1. യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എനിക്കുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്;

1. The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,

2. മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, നീ നിന്റെ സ്വജാതിക്കാരോടു പ്രവചിച്ചു പറയേണ്ടതുഞാന് ഒരു ദേശത്തിന്റെ നേരെ വാള് വരുത്തുമ്പോള്, ആ ദേശത്തിലെ ജനം തങ്ങളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില്നിന്നു ഒരു പുരുഷനെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു കാവല്ക്കാരനായി വെച്ചാല്,

2. 'Son of man, speak to the people of your country. Say to them, 'When I send the sword against the people of that country, take one of their number and post him as a watchman;

3. ദേശത്തിന്റെ നേരെ വാള് വരുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവന് കാഹളം ഊതി ജനത്തെ ഔര്മ്മപ്പെടുത്തുമ്പോള്

3. if he sees the sword coming against the country, he must sound his horn to warn the people.

4. ആരെങ്കിലും കാഹളനാദം കേട്ടു കരുതിക്കൊള്ളാതെ ഇരുന്നാല് വാള് വന്നു അവനെ ഛേദിച്ചുകളയുന്നു എങ്കില് അവന്റെ രക്തം അവന്റെ തലമേല് തന്നേ ഇരിക്കും.

4. If someone hears the sound of the horn but pays no attention and the sword overtakes him and destroys him, he will have been responsible for his own death.

5. അവന് കാഹളനാദം കേട്ടിട്ടു കരുതിക്കൊണ്ടില്ല; അവന്റെ രക്തം അവന്റെമേല് ഇരിക്കും; കരുതിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവന് തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ രക്ഷിക്കുമായിരുന്നു.

5. He has heard the sound of the horn and paid no attention; his death will be his own responsibility. But the life of someone who pays attention will be secure.

6. എന്നാല് കാവല്ക്കാരന് വാള് വരുന്നതു കണ്ടു കാഹളം ഊതാതെയും ജനം കരുതിക്കൊള്ളാതെയും ഇരുന്നിട്ടു വാള് വന്നു അവരുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു ഒരുത്തനെ ഛേദിച്ചുകളയുന്നു എങ്കില്, ഇവന് തന്റെ അകൃത്യംനിമിത്തം ഛേദിക്കപ്പെട്ടുപോയി എങ്കിലും അവന്റെ രക്തം ഞാന് കാവല്ക്കാരനോടു ചോദിക്കും.

6. 'If, however, the watchman has seen the sword coming but has not blown his horn, and so the people are not alerted and the sword overtakes them and destroys a single one of them, that person will indeed die for his guilt, but I shall hold the watchman responsible for his death.'

7. അതുപോലെ മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, ഞാന് നിന്നെ യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു കാവല്ക്കാരനാക്കി വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു, നീ എന്റെ വായില്നിന്നു വചനം കേട്ടു എന്റെ നാമത്തില് അവരെ ഔര്മ്മപ്പെടുത്തേണം.

7. 'Son of man I have appointed you as watchman for the House of Israel. When you hear a word from my mouth, warn them from me.

8. ഞാന് ദുഷ്ടനോടുദുഷ്ടാ, നീ മരിക്കും എന്നു കല്പിക്കുമ്പോള് ദുഷ്ടന് തന്റെ വഴി വിട്ടുതിരിവാന് കരുതിക്കൊള്ളത്തക്കവണ്ണം നീ അവനെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിക്കാതെയിരുന്നാല് ദുഷ്ടന് തന്റെ അകൃത്യംനിമിത്തം മരിക്കും; അവന്റെ രക്തമോ ഞാന് നിന്നോടു ചോദിക്കും.

8. If I say to someone wicked, 'Evil- doer, you are to die,' and you do not speak to warn the wicked person to renounce such ways, the wicked person will die for this guilt, but I shall hold you responsible for the death.

9. എന്നാല് ദുഷ്ടന് തന്റെ വഴി വിട്ടുതിരിയേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ അവനെ ഔര്മ്മപ്പെടുത്തീട്ടും അവന് തന്റെ വഴി വിട്ടുതിരിയാഞ്ഞാല്, അവന് തന്റെ അകൃത്യംനിമിത്തം മരിക്കും, നീയോ, നിന്റെ പ്രാണനെ രക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

9. If, however, you do warn someone wicked to renounce such ways and repent, and that person does not repent, then the culprit will die for this guilt, but you yourself will have saved your life.

10. അതുകൊണ്ടു മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, നീ യിസ്രായേല് ഗൃഹത്തോടു പറയേണ്ടതുഞങ്ങളുടെ അതിക്രമങ്ങളും പാപങ്ങളും ഞങ്ങളുടെ മേല് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അവയാല് ഞങ്ങള് ക്ഷയിച്ചുപോകുന്നു; ഞങ്ങള് എങ്ങനെ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നു.

10. 'Son of man, say to the House of Israel, 'You are continually saying: Our crimes and sins weigh heavily on us; we are wasting away because of them. How are we to go on living?'

11. എന്നാണ, ദുഷ്ടന്റെ മരണത്തില് അല്ല, ദുഷ്ടന് തന്റെ വഴി വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു ജീവിക്കുന്നതില് അത്രേ എനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളതെന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു; നിങ്ങളുടെ ദുര്മ്മാര്ഗ്ഗങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുതിരിവിന് , തിരിവിന് ; യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ, നിങ്ങള് എന്തിന്നു മരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവരോടു പറക.

11. Say to them, 'As I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- I do not take pleasure in the death of the wicked but in the conversion of the wicked who changes his ways and saves his life. Repent, turn back from your evil ways. Why die, House of Israel?'

12. മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, നീ നിന്റെ സ്വജാതിക്കാരോടു പറയേണ്ടതുനീതിമാന് അതിക്രമം ചെയ്യുന്ന നാളില് അവന്റെ നീതി അവനെ രക്ഷിക്കയില്ല; ദുഷ്ടന് തന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത വിട്ടുതിരിയുന്ന നാളില് തന്റെ ദുഷ്ടതയാല് ഇടറിവീഴുകയില്ല; നീതിമാന് പാപം ചെയ്യുന്ന നാളില്, അവന്നു തന്റെ നീതിയാല് ജീവിപ്പാന് കഴികയുമില്ല.

12. 'Son of man, say to the members of your nation, 'The uprightness of an upright person will not save him once he takes to wrong-doing; the wickedness of a wicked person will not ruin him once he renounces his wickedness. No one upright will be able to live on the strength of uprightness, having once taken to sinning.

13. നീതിമാന് ജീവിക്കുമെന്നു ഞാന് അവനോടു പറയുമ്പോള്, അവന് തന്റെ നീതിയില് ആശ്രയിച്ചു അകൃത്യം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്, അവന്റെ നീതിപ്രവൃത്തികള് ഒന്നും അവന്നു കണക്കിടുകയില്ല; അവന് ചെയ്ത നീതികേടുനിമിത്തം അവന് മരിക്കും.

13. If I say to someone upright: You are to live, and then, trusting in this uprightness, he does wrong, none of the uprightness will be remembered; because of the wrong-doing, he will die.

14. എന്നാല് ഞാന് ദുഷ്ടനോടുനീ മരിക്കും എന്നു പറയുമ്പോള് അവന് തന്റെ പാപം വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കയും

14. If, however, I say to someone wicked: You are to die, and he turns back from sin and does what is lawful and upright,

15. പണയം തിരികെ കൊടുക്കയും അപഹരിച്ചതു മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കയും നീതികേടു ഒന്നും ചെയ്യാതെ ജീവന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ അനുസരിക്കയും ചെയ്താല് അവന് മരിക്കാതെ ജീവിക്കും.

15. if he returns pledges, restores what he has stolen, keeps the laws that give life and no longer does wrong, he will live and will not die.

16. അവന് ചെയ്ത പാപം ഒന്നും അവന്നു കണക്കിടുകയില്ല; അവന് നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് ജീവിക്കും.

16. None of his previous sins will be remembered against him; having done what is lawful and upright, he will live.

17. എന്നാല് നിന്റെ സ്വജാതിക്കാര്കര്ത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ചൊവ്വുള്ളതല്ല എന്നു പറയുന്നു; അവരുടെ വഴിയത്രേ ചൊവ്വില്ലാതെയിരിക്കുന്നതു.

17. 'But the members of your nation say: What the Lord does is unjust. But it is what you do that is unjust.

18. നീതിമാന് തന്റെ നീതി വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നീതികേടു പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവന് അതിനാല് തന്നേ മരിക്കും.

18. When an upright person gives up being upright and does wrong, he dies for it.

19. എന്നാല് ദുഷ്ടന് തന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നീതിയും ന്യായവും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില് അവന് അതിനാല് ജീവിക്കും.

19. And when a wicked person gives up being wicked and does what is lawful and upright, because of this he lives.

20. എന്നിട്ടും കര്ത്താവിന്റെ വഴി ചൊവ്വുള്ളതല്ല എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറയുന്നു; യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹമേ, ഞാന് നിങ്ങളില് ഔരോരുത്തനെയും അവനവന്റെ നടപ്പിന്നു തക്കവണ്ണം ന്യായംവിധിക്കും.

20. But you say: What the Lord does is unjust! I shall judge each of you by what you do, House of Israel.' '

21. ഞങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവാസത്തിന്റെ പന്ത്രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടു, പത്താം മാസം, അഞ്ചാം തിയ്യതി, യെരൂശലേമില്നിന്നു ചാടിപ്പോയ ഒരുത്തന് എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുനഗരം പിടിക്കപ്പെട്ടുപോയി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. In the twelfth year of our captivity, on the fifth day of the tenth month, a fugitive arrived from Jerusalem and said to me, 'The city has been taken.'

22. ചാടിപ്പോയവന് വരുന്നതിന്റെ തലെനാള് വൈകുന്നേരം യഹോവയുടെ കൈ എന്റെമേല് വന്നു; രാവിലെ അവന് എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുമ്പോഴേക്കു യഹോവ എന്റെ വായ് തുറന്നിരുന്നു; അങ്ങനെ എന്റെ വായ് തുറന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് പിന്നെ മിണ്ടാതെ ഇരുന്നില്ല.

22. Now the hand of the Lord had been on me the evening before the fugitive arrived; he had opened my mouth before the fugitive came to me the next morning; my mouth had been opened and I was dumb no longer.

23. യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എനിക്കുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ,

23. The word of Yahweh was then addressed to me as follows,

24. യിസ്രായേല്ദേശത്തിലെ ശൂന്യസ്ഥലങ്ങളില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നവര്അബ്രഹാം ഏകനായിരിക്കെ അവന്നു ദേശം അവകാശമായി ലഭിച്ചു; ഞങ്ങളോ പലരാകുന്നു; ഈ ദേശം ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു അവകാശമായി ലഭിക്കും എന്നു പറയുന്നു.

24. 'Son of man, the people living in those ruins on the soil of Israel say this, 'Abraham was alone when he was given possession of this country. But we are many; the country has been given us as our heritage.'

25. അതുകൊണ്ടു നീ അവരോടു പറയേണ്ടതുയഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങള് മാംസം രക്തത്തോടുകൂടെ തിന്നുകയും നിങ്ങളുടെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ നോക്കി നമസ്കരിക്കയും രക്തം ചൊരികയും ചെയ്യുന്നു;

25. 'Very well, tell them, 'The Lord Yahweh says this: You eat blood, you raise your eyes to your foul idols, you shed blood; are you to own the country?

26. നിങ്ങള് ദേശത്തെ കൈവശമാക്കുമോ? നിങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ വാളില് ആശ്രയിക്കയും മ്ളേച്ഛത പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കയും ഔരോരുത്തനും തന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ വഷളാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് ദേശത്തെ കൈവശമാക്കുമോ?

26. You rely on your swords, you engage in loathsome practices, each of you defiles his neighbour's wife; are you to own the country?'

27. നീ അവരോടു പറയേണ്ടതുയഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഎന്നാണ, ശൂന്യസ്ഥലങ്ങളില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നവര് വാള്കൊണ്ടു വീഴും; വെളിന് പ്രദേശത്തുള്ളവരെ ഞാന് മൃഗങ്ങള്ക്കു ഇരയായി കൊടുക്കും; ദുര്ഗ്ഗങ്ങളിലും ഗുഹകളിലും ഉള്ളവരോ മഹാമാരികൊണ്ടു മരിക്കും.

27. Tell them this, 'The Lord Yahweh says this: As I live, I swear it, those in the ruins will fall to the sword, those in the countryside I shall give to the wild animals for them to eat, and those among the crags and in caves will die of plague.

28. ഞാന് ദേശത്തെ പാഴും ശൂന്യവും ആക്കും; അതിന്റെ ബലത്തിന്റെ പ്രതാപം നിന്നുപോകും; യിസ്രായേല്പര്വ്വതങ്ങള് ആരും വഴിപോകാതവണ്ണം ശൂന്യമായിത്തീരും.

28. I shall make the country a desolate waste, and the pride of its strength will be at an end. The mountains of Israel will be deserted and no one will pass that way again.

29. അവര് ചെയ്ത സകല മ്ളേച്ഛതകളും നിമിത്തം ഞാന് ദേശത്തെ പാഴും ശൂന്യവുമാക്കുമ്പോള് ഞാന് യഹോവ എന്നു അവര് അറിയും.

29. Then they will know that I am Yahweh, when I make the country a desolate waste because of all the filthy things they have done.'

30. മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, നിന്റെ സ്വജാതിക്കാര് മതിലുകള്ക്കരികത്തും വീട്ടുവാതില്ക്കലുംവെച്ചു നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു സംഭാഷിച്ചുയഹോവയിങ്കല്നിന്നുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാടു എന്തെന്നു വന്നു കേള്പ്പിന് എന്നു തമ്മില്തമ്മിലും ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ സഹോദരനോടും പറയുന്നു.

30. 'Son of man, the members of your nation are talking about you on the ramparts and in doorways. They keep saying to one another, 'Come and hear the word that has come from Yahweh.'

31. സംഘം കൂടിവരുന്നതുപോലെ അവര് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല്വന്നു എന്റെ ജനമായിട്ടു നിന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഇരുന്നു നിന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കേള്ക്കുന്നു; എന്നാല് അവര് അവയെ ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല; വായ്കൊണ്ടു അവര് വളരെ സ്നേഹം കാണിക്കുന്നു; ഹൃദയമോ, ദുരാഗ്രഹത്തെ പിന്തുടരുന്നു.

31. They throng towards you; my people sit down in front of you and listen to your words, but they do not act on them. What they act on is the lie in their mouths, and their hearts are set on dishonest gain.

32. നീ അവര്ക്കും മധുരസ്വരവും വാദ്യനൈപുണ്യവും ഉള്ള ഒരുത്തന്റെ പ്രേമഗീതംപോലെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് നിന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കേള്ക്കുന്നു; ചെയ്യുന്നില്ലതാനും.

32. As far as they are concerned, you are like a love song pleasantly sung to a good musical accompaniment. They listen to your words, but no one acts on them.

33. എന്നാല് അതു സംഭവിക്കുമ്പോള്--ഇതാ, അതു വരുന്നു--അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ഒരു പ്രവാചകന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നു അറിയും.

33. When the thing takes place -- and it is beginning now -- they will know that there has been a prophet among them.'
