1. എല്ലാറ്റിന്നും ഒരു സമയമുണ്ടു; ആകാശത്തിന് കീഴുള്ള സകലകാര്യത്തിന്നും ഒരു കാലം ഉണ്ടു.

1. To everything -- a season, and a time to every delight under the heavens:

2. ജനിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, മരിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം; നടുവാന് ഒരു കാലം, നട്ടതു പറിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം; കൊല്ലുവാന് ഒരു കാലം, സൌഖ്യമാക്കുവാന് ഒരു കാലം;

2. A time to bring forth, And a time to die. A time to plant, And a time to eradicate the planted.

3. ഇടിച്ചുകളവാന് ഒരു കാലം, പണിവാന് ഒരുകാലം,

3. A time to slay, And a time to heal, A time to break down, And a time to build up.

4. കരവാന് ഒരു കാലം ചിരിപ്പാന് ഒരുകാലം; വിലപിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, നൃത്തം ചെയ്വാന് ഒരു കാലം;

4. A time to weep, And a time to laugh. A time to mourn, And a time to skip.

5. കല്ലു പെറുക്കിക്കളവാന് ഒരു കാലം, കല്ലു പെറുക്കിക്കൂട്ടുവാന് ഒരു കാലം; ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്വാന് ഒരു കാലം, ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്യാതിരിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം;

5. A time to cast away stones, And a time to heap up stones. A time to embrace, And a time to be far from embracing.

6. സമ്പാദിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, നഷ്ടമാവാന് ഒരു കാലം; സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, എറിഞ്ഞുകളവാന് ഒരു കാലം;

6. A time to seek, And a time to destroy. A time to keep, And a time to cast away.

7. കീറുവാന് ഒരു കാലം, തുന്നുവാന് ഒരു കാലം; മിണ്ടാതിരിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, സംസാരിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം;

7. A time to rend, And a time to sew. A time to be silent, And a time to speak.

8. സ്നേഹിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, ദ്വേഷിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം; യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു ഒരു കാലവും സമാധാനത്തിന്നു ഒരു കാലവും ഉണ്ടു.

8. A time to love, And a time to hate. A time of war, And a time of peace.

9. പ്രയത്നിക്കുന്നവന്നു തന്റെ പ്രയത്നംകൊണ്ടു എന്തു ലാഭം?

9. What advantage hath the doer in that which he is labouring at?

10. ദൈവം മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും കഷ്ടപ്പെടുവാന് കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന കഷ്ടപ്പാടു ഞാന് കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു.

10. I have seen the travail that God hath given to the sons of man to be humbled by it.

11. അവന് സകലവും അതതിന്റെ സമയത്തു ഭംഗിയായി ചെയ്തു നിത്യതയും മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഹൃദയത്തില് വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. എങ്കിലും ദൈവം ആദിയോടന്തം ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രവൃത്തിയെ ഗ്രഹിപ്പാന് അവര്ക്കും കഴിവില്ല.

11. The whole He hath made beautiful in its season; also, that knowledge He hath put in their heart without which man findeth not out the work that God hath done from the beginning even unto the end.

12. ജീവപര്യന്തം സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നതും സുഖം അനുഭവിക്കുന്നതും അല്ലാതെ ഒരു നന്മയും മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും ഇല്ല എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു.

12. I have known that there is no good for them except to rejoice and to do good during their life,

13. ഏതു മനുഷ്യനും തിന്നുകുടിച്ചു തന്റെ സകലപ്രയത്നംകൊണ്ടും സുഖം അനുഭവിക്കുന്നതും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാനം ആകുന്നു.

13. yea, even every man who eateth and hath drunk and seen good by all his labour, it [is] a gift of God.

14. ദൈവം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും ശാശ്വതം എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു; അതിനോടു ഒന്നും കൂട്ടുവാനും അതില്നിന്നു ഒന്നും കുറെപ്പാനും കഴിയുന്നതല്ല; മനുഷ്യര് തന്നെ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു ദൈവം അതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. I have known that all that God doth is to the age, to it nothing is to be added, and from it nothing is to be withdrawn; and God hath wrought that they do fear before Him.

15. ഇപ്പോഴുള്ളതു പണ്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഉണ്ടാകുവാനുള്ളതും മുമ്പു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതു തന്നേ; കഴിഞ്ഞുപോയതിനെ ദൈവം വീണ്ടും അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.

15. What is that which hath been? already it is, and that which [is] to be hath already been, and God requireth that which is pursued.

16. പിന്നെയും ഞാന് സൂര്യന്നു കീഴെ ന്യായത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തു ന്യായക്കേടും നീതിയുടെ സ്ഥലത്തു നീതികേടും കണ്ടു.

16. And again, I have seen under the sun the place of judgment -- there [is] the wicked; and the place of righteousness -- there [is] the wicked.

17. ഞാന് എന്റെ മനസ്സില്ദൈവം നീതിമാനെയും ദുഷ്ടനെയും ന്യായം വിധിക്കും; സകലകാര്യത്തിന്നും സകലപ്രവൃത്തിക്കും ഒരു കാലം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചു.

17. I said in my heart, 'The righteous and the wicked doth God judge, for a time [is] to every matter and for every work there.'

18. പിന്നെയും ഞാന് മനസ്സില് വിചാരിച്ചതുഇതു മനുഷ്യര്നിമിത്തമത്രേ; ദൈവം അവരെ ശോധന കഴിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും തങ്ങള് മൃഗങ്ങള് മാത്രം എന്നു അവര് കാണേണ്ടതിന്നും തന്നേ.

18. I said in my heart concerning the matter of the sons of man that God might cleanse them, so as to see that they themselves [are] beasts.

19. മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും ഭവിക്കുന്നതു മൃഗങ്ങള്ക്കും ഭവിക്കുന്നു; രണ്ടിന്നും ഗതി ഒന്നു തന്നേ; അതു മരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ അവനും മരിക്കുന്നു; രണ്ടിന്നും ശ്വാസം ഒന്നത്രേ; മനുഷ്യന്നു മൃഗത്തെക്കാള് വിശേഷതയില്ല; സകലവും മായയല്ലോ.

19. For an event [is to] the sons of man, and an event [is to] the beasts, even one event [is] to them; as the death of this, so [is] the death of that; and one spirit [is] to all, and the advantage of man above the beast is nothing, for the whole [is] vanity.

20. എല്ലാം ഒരു സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു തന്നേ പോകുന്നു; എല്ലാം പൊടിയില് നിന്നുണ്ടായി, എല്ലാം വീണ്ടും പൊടിയായ്തീരുന്നു.

20. The whole are going unto one place, the whole have been from the dust, and the whole are turning back unto the dust.

21. മനുഷ്യരുടെ ആത്മാവു മേലോട്ടു പോകുന്നുവോ? മൃഗങ്ങളുടെ ആത്മാവു കീഴോട്ടു ഭൂമിയിലേക്കു പോകുന്നുവോ? ആര്ക്കറിയാം?

21. Who knoweth the spirit of the sons of man that is going up on high, and the spirit of the beast that is going down below to the earth?

22. അതുകൊണ്ടു മനുഷ്യന് തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളില് സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നതല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊരു നന്മയുമില്ല എന്നുഞാന് കണ്ടു; അതു തന്നേ അവന്റെ ഔഹരി; തന്റെ ശേഷം ഉണ്ടാവാനിരിക്കുന്നതു കാണ്മാന് ആര് അവനെ മടക്കിവരുത്തും?

22. And I have seen that there is nothing better than that man rejoice in his works, for it [is] his portion; for who doth bring him in to look on that which is after him?
