1. ആ ദിവസങ്ങളില് ഒന്നില് അവന് ദൈവാലയത്തില് ജനത്തോടു ഉപദേശിച്ചു സുവിശേഷം അറിയിക്കുമ്പോള് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരുമായി അടുത്തു വന്നു അവനോടു

1. ONE DAY as Jesus was instructing the people in the temple [porches] and preaching the good news (the Gospel), the chief priests and the scribes came up with the elders (members of the Sanhedrin)

2. നീ എന്തു അധികാരംകൊണ്ടു ഇതു ചെയ്യുന്നു? ഈ അധികാരം നിനക്കു തന്നതു ആര്? ഞങ്ങളോടു പറക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. And said to Him, Tell us by what [sort of] authority You are doing these things? Or who is it who gave You this authority?

3. അതിന്നു ഉത്തരമായി അവന് ഞാനും നിങ്ങളോടു ഒരു വാക്കു ചോദിക്കും; അതു എന്നോടു പറവിന് .

3. He replied to them, I will also ask you a question. Now answer Me:

4. യോഹന്നാന്റെ സ്നാനം സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില്നിന്നോ മനുഷ്യരില്നിന്നോ ഉണ്ടായതു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

4. Was the baptism of John from heaven, or from men?

5. അവര് തമ്മില് നിരൂപിച്ചുസ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് നിന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാല് പിന്നെ നിങ്ങള് അവനെ വിശ്വസിക്കാഞ്ഞതു എന്തു എന്നു അവന് ചോദിക്കും.

5. And they argued and discussed [it] and reasoned together with themselves, saying, If we reply, From heaven, He will say, Why then did you not believe him?

6. മനുഷ്യരില്നിന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാലോ ജനം ഒക്കെയും യോഹന്നാന് ഒരു പ്രവാചകന് എന്നു ഉറെച്ചിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു നമ്മെ കല്ലെറിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു

6. But if we answer, From men, all the people will stone us to death, for they are long since firmly convinced that John was a prophet.

7. എവിടെനിന്നോ ഞങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നില്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

7. So they replied that they did not know from where it came.

8. യേശു അവരോടുഎന്നാല് ഞാന് ഇതു ചെയ്യുന്നതു ഇന്ന അധികാരം കൊണ്ടാകുന്നു എന്നുള്ളതു ഞാനും നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. Then Jesus said to them, Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.

9. അനന്തരം അവന് ജനത്തോടു ഉപമ പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്ഒരു മനുഷ്യന് ഒരു മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം നട്ടുണ്ടാക്കി കുടിയാന്മാരെ പാട്ടത്തിന്നു ഏല്പിച്ചിട്ടു ഏറിയ കാലം പരദേശത്തു പോയി പാര്ത്തു.

9. Then He began to relate to the people this parable (this story to figuratively portray what He had to say): A man planted a vineyard and leased it to some vinedressers and went into another country for a long stay. [Isa. 5:1-7.]

10. സമയമായപ്പോള് കുടിയാന്മാരോടു തോട്ടത്തിന്റെ അനുഭവം വാങ്ങേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് ഒരു ദാസനെ അയച്ചു; അവനെ കുടിയാന്മാര് തല്ലി വെറുതെ അയച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

10. When the [right] season came, he sent a bond servant to the tenants, that they might give him [his part] of the fruit of the vineyard; but the tenants beat (thrashed) him and sent him away empty-handed.

11. അവന് മറ്റൊരു ദാസനെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു; അവനെയും അവര് തല്ലി അപമാനിച്ചു വെറുതെ അയച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

11. And he sent still another servant; him they also beat (thrashed) and dishonored and insulted him disgracefully and sent him away empty-handed.

12. അവന് മൂന്നാമതു ഒരുത്തനെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു; അവര് അവനെയും മുറിവേല്പിച്ചു പുറത്താക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

12. And he sent yet a third; this one they wounded and threw out [of the vineyard].

13. അപ്പോള് മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിന്റെ ഉടമസ്ഥന് ഞാന് എന്തു ചെയ്യേണ്ടു? എന്റെ പ്രിയ പുത്രനെ അയക്കും; പക്ഷേ അവര് അവനെ ശങ്കിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. Then the owner of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; it is probable that they will respect him.

14. കുടിയാന്മാര് അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടുഇവന് അവകാശി; അവകാശം നമുക്കു ആകേണ്ടതിന്നു നാം അവനെ കൊന്നുകളക എന്നു തമ്മില് ആലോചിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. But when the tenants saw him, they argued among themselves, saying, This is the heir; let us kill him, so that the inheritance may be ours.

15. അവര് അവനെ തോട്ടത്തില് നിന്നു പുറത്താക്കി കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു. എന്നാല് തോട്ടത്തിന്റെ ഉടമസ്ഥന് അവരോടു എന്തു ചെയ്യും?

15. So they drove him out of the vineyard and killed him. What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them?

16. അവന് വന്നു ആ കുടിയാന്മാരെ നിഗ്രഹിച്ചു തോട്ടം അന്യന്മാര്ക്കും ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കും. അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു അവര് അങ്ങനെ ഒരുനാളും സംഭവിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. He will come and [utterly] put an end to those tenants and will give the vineyard to others. When they [the chief priests and the scribes and the elders] heard this, they said, May it never be!

17. അവനോ അവരെ നോക്കി“എന്നാല് വീടുപണിയുന്നവര് തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞ കല്ലു മൂലക്കല്ലായിത്തീര്ന്നു” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു?

17. But [Jesus] looked at them and said, What then is [the meaning of] this that is written: The [very] Stone which the builders rejected has become the chief Stone of the corner [Cornerstone]? [Ps. 118:22, 23.]

18. ആ കല്ലിന്മേല് വീഴുന്ന ഏവനും തകര്ന്നുപോകും; അതു ആരുടെ മേല് എങ്കിലും വീണാല് അവനെ ധൂളിപ്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. Everyone who falls on that Stone will be broken [in pieces]; but upon whomever It falls, It will crush him [winnow him and scatter him as dust]. [Isa. 8:14, 15; Dan. 2:34, 35.]

19. ഈ ഉപമ തങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ഗ്രഹിച്ചിട്ടു ആ നാഴികയില് തന്നേ അവന്റെ മേല് കൈവെപ്പാന് നോക്കി എങ്കിലും ജനത്തെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.

19. The scribes and the chief priests desired and tried to find a way to arrest Him at that very hour, but they were afraid of the people; for they discerned that He had related this parable against them.

20. പിന്നെ അവര് അവനെ നാടുവാഴിയുടെ അധീനതയിലും അധികാരത്തിലും ഏല്പിപ്പാന്തക്കവണ്ണം അവനെ വാക്കില് പിടിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തക്കം നോക്കി നീതിമാന്മാര് എന്നു നടിക്കുന്ന ഒറ്റുകാരെ അയച്ചു.

20. So they watched [for an opportunity to ensnare] Him, and sent spies who pretended to be upright (honest and sincere), that they might lay hold of something He might say, so as to turn Him over to the control and authority of the governor.

21. അവര് അവനോടുഗുരോ, നീ നേര് പറഞ്ഞു ഉപദേശിക്കയും മുഖപക്ഷം നോക്കാതെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വഴി യഥാര്ത്ഥമായി പഠിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നു.

21. They asked Him, Teacher, we know that You speak and teach what is right, and that You show no partiality to anyone but teach the way of God honestly and in truth.

22. നാം കൈസര്ക്കും കരം കൊടുക്കുന്നതു വിഹിതമോ അല്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

22. Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Caesar or not?

23. അവരുടെ ഉപായം ഗ്രഹിച്ചിട്ടു അവന് അവരോടുഒരു വെള്ളിക്കാശ് കാണിപ്പിന് ;

23. But He recognized and understood their cunning and unscrupulousness and said to them,

24. അതിനുള്ള സ്വരൂപവും മേലെഴുത്തും ആരുടേതു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുകൈസരുടേതു എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

24. Show Me a denarius (a coin)! Whose image and inscription does it have? They answered, Caesar's.

25. എന്നാല് കൈസര്ക്കുംള്ളതു കൈസര്ക്കും ദൈവത്തിന്നുള്ളതു ദൈവത്തിന്നും കൊടുപ്പിന് എന്നു അവന് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

25. He said to them, Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.

26. അങ്ങനെ അവര് ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് വെച്ചു അവനെ വാക്കില് പിടിപ്പാന് കഴിയാതെ അവന്റെ ഉത്തരത്തില് ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു മിണ്ടാതിരുന്നു.

26. So they could not in the presence of the people take hold of anything He said to turn it against Him; but marveling at His reply, they were silent.

27. പുനരുത്ഥാനം ഇല്ല എന്നു പറയുന്ന സദൂക്യരില് ചിലര് അടുത്തു വന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചതു

27. Also there came to Him some Sadducees, those who say that there is no resurrection.

28. ഗുരോ, ഒരുത്തന്റെ സഹോദരന് വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചിട്ടു മക്കളില്ലാതെ മരിച്ചുപോയാല് അവന്റെ സഹോദരന് അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചു സഹോദരന്നു സന്തതിയെ ജനിപ്പിക്കേണം എന്നു മോശെ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

28. And they asked Him a question, saying, Teacher, Moses wrote for us [a law] that if a man's brother dies, leaving a wife and no children, the man shall take the woman and raise up offspring for his brother. [Deut. 25:5, 6.]

29. എന്നാല് ഏഴു സഹോദരന്മാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവരില് ഒന്നാമത്തവന് ഒരു സ്ത്രീയെ വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു മക്കളില്ലാതെ മരിച്ചുപോയി.

29. Now there were seven brothers; and the first took a wife and died without [having any] children.

30. രണ്ടാമത്തവനും മൂന്നാമത്തവനും അവളെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

30. And the second

31. അവ്വണ്ണം ഏഴുപേരും ചെയ്തു മക്കളില്ലാതെ മരിച്ചുപോയി.

31. And then the third took her, and in like manner all seven, and they died, leaving no children.

32. ഒടുവില് സ്ത്രീയും മരിച്ചു.

32. Last of all, the woman died also.

33. എന്നാല് പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തില് അവള് അവരില് ഏവന്നു ഭാര്യയാകും? ഏഴുവര്ക്കും ഭാര്യയായിരുന്നുവല്ലോ.

33. Now in the resurrection whose wife will the woman be? For the seven married her.

34. അതിന്നു യേശു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതുഈ ലോകത്തിന്റെ മക്കള് വിവാഹം കഴിക്കയും വിവാഹത്തിന്നു കൊടുക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

34. And Jesus said to them, The people of this world and present age marry and are given in marriage;

35. എങ്കിലും ആ ലോകത്തിന്നും മരിച്ചവരില് നിന്നുള്ള പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തിന്നും യോഗ്യരായവര് വിവാഹം കഴിയക്കയുമില്ല വിവാഹത്തിന്നു കൊടുക്കപ്പെടുകയുമില്ല; അവര്ക്കും ഇനി മരിപ്പാനും കഴികയില്ല.

35. But those who are considered worthy to gain that other world and that future age and to attain to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage;

36. അവന് പുനരുത്ഥാനപുത്രന്മാരാകയാല് ദൈവദൂതതുല്യരും ദൈവ പുത്രന്മാരും ആകുന്നു.

36. For they cannot die again, but they are angel-like and equal to angels. And being sons of and sharers in the resurrection, they are sons of God.

37. മരിച്ചവര് ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേലക്കുന്നു എന്നതോ മോശെയും മുള്പ്പടര്പ്പുഭാഗത്തു കര്ത്താവിനെ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവവും യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ ദൈവവും യാക്കോബിന്റെ ദൈവവും എന്നു പറയുന്നതിനാല് സൂചിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

37. But that the dead are raised [from death]--even Moses made known and showed in the passage concerning the [burning] bush, where he calls the Lord, The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. [Exod. 3:6.]

38. ദൈവമോ മരിച്ചവരുടെ ദൈവമല്ല, ജീവനുള്ളവരുടെ ദൈവമത്രേ; എല്ലാവരും അവന്നു ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

38. Now He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to Him all men are alive [whether in the body or out of it] and they are alive [not dead] unto Him [in definite relationship to Him].

39. അതിന്നു ചില ശാസ്ത്രിമാര്ഗുരോ, നീ പറഞ്ഞതു ശരി എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

39. And some of the scribes replied, Teacher, you have spoken well and expertly [so that there is no room for blame].

40. പിന്നെ അവനോടു ഒന്നും ചോദിപ്പാന് അവര് തുനിഞ്ഞതുമില്ല.

40. For they did not dare to question Him further.

41. എന്നാല് അവന് അവരോടുക്രിസ്തു ദാവീദിന്റെ പുത്രന് എന്നു പറയുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ?

41. But He asked them, How can people say that the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) is David's Son?

42. “കര്ത്താവു എന്റെ കര്ത്താവിനോടുഞാന് നിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ നിന്റെ പാദ പീഠമാക്കുവോളം എന്റെ വലത്തുഭാഗത്തിരിക്ക എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു”

42. For David himself says in [the] Book of Psalms, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand

43. എന്നു സങ്കീര്ത്തനപുസ്തകത്തില് ദാവീദ് തന്നേ പറയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

43. Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet. [Ps. 110:1.]

44. ദാവീദ് അവനെ കര്ത്താവു എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നു; പിന്നെ അവന്റെ പുത്രന് ആകുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

44. So David calls Him Lord; how then is He his Son?

45. എന്നാല് ജനം ഒക്കെയും കേള്ക്കെ അവന് തന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടു

45. And with all the people listening, He said to His disciples,

46. നിലയങ്കികളോടെ നടപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കയും അങ്ങാടിയില് വന്ദനവും പള്ളിയില് മുഖ്യാസനവും അത്താഴത്തില് പ്രധാനസ്ഥലവും പ്രിയപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ശാസ്ത്രിമാരെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് .

46. Beware of the scribes, who like to walk about in long robes and love to be saluted [with honor] in places where people congregate and love the front and best seats in the synagogues and places of distinction at feasts,

47. അവര് വിധവമാരുടെ വീടുകളെ വിഴുങ്ങുകയും ഉപായരൂപേണ ദീര്ഘമായി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; അവര്ക്കും ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ശിക്ഷാവിധിവരും.

47. Who make away with and devour widows' houses, and [to cover it up] with pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation (the heavier sentence, the severer punishment).
