1. എന്നാല് യോസേഫിനെ മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി; അവനെ അവിടെ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന യിശ്മായേല്യരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു ഫറവോന്റെ ഒരു ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനായി അകമ്പടിനായകനായ പോത്തീഫര് എന്ന ഒരു മിസ്രയീമ്യന് അവനെ വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി.

1. Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. An Egyptian named Potiphar had bought him from the Ishmaelite traders who had taken him there. Potiphar was one of Pharaoh's officials. He was the captain of the palace guard.

2. യഹോവ യോസേഫിനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് കൃതാര്ത്ഥനായി, മിസ്രയീമ്യനായ യജമാനന്റെ വീട്ടില് പാര്ത്തു.

2. The Lord was with Joseph. He gave him great success. Joseph lived in Potiphar's house.

3. യഹോവ അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടെന്നും അവന് ചെയ്യുന്നതൊക്കെയും യഹോവ സാധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നും അവന്റെ യജമാനന് കണ്ടു.

3. Joseph's master saw that the Lord was with him. He saw that the Lord gave Joseph success in everything he did.

4. അതുകൊണ്ടു യേസേഫ് അവന്നു ഇഷ്ടനായി ശുശ്രൂഷചെയ്തു; അവന് അവനെ ഗൃഹവിചാരകനാക്കി, തനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും അവന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു.

4. So Potiphar was pleased with Joseph. He made him his attendant. He put Joseph in charge of his house. He told Joseph to take good care of everything he owned.

5. അവന് തന്റെ വീട്ടിന്നും തനിക്കുള്ള സകലത്തിന്നും അവനെ വിചാരകനാക്കിയതുമുതല് യഹോവ യോസേഫിന്റെ നിമിത്തം മിസ്രയീമ്യന്റെ വീട്ടിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു; വീട്ടിലും വയലിലും അവന്നുള്ള സകലത്തിന്മേലും യഹോവയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹം ഉണ്ടായി.

5. From that time on, the Lord blessed Potiphar's family and servants because of Joseph. He blessed everything Potiphar had in his house and field.

6. അവന് തനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും യോസേഫിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു; താന് ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്ന ഭക്ഷണം ഒഴികെ അവന്റെ വൈശം ഉള്ള മറ്റു യാതൊന്നും അവന് അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.

6. So Potiphar told Joseph to take good care of everything he owned. With Joseph in charge, he didn't have to worry about anything except the food he ate. Joseph was strong and handsome.

7. യോസേഫ് കോമളനും മനോഹരരൂപിയും ആയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു യജമാനന്റെ ഭാര്യ യോസേഫിന്മേല് കണ്ണു പതിച്ചുഎന്നോടുകൂടെ ശയിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. After a while, his master's wife noticed Joseph. She said to him, 'Make love to me!'

8. അവന് അതിന്നു സമ്മതിക്കാതെ യജമാനന്റെ ഭാര്യയോടുഇതാ, വീട്ടില് എന്റെ കൈവശമുള്ള യാതൊന്നും എന്റെ യജമാനന് അറിയുന്നില്ല; തനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും എന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

8. But he said no. 'My master has put me in charge,' he told her. 'Now he doesn't have to worry about anything in the house. He trusts me to take care of everything he owns.

9. ഈ വീട്ടില് എന്നെക്കാള് വലിയവനില്ല; നീ അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയാകയാല് നിന്നെയല്ലാതെ മറ്റു യാതൊന്നും അവന് എനിക്കു വിരോധിച്ചിട്ടുമില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് ഈ മഹാദോഷം പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു ദൈവത്തോടു പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. 'No one in this house is in a higher position than I am. My master hasn't held anything back from me, except you. You are his wife. So how could I do an evil thing like that? How could I sin against God?'

10. അവള് ദിനം പ്രതിയും യോസേഫിനോടു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടും അവളോടുകൂടെ ശയിപ്പാനോ അവളുടെ അരികെ ഇരിപ്പാനോ അവന് അവളെ അനുസരിച്ചില്ല.

10. She spoke to Joseph day after day. But he told her he wouldn't make love to her. He didn't even want to be with her.

11. ഒരു ദിവസം അവന് തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി ചെയ്വാന് വീട്ടിന്നകത്തു ചെന്നു; വീട്ടിലുള്ളവര് ആരും അവിടെ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.

11. One day Joseph went into the house to take care of his duties. None of the family servants was inside.

12. അവള് അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം പിടിച്ചുഎന്നോടു കൂടെ ശയിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുഎന്നാല് അവന് തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം അവളുടെ കയ്യില് വിട്ടേച്ചു പുറത്തേക്കു ഔടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

12. Potiphar's wife grabbed hold of him by his coat. 'Make love to me!' she said. But he left his coat in her hand. And he ran out of the house.

13. അവന് വസ്ത്രം തന്റെ കയ്യില് വിട്ടേച്ചു പുറത്തേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി എന്നു കണ്ടപ്പോള്,

13. She saw that he had left his coat in her hand and had run out of the house.

14. അവള് വീട്ടിലുള്ളവരെ വിളിച്ചു അവരോടുകണ്ടോ, നമ്മെ ഹാസ്യമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന് ഒരു എബ്രായനെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് എന്നോടുകൂടെ ശയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു; എന്നാല് ഞാന് ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചു.

14. So she called her servants. 'Look,' she said to them, 'this Hebrew slave has been brought here to make fun of us! He came in here to force me to have sex with him. But I screamed for help.

15. ഞാന് ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചതു കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവന് തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വിട്ടേച്ചു ഔടി പൊയ്ക്കളഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. He heard my scream. So he left his coat beside me and ran out of the house.'

16. യജമാനന് വീട്ടില് വരുവോളം അവള് ആ വസ്ത്രം തന്റെ പക്കല് വെച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

16. She kept Joseph's coat with her until Potiphar came home.

17. അവനോടു അവള് അവ്വണം തന്നേ സംസാരിച്ചുനീ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്ന എബ്രായദാസന് എന്നെ ഹാസ്യമാക്കുവാന് എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു.

17. Then she told him her story. She said, 'That Hebrew slave you brought us came to me to rape me.

18. ഞാന് ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചപ്പോള് അവന് തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വിട്ടേച്ചു പുറത്തേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. But I screamed for help. So he left his coat beside me and ran out of the house.'

19. നിന്റെ ദാസന് ഇങ്ങനെ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തു എന്നു തന്റെ ഭാര്യ പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു യജമാനന് കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവന്നു കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു.

19. Potiphar's wife told him, 'That's how your slave treated me.' When Joseph's master heard her story, he became very angry.

20. യോസേഫിന്റെ യജമാനന് അവനെ പിടിച്ചു രാജാവിന്റെ ബദ്ധന്മാര് കിടക്കുന്ന കാരാഗൃഹത്തില് ആക്കി; അങ്ങനെ അവന് കാരാഗൃഹത്തില് കിടന്നു.

20. So he put Joseph in prison. It was the place where the king's prisoners were kept. While Joseph was there in the prison,

21. എന്നാല് യഹോവ യോസേഫിനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു, കാരാഗൃഹപ്രമാണിക്കു അവനോടു ദയ തോന്നത്തക്കവണ്ണം അവന്നു കൃപ നല്കി.

21. the Lord was with him. He was kind to him. So the man who was running the prison was pleased with Joseph.

22. കാരാഗൃഹത്തിലെ സകലബദ്ധന്മാരെയും കാരാഗൃഹപ്രമാണി യോസേഫിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു; അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തിക്കൊക്കെയും അവന് വിചാരകനായിരുന്നു.

22. He put Joseph in charge of all of the prisoners. He made him accountable for everything that was done there.

23. യഹോവ അവനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു അവന് ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും സഫലമാക്കുകകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ കൈക്കീഴുള്ള യാതൊന്നും കാരാഗൃഹ പ്രമാണി നോക്കിയില്ല.

23. The man who ran the prison didn't pay attention to anything that was in Joseph's care. The Lord was with Joseph. He gave Joseph success in everything he did.
