1. യേശു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു നിറഞ്ഞവനായി യോര്ദ്ദാന് വിട്ടു മടങ്ങി; ആത്മാവു അവനെ മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു നടത്തി; പിശാചു അവനെ നാല്പതു ദിവസം പരീക്ഷിച്ചുകെകണ്ടിരുന്നു.

1. Jesus then full of the holy ghost, returned from Jordan, and was carried of the spirit into a wilderness,

2. ആ ദിവസങ്ങളില് അവന് ഒന്നും ഭക്ഷിച്ചില്ല; അവ കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് അവന്നു വിശന്നു.

2. and was forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days ate he nothing: And when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

3. അപ്പോള് പിശാചു അവനോടുനീ ദൈവ പുത്രന് എങ്കില് ഈ കല്ലിനോടു അപ്പമായി ത്തീരുവാന് കല്പിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. And the devil said unto him: if thou be the son of God, command this stone that he(it) be bread.

4. യേശു അവനോടുമനുഷ്യന് അപ്പംകൊണ്ടു മാത്രമല്ല ജീവിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And Jesus answered him, saying: It is written: man shall not live by bread only, but by every word of God.

5. പിന്നെ പിശാചു അവനെ മേലോട്ടു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി ലോകത്തിലെ സകല രാജ്യങ്ങളെയും ക്ഷണനേരത്തില് അവന്നു കാണിച്ചു

5. And the devil took him up into an high mountain, and shewed him all the kingdoms of the earth,(world) even in the twinkling of an eye.

6. ഈ അധികാരം ഒക്കെയും അതിന്റെ മഹത്വവും നിനക്കു തരാം; അതു എങ്കല് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; എനിക്കു മനസ്സുള്ളവന്നു ഞാന് കൊടുക്കുന്നു.

6. And the devil said unto him: all this power will I give thee every whit, and the glory of them (for that is delivered to me, and to whosoever I will I give it)

7. നീ എന്നെ നമസ്കരിച്ചാല് അതെല്ലാം നിന്റെതാകും എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. If thou therefore wilt worship me, they shall be all thine.

8. യേശു അവനോടുനിന്റെ ദൈവമായ കര്ത്താവിനെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു അവനെ മാത്രമേ ആരാധിക്കാവു എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

8. Jesus answered (him) and said unto him: hence(Avoid) from me Satan. For it is written. Thou shalt honour thy Lord God,(the LORD thy God) and him only serve.

9. പിന്നെ അവന് അവനെ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പോയി ദൈവാലയത്തിന്റെ അഗ്രത്തിന്മേല് നിറുത്തി അവനോടുനീ ദൈവപുത്രന് എങ്കില് ഇവിടെ നിന്നു താഴോട്ടു ചാടുക.

9. And he carried him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him: If thou be the son of God, cast thyself down from hence.

10. “നിന്നെ കാപ്പാന് അവന് തന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരോടു നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു കല്പിക്കയും
സങ്കീർത്തനങ്ങൾ 91:11-12

10. For it is written, he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee,

11. നിന്റെ കാല് കല്ലിനോടു തട്ടാതവണ്ണം അവര് നിന്നെ കയ്യില് താങ്ങിക്കൊള്ളുകയും ചെയ്യും” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. and with their hands they shall stay thee up, that thou hurt(dash) not thy foot against a stone.

12. യേശു അവനോടുനിന്റെ ദൈവമായ കര്ത്താവിനെ പരീക്ഷിക്കരുതു എന്നു അരുച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

12. Jesus answered and said unto(to) him, it is said, thou shalt not tempt thy Lord God.(the LORD thy God.)

13. അങ്ങനെ പിശാചു സകല പരീക്ഷയും തികെച്ചശേഷം കുറെ കാലത്തേക്കു അവനെ വിട്ടുമാറി.

13. And as soon as the devil had ended all his temptations, he departed from him for a season.

14. യേശു ആത്മാവിന്റെ ശകതിയോടെ ഗലീലെക്കു മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു; അവന്റെ ശ്രുതി ചുറ്റുമുള്ള നാട്ടില് ഒക്കെയും പരന്നു.

14. And Jesus returned by the power of the spirit into Galilee, and the fame of him went(was noised) thorow out all the region round about.

15. അവന് അവരുടെ പള്ളികളില് ഉപദേശിച്ചു; എല്ലാവരും അവനെ പ്രശംസിച്ചു.

15. And he taught in their synagogues, and was commended of all men.

16. അവന് വളര്ന്ന നസറെത്തില് വന്നുശബ്ബത്തില് തന്റെ പതിവുപോലെ പള്ളിയില് ചെന്നു വായിപ്പാന് എഴുന്നേറ്റുനിന്നു.

16. And he came to Nazareth where he was nursed, and as his custom was, went into the synagogue on the Sabbath days, and stood up for to read.

17. യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെ പുസ്തകം അവന്നു കൊടുത്തു; അവന് പുസ്തകം വിടര്ത്തി

17. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place, where it was written:

18. “ദരിദ്രന്മാരോടു സുവിശേഷം അറിയിപ്പാന് കര്ത്താവു എന്നെ അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്കയാല് അവന്റെ ആത്മാവു എന്റെമല് ഉണ്ടു; ബദ്ധന്മാര്ക്കും വിടുതലും കുരുടന്മാര്ക്കും കാഴ്ചയും പ്രസംഗിപ്പാനും പീഡിതന്മാരെ വിടുവിച്ചയപ്പാനും
യെശയ്യാ 58:6, യെശയ്യാ 61:1-2

18. The spirit of the Lord upon me, because he hath anointed me; To preach the gospel(gospell) to the poor he hath sent me; And to heal which are troubled in their hearts:(broken hearted:) To preach deliverance to the captive; And sight to the blind; And freely to set at liberty them that are bruised;

19. കര്ത്താവിന്റെ പ്രസാദവര്ഷം പ്രസംഗിപ്പാനും എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലം കണ്ടു.

19. And to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20. പിന്നെ അവന് പുസ്തകം മടക്കി ശുശ്രൂഷക്കാരന്നു തിരികെ കൊടുത്തിട്ടു ഇരുന്നു; പള്ളിയിലുള്ള എല്ലാവരുടെയും കണ്ണു അവങ്കല് പതിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

20. And he closed the book, and gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all that were in the synagogue, were fastened on him.

21. അവന് അവരോടുഇന്നു നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ വചനം കേള്ക്കയില് ഈ തിരുവെഴുത്തിന്നു നിവൃത്തി വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുതുടങ്ങി.

21. And he began to say unto them. This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

22. എല്ലാവരും അവനെ പുകഴ്ത്തി, അവന്റെ വായില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ട ലാവണ്യ വാക്കുകള് നിമിത്തം ആശ്ചര്യപെട്ടു; ഇവന് യോസേഫിന്റെ മകന് അല്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. And all they bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words, which proceeded out of his mouth, and said: Is not this Joseph's son?

23. അവന് അവരോടുവൈദ്യാ, നിന്നെത്തന്നേ സൌഖ്യമാക്കുക എന്നുള്ള പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലും കഫര്ന്നഹൂമില് ഉണ്ടായി കേട്ടതുഎല്ലാം ഈ നിന്റെ പിതൃനഗരത്തിലും ചെയ്കഎന്നും നിങ്ങള് എന്നോടു പറയും നിശ്ചയം.

23. And he said unto them: Ye may very well say unto me this proverb. Physician, heal thyself. Whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do the same (here) likewise in thine own country.

24. ഒരു പ്രവാചകനും തന്റെ പിതൃനഗരത്തില് സമ്മതനല്ല എന്നു ഞാന് സത്യമായിട്ടു നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. And he said: Verily I say unto you: No prophet is accepted in his own country.

25. ഏലീയാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു ആകാശം മൂവാണ്ടും ആറു മാസവും അടഞ്ഞിട്ടു ദേശത്തു എങ്ങും മഹാ ക്ഷാമം ഉണ്ടായപ്പോള് യിസ്രായേലില് പല വിധവമാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് യഥാര്ത്ഥമായി നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.

25. But I tell you of a truth, Many widows were in Israel in the days of Helyas, when heaven was shut three year and six months, when great famishment was throughout all the land;

26. എന്നാല് സിദോനിലെ സരെപ്തയില് ഒരു വിധവയുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കല്ലാതെ അവരില് ആരുടെയും അടുക്കലേക്കു ഏലീയാവിനെ അയച്ചില്ല.

26. And unto none of them was Helyas sent, save into Sarepta besides Sydon unto a woman that was a widow.

27. അവ്വണ്ണം എലീശാപ്രവാചകന്റെ കാലത്തു യിസ്രായേലില് പല കുഷ്ഠരോഗികള് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. സുറിയക്കാരനായ നയമാന് അല്ലാതെ അവരാരും ശുദ്ധമായില്ല എന്നും അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.
2 രാജാക്കന്മാർ 5:1-14

27. And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Heliseus the prophet, and yet none of them was healed, saving(cleansed, save only) Naaman of Siria.

28. പള്ളിയിലുള്ളവര് ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ടു എല്ലാവരും കോപം നിറഞ്ഞവരായി എഴുന്നേറ്റു

28. And as many as were in the synagogue when they heard that, were filled with wrath

29. അവനെ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു പുറത്താക്കി അവരുടെ പട്ടണം പണിതിരുന്ന മലയുടെ വക്കോളം കൊണ്ടുപോയി തലകീഴായി തള്ളിയിടുവാന് ഭാവിച്ചു.

29. and rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him even unto the edge of the hill, whereon their city was built, to cast him down headlong.

30. അവനോ അവരുടെ നടുവില് കൂടി കടന്നുപോയി.

30. But he went his way even thorow the midst of them:

31. അനന്തരം അവന് ഗലീലയിലെ ഒരു പട്ടണമായ കഫര്ന്നഹൂമില് ചെന്നു ശബ്ബത്തില് അവരെ ഉപദേശിച്ചുപോന്നു.

31. and came into Capernaum a city of Galilee, and there taught them on the Sabbath days.

32. അവന്റെ വചനം അധികാരത്തോടെ ആകയാല് അവര് അവന്റെ ഉപദേശത്തില് വിസ്മയിച്ചു.

32. And they were astonied at his doctrine: for his preaching was with power.

33. അവിടെ പള്ളിയില് അശുദ്ധഭൂതം ബാധിച്ച ഒരു മനുഷ്യന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

33. And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a foul spirit within him,(a spirit of an unclean devil) and cried with a loud voice,

34. അവന് നസറായനായ യേശുവേ, വിടു; ഞങ്ങള്ക്കും നിനക്കും തമ്മില് എന്തു? ഞങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നുവോ? നീ ആര് എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധന് തന്നേ എന്നു ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചു.

34. saying: let me alone, what hast thou to do with us, thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us? I know thee what thou art, thou art(even) the holy man of God.

35. മിണ്ടരുതു; അവനെ വിട്ടുപോക എന്നു യേശു അതിനെ ശാസിച്ചപ്പോള് ഭൂതം അവനെ നടുവില് തള്ളിയിട്ടു കേടു ഒന്നും വരുത്താതെ അവനെ വിട്ടുപോയി.

35. And Jesus rebuked him, saying: hold thy peace, and come out of him. And the devil threw him in the midst of them and came out of him, and hurt him not.

36. എല്ലാവര്ക്കും വിസ്മയം ഉണ്ടായിഈ വചനം എന്തു? അധികാരത്തോടും ശക്തിയോടുംകൂടെ അവന് അശുദ്ധാത്മാക്കളോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നു; അവ പുറപ്പെട്ടു പോകുന്നു എന്നു തമ്മില് പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
യെശയ്യാ 52:14

36. And fear came on them all; And they spake among themselves, saying: what manner a thing is this? For with authority and power he commandeth the foul spirits and they come out?

37. അവന്റെ ശ്രുതി ചുറ്റുമുള്ള നാടെങ്ങും പരന്നു.

37. And the fame of him spread abroad(was noised) thorow out all places of the country round about.

38. അവന് പള്ളിയില്നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി ശിമോന്റെ വീട്ടില് ചെന്നു. ശിമോന്റെ അമ്മാവിയമ്മ കഠിനജ്വരംകൊണ്ടു വലഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാല് അവര് അവള്ക്കുവേണ്ടി അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

38. And he rose up and came out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's mother-in-law was taken with a great fever; And they made intercession to him for her.

39. അവന് അവളെ കുനിഞ്ഞു നോക്കി, ജ്വരത്തെ ശാസിച്ചു; അതു അവളെ വിട്ടുമാറി; അവള് ഉടനെ എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവനെ ശുശ്രൂഷിച്ചു.

39. And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever: and it left her. And immediately she (a) rose and ministered unto them.

40. സൂര്യന് അസ്തമിക്കുമ്പോള് നാനാവ്യാധികള് പിടിച്ച ദീനക്കാര് ഉള്ളവര് ഒക്കെയും അവരെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവന് ഔരോരുത്തന്റെയും മേല് കൈ വെച്ചു അവരെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കി.

40. When the son was down, all they that had sick, taken with divers diseases, brought them unto him: and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.(made them whole)

41. പലരില് നിന്നും ഭൂതങ്ങള്; നീ ദൈവപുത്രനായ ക്രിസ്തു എന്നു നില വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി; താന് ക്രിസ്തു എന്നു അവ അറികകൊണ്ടു മിണ്ടുവാന് അവന് സമ്മതിക്കാതെ അവയെ ശാസിച്ചു.

41. And devils also came out of many of them, crying and saying: thou art Christ the son of God. And he rebuked them, and suffered them not to speak, for they knew that he was Christ.

42. നേരം വെളുത്തപ്പോള് അവന് പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഒരു നിര്ജ്ജനസ്ഥലത്തേക്കു പോയി. പുരുഷാരം അവനെ തിരഞ്ഞു അവന്റെ അരികത്തു വന്നു തങ്ങളെ വിട്ടു പോകാതിരിപ്പാന് അവനെ തടുത്തു.

42. As soon as it was day, he departed and went away into a desert place, and the people sought him and came to him, and kept him that he should not depart from them.

43. അവന് അവരോടുഞാന് മറ്റുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും ദൈവരാജ്യം സുവിശേഷിക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു; ഇതിനായിട്ടല്ലോ എന്നെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

43. And he said unto them: I must to other cities also preach the word(the Gospell of the kingdom) of God, for therefore am I sent.

44. അങ്ങനെ അവന് ഗലീലയിലെ പള്ളികളില് പ്രസംഗിച്ചുപോന്നു.

44. And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.
