1. ആദിയില് വചനം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; വചനം ദൈവത്തോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നു; വചനം ദൈവം ആയിരുന്നു.

3. All things were made by him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4. അവനില് ജീവന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ജീവന് മനുഷ്യരുടെ വെളിച്ചമായിരുന്നു.

4. In him was life, and the life was the light of men.

5. വെളിച്ചം ഇരുളില് പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നു; ഇരുളോ അതിനെ പിടിച്ചടക്കിയില്ല.

5. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness apprehended it not.

6. ദൈവം അയച്ചിട്ടു ഒരു മനുഷ്യന് വന്നു; അവന്നു യോഹന്നാന് എന്നു പേര്.

6. There was a man sent from God, whose name [was] John.

7. അവന് സാക്ഷ്യത്തിന്നായി താന് മുഖാന്തരം എല്ലാവരും വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വെളിച്ചത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു സാക്ഷ്യം പറവാന് തന്നേ വന്നു.

7. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all [men] through him might believe.

8. അവന് വെളിച്ചം ആയിരുന്നില്ല; വെളിച്ചത്തിന്നു സാക്ഷ്യം പറയേണ്ടുന്നവനത്രേ.

8. He was not the Light, but [was sent] to bear witness of the Light.

9. ഏതു മനുഷ്യനെയും പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കുന്ന സത്യവെളിച്ചം ലോകത്തിലേക്കു വന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

9. [That Word] was the true Light, which lightens every man that comes into this world.

10. അവന് ലോകത്തില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ലോകം അവന് മുഖാന്തരം ഉളവായി; ലോകമോ അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.

10. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11. അവന് സ്വന്തത്തിലേക്കു വന്നു; സ്വന്തമായവരോ അവനെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടില്ല.

11. He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12. അവനെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ നാമത്തില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ഏവര്ക്കും ദൈവമക്കള് ആകുവാന് അവന് അധികാരം കൊടുത്തു.

12. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name,

13. അവര് രക്തത്തില് നിന്നല്ല, ജഡത്തിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടത്താലല്ല, പുരുഷന്റെ ഇഷ്ടത്താലുമല്ല, ദൈവത്തില് നിന്നത്രേ ജനിച്ചതു.

13. who are not born of blood, nor of the will of flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14. വചനം ജഡമായി തീര്ന്നു, കൃപയും സത്യവും നിറഞ്ഞവനായി നമ്മുടെ ഇടയില് പാര്ത്തു. ഞങ്ങള് അവന്റെ തേജസ്സ് പിതാവില് നിന്നു ഏകജാതനായവന്റെ തേജസ്സായി കണ്ടു.

14. And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.

15. യോഹന്നാന് അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചുഎന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നവന് എനിക്കു മുമ്പനായി തീര്ന്നു; അവന് എനിക്കു മുമ്പെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞവന് ഇവന് തന്നേ എന്നു വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. John bore witness of him and cried, saying, This is he of whom I spoke, He that comes after me is preferred before me, for he was before me.

16. അവന്റെ നിറവില് നിന്നു നമുക്കു എല്ലാവര്ക്കും കൃപമേല് കൃപ ലഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. And of his fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.

17. ന്യായപ്രമാണം മോശെ മുഖാന്തരം ലഭിച്ചു; കൃപയും സത്യവും യേശുക്രിസ്തു മുഖാന്തരം വന്നു.

17. For the law was given through Moses, [but] the grace and the truth [of God] came through Jesus, the Christ.

18. ദൈവത്തെ ആരും ഒരുനാളും കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല; പിതാവിന്റെ മടിയില് ഇരിക്കുന്ന ഏകജാതനായ പുത്രന് അവനെ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

18. No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared [him].

19. നീ ആര് എന്നു യോഹന്നാനോടു ചോദിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാര് യെരൂശലേമില് നിന്നു പുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും ലേവ്യരെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചപ്പോള് അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യം എന്തെന്നാല്അവന് മറുക്കാതെ ഏറ്റുപറഞ്ഞു;

19. And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

20. ഞാന് ക്രിസ്തു അല്ല എന്നു ഏറ്റു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. And he confessed and denied not, but confessed, I am not the Christ.

21. പിന്നെ എന്തു? നീ ഏലീയാവോ എന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഅല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. നീ ആ പ്രവാചകനോ? എന്നതിന്നുഅല്ല എന്നു അവന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

21. And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he said, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.

22. അവര് അവനോടുനീ ആരാകുന്നു? ഞങ്ങളെ അയച്ചവരോടു ഉത്തരം പറയേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു തന്നേ എന്തു പറയുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

22. Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to those that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

23. അതിന്നു അവന് യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന് പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെകര്ത്താവിന്റെ വഴി നേരെ ആക്കുവിന് എന്നു മരുഭൂമിയില് വിളിച്ചുപറയുന്നവന്റെ ശബ്ദം ഞാന് ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

23. He said, I [am] the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah.

24. അയക്കപ്പെട്ടവര് പരീശന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലുള്ളവര് ആയിരുന്നു.

24. And those who were sent were of the Pharisees.

25. എന്നാല് നീ ക്രിസ്തുവല്ല, ഏലീയാവല്ല, ആ പ്രവാചകനും അല്ല എന്നു വരികില് നീ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു അവര് ചോദിച്ചു.

25. And they asked him and said unto him, Why dost thou baptize then if thou art not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?

26. അതിന്നു യോഹന്നാന് ഞാന് വെള്ളത്തില് സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് അറിയാത്ത ഒരുത്തന് നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് നിലക്കുന്നുണ്ടു;

26. John answered them, saying, I baptize with water, but there stands one among you, whom ye know not;

27. എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നവന് തന്നേ; അവന്റെ ചെരിപ്പിന്റെ വാറു അഴിപ്പാന് ഞാന് യോഗ്യന് അല്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

27. he it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

28. ഇതു യോര്ദ്ദന്നക്കാരെ യോഹന്നാന് സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന ബേഥാന്യയില് സംഭവിച്ചു.

28. These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

29. പിറ്റെന്നാള് യേശു തന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുന്നതു അവന് കണ്ടിട്ടുഇതാ, ലോകത്തിന്റെ പാപം ചുമക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞാടു;

29. The next day John saw Jesus coming unto him and said, Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.

30. എന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ഒരു പുരുഷന് വരുന്നു; അവന് എനിക്കു മുമ്പെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു എനിക്കു മുമ്പനായി തീര്ന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞവന് ഇവന് തന്നേ.

30. This is he of whom I said, After me comes a man who is preferred before me, for he was before me.

31. ഞാനോ അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; എങ്കിലും അവന് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു വെളിപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് വെള്ളത്തില് സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിപ്പാന് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

31. And I knew him not; but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

32. യോഹന്നാന് പിന്നെയും സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞതുആത്മാവു ഒരു പ്രാവുപോലെ സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവരുന്നതു ഞാന് കണ്ടു; അതു അവന്റെ മേല് വസിച്ചു.

32. And John gave testimony, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

33. ഞാനോ അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; എങ്കിലും വെള്ളത്തില് സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിപ്പാന് എന്നെ അയച്ചവന് എന്നോടുആരുടെമേല് ആത്മാവു ഇറങ്ങുന്നതും വസിക്കുന്നതും നീ കാണുമോ അവന് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവില് സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നവന് ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

33. And I knew him not; but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding on him, the same is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.

34. അങ്ങനെ ഞാന് കാണുകയും ഇവന് ദൈവപുത്രന് തന്നേ എന്നു സാക്ഷ്യം പറകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

34. And I have seen and have given testimony that this is the Son of God.

35. പിറ്റെന്നാള് യോഹന്നാന് പിന്നെയും തന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരില് രണ്ടുപേരുമായി അവിടെ നിലക്കുമ്പോള്

35. And again the next day John stood, and two of his disciples,

36. കടന്നുപോകുന്ന യേശുവിനെ നോക്കീട്ടുഇതാ, ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞാടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

36. and looking upon Jesus as he walked, he said, Behold the Lamb of God!

37. അവന് പറഞ്ഞതു ആ രണ്ടു ശിഷ്യന്മാര് കേട്ടു യേശുവിനെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.

37. And the two disciples heard him speak and followed Jesus.

38. യേശു തിരിഞ്ഞു അവര് പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നതു കണ്ടു അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് എന്തു അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അവര്റബ്ബീ, എന്നു വെച്ചാല് ഗുരോ, നീ എവിടെ പാര്ക്കുംന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

38. Then Jesus turned and saw them following and said unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi (which is to say, being interpreted, Master), where dwellest thou?

39. അവന് അവരോടുവന്നു കാണ്മിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവന് വസിക്കുന്ന ഇടം അവര് കണ്ടു അന്നു അവനോടുകൂടെ പാര്ത്തു; അപ്പോള് ഏകദേശം പത്താംമണി നേരം ആയിരുന്നു.

39. He said unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt and abode with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.

40. യോഹന്നാന് പറഞ്ഞതു കേട്ടു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ച രണ്ടുപേരില് ഒരുത്തന് ശിമോന് പത്രൊസിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അന്ത്രെയാസ് ആയിരുന്നു.

40. One of the two who heard John [speak] and followed him was Andrew, brother of Simon Peter.

41. അവന് തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ശിമോനെ ആദ്യം കണ്ടു അവനോടുഞങ്ങള് മശീഹയെ എന്നുവെച്ചാല് ക്രിസ്തുവെ കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

41. He first found his own brother Simon and said unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

42. അവനെ യേശുവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; യേശു അവനെ നോക്കിനീ യോഹന്നാന്റെ പുത്രനായ ശിമോന് ആകുന്നു; നിനക്കു കേഫാ എന്നു പേരാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതു പത്രൊസ് എന്നാകുന്നു.

42. And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jonah: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

43. പിറ്റെന്നാള് യേശു ഗലീലെക്കു പുറപ്പെടുവാന് ഭാവിച്ചപ്പോള് ഫിലിപ്പോസിനെ കണ്ടുഎന്നെ അനുഗമിക്ക എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

43. The day following Jesus desired to go forth into Galilee and found Philip and said unto him, Follow me.

44. ഫിലിപ്പോസോ അന്ത്രെയാസിന്റെയും പത്രൊസിന്റെയും പട്ടണമായ ബേത്ത് സയിദയില്നിന്നുള്ളവന് ആയിരുന്നു.

44. Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

45. ഫിലിപ്പോസ് നഥനയേലിനെ കണ്ടു അവനോടുന്യായപ്രമാണത്തില് മോശെയും പ്രവാചകന്മാരും എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നവനെ കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് യോസേഫിന്റെ പുത്രനായ യേശു എന്ന നസറെത്തുകാരന് തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

45. Philip found Nathanael and said unto him, We have found him of whom Moses in the law and the prophets wrote: Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

46. നഥനയേല് അവനോടുനസറെത്തില്നിന്നു വല്ല നന്മയും വരുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഫിലിപ്പോസ് അവനോടുവന്നു കാണ്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

46. And Nathanael said unto him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip said unto him, Come and see.

47. നഥനയേല് തന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുന്നതു യേശു കണ്ടുഇതാ, സാക്ഷാല് യിസ്രായേല്യന് ; ഇവനില് കപടം ഇല്ല എന്നു അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

47. Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him and said of him, Behold a true Israelite, in whom is no guile!

48. നഥനയേല് അവനോടുഎന്നെ എവിടെവെച്ചു അറിയും എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഫിലിപ്പോസ് നിന്നെ വിളിക്കുംമുമ്പെ നീ അത്തിയുടെ കീഴില് ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള് ഞാന് നിന്നെ കണ്ടു എന്നു യേശു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

48. Nathanael said unto him, From where dost thou know me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

49. നഥനയേല് അവനോടുറബ്ബീ, നീ ദൈവപുത്രന് , നീ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ രാജാവു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

49. Nathanael answered and said unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

50. യേശു അവനോടുഞാന് നിന്നെ അത്തിയുടെ കീഴില് കണ്ടു എന്നു നിന്നോടു പറകകൊണ്ടു നീ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നുവോ? നീ ഇതിനെക്കാള് വലിയതു കാണും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

50. Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.

51. ആമേന് ആമേന് ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നുസ്വര്ഗ്ഗം തുറന്നിരിക്കുന്നതും മനുഷ്യപുത്രന്റെ അടുക്കല് ദൈവദൂതന്മാര് കയറുകയും ഇറങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതും നിങ്ങള് കാണും എന്നും അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

51. And he said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see the heaven open and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.:
