1. അങ്ങനെ രാജാവും ഹാമാനും എസ്ഥേര്രാജ്ഞിയോടുകൂടെ വിരുന്നു കഴിവാന് ചെന്നു.

1. So the king and Haman went to dinner with Queen Esther.

2. രണ്ടാം ദിവസവും വീഞ്ഞുവിരുന്നിന്റെ സമയത്തു രാജാവു എസ്ഥേരിനോടുഎസ്ഥേര് രാജ്ഞിയേ, നിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ എന്തു? അതു നിനക്കു ലഭിക്കും; നിന്റെ ആഗ്രഹം എന്തു? രാജ്യത്തില് പാതിയോളമായാലും അതു നിവര്ത്തിച്ചു തരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. At this second dinner, while they were drinking wine the king again asked, 'Queen Esther, what would you like? Half of my kingdom! Just ask and it's yours.'

3. അതിന്നു എസ്ഥേര്രാജ്ഞിരാജാവേ, എന്നോടു കൃപയുണ്ടെങ്കില് രാജാവിന്നു തിരുവുള്ളമുണ്ടെങ്കില് എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു എന്റെ ജീവനെയും എന്റെ ആഗ്രഹം ഔര്ത്തു എന്റെ ജനത്തെയും എനിക്കു നല്കേണമേ.

3. Queen Esther answered, 'If I have found favor in your eyes, O King, and if it please the king, give me my life, and give my people their lives.

4. ഞങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിച്ചു കൊന്നുമുടിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നെയും എന്റെ ജനത്തെയും വിറ്റുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; എന്നാല് ഞങ്ങളെ ദാസീദാസന്മാരായി വിറ്റിരുന്നു എങ്കില് വൈരിക്കു രാജാവിന്റെ നഷ്ടത്തിന്നു തക്ക പ്രതിശാന്തി കൊടുപ്പാന് കഴിവില്ലെന്നു വരികിലും ഞാന് മിണ്ടാതെ ഇരിക്കുമായിരുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

4. 'We've been sold, I and my people, to be destroyed--sold to be massacred, eliminated. If we had just been sold off into slavery, I wouldn't even have brought it up; our troubles wouldn't have been worth bothering the king over.'

5. അഹശ്വേരോശ്രാജാവു എസ്ഥേര്രാജ്ഞിയോടുഅവന് ആര്? ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്വാന് തുനിഞ്ഞവന് എവിടെ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

5. King Xerxes exploded, 'Who? Where is he? This is monstrous!'

6. അതിന്നു എസ്ഥേര്വൈരിയും ശത്രുവും ഈ ദുഷ്ടനായ ഹാമാന് തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള് ഹാമാന് രാജാവിന്റെയും രാജ്ഞിയുടെയും മുമ്പില് ഭ്രമിച്ചുപോയി.

6. 'An enemy. An adversary. This evil Haman,' said Esther. Haman was terror-stricken before the king and queen.

7. രാജാവു ക്രോധത്തോടെ വീഞ്ഞുവിരുന്നു വിട്ടു എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഉദ്യാനത്തിലേക്കു പോയി; എന്നാല് രാജാവു തനിക്കു അനര്ത്ഥം നിശ്ചയിച്ചു എന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു ഹാമാന് തന്റെ ജീവരക്ഷെക്കായി എസ്ഥേര്രാജ്ഞിയോടു അപേക്ഷിപ്പാന് നിന്നു.

7. The king, raging, left his wine and stalked out into the palace garden. Haman stood there pleading with Queen Esther for his life--he could see that the king was finished with him and that he was doomed.

8. രാജാവു ഉദ്യാനത്തില്നിന്നു വീണ്ടും വീഞ്ഞുവിരുന്നുശാലയിലേക്കു വന്നപ്പോള് എസ്ഥേര് ഇരിക്കുന്ന മെത്തമേല് ഹാമാന് വീണുകിടന്നിരുന്നു; അന്നേരം രാജാവുഇവന് എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ അരമനയില്വെച്ചു രാജ്ഞിയെ ബലാല്ക്കാരം ചെയ്യുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഈ വാക്കു രാജാവിന്റെ വായില് നിന്നു വീണ ഉടനെ അവര് ഹാമാന്റെ മുഖം മൂടി.

8. As the king came back from the palace garden into the banquet hall, Haman was groveling at the couch on which Esther reclined. The king roared out, 'Will he even molest the queen while I'm just around the corner?' When that word left the king's mouth, all the blood drained from Haman's face.

9. അപ്പോള് രാജാവിന്റെ ഷണ്ഡന്മാരില് ഒരുത്തനായ ഹര്ബ്ബോനാഇതാ, രാജാവിന്റെ നന്മെക്കായി സംസാരിച്ച മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിക്കു ഹാമാന് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയതായി അമ്പതു മുഴം ഉയരമുള്ള കഴുമരം ഹാമാന്റെ വീട്ടില് നിലക്കുന്നു എന്നു രാജസന്നിധിയില് ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു; അതിന്മേല് തന്നേ അവനെ തൂക്കിക്കളവിന് എന്നു രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചു.

9. Harbona, one of the eunuchs attending the king, spoke up: 'Look over there! There's the gallows that Haman had built for Mordecai, who saved the king's life. It's right next to Haman's house--seventy-five feet high!' The king said, 'Hang him on it!'

10. അവര് ഹാമാനെ അവന് മൊര്ദ്ദെഖായിക്കു വേണ്ടി നാട്ടിയിരുന്ന കഴുമരത്തിന്മേല് തന്നേ തൂക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ രാജാവിന്റെ ക്രോധം ശമിച്ചു.

10. So Haman was hanged on the very gallows that he had built for Mordecai. And the king's hot anger cooled.
