1. അയ്യോ, പൊന്നു മങ്ങിപ്പോയി, നിര്മ്മല തങ്കം മാറിപ്പോയി, വിശുദ്ധരത്നങ്ങള് സകലവീഥികളുടെയും തലെക്കല് ചൊരിഞ്ഞു കിടക്കുന്നു.

1. How is the gold become dim! the most pure gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary poured out at the top of all the streets!

2. തങ്കത്തോടു തുല്യരായിരുന്ന സീയോന്റെ വിശിഷ്ടപുത്രന്മാരെ കുശവന്റെ പണിയായ മണ്പാത്രങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ എണ്ണിയിരിക്കുന്നതെങ്ങനെ?

2. The sons of Zion, so precious, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!

3. കുറുനരികള്പോലും മുലകാണിച്ചു കുട്ടികളെ കുടിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ പുത്രിയോ മരുഭൂമിയിലെ ഒട്ടകപ്പക്ഷിയെപ്പോലെ ക്രൂരയായ്തീര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു

3. Even the jackals offer the breast, they give suck to their young; the daughter of my people is become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness.

4. മുലകുടിക്കുന്ന കുഞ്ഞിന്റെ നാവു ദാഹംകൊണ്ടു അണ്ണാക്കോടു പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു; പൈതങ്ങള് അപ്പം ചോദിക്കുന്നു; ആരും നുറുക്കിക്കൊടുക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

4. The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst; the young children ask bread, no man breaketh it unto them.

5. സ്വാദുഭോജ്യങ്ങളെ അനുഭവിച്ചുവന്നവര് വീഥികളില് പട്ടിണികിടക്കുന്നു; ധൂമ്രവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു വളര്ന്നവര് കുപ്പകളെ ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

5. They that fed delicately are desolate in the streets; they that were brought up in scarlet embrace dung-hills.

6. കൈ തൊടാതെ പെട്ടെന്നു മറിഞ്ഞുപോയ സൊദോമിന്റെ പാപത്തെക്കാള് എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ പുത്രിയുടെ അകൃത്യം വലുതാകുന്നു.

6. And the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the reward of the sin of Sodom, which was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands were violently laid upon her.

7. അവളുടെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര് ഹിമത്തിലും നിര്മ്മലന്മാരും പാലിലും വെളുത്തവരുമായിരുന്നു; അവരുടെ ദേഹം പവിഴത്തിലും ചുവപ്പുള്ളതും അവരുടെ ശോഭ നീലക്കല്ലുപോലെയും ആയിരുന്നു.

7. Her Nazarites were purer than snow, whiter than milk; they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their figure was as sapphire.

8. അവരുടെ മുഖം കരിക്കട്ടയെക്കാള് കറുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; വീഥികളില് അവരെ കണ്ടിട്ടു ആരും അറിയുന്നില്ല; അവരുടെ ത്വക് അസ്ഥികളോടു പറ്റി ഉണങ്ങി മരംപോലെ ആയിത്തീര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

8. Their visage is darker than blackness, they are not known in the streets; their skin cleaveth to their bones, it is withered, it is become like a stick.

9. വാള്കൊണ്ടു മരിക്കുന്നവര് വിശപ്പുകൊണ്ടു മരിക്കുന്നവരിലും ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാര്; അവര് നിലത്തിലെ അനുഭവമില്ലയാകയാല് ബാധിതരായി ക്ഷീണിച്ചുപോകുന്നു.

9. The slain with the sword are happier than the slain with hunger; for these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field.

10. കരുണയുള്ള സ്ത്രീകള് തങ്ങളുടെ പൈതങ്ങളെ സ്വന്തകൈകൊണ്ടു പാകം ചെയ്തു; അവര് എന്റെ ജനത്തിന് പുത്രിയുടെ നാശത്തിങ്കല് അവര്ക്കും ആഹാരമായിരുന്നു.

10. The hands of pitiful women have boiled their own children: they were their meat in the ruin of the daughter of my people.

11. യഹോവ തന്റെ ക്രോധം നിവര്ത്തിച്ചു, തന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപം ചൊരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് സീയോനില് തീ കത്തിച്ചുഅതു അതിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനങ്ങളെ ദഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

11. Jehovah hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, which hath consumed the foundations thereof.

12. വൈരിയും ശത്രുവും യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ വാതിലുകള്ക്കകത്തു കടക്കും എന്നു ഭൂരാജാക്കന്മാരും ഭൂവാസികള് ആരും വിശ്വസിച്ചിരുന്നില്ല.

12. The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy should enter into the gates of Jerusalem.

13. അതിന്റെ നടുവില് നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ രക്തം ചൊരിഞ്ഞിട്ടുള്ള പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ പാപങ്ങളും പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ അകൃത്യങ്ങളും ഹേതുവായി.

13. [It is] for the sins of her prophets, [and] the iniquities of her priests, who have shed the blood of the righteous in the midst of her.

14. അവര് കുരടന്മാരായി വീഥികളില് ഉഴന്നു രക്തം പുരണ്ടു നടക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ വസ്ത്രം ആര്ക്കും തൊട്ടുകൂടാ.

14. They wandered about blind in the streets; they were polluted with blood, so that men could not touch their garments.

15. മാറുവിന് ! അശുദ്ധന് ! മാറുവിന് ! മാറുവിന് ! തൊടരുതു! എന്നു അവരോടു വിളിച്ചുപറയും; അവര് ഔടി ഉഴലുമ്പോള്അവര് ഇനി ഇവിടെ വന്നു പാര്ക്കയില്ല എന്നു ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില് പറയും.

15. They cried unto them, Depart! Unclean! Depart! depart, touch not! When they fled away, and wandered about, it was said among the nations, They shall no more sojourn [there].

16. യഹോവയുടെ നോട്ടം അവരെ ചിതറിച്ചു; അവന് അവരെ കടാക്ഷിക്കയില്ല; അവര് പുരോഹിതന്മാരെ ആദരിച്ചില്ല, വൃദ്ധന്മാരോടു കൃപ കാണിച്ചതുമില്ല.

16. The face of Jehovah hath divided them; he will no more regard them. They respected not the persons of the priests, they favoured not the aged.

17. വ്യര്ത്ഥസഹായത്തിന്നായി നോക്കി ഞങ്ങളുടെ കണ്ണു ഇപ്പോഴും മങ്ങുന്നു; രക്ഷിപ്പാന് കഴിയാത്ത ജാതിക്കായി ഞങ്ങള് ഞങ്ങളുടെ കാവല്മാളികയില് കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. Our eyes still failed for our vain help; in our watching, we have watched for a nation that did not save.

18. ഞങ്ങളുടെ വീഥികളില് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു നടന്നു കൂടാതവണ്ണം അവര് ഞങ്ങളുടെ കാലടികള്ക്കു പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങളുടെ അവസാനം അടുത്തു, ഞങ്ങളുടെ കാലം തികഞ്ഞു, ഞങ്ങളുടെ അവസാനം വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

18. They hunted our steps, that we could not go in our streets: our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end is come.

19. ഞങ്ങളെ പിന്തുടര്ന്നവര് ആകാശത്തിലെ കഴുക്കളിലും വേഗമുള്ളവര്; അവര് മലകളില് ഞങ്ങളെ പിന്തുടര്ന്നു, മരുഭൂമിയില് ഞങ്ങള്ക്കായി പതിയിരുന്നു.

19. Our pursuers were swifter than the eagles of the heavens; they chased us hotly upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.

20. ഞങ്ങളുടെ ജീവശ്വാസമായി, യഹോവയുടെ അഭിഷിക്തനായവന് അവരുടെ കുഴികളില് അപപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ നിഴലില് നാം ജാതികളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ ജിവിക്കും എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് വിചാരിച്ചിരുന്നു.

20. The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of Jehovah, was taken in their pits; of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the nations.

21. ഊസ് ദേശത്തു പാര്ക്കുംന്ന എദോംപുത്രിയേ, സന്തോഷിച്ചു അനന്ദിക്ക; പാനപാത്രം നിന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കും വരും; നീ ലഹരിപിടിച്ചു നിന്നെത്തന്നേ നഗ്നയാക്കും.

21. Rejoice and be glad, daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz: the cup shall pass also unto thee; thou shalt be drunken, and make thyself naked.

22. സീയോന് പുത്രിയേ, നിന്റെ അകൃത്യം തീര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇനി അവന് നിന്നെ പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു അയക്കയില്ല; എദോംപുത്രിയേ അവന് നിന്റെ അകൃത്യം സന്ദര്ശിക്കയും നിന്റെ പാപങ്ങള് വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും.

22. The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity. He will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins.
