1. എന്റെ കണ്ണു ഇതൊക്കെയും കണ്ടു; എന്റെ ചെവി അതു കേട്ടു ഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

1. Lo, all -- hath mine eye seen, Heard hath mine ear, and it attendeth to it.

2. നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നതു ഞാനും അറിയുന്നു; ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെക്കാള് അധമനല്ല.

2. According to your knowledge I have known -- also I. I am not fallen more than you.

3. സര്വ്വശക്തനോടു ഞാന് സംസാരിപ്പാന് ഭാവിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവത്തോടു വാദിപ്പാന് ഞാന് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.

3. Yet I for the Mighty One do speak, And to argue for God I delight.

4. നിങ്ങളോ ഭോഷകു കെട്ടിയുണ്ടാക്കുന്നവര്; നിങ്ങളെല്ലാവരും പൊട്ടുവൈദ്യന്മാര് തന്നേ.

4. And yet, ye [are] forgers of falsehood, Physicians of nought -- all of you,

5. നിങ്ങള് അശേഷം മിണ്ടാതിരുന്നാല് കൊള്ളാം; അതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ജ്ഞാനമായിരിക്കും.

5. O that ye would keep perfectly silent, And it would be to you for wisdom.

6. എന്റെ ന്യായവാദം കേട്ടുകൊള്വിന് ; എന്റെ അധരങ്ങളുടെ വ്യവഹാരം ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പിന് .

6. Hear, I pray you, my argument, And to the pleadings of my lips attend,

7. നിങ്ങള് ദൈവത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി നീതികേടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നുവോ? അവന്നു വേണ്ടി വ്യാജം പറയുന്നുവോ?

7. For God do ye speak perverseness? And for Him do ye speak deceit?

8. അവന്റെ പക്ഷം പിടിക്കുന്നുവോ? ദൈവത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി വാദിക്കുന്നുവോ?

8. His face do ye accept, if for God ye strive?

9. അവന് നിങ്ങളെ പരിശോധിച്ചാല് നന്നായി കാണുമോ? മര്ത്യനെ തോല്പിക്കുമ്പോലെ നിങ്ങള് അവനെ തോല്പിക്കുമോ?

9. Is [it] good that He doth search you, If, as one mocketh at a man, ye mock at Him?

10. ഗൂഢമായി മുഖദാക്ഷിണ്യം കാണിച്ചാല് അവന് നിങ്ങളെ ശാസിക്കും നിശ്ചയം.

10. He doth surely reprove you, if in secret ye accept faces.

11. അവന്റെ മഹിമ നിങ്ങളെ ഭയപ്പെടുത്തുകയില്ലയോ? അവന്റെ ഭീതി നിങ്ങളുടെ മേല് വീഴുകയില്ലയോ?

11. Doth not His excellency terrify you? And His dread fall upon you?

12. നിങ്ങളുടെ ജ്ഞാപകവാക്യങ്ങള് ഭസ്മവാക്യങ്ങളത്രേ; നിങ്ങളുടെ കോട്ടകള് മണ്കോട്ടകള് തന്നേ.

12. Your remembrances [are] similes of ashes, For high places of clay your heights.

13. നിങ്ങള് മണ്ടാതിരിപ്പിന് ; ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞുകൊള്ളട്ടെ; പിന്നെ എനിക്കു വരുന്നതു വരട്ടെ.

13. Keep silent from me, and I speak, And pass over me doth what?

14. ഞാന് എന്റെ മാംസത്തെ പല്ലുകൊണ്ടു കടിച്ചുപിടിക്കുന്നതും എന്റെ ജീവനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുകളയുന്നതും എന്തിന്നു.

14. Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth? And my soul put in my hand?

15. അവന് എന്നെ കൊന്നാലും ഞാന് അവനെത്തന്നേ കാത്തിരിക്കും; ഞാന് എന്റെ നടപ്പു അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ തെളിയിക്കും.

15. Lo, He doth slay me -- I wait not! Only, my ways unto His face I argue.

16. വഷളന് അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് വരികയില്ല എന്നുള്ളതു തന്നേ എനിക്കൊരു രക്ഷയാകും.

16. Also -- He [is] to me for salvation, For the profane cometh not before Him.

17. എന്റെ വാക്കു ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ കേള്പ്പിന് ; ഞാന് പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നതു നിങ്ങളുടെ ചെവിയില് കടക്കട്ടെ;

17. Hear ye diligently my word, And my declaration with your ears.

18. ഇതാ, ഞാന് എന്റെ ന്യായങ്ങളെ ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ഞാന് നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെടും എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു.

18. Lo, I pray you, I have set in order the cause, I have known that I am righteous.

19. എന്നോടു വാദിപ്പാന് തുനിയുന്നതാര്? ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള് മണ്ടാതിരുന്നു എന്റെ പ്രാണന് വിട്ടുപോകും.

19. Who [is] he that doth strive with me? For now I keep silent and gasp.

20. രണ്ടു കാര്യം മാത്രം എന്നോടു ചെയ്യരുതേ; എന്നാല് ഞാന് നിന്റെ സന്നിധി വിട്ടു ഒളിക്കയില്ല.

20. Only two things, O God, do with me: Then from Thy face I am not hidden.

21. നിന്റെ കൈ എങ്കല്നിന്നു പിന് വലിക്കേണമേ; നിന്റെ ഘോരത്വം എന്നെ ഭ്രമിപ്പിക്കരുതേ.

21. Thy hand put far off from me, And Thy terror let not terrify me.

22. പിന്നെ നീ വിളിച്ചാലും; ഞാന് ഉത്തരം പറയും; അല്ലെങ്കില് ഞാന് സംസാരിക്കാം; നീ ഉത്തരം അരുളേണമേ.

22. And call Thou, and I -- I answer, Or -- I speak, and answer Thou me.

23. എന്റെ അകൃത്യങ്ങളും പാപങ്ങളും എത്ര? എന്റെ അതിക്രമവും പാപവും എന്നെ ഗ്രഹിപ്പിക്കേണമേ.

23. How many iniquities and sins have I? My transgression and my sin let me know.

24. തിരുമുഖം മറെച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നതും എന്നെ ശത്രുവായി വിചാരിക്കുന്നതും എന്തിന്നു?

24. Why dost Thou hide Thy face? And reckonest me for an enemy to Thee?

25. പാറിപ്പോകുന്ന ഇലയെ നീ പേടിപ്പിക്കുമോ? ഉണങ്ങിയ താളടിയെ പിന്തുടരുമോ?

25. A leaf driven away dost Thou terrify? And the dry stubble dost Thou pursue?

26. കൈപ്പായുള്ളതു നീ എനിക്കു എഴുതിവെച്ചു എന്റെ യൌവനത്തിലെ അകൃത്യങ്ങള് എന്നെ അനുഭവിക്കുമാറാക്കുന്നു.

26. For Thou writest against me bitter things, And causest me to possess iniquities of my youth:

27. എന്റെ കാല് നീ ആമത്തില് ഇട്ടു; എന്റെ നടപ്പൊക്കെയും കുറിച്ചുവെക്കുന്നു. എന്റെ കാലടികളുടെ ചുറ്റും വര വരെക്കുന്നു.

27. And puttest in the stocks my feet, And observest all my paths, On the roots of my feet Thou settest a print,

28. ഇജ്ജനം ചീഞ്ഞഴുകിയ വസ്ത്രംപോലെയും പുഴു അരിച്ച വസ്ത്രംപോലെയും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

28. And he, as a rotten thing, weareth away, As a garment hath a moth consumed him.
