1. എന്നാല് ലേവികുടുംബത്തിലെ ഒരു പുരുഷന് പോയി ഒരു ലേവ്യകന്യകയെ പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

1. Then there went a man of the house of Leui, and tooke to wife a daughter of Leui,

2. അവള് ഗര്ഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു. അവന് സൌന്ദര്യമുള്ളവന് എന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവനെ മൂന്നു മാസം ഒളിച്ചുവെച്ചു.

2. And the woman coceiued and bare a sonne: and when she saw that he was faire, she hid him three moneths.

3. അവനെ പിന്നെ ഒളിച്ചുവെപ്പാന് കഴിയാതെ ആയപ്പോള് അവള് ഒരു ഞാങ്ങണപ്പെട്ടകം വാങ്ങി, അതിന്നു പശയും കീലും തേച്ചു, പൈതലിനെ അതില് കിടത്തി, നദിയുടെ അരികില് ഞാങ്ങണയുടെ ഇടയില് വെച്ചു.

3. But when she could no longer hide him, she tooke for him an arke made of reede, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and laide the childe therein, and put it among the bulrushes by the riuers brinke.

4. അവന്നു എന്തു ഭവിക്കുമെന്നു അറിവാന് അവന്റെ പെങ്ങള് ദൂരത്തു നിന്നു.

4. Now his sister stood a farre off, to wit what would come of him.

5. അപ്പോള് ഫറവോന്റെ പുത്രി നദിയില് കുളിപ്പാന് വന്നു; അവളുടെ ദാസിമാര് നദീതീരത്തുകൂടി നടന്നു; അവള് ഞാങ്ങണയുടെ ഇടയില് പെട്ടകം കണ്ടപ്പോള് അതിനെ എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുവരുവാന് ദാസിയെ അയച്ചു.

5. Then ye daughter of Pharaoh came downe to wash her in the riuer, and her maidens walked by the riuers side: and when shee sawe the arke among the bulrushes, she sent her maide to fet it.

6. അവള് അതു തുറന്നാറെ പൈതലിനെ കണ്ടുകുട്ടി ഇതാ, കരയുന്നു. അവള്ക്കു അതിനോടു അലിവുതോന്നിഇതു എബ്രായരുടെ പൈതങ്ങളില് ഒന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. Then she opened it, and sawe it was a childe: and beholde, the babe wept: so she had compassion on it, and sayde, This is one of the Ebrewes children.

7. അവന്റെ പെങ്ങള് ഫറവോന്റെ പുത്രിയോടുഈ പൈതലിന്നു മുലകൊടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഒരു എബ്രായസ്ത്രീയെ ഞാന് ചെന്നു വിളിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവരേണമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

7. Then said his sister vnto Pharaohs daughter, Shall I go and cal vnto thee a nurce of the Ebrew women to nurce thee the childe?

8. ഫറവോന്റെ പുത്രി അവളോടുചെന്നു കൊണ്ടു വരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. കന്യക ചെന്നു പൈതലിന്റെ അമ്മയെ വിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

8. And Pharaohs daughter sayde to her, Goe. So the maide went and called the childes mother,

9. ഫറവോന്റെ പുത്രി അവളോടുനീ ഈ പൈതലിനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി മുലകൊടുത്തു വളര്ത്തേണം; ഞാന് നിനക്കു ശമ്പളം തരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. സ്ത്രി പൈതലിനെ എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി മുലകൊടുത്തു വളര്ത്തി.

9. To whome Pharaohs daughter sayde, Take this childe away, and nurce it for me, and I wil reward thee. Then the woman tooke the childe and nurced him.

10. പൈതല് വളര്ന്നശേഷം അവള് അവനെ ഫറവോന്റെ പുത്രിയുടെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടു പോയി, അവന് അവള്ക്കു മകനായിഞാന് അവനെ വെള്ളത്തില് നിന്നു വലിച്ചെടുത്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവള് അവന്നു മോശെ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

10. Nowe the childe grewe, and she brought him vnto Pharaohs daughter, and he was as her sonne, and she called his name Moses, because, said she, I drewe him out of the water.

11. ആ കാലത്തു മോശെ മുതിര്ന്നശേഷം അവന് തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു അവരുടെ ഭാരമുള്ള വേല നോക്കി, തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരില് ഒരു എബ്രായനെ ഒരു മിസ്രയീമ്യന് അടിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

11. And in those dayes, when Moses was growen, he went forth vnto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: also he sawe an Egyptian smiting an Ebrewe one of his brethren.

12. അവന് അങ്ങോട്ടും ഇങ്ങോട്ടും നോക്കീട്ടു ആരും ഇല്ലെന്നു കണ്ടപ്പോള് മിസ്രയീമ്യനെ അടിച്ചു കൊന്നു മണലില് മറവുചെയ്തു.

12. And he looked rounde about, and when he sawe no man, hee slewe the Egyptian, and hid him in the sande.

13. പിറ്റേ ദിവസവും അവന് ചെന്നപ്പോള് രണ്ടു എബ്രായ പുരുഷന്മാര് തമ്മില് ശണ്ഠയിടുന്നതു കണ്ടു, അന്യായം ചെയ്തവനോടുനിന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരനെ അടിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

13. Againe he came forth the second day, and behold, two Ebrewes stroue: and he said vnto him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellowe?

14. അതിന്നു അവന് നിന്നെ ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു പ്രഭുവും ന്യായാധിപതിയും ആക്കിയവന് ആര്? മിസ്രയീമ്യനെ കൊന്നതുപോലെ എന്നെയും കൊല്ലുവാന് ഭാവിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അപ്പോള് കാര്യം പ്രസിദ്ധമായിപ്പോയല്ലോ എന്നു മോശെ പറഞ്ഞു പേടിച്ചു.

14. And hee answered, Who made thee a man of authoritie, and a iudge ouer vs? Thinkest thou to kill mee, as thou killedst the Egyptian? Then Moses feared and sayde, Certainly this thing is knowen.

15. ഫറവോന് ഈ കാര്യം കേട്ടാറെ മോശെയെ കൊല്ലുവാന് അന്വേഷിച്ചു. മോശെ ഫറവോന്റെ സന്നിധിയില്നിന്നു ഔടിപ്പോയി, മിദ്യാന് ദേശത്തു ചെന്നു പാര്ത്തു; അവന് ഒരു കിണറ്റിന്നരികെ ഇരുന്നു.

15. Now Pharaoh heard this matter, and sought to slay Moses: therefore Moses fled from Pharaoh, and dwelt in the lande of Midian, and hee sate downe by a well.

16. മിദ്യാനിലെ പുരോഹിതന്നു ഏഴു പുത്രിമാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അവര് വന്നു അപ്പന്റെ ആടുകള്ക്കു കുടിപ്പാന് വെള്ളം കോരി തൊട്ടികള് നിറെച്ചു.

16. And the Priest of Midian had seue daughters, which came and drewe water, and filled the troghes, for to water their fathers sheepe.

17. എന്നാല് ഇടയന്മാര് വന്നു അവരെ ആട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞുഅപ്പോള് മോശെ എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവരെ സഹായിച്ചു അവരുടെ ആടുകളെ കുടിപ്പിച്ചു.

17. Then the shepherds came and droue them away: but Moses rose vp and defended them, and watered their sheepe.

18. അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പനായ റെഗൂവേലിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നപ്പോള്നിങ്ങള് ഇന്നു ഇത്രവേഗം വന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു അവന് ചോദിച്ചു.

18. And whe they came to Reuel their father, he said, Howe are ye come so soone to day?

19. ഒരു മിസ്രയീമ്യന് ഇടയന്മാരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ വിടുവിച്ചു, ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു വെള്ളം കോരിത്തന്നു ആടുകളെ കുടിപ്പിച്ചു എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

19. And they saide, A man of Egypt deliuered vs from the hand of the shepherdes, and also drew vs water ynough, and watered the sheepe.

20. അവന് തന്റെ പുത്രിമാരോടുഅവന് എവിടെ? നിങ്ങള് അവനെ വിട്ടേച്ചു പോന്നതെന്തു? ഭക്ഷണം കഴിപ്പാന് അവനെ വിളിപ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. Then he saide vnto his daughters, And where is he? why haue ye so left the man? call him that he may eate bread.

21. മോശെക്കു അവനോടുകൂടെ പാര്പ്പാന് സമ്മതമായി; അവന് മോശെക്കു തന്റെ മകള് സിപ്പോറയെ കൊടുത്തു.

21. And Moses agreed to dwell with the man: who gaue vnto Moses Zipporah his daughter:

22. അവള് ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചുഞാന് അന്യദേശത്തു പരദേശി ആയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു ഗേര്ശോം എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

22. And she bare a sonne, whose name he called Gershom: for he said, I haue bene a stranger in a strange lande.

23. ഏറെ നാള് കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു മിസ്രയീംരാജാവു മരിച്ചു. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് അടിമവേല നിമിത്തം നെടുവീര്പ്പിട്ടു നിലവിളിച്ചു; അടിമവേല ഹേതുവായുള്ള നിലവിള ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് എത്തി.

23. Then in processe of time, the King of Egypt dyed, and the children of Israel sighed for the bondage and cryed: and their crie for the bondage came vp vnto God.

24. ദൈവം അവരുടെ നിലവിളി കേട്ടു; ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിനോടും യിസ്ഹാക്കിനോടും യാക്കോബിനോടും തനിക്കുള്ള നിയമവും ഔര്ത്തു.

24. Then God heard their mone, and God remembred his couenant with Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob.

25. ദൈവം യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളെ കടാക്ഷിച്ചു; ദൈവം അറിഞ്ഞു.

25. So God looked vpon the children of Israel, and God had respect vnto them.
