1. അപ്പോള് ശമൂവേല് തൈലപാത്രം എടുത്തു അവന്റെ തലയില് ഒഴിച്ചു അവനെ ചുംബിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതുയഹോവ തന്റെ അവകാശത്തിന്നു പ്രഭുവായി നിന്നെ അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

1. Then Samuel took a bottle of oil and poured it on Saul's head. He kissed him and said, 'Has not the Lord chosen you to be a ruler over His land?

2. When you leave me today, you will meet two men by Rachel's grave in the land of Benjamin at Zelzah. They will say to you, 'The donkeys you went to look for have been found. 3. Then you will go farther and come to the oak tree of Tabor. There three men going up to God at Bethel will meet you. One will be carrying three young goats. Another will be carrying three loaves of bread. And another will be carrying a bottle of wine.

4. അവര് നിന്നോടു കുശലം ചോദിക്കും; നിനക്കു രണ്ടു അപ്പവും തരും; നീ അതു അവരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വാങ്ങിക്കൊള്ളേണം.

4. They will say hello to you and give you two loaves of bread, which you will take from their hand.

5. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം നീ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ പട്ടാളം ഉള്ള ദൈവഗിരിക്കു എത്തും; അവിടെ പട്ടണത്തില് കടക്കുമ്പോള് മുമ്പില് വീണ, തപ്പു, കുഴല്, കിന്നരം എന്നിവയോടുകൂടെ പൂജാഗിരിയില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവരുന്ന ഒരു പ്രവാചകഗണത്തെ കാണും; അവര് പ്രവചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും.

5. Then you will come to the hill of God where there are Philistine soldiers. When you come there to the city, you will meet a group of men who speak for God coming down from the high place. They will have music boxes of strings, an object to beat sounds of joy, and a horn. And they will be speaking God's Word.

6. യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു ശക്തിയോടെ നിന്റെമേല് വന്നിട്ടു നീയും അവരോടുകൂടെ പ്രവചിക്കയും ആള് മാറിയതുപോലെ ആയ്തീരുകയും ചെയ്യും.

6. Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you with power. You will speak God's Word with them and be changed into another man.

7. ഈ അടയാളങ്ങള് നിനക്കു സംഭവിക്കുമ്പോള് യുക്തമെന്നു തോന്നുന്നതു ചെയ്ക; ദൈവം നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു.

7. When you see these special things, do whatever you find that should be done. For God is with you.

8. എന്നാല് നീ എനിക്കു മുമ്പെ ഗില്ഗാലിലേക്കു പോകേണം; ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങളും കഴിപ്പാന് ഞാന് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരും; ഞാന് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു നീ ചെയ്യേണ്ടതെന്തെന്നു പറഞ്ഞുതരുവോളം ഏഴു ദിവസം അവിടെ കാത്തിരിക്കേണം.

8. You will go down before me to Gilgal. Then see, I will come down to you to give burnt gifts and peace gifts. Wait seven days until I come to you and show you what you should do.'

9. ഇങ്ങനെ അവന് ശമൂവേലിനെ വിട്ടുപിരിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് ദൈവം അവന്നു വേറൊരു ഹൃദയംകൊടുത്തു; ആ അടയാളങ്ങളെല്ലാം അന്നു തന്നേ സംഭവിച്ചു.

9. When Saul turned his back to leave Samuel, God changed his heart. And all these special things happened on that day.

10. അവര് അവിടെ ഗിരിയിങ്കല് എത്തിയപ്പോള് ഒരു പ്രവാചകഗണം ഇതാ, അവന്നെതിരെ വരുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവു ശക്തിയോടെ അവന്റെമേല് വന്നു; അവന് അവരുടെ ഇടയില് പ്രവചിച്ചു.

10. When they came to the hill, a group of men who speak for God met him. The Spirit of God came upon him with power, so that he spoke God's Word with them.

11. അവനെ മുമ്പെ അറിഞ്ഞവര് ഒക്കെയും അവന് പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് പ്രവചിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടപ്പോള്കീശിന്റെ മകന്നു എന്തു സംഭവിച്ചു? ശൌലും പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില് ആയോ എന്നു ജനം തമ്മില് തമ്മില് പറഞ്ഞു.

11. People who had known him before saw him doing this and asked one another, 'What has happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul one of the men who speak God's Word?'

12. അതിന്നു അവിടത്തുകാരില് ഒരുത്തന് ആരാകുന്നു അവരുടെ ഗുരുനാഥന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ആകയാല് ശൌലും ഉണ്ടോ പ്രവാചകഗണത്തില് എന്നുള്ളതു പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലായി തീര്ന്നു.

12. One of the men there answered, 'Now, who is their father?' So it became a saying: 'Is Saul one of the men who speak God's Word?'

13. അവന് പ്രവചിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം ഗിബെയയില് എത്തി.

13. When Saul had finished speaking the Word of God, he went to the altar at the high place.

14. ശൌലിന്റെ ഇളയപ്പന് അവനോടും അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യനോടുംനിങ്ങള് എവിടെ പോയിരുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. കഴുതകളെ തിരയുവാന് പോയിരുന്നു; അവയെ കാണായ്കയാല് ഞങ്ങള് ശമൂവേലിന്റെ അടുക്കല് പോയി എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

14. The brother of Saul's father said to him and his servant, 'Where have you been?' And Saul said, 'To look for the donkeys. When we saw that they could not be found, we went to Samuel.'

15. ശമൂവേല് നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞതു എന്നെ അറിയിക്കേണം എന്നു ശൌലിന്റെ ഇളയപ്പന് പറഞ്ഞു.

15. The brother of Saul's father said, 'Tell me, what did Samuel say to you?'

16. ശൌല് തന്റെ ഇളയപ്പനോടുകഴുതകളെ കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവന് ഞങ്ങളോടു തിട്ടമായി അറിയിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; എങ്കിലും ശമൂവേല് രാജത്വം സംബന്ധിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതു അവന് അവനോടു അറിയിച്ചില്ല.

16. Saul said to his father's brother, 'He told us that the donkeys had been found.' But he did not tell him what Samuel had told him about being king.

17. അനന്തരം ശമൂവേല് ജനത്തെ മിസ്പയില് യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി,

17. Then Samuel called the people together to the Lord at Mizpah.

18. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് യിസ്രായേലിനെ മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു മിസ്രയീമ്യരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നും നിങ്ങളെ ഉപദ്രവിച്ച സകലരാജ്യക്കാരുടെയും കയ്യില്നിന്നും നിങ്ങളെ വിടുവിച്ചു.

18. He said to the people of Israel, 'This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'I brought Israel out of Egypt. I saved you from the power of the Egyptians, and from the power of all the nations that made it hard for you.'

19. നിങ്ങളോ സകല അനര്ത്ഥങ്ങളില്നിന്നും കഷ്ടങ്ങളില്നിന്നും നിങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിച്ച നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തെ ഇന്നു ത്യജിച്ചുഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ഒരു രാജാവിനെ നിയമിച്ചുതരേണമെന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. ആകയാല് നിങ്ങള് ഇപ്പോള് ഗോത്രംഗോത്രമായും സഹസ്രംസഹസ്രമായും യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് നില്പിന് .

19. But today you have turned away from your God, Who saves you from all your troubles. You have said, 'No! Have a king rule over us!' So now come before the Lord, by your family groups and by your thousands.'

20. അങ്ങനെ ശമൂവേല് യിസ്രായേല്ഗോത്രങ്ങളെയെല്ലാം അടുത്തു വരുമാറാക്കി; ബെന്യാമീന് ഗോത്രത്തിന്നു ചീട്ടു വീണു.

20. When Samuel brought all the families of Israel near, the name of the family group of Benjamin was drawn.

21. അവന് ബെന്യാമീന് ഗോത്രത്തെ കുടുംബംകുടുംബമായി അടുത്തുവരുമാറാക്കി; മത്രികുടുംബത്തിന്നു ചീട്ടു വീണു; പിന്നെ കീശിന്റെ മകനായ ശൌലിന്നു ചീട്ടുവീണു; അവര് അവനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചപ്പോള് കണ്ടില്ല.

21. Then he brought the family group of Benjamin near by its families, and the name of the Matrite family was drawn. Then the name of Saul the son of Kish was drawn. But when they looked for him, he could not be found.

22. അവര് പിന്നെയും യഹോവയോടുആയാള് ഇവിടെ വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു യഹോവഅവന് സാമാനങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

22. So they asked the Lord, 'Has the man come here yet?' The Lord said, 'See, he is hiding among the bags.'

23. അവര് ഔടിച്ചെന്നു അവിടെനിന്നു അവനെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. ജനമദ്ധ്യേ നിന്നപ്പോള് അവന് ജനത്തില് എല്ലാവരെക്കാളും തോള്മുതല് പൊക്കമേറിയവനായിരുന്നു.

23. They ran and brought him from there. And when he stood among the people, he was a head taller than any of them.

24. അപ്പോള് ശമൂവേല് സര്വ്വജനത്തോടുംയഹോവ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തവനെ നിങ്ങള് കാണുന്നുവോ? സര്വ്വജനത്തിലും അവനെപ്പോലെ ഒരുത്തനും ഇല്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ജനമെല്ലാംരാജാവേ, ജയ ജയ എന്നു ആര്ത്തു.

24. Samuel said to all the people, 'Do you see him whom the Lord has chosen? For sure there is no one like him among all the people.' So all the people called out and said, 'Long live the king!'

25. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം ശമൂവേല് രാജധര്മ്മം ജനത്തെ പറഞ്ഞുകേള്പ്പിച്ചു; അതു ഒരു പുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതി യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് വെച്ചു. പിന്നെ ശമൂവേല് ജനത്തെയെല്ലാം വീട്ടിലേക്കു പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.

25. Then Samuel told the people the rights and duties of the king and his nation. He wrote them in a book and laid it before the Lord. Then Samuel sent all the people away, each one to his home.

26. ശൌലും ഗിബെയയില് തന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോയി; ദൈവം മനസ്സില് തോന്നിച്ച ഒരു ആള്ക്കൂട്ടവും അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയി.

26. Saul went home to Gibeah. And the strong men whose hearts God had touched went with him.

27. എന്നാല് ചില നീചന്മാര്ഇവന് നമ്മെ എങ്ങനെ രക്ഷിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ ധിക്കരിച്ചു, അവന്നു കാഴ്ച കൊണ്ടുവരാതിരുന്നു. അവനോ അതു ഗണ്യമാക്കിയില്ല .

27. But some men of no worth said, 'How can this man save us?' They hated him and did not bring him any gift. But he kept quiet.
