1. എന്റെ മകനേ, ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിലുള്ള കൃപയാല് ശക്തിപ്പെടുക.

1. Thou, therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that [is] in Christ Jesus,

2. നീ പല സാക്ഷികളുടെ മുമ്പാകെ എന്നോടു കേട്ടതെല്ലാം മറ്റുള്ളവരെ ഉപദേശിപ്പാന് സമര്ത്ഥരായ വിശ്വസ്ഥമനുഷ്യരെ ഭരമേല്പിക്ക.

2. and the things that thou didst hear from me through many witnesses, these things be committing to stedfast men, who shall be sufficient also others to teach;

3. ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിന്റെ നല്ല ഭടനായി നീയും എന്നോടുകൂടെ കഷ്ടം സഹിക്ക.

3. thou, therefore, suffer evil as a good soldier of Jesus Christ;

4. പട ചേര്ത്തവനെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യാതൊരു പടയാളിയും ജീവനകാര്യങ്ങളില് ഇടപെടാതിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. no one serving as a soldier did entangle himself with the affairs of life, that him who did enlist him he may please;

5. ഒരുത്തന് മല്ലുകെട്ടിയാലും ചട്ടപ്രകാരം പൊരായ്കില് കിരീടം പ്രാപിക്കയില്ല.

5. and if also any one may strive, he is not crowned, except he may strive lawfully;

6. അദ്ധ്വാനിക്കുന്ന കൃഷിക്കാരന് ആകുന്നു ആദ്യം ഫലം അനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടതു.

6. the labouring husbandman it behoveth first of the fruits to partake;

7. ഞാന് പറയുന്നതു ചിന്തിച്ചുകൊള്ക. കര്ത്താവു സകലത്തിലും നിനക്കു ബുദ്ധി നലകുമല്ലോ;

7. be considering what things I say, for the Lord give to thee understanding in all things.

8. ദാവീദിന്റെ സന്തതിയായി ജനിച്ചു മരിച്ചിട്ടു ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റിരിക്കുന്ന യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിനെ ഔര്ത്തുകൊള്ക.

8. Remember Jesus Christ, raised out of the dead, of the seed of David, according to my good news,

9. അതു ആകുന്നു എന്റെ സുവിശേഷം. അതു അറിയിക്കുന്നതില് ഞാന് ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരന് എന്നപോലെ ചങ്ങലധരിച്ചു കഷ്ടം സഹിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവവചനത്തിന്നോ ബന്ധനം ഇല്ല.

9. in which I suffer evil -- unto bonds, as an evil-doer, but the word of God hath not been bound;

10. അതുകൊണ്ടു ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിലുള്ള രക്ഷ നിത്യതേജസ്സോടുകൂടെ വൃതന്മാര്ക്കും കിട്ടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് അവര്ക്കായി സകലവും സഹിക്കുന്നു.

10. because of this all things do I endure, because of the choice ones, that they also salvation may obtain that [is] in Christ Jesus, with glory age-during.

11. നാം അവനോടുകൂടെ മരിച്ചു എങ്കില് കൂടെ ജീവിക്കും; സഹിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് കൂടെ വാഴും;

11. Stedfast [is] the word: For if we died together -- we also shall live together;

12. നാം തള്ളിപ്പറയും എങ്കില് അവന് നമ്മെയും തള്ളിപ്പറയും.

12. if we do endure together -- we shall also reign together; if we deny [him], he also shall deny us;

13. നാം അവിശ്വസ്തരായിത്തീര്ന്നാലും അവന് വിശ്വസ്തനായി പാര്ക്കുംന്നു; തന്റെ സ്വഭാവം ത്യജിപ്പാന് അവന്നു കഴികയില്ലല്ലോ; ഈ വചനം വിശ്വാസയോഗ്യമാകുന്നു.

13. if we are not stedfast, he remaineth stedfast; to deny himself he is not able.

14. കേള്ക്കുന്നവരെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നതിനാല്ലാതെ ഒന്നിന്നും കൊള്ളാത്ത വാഗ്വാദം ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കേണമെന്നു കര്ത്താവിനെ സാക്ഷിയാക്കി അവരെ ഔര്മ്മപ്പെടുത്തുക.

14. These things remind [them] of, testifying fully before the Lord -- not to strive about words to nothing profitable, but to the subversion of those hearing;

15. സത്യവചനത്തെ യഥാര്ത്ഥമായി പ്രസംഗിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ലജ്ജിപ്പാന് സംഗതിയില്ലാത്ത വേലക്കാരനായി ദൈവത്തിന്നു കൊള്ളാകുന്നവനായി നില്പാന് ശ്രമിക്ക.

15. be diligent to present thyself approved to God -- a workman irreproachable, rightly dividing the word of the truth;

16. ഭക്തിവിരുദ്ധമായ വൃഥാലാപങ്ങളെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്ക; ആ വകക്കാര്ക്കും അഭക്തി അധികം മുതിര്ന്നുവരും;

16. and the profane vain talkings stand aloof from, for to more impiety they will advance,

17. അവരുടെ വാക്കു അര്ബ്ബുദവ്യാധിപോലെ തിന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും.

17. and their word as a gangrene will have pasture, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus,

18. ഹുമനയോസും ഫിലേത്തൊസും അവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് ഉള്ളവരാകുന്നു; അവര് സത്യം വിട്ടു തെറ്റിപുനരുത്ഥാനം കഴിഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ചിലരുടെ വിശ്വാസം മറിച്ചു കളയുന്നു.

18. who concerning the truth did swerve, saying the rising again to have already been, and do overthrow the faith of some;

19. എങ്കിലും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥിരമായ അടിസ്ഥാനം നിലനിലക്കുന്നു; കര്ത്താവു തനിക്കുള്ളവരെ അറിയുന്നു എന്നും കര്ത്താവിന്റെ നാമം ഉച്ചരിക്കുന്നവന് എല്ലാം അനീതി വിട്ടകന്നുകൊള്ളട്ടെ എന്നും ആകുന്നു അതിന്റെ മുദ്ര.

19. sure, nevertheless, hath the foundation of God stood, having this seal, 'The Lord hath known those who are His,' and 'Let him depart from unrighteousness -- every one who is naming the name of Christ.'

20. എന്നാല് ഒരു വലിയ വീട്ടില് പൊന്നും വെള്ളിയും കൊണ്ടുള്ള സാമാനങ്ങള് മാത്രമല്ല, മരവും മണ്ണുംകൊണ്ടുള്ളവയും ഉണ്ടു; ചിലതു മാന്യകാര്യത്തിന്നും ചിലതു ഹീനകാര്യത്തിന്നും ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു.

20. And in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth, and some to honour, and some to dishonour:

21. ഇവയെ വിട്ടകന്നു തന്നെത്താന് വെടിപ്പാക്കുന്നവന് വിശുദ്ധവും ഉടമസ്ഥന്നു ഉപയോഗവുമായി നല്ല വേലെക്കു ഒക്കെയും ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്ന മാന പാത്രം ആയിരിക്കും.

21. if, then, any one may cleanse himself from these, he shall be a vessel to honour, sanctified and profitable to the master -- to every good work having been prepared,

22. യൌവനമോഹങ്ങളെ വിട്ടോടി നീതിയും വിശ്വാസവും സ്നേഹവും ശുദ്ധഹൃദയത്തോടെ കര്ത്താവിനെ വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാവരോടും സമാധാനവും ആചരിക്ക.

22. and the youthful lusts flee thou, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those calling upon the Lord out of a pure heart;

23. ബുദ്ധിയില്ലാത്ത മൌഢ്യതര്ക്കം ശണ്ഠ ജനിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നറിഞ്ഞു അതു ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്ക.

23. and the foolish and uninstructed questions be avoiding, having known that they beget strife,

24. കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ദാസന് ശണ്ഠ ഇടാതെ എല്ലാവരോടും ശാന്തനും ഉപദേശിപ്പാന് സമര്ത്ഥനും ദോഷം സഹിക്കുന്നവനുമായി അത്രേ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതു.

24. and a servant of the Lord it behoveth not to strive, but to be gentle unto all, apt to teach, patient under evil,

25. വിരോധികള്ക്കു ദൈവം സത്യത്തിന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിന്നായി മാനസാന്തരം നലകുമോ എന്നും

25. in meekness instructing those opposing -- if perhaps God may give to them repentance to an acknowledging of the truth,

26. പിശാചിനാല് പിടിപെട്ടു കുടുങ്ങിയവരാകയാല് അവര് സുബോധം പ്രാപിച്ചു അവന്റെ കണിയില് നിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞു ദൈവേഷ്ടം ചെയ്യുമോ എന്നും വെച്ചു അവരെ സൌമ്യതയോടെ പഠിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതും ആകുന്നു.

26. and they may awake out of the devil's snare, having been caught by him at his will.
