1. എന്റെ മകനേ, ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിലുള്ള കൃപയാല് ശക്തിപ്പെടുക.

1. Thou therfore my sonne, be strong in the grace that is in Christe Iesus.

2. നീ പല സാക്ഷികളുടെ മുമ്പാകെ എന്നോടു കേട്ടതെല്ലാം മറ്റുള്ളവരെ ഉപദേശിപ്പാന് സമര്ത്ഥരായ വിശ്വസ്ഥമനുഷ്യരെ ഭരമേല്പിക്ക.

2. And the thynges that thou haste hearde of me by many witnesses, the same commit thou to faythfull men, which shalbe apt to teache other also.

3. ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിന്റെ നല്ല ഭടനായി നീയും എന്നോടുകൂടെ കഷ്ടം സഹിക്ക.

3. Thou therfore suffer afflictions as a good souldier of Iesus Christe.

4. പട ചേര്ത്തവനെ പ്രസാദിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യാതൊരു പടയാളിയും ജീവനകാര്യങ്ങളില് ഇടപെടാതിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. No man that warreth, entangleth hym selfe with thaffayres of [this] lyfe, that he may please hym which hath chosen hym to be a souldier.

5. ഒരുത്തന് മല്ലുകെട്ടിയാലും ചട്ടപ്രകാരം പൊരായ്കില് കിരീടം പ്രാപിക്കയില്ല.

5. And if a man also wrestle, yet is he not crowned except he wrestle lawfullie.

6. അദ്ധ്വാനിക്കുന്ന കൃഷിക്കാരന് ആകുന്നു ആദ്യം ഫലം അനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടതു.

6. The labouryng husbandman, must first be partaker of the fruites.

7. ഞാന് പറയുന്നതു ചിന്തിച്ചുകൊള്ക. കര്ത്താവു സകലത്തിലും നിനക്കു ബുദ്ധി നലകുമല്ലോ;

7. Consider What I say: and the Lorde geue thee vnderstandyng in all thinges.

8. ദാവീദിന്റെ സന്തതിയായി ജനിച്ചു മരിച്ചിട്ടു ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റിരിക്കുന്ന യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിനെ ഔര്ത്തുകൊള്ക.

8. Remember that Iesus Christe, of the seede of Dauid, was raysed from the dead, accordyng to my Gospell,

9. അതു ആകുന്നു എന്റെ സുവിശേഷം. അതു അറിയിക്കുന്നതില് ഞാന് ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരന് എന്നപോലെ ചങ്ങലധരിച്ചു കഷ്ടം സഹിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവവചനത്തിന്നോ ബന്ധനം ഇല്ല.

9. Wherin I suffer trouble as an euyll doer, euen vnto bondes: But the worde of God is not bounde.

10. അതുകൊണ്ടു ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിലുള്ള രക്ഷ നിത്യതേജസ്സോടുകൂടെ വൃതന്മാര്ക്കും കിട്ടേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് അവര്ക്കായി സകലവും സഹിക്കുന്നു.

10. Therfore I suffer all thynges for the electes sakes, that they myght also obtaine the saluation, which is in Christ Iesus, with eternall glorie.

11. നാം അവനോടുകൂടെ മരിച്ചു എങ്കില് കൂടെ ജീവിക്കും; സഹിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് കൂടെ വാഴും;

11. It is a faythfull saying: for yf we be dead with hym, we shall also lyue with hym:

12. നാം തള്ളിപ്പറയും എങ്കില് അവന് നമ്മെയും തള്ളിപ്പറയും.

12. If we be patient, we shall also raigne with hym: If we denie hym, he also shall denie vs.

13. നാം അവിശ്വസ്തരായിത്തീര്ന്നാലും അവന് വിശ്വസ്തനായി പാര്ക്കുംന്നു; തന്റെ സ്വഭാവം ത്യജിപ്പാന് അവന്നു കഴികയില്ലല്ലോ; ഈ വചനം വിശ്വാസയോഗ്യമാകുന്നു.

13. If we be vnfaythful, he abideth faithfull, he can not denie hym selfe.

14. കേള്ക്കുന്നവരെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നതിനാല്ലാതെ ഒന്നിന്നും കൊള്ളാത്ത വാഗ്വാദം ചെയ്യാതിരിക്കേണമെന്നു കര്ത്താവിനെ സാക്ഷിയാക്കി അവരെ ഔര്മ്മപ്പെടുത്തുക.

14. Of these thynges put them in remembraunce, testifie before the Lorde, that they striue not about wordes to no profite, [but] to the peruertyng of ye hearers.

15. സത്യവചനത്തെ യഥാര്ത്ഥമായി പ്രസംഗിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ലജ്ജിപ്പാന് സംഗതിയില്ലാത്ത വേലക്കാരനായി ദൈവത്തിന്നു കൊള്ളാകുന്നവനായി നില്പാന് ശ്രമിക്ക.

15. Studie to shewe thy selfe approued vnto God, a workman not to be ashamed, rightlie deuidyng the worde of trueth.

16. ഭക്തിവിരുദ്ധമായ വൃഥാലാപങ്ങളെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്ക; ആ വകക്കാര്ക്കും അഭക്തി അധികം മുതിര്ന്നുവരും;

16. But prophane voyces of vanitie passe ouer: For they wyll encrease vnto greater vngodlynesse.

17. അവരുടെ വാക്കു അര്ബ്ബുദവ്യാധിപോലെ തിന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും.

17. And their worde shall fret as doth a cancker: of whom is Hymeneus and Philetus,

18. ഹുമനയോസും ഫിലേത്തൊസും അവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് ഉള്ളവരാകുന്നു; അവര് സത്യം വിട്ടു തെറ്റിപുനരുത്ഥാനം കഴിഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ചിലരുടെ വിശ്വാസം മറിച്ചു കളയുന്നു.

18. Which about the trueth haue erred, saying that the resurrection is past alredie, & do ouerthrowe the fayth of some.

19. എങ്കിലും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥിരമായ അടിസ്ഥാനം നിലനിലക്കുന്നു; കര്ത്താവു തനിക്കുള്ളവരെ അറിയുന്നു എന്നും കര്ത്താവിന്റെ നാമം ഉച്ചരിക്കുന്നവന് എല്ലാം അനീതി വിട്ടകന്നുകൊള്ളട്ടെ എന്നും ആകുന്നു അതിന്റെ മുദ്ര.

19. But the strong foundation of God standeth styl, hauyng this seale: The Lorde knoweth the that are his: And, let euery one that nameth the name of Christe, depart from iniquitie.

20. എന്നാല് ഒരു വലിയ വീട്ടില് പൊന്നും വെള്ളിയും കൊണ്ടുള്ള സാമാനങ്ങള് മാത്രമല്ല, മരവും മണ്ണുംകൊണ്ടുള്ളവയും ഉണ്ടു; ചിലതു മാന്യകാര്യത്തിന്നും ചിലതു ഹീനകാര്യത്തിന്നും ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു.

20. But in a great house are not onely vessels of golde, and of siluer, but also of wood and of earth: some to honour, and some vnto dishonour.

21. ഇവയെ വിട്ടകന്നു തന്നെത്താന് വെടിപ്പാക്കുന്നവന് വിശുദ്ധവും ഉടമസ്ഥന്നു ഉപയോഗവുമായി നല്ല വേലെക്കു ഒക്കെയും ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്ന മാന പാത്രം ആയിരിക്കും.

21. If a man therfore pourge hym selfe from these, he shalbe a vessell vnto honour, and meete for ye vses of the Lorde, and prepared vnto euery good worke.

22. യൌവനമോഹങ്ങളെ വിട്ടോടി നീതിയും വിശ്വാസവും സ്നേഹവും ശുദ്ധഹൃദയത്തോടെ കര്ത്താവിനെ വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാവരോടും സമാധാനവും ആചരിക്ക.

22. Lustes of youth auoyde, but folowe ryghteousnesse, fayth, loue, peace, with them that call on the Lorde out of a pure heart.

23. ബുദ്ധിയില്ലാത്ത മൌഢ്യതര്ക്കം ശണ്ഠ ജനിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നറിഞ്ഞു അതു ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്ക.

23. But foolishe & vnlearned questions put from thee, knowyng that they do but gender strife.

24. കര്ത്താവിന്റെ ദാസന് ശണ്ഠ ഇടാതെ എല്ലാവരോടും ശാന്തനും ഉപദേശിപ്പാന് സമര്ത്ഥനും ദോഷം സഹിക്കുന്നവനുമായി അത്രേ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതു.

24. And the seruaunt of the Lorde must not striue: but be gentle vnto all men, apt to teache, sufferyng euyll in mekenesse,

25. വിരോധികള്ക്കു ദൈവം സത്യത്തിന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിന്നായി മാനസാന്തരം നലകുമോ എന്നും

25. Instructing the which are contrarie mynded, yf God at any tyme wyll geue them repentaunce, to the knowledge of the trueth:

26. പിശാചിനാല് പിടിപെട്ടു കുടുങ്ങിയവരാകയാല് അവര് സുബോധം പ്രാപിച്ചു അവന്റെ കണിയില് നിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞു ദൈവേഷ്ടം ചെയ്യുമോ എന്നും വെച്ചു അവരെ സൌമ്യതയോടെ പഠിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതും ആകുന്നു.

26. And that they may come to the selues agayne, out of the snare of the deuyll, which are holden captyue of hym at his wyll.
