1. അതിന്നു ഇയ്യോബ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. Job answered, and said:

2. ഇന്നും എന്റെ സങ്കടം കൊടിയതാകുന്നു; അവന്റെ കൈ എന്റെ ഞരക്കത്തിന്മേല് ഭാരമാകുന്നു.

2. My saying is yet this day in bitterness, and my hand heavy among my groanings.

3. അവനെ എവിടെ കാണുമെന്നറിഞ്ഞെങ്കില് കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ ന്യായാസനത്തിങ്കല് ഞാന് ചെല്ലുമായിരുന്നു.

3. O that I might see him and find him: O that I might come before his seat,

4. ഞാന് അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് എന്റെ ന്യായം വിവരിക്കുമായിരുന്നു; ന്യായവാദം കോരിച്ചൊരിയുമായിരുന്നു.

4. to plead my cause before him, and to fill my mouth with arguments:

5. അവന്റെ ഉത്തരം അറിയാമായിരുന്നു; അവന് എന്തു പറയുമെന്നും ഗ്രഹിക്കാമായിരുന്നു.

5. That I might know, what answer he would give me: and that I might understand, what he would say unto me.

6. അവന് ബലാധിക്യത്തോടെ എന്നോടു വ്യവഹരിക്കുമോ? ഇല്ല; അവന് എന്നെ ആദരിക്കേയുള്ളു.

6. Will he plead against me with his great power and strength, or will he lean himself utterly upon me?

7. അവിടെ നേരുള്ളവന് അവനോടു വാദിക്കുമായിരുന്നു; ഞാന് സദാകാലത്തേക്കും എന്റെ ന്യായാധിപന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു രക്ഷപ്പെടുമായിരുന്നു.

7. Oh no, let him not do so with me. But let him give me like power to go to law, then am I sure to win my matter.

8. ഞാന് കിഴക്കോട്ടു ചെന്നാല് അവന് അവിടെ ഇല്ല; പടിഞ്ഞാറോട്ടു ചെന്നാല് അവനെ കാണുകയില്ല.

8. For though I go before, I find him not: If I come behind, I can get no knowledge of him:

9. വടക്കു അവന് പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കയില് നോക്കീട്ടു അവനെ കാണുന്നില്ല; തെക്കോട്ടു അവന് തിരിയുന്നു; അവനെ കാണുന്നില്ലതാനും.

9. If I go on the left side to ponder his works, I can not attain unto them. Again, if I go on the right side, he hideth himself, that I can not see him.

10. എന്നാല് ഞാന് നടക്കുന്ന വഴി അവന് അറിയുന്നു; എന്നെ ശോധന കഴിച്ചാല് ഞാന് പൊന്നുപോലെ പുറത്തു വരും.

10. But as for my way, he knoweth it: and tryeth me as the gold in the fire.

11. എന്റെ കാലടി അവന്റെ ചുവടു തുടര്ന്നു ചെല്ലുന്നു; ഞാന് വിട്ടുമാറാതെ അവന്റെ വഴി പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നു.

11. Nevertheless my feet keep his path, his high street have I holden, and not gone out of it.

12. ഞാന് അവന്റെ അധരങ്ങളുടെ കല്പന വിട്ടു പിന്മാറീട്ടില്ല; അവന്റെ വായലിലെ വചനങ്ങളെ എന്റെ ആഹാരത്തെക്കാള് സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. I have not forsaken the commandment of his lips, but look what he charged me with his mouth, that have I shut up in my heart.

13. അവനോ അനന്യന് ; അവനെ തടുക്കുന്നതു ആര്? തിരുവുള്ളത്തിന്റെ താല്പര്യം അവന് അനുഷ്ഠിക്കും.

13. It is he him self alone, who will turn him back? He doth as him listeth, and bringeth to pass what he will.

14. എനിക്കു നിയമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു അവന് നിവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു; ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള പലതും അവന്റെ പക്കല് ഉണ്ടു.

14. He rewardeth me in to my bosom, and many other things more doth he, as he may by his power.

15. അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് അവന്റെ സാന്നിദ്ധ്യത്തിങ്കല് ഭ്രമിക്കുന്നു; ഔര്ത്തുനോക്കുമ്പോള് ഞാന് അവനെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു.

15. This is the cause, that I shrink at his presence, so that when I consider him, I am afraid of him.

16. ദൈവം എനിക്കു ധൈര്യക്ഷയം വരുത്തി, സര്വ്വശക്തന് എന്നെ ഭ്രമിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. For in so much as he is God, he maketh my heart soft: and seeing that he is Almighty, he putteth me in fear.

17. ഞാന് പരവശനായിരിക്കുന്നതു അന്ധകാരം നിമിത്തമല്ല, കൂരിരുട്ടു എന്റെ മുഖത്തെ മൂടുന്നതുകൊണ്ടുമല്ല.

17. Thus can not I get out of darkness, the cloud hath so covered my face.
