക്കേണം; കുലചെയ്തവന് അവിടേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് അവയെ അവന്നു വേണ്ടി വേറുതിരിക്കേണം; ഇവകൂടാതെ നിങ്ങള് വേറെയും നാല്പത്തുരണ്ടു പട്ടണങ്ങളെ കൊടുക്കേണം.

6. The towns that you give to the Levites shall include the six cities of refuge, where you shall permit a slayer to flee, and in addition to them you shall give forty-two towns.

7. അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങള് ലേവ്യര്ക്കും കൊടുക്കുന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങള് എല്ലാംകൂടെ നാല്പത്തെട്ടു ആയിരിക്കേണം; അവയും അവയുടെ പുല്പുറങ്ങളും കൊടുക്കേണം.

7. The towns that you give to the Levites shall total forty-eight, with their pasture lands.

8. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ അവകാശത്തില്നിന്നു ജനമേറിയവര് ഏറെയും ജനം കുറഞ്ഞവര് കുറെയും പട്ടണങ്ങള് കൊടുക്കേണം; ഔരോ ഗോത്രം തനിക്കു ലഭിക്കുന്ന അവകാശത്തിന്നു ഒത്തവണ്ണം ലേവ്യര്ക്കും പട്ടണങ്ങളെ കൊടുക്കേണം.

8. And as for the towns that you shall give from the possession of the Israelites, from the larger tribes you shall take many, and from the smaller tribes you shall take few; each, in proportion to the inheritance that it obtains, shall give of its towns to the Levites.

9. യഹോവ പിന്നെയും മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു

9. The LORD spoke to Moses, saying:

10. നീ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടു പറയേണ്ടതെന്തെന്നാല്നിങ്ങള് യോര്ദ്ദാന് കടന്നു കനാന് ദേശത്തു എത്തിയശേഷം

10. Speak to the Israelites, and say to them: When you cross the Jordan into the land of Canaan,

11. ചില പട്ടണങ്ങള് സങ്കേതനഗരങ്ങളായി വേറുതിരിക്കേണം; അബദ്ധവശാല് ഒരുത്തനെ കൊന്നുപോയവന് അവിടേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോകേണം.

11. then you shall select cities to be cities of refuge for you, so that a slayer who kills a person without intent may flee there.

12. കുലചെയ്തവന് സഭയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ വിസ്താരത്തിന്നു നിലക്കുംവരെ അവന് പ്രതികാരകന്റെ കയ്യാല് മരിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവ സങ്കേതനഗരങ്ങള് ആയിരിക്കേണം.

12. The cities shall be for you a refuge from the avenger, so that the slayer may not die until there is a trial before the congregation.

13. നിങ്ങള് കൊടുക്കുന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങളില് ആറെണ്ണം സങ്കേതനഗരം ആയിരിക്കേണം.

13. The cities that you designate shall be six cities of refuge for you:

14. യോര്ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ മൂന്നുപട്ടണവും കനാന് ദേശത്തു മൂന്നു പട്ടണവും കൊടുക്കേണം; അവ സങ്കേതനഗരങ്ങള് ആയിരിക്കേണം.

14. you shall designate three cities beyond the Jordan, and three cities in the land of Canaan, to be cities of refuge.

15. അബദ്ധവശാല് ഒരുത്തനെ കൊല്ലുന്നവന് ഏവനും അവിടേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോകേണ്ടതിന്നു ഈ ആറുപട്ടണം യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള്ക്കും പരദേശിക്കും വന്നുപാര്ക്കുംന്നവന്നും സങ്കേതം ആയിരിക്കേണം.

15. These six cities shall serve as refuge for the Israelites, for the resident or transient alien among them, so that anyone who kills a person without intent may flee there.

16. എന്നാല് ആരെങ്കിലും ഇരുമ്പായുധംകൊണ്ടു ഒരുത്തനെ അടിച്ചിട്ടു അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയാല് അവന് കുലപാതകന് ; കുലപാതകന് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.

16. But anyone who strikes another with an iron object, and death ensues, is a murderer; the murderer shall be put to death.

17. മരിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരുത്തനെ കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയാല് അവന് കുലപാതകന് ; കുലപാതകന് മരണ ശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.

17. Or anyone who strikes another with a stone in hand that could cause death, and death ensues, is a murderer; the murderer shall be put to death.

18. അല്ലെങ്കില് മരിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം ആരെങ്കിലും കയ്യിലിരുന്ന മരയായുധംകൊണ്ടു ഒരുത്തനെ അടിച്ചിട്ടു അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയാല് അവന് കുലപാതകന് ; കുലപാതകന് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.

18. Or anyone who strikes another with a weapon of wood in hand that could cause death, and death ensues, is a murderer; the murderer shall be put to death.

19. രക്തപ്രതികാരകന് തന്നേ കുലപാതകനെ കൊല്ലേണം; അവനെ കണ്ടുകൂടുമ്പോള് അവനെ കൊല്ലേണം.

19. The avenger of blood is the one who shall put the murderer to death; when they meet, the avenger of blood shall execute the sentence.

20. ആരെങ്കിലും ദ്വേഷംനിമിത്തം ഒരുത്തനെ കുത്തുകയോ കരുതിക്കൂട്ടി അവന്റെമേല് വല്ലതും എറികയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടു അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയാല്,

20. Likewise, if someone pushes another from hatred, or hurls something at another, lying in wait, and death ensues,

21. അല്ലെങ്കില് ശത്രുതയാല് കൈകൊണ്ടു അവനെ അടിച്ചിട്ടു അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയാല് അവനെ കൊന്നവന് മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം. അവന് കുലപാതകന് ; രക്തപ്രതികാരകന് കുലപാതകനെ കണ്ടുകൂടുമ്പോള് കൊന്നുകളയേണം.

21. or in enmity strikes another with the hand, and death ensues, then the one who struck the blow shall be put to death; that person is a murderer; the avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death, when they meet.

22. എന്നാല് ആരെങ്കിലും ശത്രുതകൂടാതെ പെട്ടെന്നു ഒരുത്തനെ കുത്തുകയോ കരുതാതെ വല്ലതും അവന്റെ മേല് എറിഞ്ഞുപോകയോ,

22. But if someone pushes another suddenly without enmity, or hurls any object without lying in wait,

23. അവന്നു ശത്രുവായിരിക്കാതെയും അവന്നു ദോഷം വിചാരിക്കാതെയും അവന് മരിപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അവനെ കാണാതെ കല്ലു എറികയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടു അവന് മരിച്ചു പോയാല്

23. or, while handling any stone that could cause death, unintentionally drops it on another and death ensues, though they were not enemies, and no harm was intended,

24. കുലചെയ്തവന്നും രക്തപ്രതികാരകന്നും മദ്ധ്യേ ഈ ന്യായങ്ങളെ അനുസരിച്ചു സഭ വിധിക്കേണം.

24. then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the avenger of blood, in accordance with these ordinances;

25. കുലചെയ്തവനെ സഭ രക്തപ്രതികാരകന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു രക്ഷിക്കേണം; അവന് ഔടിപ്പോയിരുന്ന സങ്കേതനഗരത്തിലേക്കു അവനെ മടക്കി അയക്കേണം; വിശുദ്ധതൈലത്താല് അഭിഷിക്തനായ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ മരണംവരെ അവന് അവിടെ പാര്ക്കേണം.

25. and the congregation shall rescue the slayer from the avenger of blood. Then the congregation shall send the slayer back to the original city of refuge. The slayer shall live in it until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil.

26. എന്നാല് കുലചെയ്തവന് ഔടിപ്പോയിരുന്ന സങ്കേതനഗരത്തിന്റെ അതിര് വിട്ടു പുറത്തു വരികയും

26. But if the slayer shall at any time go outside the bounds of the original city of refuge,

27. അവനെ അവന്റെ സങ്കേതനഗരത്തിന്റെ അതിരിന്നു പുറത്തുവെച്ചു കണ്ടു രക്തപ്രതികാരകന് കുലചെയ്തവനെ കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്താല് അവന്നു രക്തപാതകം ഇല്ല.

27. and is found by the avenger of blood outside the bounds of the city of refuge, and is killed by the avenger, no bloodguilt shall be incurred.

28. അവന് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ മരണംവരെ തന്റെ സങ്കേതനഗരത്തില് പാര്ക്കേണ്ടിയിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് കുലചെയ്തവന്നു മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ മരണശേഷം തന്റെ അവകാശഭൂമിയിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകാം.

28. For the slayer must remain in the city of refuge until the death of the high priest; but after the death of the high priest the slayer may return home.

29. ഇതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തലമുറതലമുറയായി നിങ്ങളുടെ സകലവാസസ്ഥലങ്ങളിലും ന്യായവിധിക്കുള്ള പ്രമാണം ആയിരിക്കേണം.

29. These things shall be a statute and ordinance for you throughout your generations wherever you live.

30. ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരുത്തനെ കൊന്നാല് കുലപാതകന് സാക്ഷികളുടെ വാമൊഴിപ്രകാരം മരണശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കേണം; എന്നാല് ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്റെ നേരെ മരണശിക്ഷെക്കു ഏകസാക്ഷിയുടെ മൊഴി മതിയാകുന്നതല്ല.

30. If anyone kills another, the murderer shall be put to death on the evidence of witnesses; but no one shall be put to death on the testimony of a single witness.

31. മരണയോഗ്യനായ കുലപാതകന്റെ ജീവന്നുവേണ്ടി നിങ്ങള് വീണ്ടെടുപ്പു വില വാങ്ങരുതു; അവന് മരണശിക്ഷ തന്നേ അനുഭവിക്കേണം.

31. Moreover you shall accept no ransom for the life of a murderer who is subject to the death penalty; a murderer must be put to death.

32. സങ്കേതനഗരത്തിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയവന് പുരോഹിതന്റെ മരണത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ നാട്ടില് മടങ്ങിവന്നു പാര്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും നിങ്ങള് വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുവില വാങ്ങരുതു.

32. Nor shall you accept ransom for one who has fled to a city of refuge, enabling the fugitive to return to live in the land before the death of the high priest.

33. നിങ്ങള് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന ദേശം അങ്ങനെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കരുതു; രക്തം ദേശത്തെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു; ദേശത്തില് ചൊരിഞ്ഞ രക്തത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി രക്തം ചൊരിയിച്ചവന്റെ രക്തത്താല് അല്ലാതെ ദേശത്തിന്നു പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം സാദ്ധമല്ല.

33. You shall not pollute the land in which you live; for blood pollutes the land, and no expiation can be made for the land, for the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of the one who shed it.

34. അതു കൊണ്ടു ഞാന് അധിവസിക്കുന്ന നിങ്ങളുടെ പാര്പ്പിടമായ ദേശം അശുദ്ധമാക്കരുതു; യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ യഹോവയായ ഞാന് അധിവസിക്കുന്നു.

34. You shall not defile the land in which you live, in which I also dwell; for I the LORD dwell among the Israelites.
