1. എന്നാല് യോസേഫിനെ മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി; അവനെ അവിടെ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന യിശ്മായേല്യരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു ഫറവോന്റെ ഒരു ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനായി അകമ്പടിനായകനായ പോത്തീഫര് എന്ന ഒരു മിസ്രയീമ്യന് അവനെ വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി.

1. And Joseph was brought down to Egypt. And Potiphar, Pharaoh's eunuch, the captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the hands of the Ishmaelites, who brought him down there.

2. യഹോവ യോസേഫിനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് കൃതാര്ത്ഥനായി, മിസ്രയീമ്യനായ യജമാനന്റെ വീട്ടില് പാര്ത്തു.

2. And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house with his master the Egyptian.

3. യഹോവ അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടെന്നും അവന് ചെയ്യുന്നതൊക്കെയും യഹോവ സാധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നും അവന്റെ യജമാനന് കണ്ടു.

3. And his master knew that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord prospered in his hands all that he did.

4. അതുകൊണ്ടു യേസേഫ് അവന്നു ഇഷ്ടനായി ശുശ്രൂഷചെയ്തു; അവന് അവനെ ഗൃഹവിചാരകനാക്കി, തനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും അവന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു.

4. And Joseph found grace in the presence of his master, and was well-pleasing to him; and he set him over his house; and all that he had, he gave into the hand of Joseph.

5. അവന് തന്റെ വീട്ടിന്നും തനിക്കുള്ള സകലത്തിന്നും അവനെ വിചാരകനാക്കിയതുമുതല് യഹോവ യോസേഫിന്റെ നിമിത്തം മിസ്രയീമ്യന്റെ വീട്ടിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു; വീട്ടിലും വയലിലും അവന്നുള്ള സകലത്തിന്മേലും യഹോവയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹം ഉണ്ടായി.

5. And it came to pass after that he was set over his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the house of the Egyptian for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the Lord was on all his possessions in the house, and in his field.

6. അവന് തനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും യോസേഫിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു; താന് ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്ന ഭക്ഷണം ഒഴികെ അവന്റെ വൈശം ഉള്ള മറ്റു യാതൊന്നും അവന് അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.

6. And he committed all that he had into the hands of Joseph; and he knew not of anything that belonged to him, except the bread which he himself ate. And Joseph was handsome in form, and exceedingly beautiful in countenance.

7. യോസേഫ് കോമളനും മനോഹരരൂപിയും ആയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു യജമാനന്റെ ഭാര്യ യോസേഫിന്മേല് കണ്ണു പതിച്ചുഎന്നോടുകൂടെ ശയിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph, and said, Lie with me.

8. അവന് അതിന്നു സമ്മതിക്കാതെ യജമാനന്റെ ഭാര്യയോടുഇതാ, വീട്ടില് എന്റെ കൈവശമുള്ള യാതൊന്നും എന്റെ യജമാനന് അറിയുന്നില്ല; തനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും എന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

8. But he would not; but said to his master's wife, If because of me my master knows nothing in his house, and has given into my hands all things that belong to him;

9. ഈ വീട്ടില് എന്നെക്കാള് വലിയവനില്ല; നീ അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയാകയാല് നിന്നെയല്ലാതെ മറ്റു യാതൊന്നും അവന് എനിക്കു വിരോധിച്ചിട്ടുമില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് ഈ മഹാദോഷം പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു ദൈവത്തോടു പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. and in this house there is nothing above me, nor has anything been kept back from me, but you, because you are his wife- how then shall I do this wicked thing, and sin against God?

10. അവള് ദിനം പ്രതിയും യോസേഫിനോടു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടും അവളോടുകൂടെ ശയിപ്പാനോ അവളുടെ അരികെ ഇരിപ്പാനോ അവന് അവളെ അനുസരിച്ചില്ല.

10. So it was, as she talked with Joseph day by day, that he did not heed her, to sleep with her, or to be with her.

11. ഒരു ദിവസം അവന് തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി ചെയ്വാന് വീട്ടിന്നകത്തു ചെന്നു; വീട്ടിലുള്ളവര് ആരും അവിടെ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.

11. But it came to pass on a certain day, that Joseph went into the house to do his business, and there was no one of the household inside.

12. അവള് അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം പിടിച്ചുഎന്നോടു കൂടെ ശയിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുഎന്നാല് അവന് തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം അവളുടെ കയ്യില് വിട്ടേച്ചു പുറത്തേക്കു ഔടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

12. And she caught hold of him by his clothes, and said, Lie with me. And having left his clothes in her hands, he fled, and ran outside.

13. അവന് വസ്ത്രം തന്റെ കയ്യില് വിട്ടേച്ചു പുറത്തേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി എന്നു കണ്ടപ്പോള്,

13. And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his clothes in her hands and fled, and ran outside,

14. അവള് വീട്ടിലുള്ളവരെ വിളിച്ചു അവരോടുകണ്ടോ, നമ്മെ ഹാസ്യമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന് ഒരു എബ്രായനെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് എന്നോടുകൂടെ ശയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു; എന്നാല് ഞാന് ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചു.

14. that she called those that were of her house, and spoke to them, saying, See, he has brought in to us a Hebrew servant to mock us- he came in to me, saying, Lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice.

15. ഞാന് ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചതു കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവന് തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വിട്ടേച്ചു ഔടി പൊയ്ക്കളഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, having left his clothes with me, he fled, and went outside.

16. യജമാനന് വീട്ടില് വരുവോളം അവള് ആ വസ്ത്രം തന്റെ പക്കല് വെച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

16. So she left his clothes by her, until his master came home.

17. അവനോടു അവള് അവ്വണം തന്നേ സംസാരിച്ചുനീ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്ന എബ്രായദാസന് എന്നെ ഹാസ്യമാക്കുവാന് എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു.

17. And she spoke to him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, whom you brought in to us, came in to me to mock me, and said to me, I will lie with you.

18. ഞാന് ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചപ്പോള് അവന് തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വിട്ടേച്ചു പുറത്തേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, having left his clothes with me, he fled outside.

19. നിന്റെ ദാസന് ഇങ്ങനെ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തു എന്നു തന്റെ ഭാര്യ പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു യജമാനന് കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവന്നു കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു.

19. And it came to pass, when his master heard all the words of his wife, that she spoke to him, saying, Thus did your servant to me, that he was very angry.

20. യോസേഫിന്റെ യജമാനന് അവനെ പിടിച്ചു രാജാവിന്റെ ബദ്ധന്മാര് കിടക്കുന്ന കാരാഗൃഹത്തില് ആക്കി; അങ്ങനെ അവന് കാരാഗൃഹത്തില് കിടന്നു.

20. And his master took Joseph, and cast him into the prison, into the place where the king's prisoners are kept, there in the prison.

21. എന്നാല് യഹോവ യോസേഫിനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു, കാരാഗൃഹപ്രമാണിക്കു അവനോടു ദയ തോന്നത്തക്കവണ്ണം അവന്നു കൃപ നല്കി.

21. And the Lord was with Joseph, and poured down mercy upon him; and He gave him favor in the sight of the chief keeper of the prison.

22. കാരാഗൃഹത്തിലെ സകലബദ്ധന്മാരെയും കാരാഗൃഹപ്രമാണി യോസേഫിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു; അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തിക്കൊക്കെയും അവന് വിചാരകനായിരുന്നു.

22. And the chief keeper of the prison gave the prison into the hand of Joseph, and all the prisoners, as many as were in the prison; and all things whatsoever they do there, he did them.

23. യഹോവ അവനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു അവന് ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും സഫലമാക്കുകകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ കൈക്കീഴുള്ള യാതൊന്നും കാരാഗൃഹ പ്രമാണി നോക്കിയില്ല.

23. Because of him the chief keeper of the prison knew nothing, for all things were in the hands of Joseph, because the Lord was with him; and whatever things he did, the Lord made them to prosper in his hands.
