1. കൂടക്കൂടെ ശാസന കേട്ടിട്ടും ശാഠ്യം കാണിക്കുന്നവന് നീക്കുപോക്കില്ലാതെ പെട്ടെന്നു നശിച്ചുപോകും.

1. The man who remains stiff-necked and hates rebuke will be crushed suddenly beyond cure.

2. നീതിമാന്മാര് വര്ദ്ധിക്കുമ്പോള് ജനം സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന് ആധിപത്യം നടത്തുമ്പോഴോ ജനം നെടുവീര്പ്പിടുന്നു.

2. When the just prevail, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.

3. ജ്ഞാനത്തില് ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവന് തന്റെ അപ്പനെ സന്തോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; വേശ്യകളോടു സഹവാസം ചെയ്യുന്നവനോ തന്റെ സമ്പത്തു നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

6. ദുഷ്കര്മ്മി തന്റെ ലംഘനത്തില് കുടുങ്ങുന്നു; നീതിമാനോ ഘോഷിച്ചാനന്ദിക്കുന്നു.

6. The wicked man steps into a snare, but the just man runs on joyfully.

7. നീതിമാന് അഗതികളുടെ കാര്യം അറിയുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടനോ പരിജ്ഞാനം ഇന്നതെന്നു അറിയുന്നില്ല.

7. The just man has a care for the rights of the poor; the wicked man has no such concern.

8. പരിഹാസികള് പട്ടണത്തില് കോപാഗ്നി ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. ജ്ഞാനികളോ ക്രോധത്തെ ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

8. Arrogant men set the city ablaze, but wise men calm the fury.

9. ജ്ഞാനിക്കും ഭോഷന്നും തമ്മില് വാഗ്വാദം ഉണ്ടായിട്ടു അവന് കോപിച്ചാലോ ചിരിച്ചാലോ ശമനം വരികയില്ല.

9. If a wise man disputes with a fool, he may rage or laugh but can have no peace.

10. രക്തപാതകന്മാര് നിഷ്കളങ്കനെ ദ്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; നേരുള്ളവരോ അവന്റെ പ്രാണരക്ഷ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.

10. Bloodthirsty men hate the honest man, but the upright show concern for his life.

11. മൂഢന് തന്റെ കോപത്തെ മുഴുവനും വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു; ജ്ഞാനിയോ അതിനെ അടക്കി ശമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

11. The fool gives vent to all his anger; but by biding his time, the wise man calms it.

12. അധിപതി നുണ കേള്പ്പാന് തുടങ്ങിയാല് അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരൊക്കെയും ദുഷ്ടന്മാരാകും.

12. If a ruler listens to lying words, his servants all become wicked.

13. ദരിദ്രനും പീഡകനും തമ്മില് എതിര്പെടുന്നു; ഇരുവരുടെയും കണ്ണു യഹോവ പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

13. The poor and the oppressor have a common bond: the LORD gives light to the eyes of both.

14. അഗതികള്ക്കു വിശ്വസ്തതയോടെ ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്യുന്ന രാജാവിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം എന്നേക്കും സ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കും.

14. If a king is zealous for the rights of the poor, his throne stands firm forever.

15. വടിയും ശാസനയും ജ്ഞാനത്തെ നലകുന്നു; തന്നിഷ്ടത്തിന്നു വിട്ടിരുന്ന ബാലനോ അമ്മെക്കു ലജ്ജ വരുത്തുന്നു.

15. The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a boy left to his whims disgraces his mother.

16. ദുഷ്ടന്മാര് പെരുകുമ്പോള് അതിക്രമം പെരുകുന്നു; നീതിമാന്മാരോ അവരുടെ വീഴ്ച കാണും.

16. When the wicked prevail, crime increases; but their downfall the just will behold.

17. നിന്റെ മകനെ ശിക്ഷിക്ക; അവന് നിനക്കു ആശ്വാസമായ്തീരും; അവന് നിന്റെ മനസ്സിന്നു പ്രമോദംവരുത്തും.

17. Correct your son, and he will bring you comfort, and give delight to your soul.

18. വെളിപ്പാടു ഇല്ലാത്തെടത്തു ജനം മര്യാദവിട്ടു നടക്കുന്നു; ന്യായപ്രമാണം കാത്തുകൊള്ളുന്നവനോ ഭാഗ്യവാന് .

18. Without prophecy the people become demoralized; but happy is he who keeps the law.

19. ദാസനെ ഗുണീകരിപ്പാന് വാക്കു മാത്രം പോരാ; അവന് അതു ഗ്രഹിച്ചാലും കൂട്ടാക്കുകയില്ലല്ലോ.

19. By words no servant can be trained; for he understands what is said, but obeys not.

20. വാക്കില് ബദ്ധപ്പാടുള്ള മനുഷ്യനെ നീ കാണുന്നുവോ? അവനെക്കാള് മൂഢനെക്കുറിച്ചു അധികം പ്രത്യാശയുണ്ടു.

20. Do you see a man hasty in his words? More can be hoped for from a fool!

21. ദാസനെ ബാല്യംമുതല് ലാളിച്ചുവളര്ത്തുന്നവനോടു അവന് ഒടുക്കം ദുശ്ശാഠ്യം കാണിക്കും.

21. If a man pampers his servant from childhood, he will turn out to be stubborn.

22. കോപമുള്ളവന് വഴക്കുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു; ക്രോധമുള്ളവന് അതിക്രമം വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

22. An ill-tempered man stirs up disputes, and a hotheaded man is the cause of many sins.

23. മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഗര്വ്വം അവനെ താഴ്ത്തിക്കളയും; മനോവിനയമുള്ളവനോ മാനം പ്രാപിക്കും.

24. കള്ളനുമായി പങ്കു കൂടുന്നവന് സ്വന്ത പ്രാണനെ പകെക്കുന്നു; അവന് സത്യവാചകം കേള്ക്കുന്നു; ഒന്നും പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നില്ലതാനും.

24. The accomplice of a thief is his own enemy: he hears himself put under a curse, yet discloses nothing.

25. മാനുഷഭയം ഒരു കണി ആകുന്നു; യഹോവയില് ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നവനോ രക്ഷപ്രാപിക്കും.

25. The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the LORD is safe.

26. അനേകര് അധിപതിയുടെ മുഖപ്രസാദം അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; മനുഷ്യന്റെ ന്യായവിധിയോ യഹോവയാല് വരുന്നു.

26. Many curry favor with the ruler, but the rights of each are from the LORD.

27. നീതികെട്ടവന് നീതിമാന്മാര്ക്കും വെറുപ്പു; സന്മാര്ഗ്ഗി ദുഷ്ടന്മാര്ക്കും വെറുപ്പു.

27. The evildoer is an abomination to the just, and he who walks uprightly is an abomination to the wicked.
