1. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നതു വ്യര്ത്ഥമായില്ല എന്നു നിങ്ങള് തന്നേ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

1. For ye your selues, brethren, knowe our entraunce in vnto you, yt it was not in vayne:

2. നിങ്ങള് അറിയുംപോലെ ഞങ്ങള് ഫിലിപ്പിയില്വെച്ചു കഷ്ടവും അപമാനവും അനുഭവിച്ചിട്ടും വലിയ പോരാട്ടത്തോടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സുവിശേഷം നിങ്ങളോടു പ്രസംഗിപ്പാന് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തില് ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.

2. But euen after that we had suffred before, and were shamefully entreated as ye knowe, at Philippos, we were bolde in our God, to speake vnto you the Gospell of God, in much stryuyng.

3. ഞങ്ങളുടെ പ്രബോധനം അബദ്ധത്തില്നിന്നോ അശുദ്ധിയില്നിന്നോ വ്യാജത്തോടയോ വന്നതല്ല.

3. For our exhortation was not of deceit, neither of vncleannes, neither in guile:

4. ഞങ്ങളെ സുവിശേഷം ഭരമേല്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങള് ദൈവത്തിന്നു കൊള്ളാകുന്നവരായി തെളിഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ഞങ്ങള് മനുഷ്യരെയല്ല ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയം ശോധനചെയ്യുന്ന ദൈവത്തെ അത്രേ പ്രസാദിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു.

4. But as it were alowed of God, to be put in credite with the Gospell: euen so we speake, not as pleasyng men, but God, which tryeth our heartes.

5. നിങ്ങള് അറിയുംപോലെ ഞങ്ങള് ഒരിക്കലും മുഖസ്തുതിയോ ദ്രവ്യാഗ്രഹത്തിന്റെ ഉപായമോ പ്രയോഗിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; ദൈവം സാക്ഷി.

5. For neither at any tyme vsed we flatteryng wordes, as ye knowe, neither cloke of couetousnes, God [is] recorde,

6. ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാര് എന്ന അവസ്ഥെക്കു ഘനത്തോടെയിരിപ്പാന് കഴിവുണ്ടായിട്ടും ഞങ്ങള് മനുഷ്യരോടു, നിങ്ങളോടാകട്ടെ മറ്റുള്ളവരോടാകട്ടെ മാനം അന്വേഷിച്ചില്ല;

6. Neither sought we prayse of men, neither of you, nor yet of others:

7. ഒരു അമ്മ തന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ പോറ്റുംപോലെ ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ആര്ദ്രതയുള്ളവരായിരുന്നു.

7. When we myght haue ben in auctoritie, as the Apostles of Christe, but we were tender among you, euen as a nource cherissheth her chyldren,

8. ഇങ്ങനെ ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളെ ഔമനിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സുവിശേഷം പ്രസംഗിപ്പാന് മാത്രമല്ല, നിങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു പ്രിയരാകയാല് ഞങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാണനും കൂടെ വെച്ചുതരുവാന് ഒരുക്കമായിരുന്നു.

8. So, beyng tenderly affected towarde you, our good wyll was to haue dealt vnto you, not the Gospell of God only: but also our owne soules, because ye were deare vnto vs.

9. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞങ്ങളുടെ അദ്ധ്വാനവും പ്രയാസവും നിങ്ങള് ഔര്ക്കുംന്നുവല്ലോ; നിങ്ങളില് ആര്ക്കും ഭാരമായിത്തീരരുതു എന്നു വെച്ചു ഞങ്ങള് രാവും പകലും വേല ചെയ്തു കൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളോടു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സുവിശേഷം പ്രസംഗിച്ചു.

9. For ye remember brethren, our labour and trauayle. For we labouryng nyght & day, because we woulde not be chargeable vnto any of you, preached vnto you the Gospell of God.

10. വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ഞങ്ങള് എത്ര പവിത്രമായും നീതിയായും അനിന്ദ്യമായും നടന്നു എന്നതിന്നു നിങ്ങളും ദൈവവും സാക്ഷി.

10. Ye [are] witnesses, & God [also] howe holyly, and iustly, and vnblameably, we behaued our selues among you that beleue.

11. തന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിന്നും മഹത്വത്തിന്നും നിങ്ങളെ വിളിക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തിന്നു യോഗ്യമായി നടപ്പാന് തക്കവണ്ണം

11. As ye knowe, howe that as a father his chyldren, so we haue exhorted, comforted, and besought euery one of you,

12. ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളില് ഔരോരുത്തനെ അപ്പന് മക്കളെ എന്നപോലെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചും ഉത്സാഹിപ്പിച്ചും സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞും പോന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അറിയാമല്ലോ.

12. That ye woulde walke worthie of God, who hath called you vnto his kyngdome and glorie.

13. ഞങ്ങള് പ്രസംഗിച്ച ദൈവവചനം നിങ്ങള് കേട്ടു, മനുഷ്യന്റെ വചനമായിട്ടല്ല സാക്ഷാല് ആകുന്നതുപോലെ ദൈവവചനമായിട്ടു തന്നേ കൈക്കൊണ്ടതിനാല് ഞങ്ങള് ദൈവത്തെ ഇടവിടാതെ സ്തുതിക്കുന്നു; വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന നിങ്ങളില് അതു വ്യാപരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

13. For this cause thanke we God also without ceassyng, because ye receauyng the worde which ye hearde of vs concernyng God, ye receaued it not as the worde of man, (but as it is in deede) the worde of God, which effectuously worketh also in you that beleue.

14. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, യെഹൂദ്യയില് ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിലുള്ള ദൈവസഭകള്ക്കു നിങ്ങള് അനുകാരികളായിത്തീര്ന്നു. അവര് യെഹൂദരാല് അനുഭവിച്ചതു തന്നേ നിങ്ങളും സ്വജാതിക്കാരാല് അനുഭവിച്ചുവല്ലോ.

14. For ye brethren became folowers of the Churches of God, which in Iurie are in Christe Iesus: for ye haue suffred lyke thynges of your countreymen, as they haue of the Iewes:

15. യെഹൂദര് കര്ത്താവായ യേശുവിനെയും സ്വന്തപ്രവാചകന്മാരെയും കൊന്നവരും ഞങ്ങളെ ഔടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞവരും ദൈവത്തെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കാത്തവരും സകലമനുഷ്യര്ക്കും വിരോധികളും

15. Who both kylled the Lorde Iesus, and their owne prophetes, & haue persecuted vs: and God they please not, and are contrarie to all men:

16. ജാതികള് രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നായി ഞങ്ങള് അവരോടു പ്രസംഗിക്കുന്നതു വിലക്കുന്നവരും ആകുന്നു; അങ്ങനെ അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ പാപങ്ങളെ എപ്പോഴും പൂരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നാല് ദൈവക്രോധം അവരുടെമേല് മുഴുത്തുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. And hynder vs to speake to the gentiles that they myght be saued, to fulfyll their sinnes alway. For the wrath [of God] is come on them to the vtmost.

17. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞങ്ങള് അല്പനേരത്തേക്കു ഹൃദയംകൊണ്ടല്ല, മുഖംകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുപിരിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ബഹു കാംക്ഷയോടെ നിങ്ങളുടെ മുഖം കാണ്മാന് ഏറ്റവും അധികം ശ്രമിച്ചു.

17. Forasmuch brethren, as we are kept from you for a short season, in person, not in heart, we enforced ye more to see you personally with great desire.

18. അതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് വരുവാന് ഞങ്ങള്, വിശേഷാല് പൌലൊസായ ഞാന് , ഒന്നു രണ്ടുപ്രാവശ്യം വിചാരിച്ചു; എന്നാല് സാത്താന് ഞങ്ങളെ തടുത്തു.

18. And therfore we woulde haue come vnto you, (I Paul) once agayne: but Satan hyndered vs.

19. നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുവിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ അവന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതയില് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ആശയോ സന്തോഷമോ പ്രശംസാകിരീടമോ ആര് ആകുന്നു? നിങ്ങളും അല്ലയോ?

19. For what is our hope, or ioy, or crowne of reioycyng? Are not ye it in the presence of our Lorde Iesus Christe, at his commyng?

20. ഞങ്ങളുടെ മഹത്വവും സന്തോഷവും നിങ്ങള് തന്നേ.

20. Yes, ye are our glorie and ioy.
