1. Now when it came to pass that we had put to sea, having withdrawn from them, running a straight course we came to Cos, and on the next [day] to Rhodes, and from there to Patara.

2. And having found a ship crossing over to Phoenicia, we boarded it and put to sea.

3. കുപ്രോസ് ദ്വീപു കണ്ടു അതിനെ ഇടത്തുപുറം വിട്ടു സുറിയയിലേക്കു ഔടി സോരില് വന്നിറങ്ങി; കപ്പല് അവിടെ ചരകൂ ഇറക്കുവാനുള്ളതായിരുന്നു; ഞങ്ങള് ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ കണ്ടെത്തി, ഏഴുനാള് അവിടെ പാര്ത്തു.

3. When we had sighted Cyprus, and had left it behind [on the] left, we sailed to Syria, and put in to harbor in Tyre, for the ship was unloading its cargo.

4. അവര് പൌലൊസിനോടു യെരൂശലേമില് പോകുരുതു എന്നു ആത്മാവിനാല് പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And having discovered disciples, we stayed there seven days. They said to Paul through the Spirit not to go up to Jerusalem.

5. അവിടത്തെ താമസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഞങ്ങള് വിട്ടുപോകുമ്പോള് അവര് എല്ലാവരും സ്ത്രീകളും കുട്ടികളുമായി പട്ടണത്തിന്നു പുറത്തോളം ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ വന്നു കടല്ക്കരയില് മുട്ടുകുത്തി പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു തമ്മില് യാത്ര പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഞങ്ങള് കപ്പല് കയറി; അവര് വീട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

5. But when it came about that we had completed the days [there], having gone out we departed, all [of them] accompanying us, together with [their] wives and children, until [we were] outside the city. And having bowed [our] knees on the shore, we prayed.

6. ഞങ്ങള് സോര് വിട്ടു കപ്പലോട്ടം തികെച്ചു പ്തൊലെമായിസില് എത്തി സഹോദരന്മാരെ വന്ദനം ചെയ്തു ഒരു ദിവസം അവരോടുകൂടെ പാര്ത്തു.

6. And having greeted one another, we went up into the ship, and they returned to their own [homes].

7. പിറ്റെന്നാള് ഞങ്ങള് പുറപ്പെട്ടു കൈസര്യയില് എത്തി, ഏഴുവരില് ഒരുവനായ ഫിലപ്പൊസ് എന്ന സുവിശേഷകന്റെ വീട്ടില് ചെന്നു അവനോടുകൂടെ പാര്ത്തു.

7. And completing our voyage from Tyre, we arrived in Ptolemais, and having greeted the brothers, we stayed one day with them.

8. അവന്നു കന്യകമാരും പ്രവചിക്കുന്നവരുമായ നാലു പുത്രിമാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

8. On the next day those accompanying Paul went forth and came to Caesarea, and entering into the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, we stayed with him.

9. Now this man had four virgin daughters who prophesied.

10. And while we remained there several days, a certain prophet from Judea named Agabus came down.

11. ഇതു കേട്ടാറെ യെരൂശലേമില് പോകരുതു എന്നു ഞങ്ങളും അവിടത്തുകാരും അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

11. And coming to us and taking Paul's belt, and binding his feet and hands, he said, 'Thus says the Holy Spirit, ' The man whose belt this is, the Jews will bind in this way in Jerusalem, and they will deliver [him] into the hands of the Gentiles.''

12. അതിന്നു പൌലൊസ്നിങ്ങള് കരഞ്ഞു എന്റെ ഹൃദയം ഇങ്ങനെ തകര്ക്കുംന്നതു എന്തു? കര്ത്താവായ യേശുവിന്റെ നാമത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി ബന്ധിക്കപ്പെടുവാന് മാത്രമല്ല യെരൂശലേമില് മരിപ്പാനും ഞാന് ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

12. Now when we heard these things, both we and the local residents urged him not to go up to Jerusalem.

13. അവനെ സമ്മതിപ്പിച്ചുകൂടായ്കയാല്കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം നടക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ഞങ്ങള് മിണ്ടാതിരുന്നു.

13. Then Paul answered, 'What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem, in behalf of the name of the Lord Jesus.'

14. അവിടത്തെ താമസം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഞങ്ങള് യാത്രെക്കു കോപ്പുകൂട്ടി യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു പോയി.

14. And when he remained unpersuaded, we were silent and said, 'Let the will of the Lord be done.'

15. കൈസര്യയിലെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരില് ചിലരും ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ പോന്നു, കുപ്രൊസ്കാരനായ മ്നാസോന് എന്ന ഒരു പഴയശിഷ്യനോടുകൂടെ അതിഥികളായ്പാര്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

15. Now after those days, having prepared, we went up to Jerusalem.

16. യെരൂശലേമില് എത്തിപ്പോള് സഹോദരന്മാര് ഞങ്ങളെ സന്തോഷത്തോട കൈക്കൊണ്ടു.

16. Also some of the disciples from Caesarea went with us and brought with them a certain Cypriot named Mnason, a long-standing disciple, with whom we would stay as a guest.

17. പിറ്റെന്നു പൌലെസും ഞങ്ങളും യാക്കോബിന്റെ അടുക്കല് പോയി; മൂപ്പന്മാരും എല്ലാം അവിടെ വന്നു കൂടി.

17. And when we arrived in Jerusalem, the brothers gladly received us.

18. അവന് അവരെ വന്ദനം ചെയ്തു തന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷയാല് ദൈവം ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില് ചെയ്യിച്ചതു ഔരോന്നായി വിവരിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. On the next day Paul was going in with us to James, and all the elders were present.

19. അവര് കേട്ടു ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തി. പിന്നെ അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുസഹോദരാ, യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഇടയില് വിശ്വസിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവര് എത്ര ആയിരം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു നീ കാണുന്നുവല്ലോ; അവര് എല്ലാവരും ന്യായ പ്രമാണതല്പരന്മാര് ആകുന്നു.

19. And having greeted them, he reported one by one those things which God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.

20. മക്കളെ പരിച്ഛേദന ചെയ്യരുതു എന്നും നീ മര്യാദ അനുസരിച്ചു നടക്കരുതു എന്നും നീ ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയിലുള്ള സകല യെഹൂദന്മാരോടും പറഞ്ഞു മോശെയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുകളവാന് ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവര് നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

20. And hearing this, they were glorifying the Lord, saying to him, 'You see, brother, how many myriads of Jews there are having believed, and they are all zealous for the law;

21. ആകയാല് എന്താകുന്നു വേണ്ടതു? നീവന്നിട്ടുണ്ടു എന്നു അവര് കേള്ക്കും നിശ്ചയം.

21. and they have been informed about you, that you are teaching defection from Moses, to all the Jews who are among the Gentiles, saying for them not to circumcise their children nor to walk in our customs.

22. ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നോടു ഈ പറയുന്നതു ചെയ്ക; നേര്ച്ചയുള്ള നാലു പുരുഷന്മാര് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ഉണ്ടു.

22. What then? It is necessary for an assembly to come together; for they will hear that you have come.

23. അവരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു അവരോടുകൂടെ നിന്നെ ശുദ്ധിവരുത്തി അവരുടെ തല ക്ഷൌരം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര്ക്കും വേണ്ടി ചെലവു ചെയ്ക; എന്നാല് നിന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു കേട്ടതു ഉള്ളതല്ല എന്നും നീയും ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെ ആചരിച്ചു ക്രമമായി നടക്കുന്നവന് എന്നും എല്ലാവരും അറിയും.

23. Therefore do this, which we say to you: There are four men with us who have taken a vow upon themselves.

24. Take them and purify yourself with them, and pay for them that they may have their head shaved, and that all may know that those things of which they have been informed about you are nothing, but [that] you are agreeing with and keeping the law yourself.

25. അങ്ങനെ പൌലൊസ് ആ പുരുഷന്മാരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പിറ്റെന്നാള് അവരോടുകൂടെ തന്നെ ശുദ്ധിവരുത്തി ദൈവാലയത്തില് ചെന്നു; അവരില് ഔരോരുത്തന്നുവേണ്ടി വഴിപാടു കഴിപ്പാനുള്ള ശുദ്ധീകരണകാലം തികഞ്ഞു എന്നു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

25. But concerning the Gentiles having believed, we wrote, having judged that they should keep no such thing, except that they should keep themselves from things offered to idols, from blood, and [from anything] strangled, and from fornication.'

26. ആ ഏഴു ദിവസം തീരാറായപ്പോള് ആസ്യയില് നിന്നു വന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാര് അവനെ ദൈവാലയത്തില് കണ്ടിട്ടു പുരുഷാരത്തെ ഒക്കെയും ഇളക്കി അവനെ പിടിച്ചു;

26. Then Paul, having taken the men, on the next day having been purified with them, entered into the temple, [thus] giving notice to the completion of the days of the purification, until [the time] when the offering was offered in behalf of each one of them.

27. യിസ്രായേല്പുരുഷന്മാരേ, സഹായിപ്പിന് ഇവന് ആകുന്നു ജനത്തിന്നും ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന്നും ഈ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നും വിരോധമായി എല്ലായിടത്തും എല്ലാവരെയും ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നവന് ; അവന് യവനന്മാരെയും ദൈവാലയത്തില് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ഈ വിശുദ്ധ സ്ഥലം തീണ്ടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു വിളിച്ചുക്കുകി.

27. Now when the seven days were about to be completed, the Jews from Asia, seeing him in the temple, were stirring up all the crowd and put their hands on him,

28. അവര് മുമ്പെ എഫെസ്യനായ ത്രോഫിമോസിനെ അവനോടുകൂടെ നഗരത്തില് കണ്ടതിനാല് പൌലൊസ് അവനെ ദൈവാലത്തില് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നു എന്നു നിരൂപിച്ചു.

28. crying out, 'Men, Israelites, help! This is the man who is teaching all [people] everywhere against the people and the Law and this place; and furthermore he has brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place.'

29. നഗരം എല്ലാം ഇളകി ജനം ഔടിക്കൂടി പൌലൊസിനെ പിടിച്ചു ദൈവാലയത്തിന്നു പുറത്തേക്കു ഇഴെച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോയി; ഉടനെ വാതിലുകള് അടെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

29. For they had seen Trophimus the Ephesian in the city with him, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.

30. അവര് അവനെ കൊല്ലുവാന് ശ്രമിക്കുമ്പോള് യെരൂശലേം ഒക്കെയും കലക്കത്തില് ആയി എന്നു പട്ടാളത്തിന്റെ സഹസ്രാധിപന്നു വര്ത്തമാനം എത്തി.

30. And all the city was aroused; and there was a mob forming of the people, and taking hold of Paul they were dragging him outside the temple; and immediately the doors were shut.

31. അവന് ക്ഷണത്തില് പടയാളികളെയും ശതാധിപന്മാരെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു അവരുടെ നേരെ പാഞ്ഞുവന്നു; അവര് സഹസ്രാധിപനെയും പടയാളികളെയും കണ്ടപ്പോള് പൌലൊസിനെ അടിക്കുന്നത് നിറുത്തി.

31. And seeking to kill him, a report went up to the commander of the garrison that all Jerusalem had been stirred up,

32. സഹസ്രാധിപന് അടത്തുവന്നു അവനെ പിടിച്ചു രണ്ടു ചങ്ങലവെപ്പാന് കല്പിച്ചു; ആര് എന്നും എന്തു ചെയ്തു എന്നും ചോദിച്ചു.

32. who immediately having taken along soldiers and centurions, ran down among them. And when they saw the commander and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.

33. പുരുഷാരത്തില് ചിലര് ഇങ്ങനെയും ചിലര് അങ്ങനെയും നിലവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; ആരവാരം ഹേതുവായി നിശ്ചയം ഒന്നും അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടായ്കയാല് അവനെ കോട്ടയിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകുവാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

33. And the commander, approaching, took hold of him, and ordered him to be bound with two chains; and he was inquiring who he might be and what he had done.

34. പടിക്കെട്ടിന്മേല്ആയപ്പോള്അവനെ കൊന്നുകളക എന്നു ആര്ത്തുകൊണ്ടു ജന സമൂഹം പിന് ചെല്ലുകയാല്

34. But others among the crowd were crying out one thing and some another; and because he was unable to ascertain the truth because of the noise, he commanded him to be brought into the barracks.

35. പുരുഷാരത്തിന്റെ ബലാല്ക്കാരം പേടിച്ചിട്ടു പടയാളികള് അവനെ എടുക്കേണ്ടിവന്നു.

35. But when he arrived at the stairs, he had to be carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the crowd.

36. കോട്ടയില് കടക്കുമാറായപ്പോള് പൌലൊസ് സഹസ്രാധിപനോടുഎനിക്കു നിന്നോടു ഒരു വാക്കു പറയാമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവന് നിനക്കു യവനഭാഷ അറിയാമോ?

36. For the multitude of the people was following, calling out, 'take him away!'

37. കുറെ നാള് മുമ്പെ കലഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കി നാലായിരം കട്ടാരക്കാരെ മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയ മിസ്രയീമ്യന് നീ അല്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

37. Then as Paul was about to be led into the barracks, he said to the commander, 'Is it permitted from me to speak to you?' And he said, 'Do you know Greek?

38. അതിന്നു പൌലൊസ്ഞാന് കിലിക്യയില് തര്സൊസ് എന്ന പ്രസിദ്ധനഗരത്തിലെ പൌരനായോരു യെഹൂദന് ആകുന്നു. ജനത്തോടു സംസാരിപ്പാന് അനുവദിക്കേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

38. Are you not then the Egyptian who rose up before these days, and led forth the four thousand men of the assassins into the wilderness?'

39. അവന് അനുവദിച്ചപ്പോള് പൌലൊസ് പടിക്കെട്ടിന്മേല് നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു ജനത്തോടു ആംഗ്യം കാട്ടി, വളരെ മൌനമായ ശേഷം എബ്രായഭാഷയില് വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതാവിതു

39. But Paul said, 'I am a Jew from Tarsus of Cilicia, a citizen of no obscure city; and I request of you, permit me to speak to the people.'
