1. ക്രിസ്തു ജഡത്തില് കഷ്ടമനുഭവിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളും ആ ഭാവം തന്നേ ആയുധമായി ധരിപ്പിന് .

1. Since the Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, be ye also armed with the same thought; for he that has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

2. ജഡത്തില് കഷ്ടമനുഭവിച്ചവന് ജഡത്തില് ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുംകാലം ഇനി മനുഷ്യരുടെ മോഹങ്ങള്ക്കല്ല, ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടത്തിന്നത്രേ ജീവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു പാപം വിട്ടൊഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. so that now the time that remains in the flesh, he might live, not unto the lusts of men, but unto the will of God.

3. കാമാര്ത്തികളിലും മോഹങ്ങളിലും വീഞ്ഞുകുടിയിലും വെറിക്കൂത്തുകളിലും മദ്യപാനത്തിലും ധര്മ്മവിരുദ്ധമായ വിഗ്രഹാരാധനയിലും നടന്നു ജാതികളുടെ ഇഷ്ടം പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു കാലം പോക്കിയതു മതി.

3. For it should suffice us that during the time past of [our] life we had done the will of the Gentiles, when we conversed in lasciviousness, lusts, drunkenness, gluttony, orgies, and abominable idolatries.

4. ദുര്ന്നടപ്പിന്റെ അതേ കവിച്ചലില് നിങ്ങള് അവരോടു ചേര്ന്നു നടക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നതു അപൂര്വ്വം എന്നുവെച്ചു അവര് ദുഷിക്കുന്നു.

4. And it seems strange to those that speak evil of you, that ye do not run with [them] to the same unchecked dissolution;

5. ജീവികളെയും മരിച്ചവരെയും ന്യായം വിധിപ്പാന് ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നവന്നു അവര് കണകൂ ബോധിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടിവരും.

5. the same shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead.

6. ഇതിന്നായിട്ടല്ലോ മരിച്ചവരോടും സുവിശേഷം അറിയിച്ചതു. അവര് ജഡസംബന്ധമായി മനുഷ്യരെപ്പോലെ വിധിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ആത്മാവുസംബന്ധമായി ദൈവത്തിന്നൊത്തവണ്ണം ജീവിക്കയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

6. Because for this cause was the gospel preached also to those that are dead, that they might be judged in flesh according to men, but live in spirit according to God.

7. എന്നാല് എല്ലാറ്റിന്റെയും അവസാനം സമീപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ആകയാല് പ്രാര്ത്ഥനെക്കു സുബോധമുള്ളവരും നിര്മ്മദരുമായിരിപ്പിന് .

7. But the end of all things is at hand; be ye, therefore, temperate and watch unto prayer.

8. സകലത്തിന്നും മുമ്പെ തമ്മില് ഉറ്റ സ്നേഹം ഉള്ളവരായിരിപ്പിന് . സ്നേഹം പാപങ്ങളുടെ ബഹുത്വത്തെ മറെക്കുന്നു.

8. And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves; for charity shall cover [a] multitude of sins.

9. പിറുപിറുപ്പു കൂടാതെ തമ്മില് അതിഥിസല്ക്കാരം ആചരിപ്പിന് .

9. Lovingly be hospitable one to another without murmuring.

10. ഔരോരുത്തന്നു വരം ലഭിച്ചതുപോലെ വിവിധമായുള്ള ദൈവകൃപയുടെ നല്ല ഗൃഹവിചാരകന്മാരായി അതിനെക്കൊണ്ടു അന്യോന്യം ശുശ്രൂഷിപ്പിന് .

10. Let each one according to the gift that he has received, administer it unto the others, as a good steward of the diverse graces of God.

11. ഒരുത്തന് പ്രസംഗിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നു എന്നപോലെയും ഒരുത്തന് ശുശ്രൂഷിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് ദൈവം നലകുന്ന പ്രാപ്തിക്കു ഒത്തവണ്ണവും ആകട്ടെ. എല്ലാറ്റിലും ദൈവം യേശുക്രിസ്തുമൂലം മഹത്വപ്പെടുവാന് ഇടവരട്ടെ. മഹത്വവും ബലവും എന്നെന്നേക്കും അവന്നുള്ളതു. ആമേന് .

11. If anyone speaks, [let him speak] as the oracles of God; if anyone ministers, [let them do it] according to the virtue which God gives, that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus, the Christ, unto whom is glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

12. പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, നിങ്ങള്ക്കു പരീക്ഷക്കായി സംഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന അഗ്നിശോധനയിങ്കല് ഒരു അപൂര്വ്വകാര്യ്യം നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വന്നുകൂടി എന്നു വച്ചു അതിശയിച്ചുപോകരുതു.

12. Beloved, think it not strange when you are tried by fire (which is done to prove you) as though some strange thing happened unto you,

13. ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ കഷ്ടങ്ങള്ക്കു പങ്കുള്ളവരാകുന്തോറും സന്തോഷിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് . അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങള് അവന്റെ തേജസ്സിന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതയില് ഉല്ലസിച്ചാനന്ദിപ്പാന് ഇടവരും.

13. but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of the afflictions of the Christ, so that also in the revelation of his glory, ye may rejoice in triumph.

14. ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ നാമം ഹേതുവായി നിന്ദ സഹിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാര്; മഹത്വത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവായ ദൈവാത്മാവു നിങ്ങളുടെമേല് ആവസിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

14. If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed [are ye]; for the glory and the Spirit of God rests upon you; certainly on their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.

15. നിങ്ങളില് ആരും കുലപാതകനോ കള്ളനോ ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരനോ ആയിട്ടല്ല കഷ്ടം സഹിക്കേണ്ടതു; പരകാര്യത്തില് ഇടപെടുന്നവനായിട്ടുമല്ല;

15. So let none of you suffer as a murderer, or [as] a thief, or [as] an evildoer, or as desirous of the things of others.

16. ക്രിസ്ത്യാനിയായിട്ടു കഷ്ടം സഹക്കേണ്ടിവന്നാലോ ലജ്ജിക്കരുതു; ഈ നാമം ധരിച്ചിട്ടു ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തുകയത്രേ വേണ്ടതു.

16. But if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God on this behalf.

17. ന്യായവിധി ദൈവഗൃഹത്തില് ആരംഭിപ്പാന് സമയമായല്ലോ. അതു നമ്മില് തുടങ്ങിയാല് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സുവിശേഷം അനുസരിക്കാത്തവരുടെ അവസാനം എന്താകും?
യിരേമ്യാവു 25:29, യേഹേസ്കേൽ 9:6

17. For it is time that the judgment begins from the house of God; and if [it] first [begins] with us, what shall the end [be] of those that do not obey the gospel of God?

18. നീതിമാന് പ്രയാസേന രക്ഷപ്രാപിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് അഭക്തന്റെയും പാപിയുടെയും ഗതി എന്താകും?

18. And if the righteous are saved with difficulty, where shall the unfaithful and the sinner appear?

19. അതുകൊണ്ടു ദൈവേഷ്ടപ്രകാരം കഷ്ടം സഹിക്കുന്നവര് നന്മ ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടു തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാണനെ വിശ്വസ്തനായ സ്രഷ്ടാവിങ്കല് ഭരമേല്പിക്കട്ടെ.

19. Therefore, let those that are afflicted according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls [unto him] as unto a faithful Creator, doing good.:
