1. നിങ്ങള് എഴുതി അയച്ച സംഗതികളെക്കുറിച്ചു എന്റെ അഭിപ്രായം എന്തെന്നാല്സ്ത്രീയെ തൊടാതിരിക്കുന്നതു മനുഷ്യന്നു നല്ലതു.

1. Now concerning the things whereof you wrote to me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

2. എങ്കിലും ദുര്ന്നടപ്പുനിമിത്തം ഔരോരുത്തന്നു സ്വന്തഭാര്യ്യയും ഔരോരുത്തിക്കു സ്വന്തഭര്ത്താവും ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

2. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

3. ഭര്ത്താവു ഭാര്യ്യക്കും ഭാര്യ്യ ഭര്ത്താവിന്നും കടംപെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നതു ചെയ്യട്ടെ.

3. Let the husband render to the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife to the husband.

4. ഭര്യ്യയുടെ ശരീരത്തിന്മേല് അവള്ക്കല്ല ഭര്ത്താവിന്നത്രേ അധികാരമുള്ളതു; അങ്ങനെ ഭര്ത്താവിന്റെ ശരീരത്തിന്മേല് അവന്നല്ല ഭാര്യ്യെക്കത്രേ അധികാരം.

4. The wife has not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband has not power of his own body, but the wife.

5. പ്രാര്ത്ഥനെക്കു അവസരമുണ്ടാവാന് ഒരു സമയത്തേക്കു പരസ്പരസമ്മതത്തോടെ അല്ലാതെ തമ്മില് വേറുപെട്ടിരിക്കരുതു; നിങ്ങളുടെ അജിതേന്ദ്രിയത്വം നിമിത്തം സാത്താന് നിങ്ങളെ പരീക്ഷിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വീണ്ടും ചേര്ന്നിരിപ്പിന് .

5. Defraud you not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

6. ഞാന് ഇതു കല്പനയായിട്ടല്ല അനുവാദമായിട്ടത്രേ പറയുന്നതു.

6. But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.

7. സകല മനുഷ്യരും എന്നെപ്പോലെ ആയിരിക്കേണം എന്നു ഞാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു. എങ്കിലും ഒരുവന്നു ഇങ്ങനെയും ഒരുവന്നു അങ്ങനെയും താന്താന്റെ കൃപാവരം ദൈവം നല്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

7. For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man has his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.

8. വിവാഹം കഴിയാത്തവരോടും വിധവമാരോടുംഅവര് എന്നെപ്പോലെ പാര്ത്തുകൊണ്ടാല് അവര്ക്കും കൊള്ളാം എന്നു ഞാന് പറയുന്നു.

8. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.

9. ജിതേന്ദ്രിയത്വമില്ലെങ്കിലോ അവര് വിവാഹം ചെയ്യട്ടെ; അഴലുന്നതിനെക്കാള് വിവാഹം ചെയ്യുന്നതു നല്ലതു.

9. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

10. വിവാഹം കഴിഞ്ഞവരോടോ ഞാനല്ല കര്ത്താവു തന്നേ കല്പിക്കുന്നതു

10. And to the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:

11. ഭാര്യ്യ ഭര്ത്താവിനെ വേറുപിരിയരുതു; പിരിഞ്ഞു എന്നു വരികിലോ വിവാഹംകൂടാതെ പാര്ക്കേണം; അല്ലെന്നു വരികില് ഭര്ത്താവോടു നിരന്നുകൊള്ളേണം; ഭര്ത്താവു ഭാര്യ്യയെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കയുമരുതു.

11. But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

12. എന്നാല് ശേഷമുള്ളവരോടു കര്ത്താവല്ല ഞാന് തന്നേ പറയുന്നതുഒരു സഹോദരന്നു അവിശ്വാസിയായ ഭാര്യ്യ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കയും അവള് അവനോടുകൂടെ പാര്പ്പാന് സമ്മതിക്കയും ചെയ്താല് അവളെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു.

12. But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother has a wife that believes not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.

13. അവിശ്വസിയായ ഭര്ത്താവുള്ള ഒരു സ്ത്രീയും, അവന് അവളോടുകൂടെ പാര്പ്പാന് സമ്മതിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്, ഭര്ത്താവിനെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു.

13. And the woman which has an husband that believes not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.

14. അവിശ്വാസിയായ ഭര്ത്താവു ഭാര്യ്യ മുഖാന്തരം വിശുദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടും അവിശ്വാസിയായ ഭാര്യ്യ സഹോദരന് മുഖാന്തരം വിശുദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടുമിരിക്കുന്നു; അല്ലെങ്കില് നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കള് അശുദ്ധര് എന്നു വരും; ഇപ്പോഴോ അവര് വിശുദ്ധര് ആകുന്നു.

14. For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

15. അവിശ്വാസി വേറുപിരിയുന്നു എങ്കില് പിരിയട്ടെ; ഈ വകയില് സഹോദരനോ സഹോദരിയോ ബദ്ധരായിരിക്കുന്നില്ല; എന്നാല് സമാധാനത്തില് ജീവിപ്പാന് ദൈവം നമ്മെ വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

15. But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God has called us to peace.

16. സ്ത്രീയേ, നീ ഭര്ത്താവിന്നു രക്ഷവരുത്തും എന്നു നിനക്കു എങ്ങനെ അറിയാം? പുരുഷാ, നീ ഭാര്യ്യെക്കു രക്ഷ വരുത്തും എന്നു നിനക്കു എങ്ങനെ അറിയാം?

16. For what know you, O wife, whether you shall save your husband? or how know you, O man, whether you shall save your wife?

17. എന്നാല് ഔരോരുത്തന്നു കര്ത്താവു വിഭാഗിച്ചുകൊടുത്തതുപോലെയും ഔരോരുത്തനെ ദൈവം വിളിച്ചതുപോലെയും അവനവന് നടക്കട്ടെ; ഇങ്ങനെ ആകുന്നു ഞാന് സകല സഭകളിലും ആജ്ഞാപിക്കുന്നതു.

17. But as God has distributed to every man, as the Lord has called every one, so let him walk. And so ordain I in all churches.

18. ഒരുത്തന് പരിച്ഛേദനയോടെ വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടുവോ? അഗ്രചര്മ്മം വരുത്തരുതു; ഒരുത്തന് അഗ്രചര്മ്മത്തോടെ വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടുവോ? പരിച്ഛേദന ഏല്ക്കരുതു.

18. Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised.

19. പരിച്ഛേദന ഒന്നുമില്ല, അഗ്രചര്മ്മവും ഒന്നുമില്ല, ദൈവകല്പന പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നതത്രേ കാര്യ്യം.

19. Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.

20. ഔരോരുത്തന് വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ട സ്ഥിതിയില് തന്നേ വസിച്ചുകൊള്ളട്ടെ.

20. Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.

21. നീ ദാസനായി വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടുവോ? വ്യസനിക്കരുതു. സ്വതന്ത്രന് ആകുവാന് കഴിയുമെങ്കിലും അതില് തന്നേ ഇരുന്നുകൊള്ക.

21. Are you called being a servant? care not for it: but if you may be made free, use it rather.

22. ദാസനായി കര്ത്താവില് വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന് കര്ത്താവിന്റെ സ്വതന്ത്രന് ആകുന്നു. അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ സ്വതന്ത്രനായി വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടവന് ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ദാസനാകുന്നു.

22. For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant.

23. നിങ്ങളെ വിലെക്കുവാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും ദാസന്മാരാകരുതു.

23. You are bought with a price; be not you the servants of men.

24. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഔരോരുത്തന് വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ട സ്ഥിതിയില് തന്നേ ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് വസിക്കട്ടെ.

24. Brothers, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God.

25. കന്യകമാരെക്കുറിച്ചു എനിക്കു കര്ത്താവിന്റെ കല്പനയില്ല; എങ്കിലും വിശ്വസ്തന് ആകുവാന്തക്കവണ്ണം കര്ത്താവിന്റെ കരുണ ലഭിച്ചവനായി ഞാന് അഭിപ്രായം പറയുന്നു.

25. Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that has obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.

26. ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ കഷ്ടത നിമിത്തം ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ മനുഷ്യന് അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ഇരിക്കുന്നതു അവന്നു നന്നു എന്നു എനിക്കു തോന്നുന്നു.

26. I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be.

27. നീ ഭാര്യ്യയോടു ബന്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നുവോ? വേറുപാടു അന്വേഷിക്കരുതു. നീ ഭാര്യ്യ ഇല്ലാത്തവനോ? ഭാര്യ്യയെ അന്വേഷിക്കരുതു.

27. Are you bound to a wife? seek not to be loosed. Are you loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.

28. നീ വിവാഹം ചെയ്താലും ദോഷമില്ല; കന്യകയും വിവാഹം ചെയ്താല് ദോഷമില്ല; എങ്കിലും ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവര്ക്കും ജഡത്തില് കഷ്ടത ഉണ്ടാകും; അതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വരരുതു എന്നു എന്റെ ആഗ്രഹം.

28. But and if you marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she has not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.

29. എന്നാല് സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഇതൊന്നു ഞാന് പറയുന്നുകാലം ചുരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു;

29. But this I say, brothers, the time is short: it remains, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;

30. ഇനി ഭാര്യ്യമാരുള്ളവര് ഇല്ലാത്തവരെപ്പോലെയും കരയുന്നവര് കരയാത്തവരെപ്പോലെയും സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നവര് സന്തോഷിക്കാത്തവരെപ്പോലെയും വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങുന്നവര് കൈവശമാക്കാത്തവരെപ്പോലെയും

30. And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;

31. ലോകത്തെ അനുഭവിക്കുന്നവര് അതിനെ അനുഭവിക്കാത്തവരെപ്പോലെയും ആയിരിക്കേണം. ഈ ലോകത്തിന്റെ രൂപം ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നുവല്ലോ.

31. And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passes away.

32. നിങ്ങള് ചിന്താകുലമില്ലാത്തവരായിരിക്കേണം എന്നു ഞാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നു. വിവാഹം ചെയ്യാത്തവന് കര്ത്താവിനെ എങ്ങനെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കും എന്നുവെച്ചു കര്ത്താവിന്നുള്ളതു ചിന്തിക്കുന്നു;

32. But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried cares for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:

33. വിവാഹം ചെയ്തവന് ഭാര്യ്യയെ എങ്ങനെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കും എന്നുവെച്ചു ലോകത്തിന്നുള്ളതു ചിന്തിക്കുന്നു.

33. But he that is married cares for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.

34. അതുപോലെ ഭാര്യ്യയായവള്ക്കും കന്യകെക്കും തമ്മില് വ്യത്യാസം ഉണ്ടു. വിവാഹം കഴിയാത്തവള് ശരീരത്തിലും ആത്മാവിലും വിശുദ്ധയാകേണ്ടതിന്നു കര്ത്താവിന്നുള്ളതു ചിന്തിക്കുന്നു; വിവാഹം കഴിഞ്ഞവള് ഭര്ത്താവിനെ എങ്ങനെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കും എന്നുവെച്ചു ലോകത്തിന്നുള്ളതു ചിന്തിക്കുന്നു.

34. There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married cares for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.

35. ഞാന് ഇതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു കുടുക്കിടുവാനല്ല, യോഗ്യത വിചാരിച്ചും നിങ്ങള് ചാപല്യം കൂടാതെ കര്ത്താവിങ്കല് സ്ഥിരമായ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉപകാരത്തിന്നായിട്ടത്രേ പറയുന്നതു.

35. And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare on you, but for that which is comely, and that you may attend on the Lord without distraction.

36. എന്നാല് ഒരുത്തന് തന്റെ കന്യകെക്കു പ്രായം കടന്നാല് താന് ചെയ്യുന്നതു അയോഗ്യം എന്നു നിരൂപിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് അങ്ങനെ വേണ്ടിവന്നാല് ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ചെയ്യട്ടെ; അവന് ദോഷം ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല; അവര് വിവാഹം ചെയ്യട്ടെ.

36. But if any man think that he behaves himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sins not: let them marry.

37. എങ്കിലും നിര്ബ്ബന്ധമില്ലാതെ തന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം നടത്തുവാന് അധികാരമുള്ളവനും ഹൃദയത്തില് സ്ഥിരതയുള്ളവനുമായ ഒരുവന് തന്റെ കന്യകയെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്വാന് സ്വന്ത ഹൃദയത്തില് നിര്ണ്ണയിച്ചു എങ്കില് അവന് ചെയ്യുന്നതു നന്നു.

37. Nevertheless he that stands steadfast in his heart, having no necessity, but has power over his own will, and has so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, does well.

38. അങ്ങനെ ഒരുത്തന് തന്റെ കന്യകയെ വിവാഹം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു നന്നു; വിവാഹം കഴിപ്പിക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നതു ഏറെ നന്നു.

38. So then he that gives her in marriage does well; but he that gives her not in marriage does better.

39. ഭര്ത്താവു ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന കാലത്തോളം സ്ത്രീ ബന്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ഭര്ത്താവു മരിച്ചുപോയാല് തനിക്കു മനസ്സുള്ളവനുമായി വിവാഹം കഴിവാന് സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം ഉണ്ടു; കര്ത്താവില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവനുമായി മാത്രമേ ആകാവു.

39. The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

40. എന്നാല് അവള് അങ്ങനെതന്നേ പാര്ത്തുകൊണ്ടാല് ഭാഗ്യമേറിയവള് എന്നു എന്റെ അഭിപ്രായം; ദൈവാത്മാവു എനിക്കും ഉണ്ടു എന്നു തോന്നുന്നു.

40. But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God.
