1. എന്റെ മകനേ, ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിലുള്ള കൃപയാല് ശക്തിപ്പെടുക.

1. So you, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

2. നീ പല സാക്ഷികളുടെ മുമ്പാകെ എന്നോടു കേട്ടതെല്ലാം മറ്റുള്ളവരെ ഉപദേശിപ്പാന് സമര്ത്ഥരായ വിശ്വസ്ഥമനുഷ്യരെ ഭരമേല്പിക്ക.

2. And what you heard from me through many witnesses entrust to faithful people who will have the ability to teach others as well.

3. ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിന്റെ നല്ല ഭടനായി നീയും എന്നോടുകൂടെ കഷ്ടം സഹിക്ക.

3. Bear your share of hardship along with me like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

4. പട ചേര്ത്തവനെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യാതൊരു പടയാളിയും ജീവനകാര്യങ്ങളില് ഇടപെടാതിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. To satisfy the one who recruited him, a soldier does not become entangled in the business affairs of life.

5. ഒരുത്തന് മല്ലുകെട്ടിയാലും ചട്ടപ്രകാരം പൊരായ്കില് കിരീടം പ്രാപിക്കയില്ല.

5. Similarly, an athlete cannot receive the winner's crown except by competing according to the rules.

6. അദ്ധ്വാനിക്കുന്ന കൃഷിക്കാരന് ആകുന്നു ആദ്യം ഫലം അനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടതു.

6. The hardworking farmer ought to have the first share of the crop.

7. ഞാന് പറയുന്നതു ചിന്തിച്ചുകൊള്ക. കര്ത്താവു സകലത്തിലും നിനക്കു ബുദ്ധി നലകുമല്ലോ;

7. Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.

8. ദാവീദിന്റെ സന്തതിയായി ജനിച്ചു മരിച്ചിട്ടു ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റിരിക്കുന്ന യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിനെ ഔര്ത്തുകൊള്ക.

8. Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David: such is my gospel,

9. അതു ആകുന്നു എന്റെ സുവിശേഷം. അതു അറിയിക്കുന്നതില് ഞാന് ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരന് എന്നപോലെ ചങ്ങലധരിച്ചു കഷ്ടം സഹിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവവചനത്തിന്നോ ബന്ധനം ഇല്ല.

9. for which I am suffering, even to the point of chains, like a criminal. But the word of God is not chained.

10. അതുകൊണ്ടു ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിലുള്ള രക്ഷ നിത്യതേജസ്സോടുകൂടെ വൃതന്മാര്ക്കും കിട്ടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് അവര്ക്കായി സകലവും സഹിക്കുന്നു.

10. Therefore, I bear with everything for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, together with eternal glory.

11. നാം അവനോടുകൂടെ മരിച്ചു എങ്കില് കൂടെ ജീവിക്കും; സഹിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് കൂടെ വാഴും;

11. This saying is trustworthy: If we have died with him we shall also live with him;

12. നാം തള്ളിപ്പറയും എങ്കില് അവന് നമ്മെയും തള്ളിപ്പറയും.

12. if we persevere we shall also reign with him. But if we deny him he will deny us.

13. നാം അവിശ്വസ്തരായിത്തീര്ന്നാലും അവന് വിശ്വസ്തനായി പാര്ക്കുംന്നു; തന്റെ സ്വഭാവം ത്യജിപ്പാന് അവന്നു കഴികയില്ലല്ലോ; ഈ വചനം വിശ്വാസയോഗ്യമാകുന്നു.

13. If we are unfaithful he remains faithful, for he cannot deny himself.

14. കേള്ക്കുന്നവരെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നതിനാല്ലാതെ ഒന്നിന്നും കൊള്ളാത്ത വാഗ്വാദം ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കേണമെന്നു കര്ത്താവിനെ സാക്ഷിയാക്കി അവരെ ഔര്മ്മപ്പെടുത്തുക.

14. Remind people of these things and charge them before God to stop disputing about words. This serves no useful purpose sinceit harms those who listen.

15. സത്യവചനത്തെ യഥാര്ത്ഥമായി പ്രസംഗിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ലജ്ജിപ്പാന് സംഗതിയില്ലാത്ത വേലക്കാരനായി ദൈവത്തിന്നു കൊള്ളാകുന്നവനായി നില്പാന് ശ്രമിക്ക.

15. Be eager to present yourself as acceptable to God, a workman who causes no disgrace, imparting the word of truth without deviation.

16. ഭക്തിവിരുദ്ധമായ വൃഥാലാപങ്ങളെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്ക; ആ വകക്കാര്ക്കും അഭക്തി അധികം മുതിര്ന്നുവരും;

16. Avoid profane, idle talk, for such people will become more and more godless,

17. അവരുടെ വാക്കു അര്ബ്ബുദവ്യാധിപോലെ തിന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും.

17. and their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,

18. ഹുമനയോസും ഫിലേത്തൊസും അവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് ഉള്ളവരാകുന്നു; അവര് സത്യം വിട്ടു തെറ്റിപുനരുത്ഥാനം കഴിഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ചിലരുടെ വിശ്വാസം മറിച്ചു കളയുന്നു.

18. who have deviated from the truth by saying that (the) resurrection has already taken place and are upsetting the faith of some.

19. എങ്കിലും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥിരമായ അടിസ്ഥാനം നിലനിലക്കുന്നു; കര്ത്താവു തനിക്കുള്ളവരെ അറിയുന്നു എന്നും കര്ത്താവിന്റെ നാമം ഉച്ചരിക്കുന്നവന് എല്ലാം അനീതി വിട്ടകന്നുകൊള്ളട്ടെ എന്നും ആകുന്നു അതിന്റെ മുദ്ര.

19. Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands, bearing this inscription, 'The Lord knows those who are his'; and, 'Leteveryone who calls upon the name of the Lord avoid evil.'

20. എന്നാല് ഒരു വലിയ വീട്ടില് പൊന്നും വെള്ളിയും കൊണ്ടുള്ള സാമാനങ്ങള് മാത്രമല്ല, മരവും മണ്ണുംകൊണ്ടുള്ളവയും ഉണ്ടു; ചിലതു മാന്യകാര്യത്തിന്നും ചിലതു ഹീനകാര്യത്തിന്നും ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു.

20. In a large household there are vessels not only of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for lofty and others for humble use.

21. ഇവയെ വിട്ടകന്നു തന്നെത്താന് വെടിപ്പാക്കുന്നവന് വിശുദ്ധവും ഉടമസ്ഥന്നു ഉപയോഗവുമായി നല്ല വേലെക്കു ഒക്കെയും ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്ന മാന പാത്രം ആയിരിക്കും.

21. If anyone cleanses himself of these things, he will be a vessel for lofty use, dedicated, beneficial to the master of the house, ready for every good work.

22. യൌവനമോഹങ്ങളെ വിട്ടോടി നീതിയും വിശ്വാസവും സ്നേഹവും ശുദ്ധഹൃദയത്തോടെ കര്ത്താവിനെ വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാവരോടും സമാധാനവും ആചരിക്ക.

22. So turn from youthful desires and pursue righteousness, faith,love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord with purity of heart.

23. ബുദ്ധിയില്ലാത്ത മൌഢ്യതര്ക്കം ശണ്ഠ ജനിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നറിഞ്ഞു അതു ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്ക.

23. Avoid foolish and ignorant debates, for you know that they breed quarrels.

24. കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ദാസന് ശണ്ഠ ഇടാതെ എല്ലാവരോടും ശാന്തനും ഉപദേശിപ്പാന് സമര്ത്ഥനും ദോഷം സഹിക്കുന്നവനുമായി അത്രേ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതു.

24. A slave of the Lord should not quarrel, but should be gentle with everyone, able to teach, tolerant,

25. വിരോധികള്ക്കു ദൈവം സത്യത്തിന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിന്നായി മാനസാന്തരം നലകുമോ എന്നും

25. correcting opponents with kindness. It may be that God will grant them repentance that leads to knowledge of the truth,

26. പിശാചിനാല് പിടിപെട്ടു കുടുങ്ങിയവരാകയാല് അവര് സുബോധം പ്രാപിച്ചു അവന്റെ കണിയില് നിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞു ദൈവേഷ്ടം ചെയ്യുമോ എന്നും വെച്ചു അവരെ സൌമ്യതയോടെ പഠിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതും ആകുന്നു.

26. and that they may return to their senses out of the devil's snare, where they are entrapped by him, for his will.
