1. എന്നാല് ബോവസ് പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കല് ചെന്നു അവിടെ ഇരുന്നു; ബോവസ് പറഞ്ഞിരുന്ന വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരന് കടന്നുപോകുന്നതു കണ്ടുഎടോ, ഇങ്ങോട്ടു വന്നു ഇവിടെ ഇരിക്ക എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് ചെന്നു അവിടെ ഇരുന്നു.

1. Now, Boaz, went up to the gate, and sat him down there, and lo! the kinsman, passing by, of whom Boaz had spoken, so he said Turn aside! and sit down here, such a one! And he turned aside, and sat down.

2. പിന്നെ അവന് പട്ടണത്തിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാരില് പത്തുപേരെ വരുത്തി; ഇവിടെ ഇരിപ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവരും ഇരുന്നു.

2. Then fetched he ten men of the elders of the city, and said Sit ye down here. And they sat down.

3. അപ്പോള് അവന് ആ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരനോടു പറഞ്ഞതുമോവാബ് ദേശത്തുനിന്നു മടങ്ങിവന്നിരിക്കുന്ന നൊവൊമി നമ്മുടെ സഹോദരനായ എലീമേലെക്കിന്റെ വയല് വിലക്കുന്നു. ആകയാല് നിന്നോടു അതു അറിയിപ്പാന് ഞാന് വിചാരിച്ചു; ഇവിടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നവരുടെയും ജനത്തിന്റെ മൂപ്പന്മാരുടെയും മുമ്പാകെ നീ അതു വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങുക;

3. Then said he to the kinsman, The parcel of land that was our brother Elimelech's, is to be disposed of by Naomi, who hath returned out of the country of Moab;

4. നിനക്കു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന് മനസ്സുണ്ടെങ്കില് വീണ്ടെടുക്ക; വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന് നിനക്കു മനസ്സില്ലെങ്കില് ഞാന് അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നോടു പറക; നീയും നീ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഞാനും അല്ലാതെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന് ആരും ഇല്ല.

4. and, I, thought, I would unveil thine ear, saying Take it over in presence of such as are here seated, and in presence of the elders of my people. If thou wilt act as kinsman, act as kinsman, but, if thou wilt not so act, only tell me that I may know, for there is none who can set thee aside as kinsman, but, I, am after thee. And he said, I, will act as kinsman.

5. അതിന്നു അവന് ഞാന് വീണ്ടെടുക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള് ബോവസ്നീ നൊവൊമിയോടു വയല് വാങ്ങുന്ന നാളില് മരിച്ചവന്റെ അവകാശത്തിന്മേല് അവന്റെ പേര് നിലനിര്ത്തുവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം മരിച്ചവന്റെ ഭാര്യ മോവാബ്യ സ്ത്രീയായ രൂത്തിനെയും വാങ്ങേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. Then said Boaz, What day thou takest over the land from the hand of Naomi, also, of Ruth the Moabitess, wife of the dead, dost thou take it , to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.

6. അതിന്നു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരന് എനിക്കു അതു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല; എന്റെ സ്വന്ത അവകാശം നഷ്ടമാക്കേണ്ടിവരും; ആകയാല് ഞാന് വീണ്ടെടുക്കേണ്ടതു നീ വീണ്ടെടുത്തുകൊള്ക; എനിക്കു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. Then said the kinsman I cannot act as kinsman for myself, lest I mar my own inheritance, do, thou, for thyself act as kinsman in my right, for I cannot so redeem.

7. എന്നാല് വീണ്ടെടുപ്പും കൈമാറ്റവും സംബന്ധിച്ചുള്ള കാര്യം ഉറപ്പാക്കുവാന് ഒരുത്തന് തന്റെ ചെരിപ്പൂരി മറ്റേവന്നു കൊടുക്കുന്നതു യിസ്രായേലില് പണ്ടു നടപ്പായിരുന്നു; ഇതായിരുന്നു യിസ്രായേലില് ഉറപ്പാക്കുന്ന വിധം.

7. Now, this aforetime, was the way in Israel, at a redeeming, and at an exchanging, to confirm every word: A man drew off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour, yea, this, was the way of taking to witness, in Israel.

8. അങ്ങനെ ആ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരന് ബോവസിനോടുനീ അതു വാങ്ങിക്കൊള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തന്റെ ചെരിപ്പൂരിക്കൊടുത്തു.

8. So the kinsman said unto Boaz, Take it over for thyself, and he drew off his shoe.

9. അപ്പോള് ബോവസ് മൂപ്പന്മാരോടും സകല ജനത്തോടും പറഞ്ഞതുഎലീമേലെക്കിന്നുള്ളതൊക്കെയും കില്യോന്നും മഹ്ളോന്നും ഉള്ളതൊക്കെയും ഞാന് നൊവൊമിയോടു വാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് ഇന്നു സാക്ഷികള് ആകുന്നു.

9. Then said Boaz to the elders, and all the people Witnesses, are ye to-day, that I have taken over all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's, and Mahlon's, from the hand of Naomi:

10. അത്രയുമല്ല മരിച്ചവന്റെ പേര് അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നും അവന്റെ പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കല്നിന്നും മാഞ്ഞുപോകാതവണ്ണം മരിച്ചവന്റെ പേര് അവന്റെ അവകാശത്തിന്മേല് നിലനിര്ത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു മഹ്ളോന്റെ ഭാര്യ മോവാബ്യസ്ത്രീയായ രൂത്തിനെയും എനിക്കു ഭാര്യയായി വാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നതിന്നും നിങ്ങള് ഇന്നു സാക്ഷികള് ആകുന്നു.

10. Moreover, Ruth the Moabitess, wife of Mahlon, have I taken over, to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his dwelling- place, Witnesses, are ye to-day!

11. അതിന്നു പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കല് ഇരുന്ന സകലജനവും മൂപ്പന്മാരും പറഞ്ഞതുഞങ്ങള് സാക്ഷികള് തന്നേ; നിന്റെ വീട്ടില് വന്നിരിക്കുന്ന സ്ത്രീയെ യഹോവ റാഹേലിനെപ്പോലെയും ലേയയെപ്പോലെയും ആക്കട്ടെ; അവര് ഇരുവരുമല്ലോ യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹം പണിതതു; എഫ്രാത്തയില് നീ പ്രബലനും ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമില് വിശ്രുതനുമായിരിക്ക.

11. Then said all the people who were in the gate, and the elders Witnesses!, Yahweh grant the woman who is coming into thy house, to be as Rachel, and as Leah, which two of them did build the house of Israel. Do thou bravely, then, in Ephrathah, and proclaim thou a name in Bethlehem,

12. ഈ യുവതിയില്നിന്നു യഹോവ നിനക്കു നലകുന്ന സന്തതിയാല് നിന്റെ ഗൃഹം താമാര് യെഹൂദെക്കു പ്രസവിച്ച ഫേരെസിന്റെ ഗൃഹം പോലെ ആയ്തീരട്ടെ.

12. And let thy house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bare to Judah, of the seed which may Yahweh give thee, of this young woman.

13. ഇങ്ങനെ ബോവസ് രൂത്തിനെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചു; അവള് അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായി; അവന് അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നപ്പോള് യഹോവ അവള്ക്കു ഗര്ഭംനല്കി; അവള് ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

13. So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife, and he went in unto her, and Yahweh granted her conception, and she bare a son.

14. എന്നാറെ സ്ത്രീകള് നൊവൊമിയോടുഇന്നു നിനക്കു ഒരു വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരനെ നല്കിയിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടവന് ; അവന്റെ പേര് യിസ്രായേലില് വിശ്രുതമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

14. Then said the women unto Naomi, Blessed, be Yahweh! who hath not let thee fail of a kinsman to-day, and may his name, be proclaimed, in Israel;

15. അവന് നിനക്കു ആശ്വാസപ്രദനും നിന്റെ വാര്ദ്ധക്യത്തിങ്കല് പോഷകനും ആയിരിക്കും. നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവളും ഏഴു പുത്രന്മാരെക്കാള് നിനക്കു ഉത്തമയുമായിരിക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ മരുമകളല്ലോ അവനെ പ്രസവിച്ചതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. So shall he become a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age, for, thy daughter-in-law who loveth thee, hath borne him, even, she, who is better to thee than seven sons.

16. നൊവൊമി കുഞ്ഞിനെ എടുത്തു മടിയില് കിടത്തി അവന്നു ധാത്രിയായ്തീര്ന്നു.

16. So Naomi took the boy, and laid him in her bosom, and she became his nurse.

17. അവളുടെ അയല്ക്കാരത്തികള്നൊവൊമിക്കു ഒരു മകന് ജനിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു ഔബേദ് എന്നു പേര് വിളിച്ചു; ദാവീദിന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിശ്ശായിയുടെ അപ്പന് ഇവന് തന്നേ.

17. And the women, her neighbours, gave him a name, saying, There is born a son to Naomi, So they called his name Obed, he, was, the father of Jesse, the father of David.

18. ഫേരെസിന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യമാവിതുഫേരെസ് ഹെസ്രോനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു. ഹെസ്രോന് രാമിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

18. These, then, are the generations of Perez: Perez, begat, Hezron;

19. രാം അമ്മീനാദാബിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

19. And, Hezron, begat, Ram, and, Ram, begat, Amminadab;

20. അമ്മീനാദാബ് നഹശോനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; നഹശോന് സല്മോനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

20. And, Amminadab, begat Nahshon, and, Nahshon, begat, Salmon,

21. സല്മോന് ബോവസിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ബോവസ് ഔബേദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

21. And, Salmon, begat, Boaz, and, Boaz, begat, Obed;

22. ഔബേദ് യിശ്ശായിയെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; യിശ്ശായി ദാവീദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
