1. എല്ലാറ്റിന്നും ഒരു സമയമുണ്ടു; ആകാശത്തിന് കീഴുള്ള സകലകാര്യത്തിന്നും ഒരു കാലം ഉണ്ടു.

1. To all there is an appointed time, even a time for every purpose under the heavens:

2. ജനിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, മരിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം; നടുവാന് ഒരു കാലം, നട്ടതു പറിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം; കൊല്ലുവാന് ഒരു കാലം, സൌഖ്യമാക്കുവാന് ഒരു കാലം;

2. a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pull up what is planted;

3. ഇടിച്ചുകളവാന് ഒരു കാലം, പണിവാന് ഒരുകാലം,

3. a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to tear down, and a time to build up;

4. കരവാന് ഒരു കാലം ചിരിപ്പാന് ഒരുകാലം; വിലപിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, നൃത്തം ചെയ്വാന് ഒരു കാലം;

4. a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

5. കല്ലു പെറുക്കിക്കളവാന് ഒരു കാലം, കല്ലു പെറുക്കിക്കൂട്ടുവാന് ഒരു കാലം; ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്വാന് ഒരു കാലം, ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്യാതിരിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം;

5. a time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

6. സമ്പാദിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, നഷ്ടമാവാന് ഒരു കാലം; സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, എറിഞ്ഞുകളവാന് ഒരു കാലം;

6. a time to seek, and a time to give up as lost; a time to keep, and a time to throw away;

7. കീറുവാന് ഒരു കാലം, തുന്നുവാന് ഒരു കാലം; മിണ്ടാതിരിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, സംസാരിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം;

7. a time to tear, and a time to sew together; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

8. സ്നേഹിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം, ദ്വേഷിപ്പാന് ഒരു കാലം; യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു ഒരു കാലവും സമാധാനത്തിന്നു ഒരു കാലവും ഉണ്ടു.

8. a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

9. പ്രയത്നിക്കുന്നവന്നു തന്റെ പ്രയത്നംകൊണ്ടു എന്തു ലാഭം?

9. What advantage has he who works in that which he did as a laborer?

10. ദൈവം മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും കഷ്ടപ്പെടുവാന് കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന കഷ്ടപ്പാടു ഞാന് കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു.

10. I have seen the task which God has given to the sons of men, to be humbled by it.

11. അവന് സകലവും അതതിന്റെ സമയത്തു ഭംഗിയായി ചെയ്തു നിത്യതയും മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഹൃദയത്തില് വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. എങ്കിലും ദൈവം ആദിയോടന്തം ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രവൃത്തിയെ ഗ്രഹിപ്പാന് അവര്ക്കും കഴിവില്ല.

11. He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has set eternity in their heart, without which man cannot find out the work that God makes from the beginning even to the end.

12. ജീവപര്യന്തം സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നതും സുഖം അനുഭവിക്കുന്നതും അല്ലാതെ ഒരു നന്മയും മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും ഇല്ല എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു.

12. I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice to do good in his life.

13. ഏതു മനുഷ്യനും തിന്നുകുടിച്ചു തന്റെ സകലപ്രയത്നംകൊണ്ടും സുഖം അനുഭവിക്കുന്നതും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാനം ആകുന്നു.

13. And also every man that eats and drinks, and sees good in his labor, it is the gift of God.

14. ദൈവം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും ശാശ്വതം എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു; അതിനോടു ഒന്നും കൂട്ടുവാനും അതില്നിന്നു ഒന്നും കുറെപ്പാനും കഴിയുന്നതല്ല; മനുഷ്യര് തന്നെ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു ദൈവം അതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever; nothing is to be added to it, and nothing is to diminish from it. And God does it so that they fear before Him.

15. ഇപ്പോഴുള്ളതു പണ്ടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഉണ്ടാകുവാനുള്ളതും മുമ്പു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതു തന്നേ; കഴിഞ്ഞുപോയതിനെ ദൈവം വീണ്ടും അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.

15. That which has been, it already is; and that which is to be, it already has been. And God seeks what has gone by.

16. പിന്നെയും ഞാന് സൂര്യന്നു കീഴെ ന്യായത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തു ന്യായക്കേടും നീതിയുടെ സ്ഥലത്തു നീതികേടും കണ്ടു.

16. And again I saw under the sun the place of justice: wickedness is there; and the place of righteousness, wickedness is there.

17. ഞാന് എന്റെ മനസ്സില്ദൈവം നീതിമാനെയും ദുഷ്ടനെയും ന്യായം വിധിക്കും; സകലകാര്യത്തിന്നും സകലപ്രവൃത്തിക്കും ഒരു കാലം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചു.

17. I said in my heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked; for there is a time there for every good purpose and for every work.

18. പിന്നെയും ഞാന് മനസ്സില് വിചാരിച്ചതുഇതു മനുഷ്യര്നിമിത്തമത്രേ; ദൈവം അവരെ ശോധന കഴിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും തങ്ങള് മൃഗങ്ങള് മാത്രം എന്നു അവര് കാണേണ്ടതിന്നും തന്നേ.

18. I said in my heart concerning the issue of the sons of men, that God may test them and see that they by themselves are beasts.

19. മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും ഭവിക്കുന്നതു മൃഗങ്ങള്ക്കും ഭവിക്കുന്നു; രണ്ടിന്നും ഗതി ഒന്നു തന്നേ; അതു മരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ അവനും മരിക്കുന്നു; രണ്ടിന്നും ശ്വാസം ഒന്നത്രേ; മനുഷ്യന്നു മൃഗത്തെക്കാള് വിശേഷതയില്ല; സകലവും മായയല്ലോ.

19. For that which happens to the sons of men, and that which happens to beasts, even one event is to them. As this one dies, so that one dies; yea, one breath is to all; so that there is to the man no advantage over the beast; for all is vanity.

20. എല്ലാം ഒരു സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു തന്നേ പോകുന്നു; എല്ലാം പൊടിയില് നിന്നുണ്ടായി, എല്ലാം വീണ്ടും പൊടിയായ്തീരുന്നു.

20. All go to one place; all are of the dust, and all return to the dust.

21. മനുഷ്യരുടെ ആത്മാവു മേലോട്ടു പോകുന്നുവോ? മൃഗങ്ങളുടെ ആത്മാവു കീഴോട്ടു ഭൂമിയിലേക്കു പോകുന്നുവോ? ആര്ക്കറിയാം?

21. Who knows the spirit of the sons of man, whether it goes upward; and the spirit of the beast, whether it goes downward to the earth?

22. അതുകൊണ്ടു മനുഷ്യന് തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളില് സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നതല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊരു നന്മയുമില്ല എന്നുഞാന് കണ്ടു; അതു തന്നേ അവന്റെ ഔഹരി; തന്റെ ശേഷം ഉണ്ടാവാനിരിക്കുന്നതു കാണ്മാന് ആര് അവനെ മടക്കിവരുത്തും?

22. And I have seen that nothing is better than that the man should rejoice in his works; for that is his portion; for who can bring him to see what shall be after him?
