1. എല്ലാറ്റിന്നും ഒരു സമയമുണ്ടു; ആകാശത്തിന് കീഴുള്ള സകലകാര്യത്തിന്നും ഒരു കാലം ഉണ്ടു.

1. To all things there is an appointed time, and a time to euery purpose vnder the heauen.

2. ജനിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, മരിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം; നടുവാന് ഒരു കാലം, നട്ടതു പറിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം; കൊല്ലുവാന് ഒരു കാലം, സൌഖ്യമാക്കുവാന് ഒരു കാലം;

2. A time to bee borne, and a time to die: a time to plant, and a time to plucke vp that which is planted.

3. ഇടിച്ചുകളവാന് ഒരു കാലം, പണിവാന് ഒരുകാലം,

3. A time to slay, and a time to heale: a time to breake downe, and a time to builde.

4. കരവാന് ഒരു കാലം ചിരിപ്പാന് ഒരുകാലം; വിലപിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, നൃത്തം ചെയ്വാന് ഒരു കാലം;

4. A time to weepe, and a time to laugh: a time to mourne, and a time to dance.

5. കല്ലു പെറുക്കിക്കളവാന് ഒരു കാലം, കല്ലു പെറുക്കിക്കൂട്ടുവാന് ഒരു കാലം; ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്വാന് ഒരു കാലം, ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്യാതിരിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം;

5. A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones: a time to embrace, and a time to be farre from embracing.

6. സമ്പാദിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, നഷ്ടമാവാന് ഒരു കാലം; സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, എറിഞ്ഞുകളവാന് ഒരു കാലം;

6. A time to seeke, and a time to lose: a time to keepe, and a time to cast away.

7. കീറുവാന് ഒരു കാലം, തുന്നുവാന് ഒരു കാലം; മിണ്ടാതിരിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, സംസാരിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം;

7. A time to rent, and a time to sowe: a time to keepe silence, and a time to speake.

8. സ്നേഹിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, ദ്വേഷിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം; യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു ഒരു കാലവും സമാധാനത്തിന്നു ഒരു കാലവും ഉണ്ടു.

8. A time to loue, and a time to hate: a time of warre, and a time of peace.

9. പ്രയത്നിക്കുന്നവന്നു തന്റെ പ്രയത്നംകൊണ്ടു എന്തു ലാഭം?

9. What profite hath hee that worketh of the thing wherein he trauaileth?

10. ദൈവം മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും കഷ്ടപ്പെടുവാന് കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന കഷ്ടപ്പാടു ഞാന് കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു.

10. I haue seene the trauaile that God hath giuen to ye sonnes of men to humble them thereby.

11. അവന് സകലവും അതതിന്റെ സമയത്തു ഭംഗിയായി ചെയ്തു നിത്യതയും മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഹൃദയത്തില് വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. എങ്കിലും ദൈവം ആദിയോടന്തം ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രവൃത്തിയെ ഗ്രഹിപ്പാന് അവര്ക്കും കഴിവില്ല.

11. He hath made euery thing beautifull in his time: also he hath set the worlde in their heart, yet can not man finde out the worke that God hath wrought from the beginning euen to the end.

12. ജീവപര്യന്തം സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നതും സുഖം അനുഭവിക്കുന്നതും അല്ലാതെ ഒരു നന്മയും മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും ഇല്ല എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു.

12. I know that there is nothing good in them, but to reioyce, and to doe good in his life.

13. ഏതു മനുഷ്യനും തിന്നുകുടിച്ചു തന്റെ സകലപ്രയത്നംകൊണ്ടും സുഖം അനുഭവിക്കുന്നതും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാനം ആകുന്നു.

13. And also that euery man eateth and drinketh, and seeth the commoditie of all his labour. this is the gift of God.

14. ദൈവം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും ശാശ്വതം എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു; അതിനോടു ഒന്നും കൂട്ടുവാനും അതില്നിന്നു ഒന്നും കുറെപ്പാനും കഴിയുന്നതല്ല; മനുഷ്യര് തന്നെ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു ദൈവം അതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. I knowe that whatsoeuer God shall doe, it shalbe for euer: to it can no man adde, and from it can none diminish: for God hath done it, that they should feare before him.

15. ഇപ്പോഴുള്ളതു പണ്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഉണ്ടാകുവാനുള്ളതും മുമ്പു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതു തന്നേ; കഴിഞ്ഞുപോയതിനെ ദൈവം വീണ്ടും അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.

15. What is that that hath bene? that is nowe: and that that shalbe, hath now bene: for God requireth that which is past.

16. പിന്നെയും ഞാന് സൂര്യന്നു കീഴെ ന്യായത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തു ന്യായക്കേടും നീതിയുടെ സ്ഥലത്തു നീതികേടും കണ്ടു.

16. And moreouer I haue seene vnder the sunne the place of iudgement, where was wickednesse, and the place of iustice where was iniquitie.

17. ഞാന് എന്റെ മനസ്സില്ദൈവം നീതിമാനെയും ദുഷ്ടനെയും ന്യായം വിധിക്കും; സകലകാര്യത്തിന്നും സകലപ്രവൃത്തിക്കും ഒരു കാലം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചു.

17. I thought in mine heart, God wil iudge the iust and the wicked: for time is there for euery purpose and for euery worke.

18. പിന്നെയും ഞാന് മനസ്സില് വിചാരിച്ചതുഇതു മനുഷ്യര്നിമിത്തമത്രേ; ദൈവം അവരെ ശോധന കഴിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും തങ്ങള് മൃഗങ്ങള് മാത്രം എന്നു അവര് കാണേണ്ടതിന്നും തന്നേ.

18. I considered in mine heart the state of the children of men that God had purged them: yet to see to, they are in themselues as beastes.

19. മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും ഭവിക്കുന്നതു മൃഗങ്ങള്ക്കും ഭവിക്കുന്നു; രണ്ടിന്നും ഗതി ഒന്നു തന്നേ; അതു മരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ അവനും മരിക്കുന്നു; രണ്ടിന്നും ശ്വാസം ഒന്നത്രേ; മനുഷ്യന്നു മൃഗത്തെക്കാള് വിശേഷതയില്ല; സകലവും മായയല്ലോ.

19. For the condition of the children of men, and the condition of beasts are euen as one condition vnto them. As the one dyeth, so dyeth the other: for they haue all one breath, and there is no excellency of man aboue ye beast: for all is vanitie.

20. എല്ലാം ഒരു സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു തന്നേ പോകുന്നു; എല്ലാം പൊടിയില് നിന്നുണ്ടായി, എല്ലാം വീണ്ടും പൊടിയായ്തീരുന്നു.

20. All goe to one place, and all was of the dust, and all shall returne to the dust.

21. മനുഷ്യരുടെ ആത്മാവു മേലോട്ടു പോകുന്നുവോ? മൃഗങ്ങളുടെ ആത്മാവു കീഴോട്ടു ഭൂമിയിലേക്കു പോകുന്നുവോ? ആര്ക്കറിയാം?

21. Who knoweth whether the spirit of man ascend vpward, and the spirit of the beast descend downeward to the earth?

22. അതുകൊണ്ടു മനുഷ്യന് തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളില് സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നതല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊരു നന്മയുമില്ല എന്നുഞാന് കണ്ടു; അതു തന്നേ അവന്റെ ഔഹരി; തന്റെ ശേഷം ഉണ്ടാവാനിരിക്കുന്നതു കാണ്മാന് ആര് അവനെ മടക്കിവരുത്തും?

22. Therefore I see that there is nothing better then that a man shoulde reioyce in his affaires, because that is his portion. For who shall bring him to see what shalbe after him?
