1. എന്നാല് ക്ഷാമം ദേശത്തു കഠിനമായി തീര്ന്നു.

1. In the mean time the famine was heavy upon all the land.

2. അവര് മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നുകൊണ്ടുവന്ന ധാന്യം തിന്നു തീര്ന്നപ്പോള് അവരുടെ അപ്പന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ഇനിയും പോയി കുറെ ആഹാരം കൊള്ളുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. And when they had eaten up all the corn, which they had brought out of Egypt, Jacob said to his sons: Go again and buy us a little food.

3. അതിന്നു യെഹൂദാ അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന് നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇല്ലാതിരുന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ മുഖം കാണുകയില്ല എന്നു അദ്ദേഹം തീര്ച്ചയായി ഞങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

3. Juda answered: The man declared unto us with the attestation of an oath, saying: You shall not see my face, unless you bring your youngest brother with you.

4. നീ ഞങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരനെ ഞങ്ങളുടെക്കുടെ അയച്ചാല് ഞങ്ങള് ചെന്നു ആഹാരം വാങ്ങി കൊണ്ടുവരാം;

4. If therefore thou wilt send him with us, we will set out together, and will buy necessaries for thee.

5. അയക്കാഞ്ഞാലോ ഞങ്ങള് പോകയില്ല. നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന് നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇല്ല എങ്കില് നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ മുഖം കാണുകയില്ല എന്നു അദ്ദേഹം ഞങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

5. But if thou wilt not, we will not go: for the man, as we have often said, declared unto us, saying: You shall not see my face without your youngest brother.

6. നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഇനിയും ഒരു സഹോദരന് ഉണ്ടെന്നു നിങ്ങള് അദ്ദേഹത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞു എനിക്കു ഈ ദോഷം വരുത്തിയതു എന്തിന്നു എന്നു യിസ്രായേല് പറഞ്ഞു.

6. Israel said to them: You have done this for my misery in that you told him you had also another brother.

7. അതിന്നു അവര്നിങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പന് ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവോ? നിങ്ങള്ക്കും ഇനിയും ഒരു സഹോദരന് ഉണ്ടോ എന്നിങ്ങനെ അദ്ദേഹം ഞങ്ങളെയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ വംശത്തെയും കുറിച്ചു താല്പര്യമായി ചോദിച്ചതു കൊണ്ടു ഞങ്ങള് ഇതൊക്കെയും അറിയിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നു; നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരനെ ഇവിടെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് എന്നു അദ്ദേഹം പറയുമെന്നു ഞങ്ങള് അറിഞ്ഞിരുന്നുവോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. But they answered: The man asked us in order concerning our kindred: if our father lived: if we had a brother: and we answered him regularly, according to what he demanded: could we know that he would say: Bring hither your brother with you?

8. പിന്നെ യെഹൂദാ തന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഞങ്ങളും നീയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ കുഞ്ഞുകുട്ടികളും മരിക്കാതെ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ബാലനെ എന്നോടുകൂടെ അയക്കേണം; എന്നാല് ഞങ്ങള് പോകാം.

8. And Juda said to his father: Send the boy with me, that we may set forward, and may live: lest both we and our children perish.

9. ഞാന് അവന്നു വേണ്ടി ഉത്തരവാദിയായിരിക്കാം; നീ അവനെ എന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു ചോദിക്കേണം; ഞാന് അവനെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അവനെ നിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിര്ത്തുന്നില്ലെങ്കില് ഞാന് സദാകാലം നിനക്കു കുറ്റക്കാരനായിക്കൊള്ളാം.

9. I take the boy upon me, require him at my hand: unless I bring him again, and restore him to thee, I will be guilty of sin against thee for ever.

10. ഞങ്ങള് താമസിച്ചിരുന്നില്ലെങ്കില് ഇപ്പോള് രണ്ടുപ്രാവശ്യം പോയി വരുമായിരുന്നു.

10. If delay had not been made, we had been here again the second time.

11. അപ്പോള് അവരുടെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്രായേല് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഅങ്ങനെയെങ്കില് ഇതു ചെയ്വിന് നിങ്ങളുടെ പാത്രങ്ങളില് കുറെ സുഗന്ധപ്പശ, കുറെ തേന് , സാംപ്രാണി, സന്നിനായകം, ബോടനണ്ടി, ബദാമണ്ടി എന്നിങ്ങളെ ദേശത്തിലെ വിശേഷവസ്തുക്കളില് ചിലതൊക്കെയും കൊണ്ടുപോയി അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്നു കാഴ്ചവെപ്പിന് .

11. Then Israel said to them: If it must needs be so, do what you will: take of the best fruits of the land in your vessels, and carry down presents to the man, a little balm, and honey, and storax, myrrh, turpentine, and almonds.

12. ഇരട്ടിദ്രവ്യവും കയ്യില് എടുത്തുകൊള്വിന് ; നിങ്ങളുടെ ചാക്കിന്റെ വായ്ക്കല് മടങ്ങിവന്ന ദ്രവ്യവും കയ്യില് തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുവിന് ; പക്ഷേ അതു കൈമറിച്ചലായിരിക്കും.

12. And take with you double money, and carry back what you found in your sacks, lest perhaps it was done by mistake.

13. നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരനെയും കൂട്ടി പുറപ്പെട്ടു അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വീണ്ടും ചെല്ലുവിന് .

13. And take also your brother, and go to the man.

14. അവന് നിങ്ങളുടെ മറ്റേ സഹോദരനെയും ബേന്യാമീനെയും നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ അയക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു സര്വ്വശക്തിയുള്ള ദൈവം അവന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു കരുണ തോന്നിക്കട്ടെ; എന്നാല് ഞാന് മക്കളില്ലാത്തവനാകേണമെങ്കില് ആകട്ടെ.

14. And may my almighty God make him favourable to you; and send back with you your brother, whom he keepeth, and this Benjamin: and as for me I shall be desolate without children.

15. അങ്ങനെ അവര് ആ കാഴ്ചയും ഇരട്ടിദ്രവ്യവും എടുത്തു ബെന്യാമീനെയും കൂട്ടി പുറപ്പെട്ടു മിസ്രയീമില് ചെന്നു യോസേഫീന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിന്നു.

15. So the men took the presents, and double money, and Benjamin: and went down into Egypt, and stood before Joseph.

16. അവരോടുകൂടെ ബെന്യാമീനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള് അവന് തന്റെ ഗൃഹ വിചാരകനോടുനീ ഈ പുരുഷന്മാരെ വീട്ടില് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പോക; അവര് ഉച്ചെക്കു എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കേണ്ടതാകയാല് മൃഗത്തെ അറുത്തു ഒരുക്കിക്കൊള്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

16. And when he had seen them, and Benjamin with them, he commanded the steward of his house, saying: Bring in the men into the house, and kill victims, and prepare a feast: because they shall eat with me at noon.

17. യോസേഫ് കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അവന് ചെയ്തു; അവരെ യോസേഫിന്റെ വീട്ടില് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പോയി.

17. He did as he was commanded, and brought the men into the house.

18. തങ്ങളെ യോസേഫിന്റെ വീട്ടില് കൊണ്ടുപോകയാല് അവര് ഭയപ്പെട്ടുആദ്യത്തെ പ്രാവശ്യം നമ്മുടെ ചാക്കില് മടങ്ങിവന്ന ദ്രവ്യം നിമിത്തം നമ്മെ പിടിച്ചു അടിമകളാക്കി നമ്മുടെ കഴുതകളെയും എടുത്തുകൊള്ളേണ്ടതിന്നാകുന്നു നമ്മെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And they being much afraid, said there one to another: Because of the money, which we carried back the first time in our sacks, we are brought in: that he may bring upon us a false accusation, and by violence make slaves of us and our asses.

19. അവര് യോസേഫിന്റെ ഗൃഹവിചാരകന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു, വീട്ടുവാതില്ക്കല്വെച്ചു അവനോടു സംസാരിച്ചു

19. Wherefore going up to the steward of the house, at the door,

20. യജമാനനേ, ആഹാരം കൊള്ളുവാന് ഞങ്ങള് മുമ്പെ വന്നിരുന്നു.

20. They said: Sir, we desire thee to hear us: We came down once before to buy food:

21. ഞങ്ങള് വഴിയമ്പലത്തില് ചെന്നു ചാകൂ അഴിച്ചപ്പോള് ഔരോരുത്തന്റെ ദ്രവ്യം മുഴുവനും അവനവന്റെ ചാക്കിന്റെ വായ്ക്കല് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അതു ഞങ്ങള് വീണ്ടും കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

21. And when we had bought, and come to the inn, we opened our sacks, and found our money in the mouths of the sacks: which we have now brought again in the same weight.

22. ആഹാരം കൊള്ളുവാന് വേറെ ദ്രവ്യവും ഞങ്ങള് കൊണ്ടുവന്നിട്ടുണ്ടു; ദ്രവ്യം ഞങ്ങളുടെ ചാക്കില് വെച്ചതു ആരെന്നു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. And we have brought other money besides, to buy what we want: we cannot tell who put it in our bags.

23. അതിന്നു അവന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു സാമാധാനം; നിങ്ങള് ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവം, നിങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പന്റെ ദൈവം തന്നേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ ചാക്കില് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു നിക്ഷേപം തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങളുടെ ദ്രവ്യം എനിക്കു കിട്ടി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ശിമെയോനെയും അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

23. But he answered: Peace be with you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father hath given you treasure in your sacks. For the money, which you gave me, I have for good. And he brought Simeon out to them.

24. പിന്നെ അവന് അവരെ യോസേഫിന്റെ വീട്ടിന്നകത്തു കെണ്ടുപോയി; അവര്ക്കും വെള്ളം കൊടുത്തു, അവര് കാലുകളെ കഴുകി; അവരുടെ കഴുതകള്ക്കു അവന് തീന് കൊടുത്തു.

24. And having brought them into the house, he fetched water, and they washed their feet, and he gave provender to their asses.

25. ഉച്ചെക്കു യോസേഫ് വരുമ്പോഴേക്കു അവര് കാഴ്ച ഒരുക്കിവെച്ചു; തങ്ങള്ക്കു ഭക്ഷണം അവിടെ എന്നു അവര് കേട്ടിരുന്നു.

25. But they made ready the presents, against Joseph came at noon: for they had heard that they should eat bread there.

26. യോസേഫ് വീട്ടില്വന്നപ്പോള് അവര് കൈവശമുള്ള കാഴ്ച അകത്തുകൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ വെച്ചു അവനെ സാഷ്ടാംഗം നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

26. Then Joseph came into his house, and they offered him the presents holding them in their hands, and they bowed down with their face to the ground.

27. അവന് അവരോടു കുശലപ്രശ്നം ചെയ്തുനിങ്ങള് പറഞ്ഞ വൃദ്ധന് , നിങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പന് സൌഖ്യമായിരിക്കുന്നുവോ? അവന് ജീവനോടിരിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

27. But he, courteously saluting them again, asked them, saying: Is the old man your father in health, of whom you told me? Is he yet living?

28. അതിന്നു അവര്ഞങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പനായ നിന്റെ അടിയാന്നു സുഖം തന്നേ; അവന് ജീവനോടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു കുനിഞ്ഞു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

28. And they answered: Thy servant our father is in health, he is yet living. And bowing themselves they made obeisance to him.

29. പിന്നെ അവന് തല ഉയര്ത്തി, തന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ മകനും തന്റെ അനുജനുമായ ബെന്യാമീനെ കണ്ടുനിങ്ങള് എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇളയസഹോദരനോ ഇവന് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചുദൈവം നിനക്കു കൃപനല്കട്ടെ മകനേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

29. And Joseph lifting up his eyes, saw Benjamin his brother, by the same mother, and said: Is this your young brother, of whom you told me? And he said: God be gracious to thee, my son.

30. അനുജനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു യോസേഫിന്റെ മനസ്സു ഇരുകിയതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് കരയേണ്ടതിന്നു ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു സ്ഥലം അന്വേഷിച്ചു, അറയില്ചെന്നു അവിടെവെച്ചു കരഞ്ഞു.

30. And he made haste because his heart was moved upon his brother, and tears gushed out: and going into his chamber he wept.

31. പിന്നെ അവന് മുഖം കഴുകി പുറത്തു വന്നു തന്നെത്താന് അടക്കിഭക്ഷണം കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

31. And when he had washed his face, coming out again, he refrained himself, and said: Set bread on the table.

32. അവര് അവന്നു പ്രത്യേകവും അവര്ക്കും പ്രത്യേകവും, അവനോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്ന മിസ്രയീമ്യര്ക്കും പ്രത്യേകവും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു വെച്ചു; മിസ്രയീമ്യര് എബ്രായരോടു കൂടെ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കയില്ല; അതു മിസ്രയീമ്യര്ക്കും വെറുപ്പു ആകുന്നു.

32. And when it was set on, for Joseph apart, and for his brethren apart, for the Egyptians also that ate with him, apart, (for it is unlawful for the Egyptians to eat with the Hebrews, and they think such a feast profane):

33. മൂത്തവന് മുതല് ഇളയവന് വരെ പ്രായത്തിന്നൊത്തവണ്ണം അവരെ അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഇരുത്തി; അവര് അന്യോന്യം നോക്കി ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു.

33. They sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his age. And they wondered very much:

34. അവന് തന്റെ മുമ്പില്നിന്നു അവര്ക്കും ഔഹരികൊടുത്തയച്ചു; ബെന്യാമീന്റെ ഔഹരി മറ്റവരുടെ ഔഹരിയുടെ അഞ്ചിരട്ടിയായിരുന്നു; അവര് പാനംചെയ്തു അവനോടുകൂടെ ആഹ്ളാദിച്ചു.

34. Taking the messes which they received of him: and the greater mess came to Benjamin, so that it exceeded by five parts. And they drank, and were merry with him.
