1. The LORD gave Moses and Aaron the following regulations

2. നിങ്ങള് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടു പറയേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നാല്ഭൂമിയിലുള്ള സകലമൃഗങ്ങളിലും നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തിന്നാകുന്ന മൃഗങ്ങള് ഇവ

2. for the people of Israel. You may eat any land animal

3. മൃഗങ്ങളില് കുളമ്പു പിളര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നതും കുളമ്പു രണ്ടായി പിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതും അയവിറക്കുന്നതുമായതൊക്കെയും നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തിന്നാം.

3. that has divided hoofs and that also chews the cud,

4. എന്നാല് അയവിറക്കുന്നവയിലും കുളമ്പു പിളര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നവയിലും നിങ്ങള് തിന്നരുതാത്തവ ഇവഒട്ടകം; അയവിറക്കുന്നു എങ്കിലും കുളമ്പു പിളര്ന്നതല്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു അതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അശുദ്ധം.

4. but you must not eat camels, rock badgers, or rabbits. These must be considered unclean; they chew the cud, but do not have divided hoofs.

5. കുഴിമുയല്; അയവിറക്കുന്നു എങ്കിലും കുളമ്പു പിളര്ന്നതല്ലായ്കയാല് അതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അശുദ്ധം.

7. പന്നി കുളമ്പു പിളര്ന്നതായി കുളമ്പു രണ്ടായി പിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതു തന്നേ എങ്കിലും അയവിറക്കുന്നതല്ലായ്കയാല് അതു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അശുദ്ധം.

7. Do not eat pigs. They must be considered unclean; they have divided hoofs, but do not chew the cud.

8. ഇവയുടെ മാംസം നിങ്ങള് തിന്നരുതു; പിണം തൊടുകയും അരുതു; ഇവ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അശുദ്ധം.

8. Do not eat these animals or even touch their dead bodies; they are unclean.

9. വെള്ളത്തിലുള്ള എല്ലാറ്റിലുംവെച്ചു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തിന്നാകുന്നവ ഇവകടലുകളിലും നദികളിലും ഉള്ള വെള്ളത്തില് ചിറകും ചെതുമ്പലും ഉള്ളവ ഒക്കെയും നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തിന്നാം.

9. You may eat any kind of fish that has fins and scales,

10. എന്നാല് കടലുകളിലും നദികളിലും ള്ളള വെള്ളത്തില് ചലനംചെയ്യുന്ന എല്ലാറ്റിലും വെള്ളത്തിലുള്ള സകലജന്തുക്കളിലും ചിറകും ചെതുമ്പലുമില്ലാത്തതു ഒക്കെയും നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അറെപ്പായിരിക്കേണം.

10. but anything living in the water that does not have fins and scales must not be eaten.

11. അവ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അറെപ്പായി തന്നേ ഇരിക്കേണം. അവയുടെ മാംസം തിന്നരുതു; അവയുടെ പിണം നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അറെപ്പായിരിക്കേണം.

11. Such creatures must be considered unclean. You must not eat them or even touch their dead bodies.

12. ചിറകും ചെതുമ്പലും ഇല്ലാതെ വെള്ളത്തില് ഉള്ളതൊക്കെയും നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അറെപ്പു ആയിരിക്കേണം.

12. You must not eat anything that lives in the water and does not have fins and scales.

13. പക്ഷികളില് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അറെപ്പായിരിക്കേണ്ടുന്നവ ഇവഅവയെ തിന്നരുതു; അവ അറെപ്പു ആകുന്നുകഴുകന് , ചെമ്പരുന്തു,

13. You must not eat any of the following birds: eagles, owls, hawks, falcons; buzzards, vultures, crows; ostriches; seagulls, storks, herons, pelicans, cormorants; hoopoes; or bats.

14. കടല്റാഞ്ചന് , ഗൃദ്ധം, അതതു വിധം പരുന്തു,

17. നത്തു, നീര്ക്കാക്ക, ക്കുമന് , മൂങ്ങ,

18. വേഴാമ്പല്, കുടുമ്മച്ചാത്തന് , പെരിഞാറ,

19. അതതതു വിധം കൊകൂ, കുളക്കോഴി, നരിച്ചീര് എന്നിവയും

20. ചിറകുള്ള ഇഴജാതിയില് നാലുകാല്കൊണ്ടു നടക്കുന്നതു ഒക്കെയും നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അറെപ്പായിരിക്കേണം.

20. All winged insects are unclean,

21. എങ്കിലും ചിറകുള്ള ഇഴജാതിയില് നാലുകാല് കൊണ്ടു നടക്കുന്ന എല്ലാറ്റിലും നിലത്തു കുതിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു കാലിന്മേല് തുട ഉള്ളവയെ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തിന്നാം.

21. except those that hop.

22. ഇവയില് അതതു വിധം വെട്ടുക്കിളി, അതതു വിധം വിട്ടില്, അതതു വിധം ചീവീടു, അതതു വിധം തുള്ളന് എന്നിവയെ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തിന്നാം.

22. You may eat locusts, crickets, or grasshoppers.

23. ചിറകും നാലുകാലുമുള്ള ശേഷം ഇഴജാതി ഒക്കെയും നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അറെപ്പായിരിക്കേണം.

23. But all other small things that have wings and also crawl must be considered unclean.

24. അവയാല് നിങ്ങള് അശുദ്ധരാകുംഅവയുടെ പിണം തൊടുന്നവനെല്ലാം സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധന് ആയിരിക്കേണം.

24. If you touch the dead bodies of the following animals, you will be unclean until evening: all animals with hoofs, unless their hoofs are divided and they chew the cud, and all four-footed animals with paws. If you carry their dead bodies, you must wash your clothes, but you will still be unclean until evening.

25. അവയുടെ പിണം വഹിക്കുന്നവനെല്ലാം വസ്ത്രം അലക്കി സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധനായിരിക്കേണം.

27. നാലുകാല്കൊണ്ടു നടക്കുന്ന സകലമൃഗങ്ങളിലും ഉള്ളങ്കാല് പതിച്ചു നടക്കുന്നവ ഒക്കെയും നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അശുദ്ധം; അവയുടെ പിണം തൊടുന്നവനെല്ലാം സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധന് ആയിരിക്കേണം.

28. അവയുടെ പിണം വഹിക്കുന്നവന് വസ്ത്രം അലക്കി സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധനായിരിക്കേണം; അവ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അശുദ്ധം.

29. നിലത്തു ഇഴയുന്ന ഇഴജാതിയില്നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അശുദ്ധമായവ ഇവ

29. Moles, rats, mice, and lizards must be considered unclean.

30. പെരിച്ചാഴി, എലി, അതതു വിധം ഉടുമ്പു, അളുങ്കു, ഔന്തു, പല്ലി, അരണ, തുരവന് .

31. എല്ലാ ഇഴജാതിയിലുംവെച്ചു ഇവ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അശുദ്ധം; അവ ചത്തശേഷം അവയെ തൊടുന്നവനെല്ലാം സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധന് ആയിരിക്കേണം.

31. Whoever touches them or their dead bodies will be unclean until evening.

32. ചത്തശേഷം അവയില് ഒന്നു ഏതിന്മേല് എങ്കിലും വീണാല് അതൊക്കെയും അശുദ്ധമാകും; അതു മരപ്പാത്രമോ വസ്ത്രമോ തോലോ ചാകൂശീലയോ വേലെക്കു ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന പാത്രമോ എന്തായാലും വെള്ളത്തില് ഇടേണം; അതു സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധമായിരിക്കേണം; പിന്നെ ശുദ്ധമാകും.

32. And if their dead bodies fall on anything, it will be unclean. This applies to any article of wood, cloth, leather, or sacking, no matter what it is used for. It shall be dipped in water, but it will remain unclean until evening.

33. അവയില് യാതൊന്നെങ്കിലും ഒരു മണ്പാത്രത്തിന്നകത്തു വീണാല് അതിന്നകത്തുള്ളതു ഒക്കെയും അശുദ്ധമാകും; നിങ്ങള് അതു ഉടെച്ചുകളയേണം.

33. And if their bodies fall into a clay pot, everything that is in it shall be unclean, and you must break the pot.

34. തിന്നുന്ന വല്ല സാധനത്തിന്മേലും ആ വെള്ളം വീണാല് അതു അശുദ്ധമാകും; കുടിക്കുന്ന വല്ല പാനീയവും ആ വക പാത്രത്തില് ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് അതു അശുദ്ധമാകും;

34. Any food which could normally be eaten, but on which water from such a pot has been poured, will be unclean, and anything drinkable in such a pot is unclean.

35. അവയില് ഒന്നിന്റെ പിണം വല്ലതിന്മേലും വീണാല് അതു ഒക്കെയും അശുദ്ധമാകുംഅടുപ്പോ തീച്ചട്ടിയോ ഇങ്ങനെ എന്തായാലും അതു തകര്ത്തുകളയേണം; അവ അശുദ്ധം ആകുന്നു; അവ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അശുദ്ധം ആയിരിക്കേണം.

35. Anything on which the dead bodies fall is unclean; a clay stove or oven shall be broken,

36. എന്നാല് നീരുറവും വെള്ളമുള്ള കിണറും ശുദ്ധമായിരിക്കും; പിണം തൊടുന്നവനോ അശുദ്ധനാകും.

36. but a spring or a cistern remains clean, although anything else that touches their dead bodies is unclean.

37. വിതെക്കുന്ന വിത്തായ വല്ല ധാന്യത്തിന്മേലും അവയില് ഒന്നിന്റെ പിണം വീണാലും അതു ശുദ്ധമായിരിക്കും.

37. If one of them falls on seed that is going to be planted, the seed remains clean.

38. എന്നാല് വിത്തില് വെള്ളം ഒഴിച്ചിട്ടു അവയില് ഒന്നിന്റെ പിണം അതിന്മേല് വീണാല് അതു അശുദ്ധം.

38. But if the seed is soaking in water and one of them falls on it, the seed is unclean.

39. നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തിന്നാകുന്ന ഒരു മൃഗം ചത്താല് അതിന്റെ പിണം തൊടുന്നവന് സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധന് ആയിരിക്കേണം.

39. If any animal that may be eaten dies, anyone who touches it will be unclean until evening.

40. അതിന്റെ പിണം തിന്നുന്നവന് വസ്ത്രം അലക്കി സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധനായിരിക്കേണം; അതിന്റെ പിണം വഹിക്കുന്നവനും വസ്ത്രം അലക്കി സന്ധ്യവരെ അശുദ്ധനായിരിക്കേണം.

40. And if any of you eat any part of the animal, you must wash your clothes, but you will still be unclean until evening; any of you who carry the dead body must wash your clothes, but you will still be unclean until evening.

41. നിലത്തു ഇഴയുന്ന ഇഴജാതിയെല്ലാം അറെപ്പാകുന്നു; അതിനെ തിന്നരുതു.

41. You must not eat any of the small animals that move on the ground,

42. ഉരസ്സുകൊണ്ടു ചരിക്കുന്നതും നാലുകാല്കൊണ്ടു നടക്കുന്നതും അല്ലെങ്കില് അനേകം കാലുള്ളതായി നിലത്തു ഇഴയുന്നതുമായ യാതൊരു ഇഴജാതിയെയും നിങ്ങള് തിന്നരുതു; അവ അറെപ്പാകുന്നു.

42. whether they crawl, or walk on four legs, or have many legs.

43. യാതൊരു ഇഴജാതിയെക്കൊണ്ടും നിങ്ങളെ തന്നേ അറെപ്പാക്കരുതു; അവയാല് നിങ്ങള് മലിനപ്പെടുമാറു നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ അശുദ്ധമാക്കുകയും അരുതു.

43. Do not make yourselves unclean by eating any of these.

44. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആകുന്നു; ഞാന് വിശുദ്ധനാകയാല് നിങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളെ തന്നേ വിശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചു വിശുദ്ധന്മാരായിരിക്കേണം; ഭൂമിയില് ഇഴയുന്ന യാതൊരു ഇഴജാതിയാലും നിങ്ങളെ തന്നേ അശുദ്ധമാക്കരുതു.

44. I am the LORD your God, and you must keep yourselves holy, because I am holy.

45. ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ദൈവമായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ച യഹോവ ആകുന്നു; ഞാന് വിശുദ്ധനാകയാല് നിങ്ങളും വിശുദ്ധന്മാരായിരിക്കേണം.

45. I am the LORD who brought you out of Egypt so that I could be your God. You must be holy, because I am holy.

46. ശുദ്ധവും അശുദ്ധവും തമ്മിലും തിന്നാകുന്ന മൃഗത്തെയും തിന്നരുതാത്ത മൃഗത്തെയും തമ്മിലും

46. This, then, is the law about animals and birds, about everything that lives in the water, and everything that moves on the ground.

47. വകതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഇതു മൃഗങ്ങളെയും പക്ഷികളെയും വെള്ളത്തില് ചലനം ചെയ്യുന്ന സകല ജന്തുക്കളെയും നിലത്തു ഇഴയുന്ന ജന്തുക്കളെയും പറ്റിയുള്ള പ്രമാണം ആകുന്നു.

47. You must be careful to distinguish between what is ritually clean and unclean, between animals that may be eaten and those that may not.
