1. ആ കാലത്തു ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്നു മരിക്കത്തക്ക രോഗം പിടിച്ചു; ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു അവനോടുനിന്റെ ഗൃഹകാര്യം ക്രമത്തിലാക്കുക; നീ മരിച്ചുപോകും; സൌഖ്യമാകയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. Around this time Hizkiyahu became ill to the point of death. Yesha'yahu the prophet, the son of Amotz, came and said to him, 'Here is what ADONAI says: 'Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not live.''

2. അപ്പോള് ഹിസ്കീയാവു മുഖം ചുവരിന്റെ നേരെ തിരിച്ചു യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു

2. Hizkiyahu turned his face toward the wall and prayed to ADONAI:

3. അയ്യോ, യഹോവേ, ഞാന് വിശ്വസ്തതയോടും ഏകാഗ്രഹൃദയത്തോടും കൂടെ തിരുമുമ്പില് നടന്നു നിനക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഔര്ക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ഹിസ്കീയാവു ഏറ്റവും കരഞ്ഞു.

3. 'I plead with you, ADONAI, remember now how I have lived before you truly and wholeheartedly, and how I have done what you see as good.' And he cried bitter tears.

4. എന്നാല് യെശയ്യാവിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

4. Then the word of ADONAI came to Yesha'yahu:

5. നീ ചെന്നു ഹിസ്കീയാവോടു പറയേണ്ടതുനിന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് നിന്റെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന കേട്ടു നിന്റെ കണ്ണുനിര് കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ഞാന് നിന്റെ ആയുസ്സിനോടു പതിനഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം കൂട്ടും.

5. Go and tell Hizkiyahu that this is what ADONAI, the God of David your ancestor, says: 'I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; therefore I will add fifteen years to your life.

6. ഞാന് നിന്നെയും ഈ നഗരത്തെയും അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വിടുവിക്കും; ഈ നഗരത്തെ ഞാന് കാത്തുരക്ഷിക്കും.

6. Also I will rescue you and this city from the power of the king of Ashur; I will defend this city.

7. യഹോവ, താന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ഈ കാര്യം നിവര്ത്തിക്കും എന്നുള്ളതിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ പക്കല്നിന്നു ഇതു നിനക്കു ഒരു അടയാളം ആകും.

7. The sign for you from ADONAI that ADONAI will do what he said is

8. ആഹാസിന്റെ ഘടികാരത്തില് സൂര്യഗതി അനുസരിച്ചു ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോയിരിക്കുന്ന നിഴലിനെ ഞാന് പത്തു പടി പിന്നോക്കം തിരിയുമാറാക്കും; ഇങ്ങനെ സൂര്യന് ഘടികാരത്തില് ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോയിരുന്ന പത്തു പടി തിരിഞ്ഞു പോന്നു.

10. 'I once said: 'In the prime of life I am going off to the gates of Sh'ol. I am being deprived of living out the full span of my life.'

11. ഞാന് യഹോവയെ, ജീവനുള്ളവരുടെ ദേശത്തുവെച്ചു യഹോവയെ കാണുകയില്ല; ഞാന് ഭൂവാസികളുടെ ഇടയില്വെച്ചു ഇനി മനുഷ്യനെ കാണുകയില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞു.

11. 'I said, 'I will never again see [Yah], [Yah] in the land of the living; I will look on human beings no more or be with those who live in this world.

12. എന്റെ പാര്പ്പിടം നീങ്ങി ഒരു ഇടയക്കൂടാരം പോലെ എന്നെ വിട്ടുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു; നെയ്ത്തുകാരന് തുണി ചുരുട്ടുംപോലെ ഞാന് എന്റെ ജീവനെ ചുരുട്ടിവെക്കുന്നു; അവന് എന്നെ പാവില്നിന്നു അറുത്തുകളയുന്നു; ഒരു രാപകല് കഴിയുംമുമ്പെ നീ എനിക്കു അന്തംവരുത്തുന്നു.

13. I try to be strong like a lion till morning, but still my illness breaks all my bones- between day and night you could finish me off.

14. മീവല്പക്ഷിയോ കൊക്കോ എന്ന പോലെ ഞാന് ചിലെച്ചു; ഞാന് പ്രാവുപോലെ കുറുകി എന്റെ കണ്ണു ഉയരത്തിലേക്കു നോക്കി ക്ഷീണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവേ ഞാന് ഞെരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ എനിക്കു ഇട നില്ക്കേണമേ.

14. I make little chattering sounds like a swallow, I moan aloud like a dove, My eyes are weary with looking upward. [Adonai], I am overwhelmed; guarantee my life!'

16. കര്ത്താവേ, അതിനാല് മനുഷ്യര് ജീവിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ ജീവനും കേവലം അതിലത്രേ; അങ്ങനെ നീ എന്നെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കി എന്റെ ജീവനെ രക്ഷിക്കും.

16. [Adonai], by these things people live; in all these is the life of my spirit. You're restoring my health and giving me life-

17. സമാധാനത്തിന്നായി എനിക്കു അത്യന്തം കൈപ്പായതു ഭവിച്ചു; എങ്കിലും നീ എന്റെ സകലപാപങ്ങളെയും നിന്റെ പിറകില് എറിഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ പ്രാണനെ നാശകൂഴിയില്നിന്നു സ്നേഹത്തോടെ രക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. though instead of peace, I felt very bitter. You desired my life and preserved it from the nothingness pit; for you threw all my sins behind your back.

18. പാതാളം നിന്നെ സ്തുതിക്കുന്നില്ല; മരണം നിന്നെ വാഴ്ത്തുന്നില്ല; കുഴിയില് ഇറങ്ങുന്നവര് നിന്റെ വിശ്വസ്തതയെ പ്രത്യാശിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

18. 'Sh'ol cannot thank you, death cannot praise you; those descending to the pit cannot hope for your truth.

19. ഞാന് ഇന്നു ചെയ്യുന്നതുപോലെ ജീവനുള്ളവന് , ജീവനുള്ളവന് മാത്രം നിന്നെ സ്തുതിക്കും; അപ്പന് മക്കളോടു നിന്റെ വിശ്വസ്തയെ അറിയിക്കും.

19. The living, the living- they can thank you, as I do today; fathers will make their children know about your faithfulness.

20. യഹോവ എന്നെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന് ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞങ്ങള് ജീവപര്യന്തം യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് തന്ത്രിനാദത്തോടെ എന്റെ ഗീതങ്ങളെ പാടും.

20. ADONAI is ready to save me; hence we will make our stringed instruments sound all the days of our life in the house of ADONAI.'

21. എന്നാല് അവന്നു സൌഖ്യം വരേണ്ടതിന്നു അത്തിപ്പഴക്കട്ട കൊണ്ടുവന്നു പരുവിന്മേല് പുരട്ടുവാന് യെശയ്യാവു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

21. Then Yesha'yahu said, 'Have them take a fig-plaster and apply it to the inflammation, and he will recover.'

22. ഞാന് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് കയറിച്ചെല്ലും എന്നതിന്നു അടയാളം എന്തു എന്നു ഹിസ്കീയാവു ചോദിച്ചിരുന്നു.

22. Hizkiyahu asked, 'What sign will there be that I will be able to go up to the house of ADONAI?'
