1. മറിയയുടെയും അവളുടെ സഹോദരി മാര്ത്തയുടെയും ഗ്രാമമായ ബേഥാന്യയിലെ ലാസര് എന്ന ഒരുത്തന് ദീനമായ്ക്കിടന്നു.

1. And a certaine man was sicke, named Lazarus of Bethania, the towne of Marie, and her sister Martha.

2. ഈ മറിയ ആയിരുന്നു കര്ത്താവിനെ പരിമള തൈലം പൂശി തന്റെ തലമുടികൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ കാല് തുടച്ചതു. അവളുടെ സഹോദരനായ ലാസര് ആയിരുന്നു ദീനമായ്ക്കിടന്നതു.

2. (And it was that Mary which anointed the Lord with oyntment, and wiped his feete with her heare, whose brother Lazarus was sicke.)

3. ആ സഹോദരിമാര് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചുകര്ത്താവേ, നിനക്കു പ്രിയനായവന് ദീനമായ്ക്കിടക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

3. Therefore his sisters sent vnto him, saying, Lord, beholde, he whome thou louest, is sicke.

4. യേശു അതു കേട്ടിട്ടുഈ ദീനം മരണത്തിന്നായിട്ടല്ല, ദൈവപുത്രന് മഹത്വപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മഹത്വത്തിന്നായിട്ടത്രേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. When Iesus heard it, he saide, This sickenes is not vnto death, but for the glorie of God, that the Sonne of God might be glorified thereby.

5. യേശു മാര്ത്തയെയും അവളുടെ സഹോദരിയെയും ലാസരിനെയും സ്നേഹിച്ചു. എന്നിട്ടും അവന് ദീനമായ്ക്കിടക്കുന്നു എന്നു കേട്ടാറെ താന് അന്നു ഇരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു രണ്ടു ദിവസം പാര്ത്തു.

5. Nowe Iesus loued Martha and her sister, and Lazarus.

6. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം അവന് ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടുനാം വീണ്ടും യെഹൂദ്യയിലേക്കു പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. And after he had heard that he was sicke, yet abode hee two dayes still in the same place where he was.

7. ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അവനോടുറബ്ബീ, യെഹൂദന്മാര് ഇപ്പോള്തന്നേ നിന്നെ കല്ലെറിവാന് ഭാവിച്ചുവല്ലോ; നീ പിന്നെയും അവിടെ പോകുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

7. Then after that, said he to his disciples, Let vs goe into Iudea againe.

8. അതിന്നു യേശുപകലിന്നു പന്ത്രണ്ടു മണിനേരം ഇല്ലയോ? പകല് സമയത്തു നടക്കുന്നവന് ഈ ലോകത്തിന്റെ വെളിച്ചം കാണുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ഇടറുന്നില്ല.

8. The disciples saide vnto him, Master, the Iewes lately sought to stone thee, and doest thou goe thither againe?

9. രാത്രിയില് നടക്കുന്നവനോ അവന്നു വെളിച്ചം ഇല്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഇടറുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Iesus answered, Are there not twelue houres in the day? If a man walke in the day, hee stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.

10. ഇതു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന് നമ്മുടെ സ്നേഹിതനായ ലാസര് നിദ്രകൊള്ളുന്നു; എങ്കിലും ഞാന് അവനെ ഉണര്ത്തുവാന് പോകുന്നു എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. But if a man walke in the night, hee stumbleth, because there is no light in him.

11. ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അവനോടുകര്ത്താവേ, അവന് നിദ്രകൊള്ളുന്നു എങ്കില് അവന്നു സൌഖ്യം വരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. These things spake he, and after, he said vnto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth: but I goe to wake him vp.

12. യേശുവോ അവന്റെ മരണത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ആയിരുന്നു പറഞ്ഞതു; ഉറക്കം എന്ന നിദ്രയെക്കുറിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു അവര്ക്കും തോന്നിപ്പോയി.

12. Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleepe, he shalbe safe.

13. അപ്പോള് യേശു സ്പഷ്ടമായി അവരോടുലാസര് മരിച്ചുപോയി;

13. Howbeit, Iesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of the naturall sleepe.

14. ഞാന് അവിടെ ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളെ വിചാരിച്ചു സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് വിശ്വസിപ്പാന് ഇടയാകുമല്ലോ; എന്നാല് നാം അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. Then saide Iesus vnto them plainely, Lazarus is dead.

15. ദിദിമൊസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള തോമസ് സഹശിഷ്യന്മാരോടുഅവനോടു കൂടെ മരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നാമും പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And I am glad for your sakes, that I was not there, that ye may beleeue: but let vs go vnto him.

16. യേശു അവിടെ എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവനെ കല്ലറയില് വെച്ചിട്ടു നാലുദിവസമായി എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞു.

16. Then saide Thomas (which is called Didymus) vnto his felow disciples, Let vs also goe, that we may die with him.

17. ബേഥാന്യ യെരൂശലേമിന്നരികെ ഏകദേശം രണ്ടു നാഴിക ദൂരത്തായിരുന്നു.

17. Then came Iesus, and found that he had lien in the graue foure dayes alreadie.

18. മാര്ത്തയെയും മറിയയെയും സഹോദരനെക്കുറിച്ചു ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു പല യെഹൂദന്മാരും അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നിരുന്നു.

18. (Nowe Bethania was neere vnto Hierusalem, about fifteene furlongs off.)

19. യേശു വരുന്നു എന്നു കേട്ടിട്ടു മാര്ത്ത അവനെ എതിരേല്പാന് ചെന്നു; മറിയയോ വീട്ടില് ഇരുന്നു.

19. And many of ye Iewes were come to Martha and Marie to comfort them for their brother.

20. മാര്ത്ത യേശുവിനോടുകര്ത്താവേ, നീ ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എങ്കില് എന്റെ സഹോദരന് മരിക്കയില്ലായിരുന്നു.

20. Then Martha, when shee heard that Iesus was comming, went to meete him: but Mary sate still in the house.

21. ഇപ്പോഴും നീ ദൈവത്തോടു എന്തു അപേക്ഷിച്ചാലും ദൈവം നിനക്കു തരും എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. Then said Martha vnto Iesus, Lord, if thou hadst bene here, my brother had not bene dead.

22. യേശു അവളോടുനിന്റെ സഹോദരന് ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേലക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. But now I know also, that whatsoeuer thou askest of God, God will giue it thee.

23. മാര്ത്ത അവനോടുഒടുക്കത്തെ നാളിലെ പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തില് അവന് ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേലക്കും എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

23. Iesus said vnto her, Thy brother shall rise againe.

24. യേശു അവളോടുഞാന് തന്നേ പുനരുത്ഥാനവും ജീവനും ആകുന്നു; എന്നില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന് മരിച്ചാലും ജീവിക്കും.
ദാനീയേൽ 12:2

24. Martha said vnto him, I know that he shall rise againe in the resurrection at the last day.

25. ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു എന്നില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന് ആരും ഒരു നാളും മരിക്കയില്ല; ഇതു നീ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25. Iesus saide vnto her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that beleeueth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he liue.

26. അവള് അവനോടുഉവ്വു, കര്ത്താവേ, ലോകത്തില് വരുവാനുള്ള ദൈവപുത്രനായ ക്രിസ്തു നീ തന്നേ എന്നു ഞാന് വിശ്വസിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു

26. And whosoeuer liueth, and beleeueth in me, shall neuer die: Beleeuest thou this?

27. പോയി തന്റെ സഹോദരിയായ മറിയയെ സ്വകാര്യമായി വിളിച്ചുഗുരു വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടു നിന്നെ വിളിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. She said vnto him, Yea, Lord, I beleeue that thou art that Christ that Sonne of God, which should come into the world.

28. അവള് കേട്ട ഉടനെ എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു.

28. And when she had so saide, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.

29. യേശു അതുവരെ ഗ്രാമത്തില് കടക്കാതെ മാര്ത്ത അവനെ എതിരേറ്റ സ്ഥലത്തു തന്നേ ആയിരുന്നു.

29. And when she heard it, shee arose quickly, and came vnto him.

30. വീട്ടില് അവളോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു അവളെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാര്, മറിയ വേഗം എഴുന്നേറ്റു പോകുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവള് കല്ലറെക്കല് കരവാന് പോകുന്നു എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചു പിന് ചെന്നു.

30. For Iesus was not yet come into the towne, but was in the place where Martha met him.

31. യേശു ഇരിക്കുന്നേടത്തു മറിയ എത്തി അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കല് വീണുകര്ത്താവേ, നീ ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എങ്കില് എന്റെ സഹോദരന് മരിക്കയില്ലായിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

31. The Iewes then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they sawe Marie, that she rose vp hastily, and went out, folowed her, saying, She goeth vnto the graue, to weepe there.

32. അവള് കരയുന്നതും അവളോടുകൂടെ വന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാര് കരയുന്നതും യേശു കണ്ടിട്ടു ഉള്ളം നൊന്തു കലങ്ങി

32. Then when Mary was come where Iesus was, and sawe him, she fell downe at his feete, saying vnto him, Lord, if thou haddest bene here, my brother had not bene dead.

33. അവനെ വെച്ചതു എവിടെ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. കര്ത്താവേ, വന്നു കാണ്ക എന്നു അവര് അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

33. When Iesus therefore saw her weepe, and the Iewes also weepe which came with her, hee groned in the spirit, and was troubled in himselfe,

34. യേശു കണ്ണുനീര് വാര്ത്തു.

34. And saide, Where haue ye layde him? They said vnto him, Lord, come and see.

35. ആകയാല് യെഹൂദന്മാര്കണ്ടോ അവനോടു എത്ര പ്രിയം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

35. And Iesus wept.

36. ചിലരോകുരുടന്റെ കണ്ണു തുറന്ന ഇവന്നു ഇവനെയും മരിക്കാതാക്കുവാന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

36. Then saide the Iewes, Beholde, how he loued him.

37. യേശു പിന്നെയും ഉള്ളംനൊന്തു കല്ലറെക്കല് എത്തി; അതു ഒരു ഗുഹ ആയിരുന്നു; ഒരു കല്ലും അതിന്മേല് വെച്ചിരുന്നു.

37. And some of them saide, Coulde not he, which opened the eyes of the blinde, haue made also, that this man should not haue died?

38. കല്ലു നീക്കുവിന് എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞു മരിച്ചവന്റെ സഹോദരിയായ മാര്ത്തകര്ത്താവേ, നാറ്റം വെച്ചുതുടങ്ങി; നാലുദിവസമായല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

38. Iesus therefore againe groned in himselfe, and came to the graue. And it was a caue, and a stone was layde vpon it.

39. യേശു അവളോടുവിശ്വസിച്ചാല് നീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മഹത്വം കാണും എന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

39. Iesus saide, Take ye away the stone. Martha the sister of him that was dead, said vnto him, Lord, he stinketh alreadie: for he hath bene dead foure dayes.

40. അവര് കല്ലു നീക്കി. യേശു മേലോട്ടു നോക്കിപിതാവേ, നീ എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടതിനാല് ഞാന് നിന്നെ വാഴ്ത്തുന്നു.

40. Iesus saide vnto her, Saide I not vnto thee, that if thou diddest beleeue, thou shouldest see the glorie of God?

41. നീ എപ്പോഴും എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേള്ക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും നീ എന്നെ അയച്ചു എന്നു ചുറ്റും നിലക്കുന്ന പുരുഷാരം വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരുടെ നിമിത്തം ഞാന് പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

41. Then they tooke away the stone from the place where the dead was layde. And Iesus lift vp his eyes, and saide, Father, I thanke thee, because thou hast heard me.

42. ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന് ലാസരേ, പുറത്തുവരിക എന്നു ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചു.

42. I knowe that thou hearest me alwayes, but because of the people that stand by, I said it, that they may beleeue, that thou hast sent me.

43. മരിച്ചവന് പുറത്തുവന്നു; അവന്റെ കാലും കയ്യും ശീലകൊണ്ടു കെട്ടിയും മുഖം റൂമാല്കൊണ്ടു മൂടിയുമിരുന്നു. അവന്റെ കെട്ടു അഴിപ്പിന് ; അവന് പോകട്ടെ എന്നു യേശു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

43. As hee had spoken these things, hee cried with a loude voyce, Lazarus, come foorth.

44. മറിയയുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാരില് പലരും അവന് ചെയ്തതു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവനില് വിശ്വസിച്ചു.

44. Then he that was dead, came forth, bound hande and foote with bandes, and his face was bound with a napkin. Iesus said vnto them, Loose him, and let him goe.

45. എന്നാല് ചിലര് പരീശന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് പോയി യേശു ചെയ്തതു അവരോടു അറിയിച്ചു.

45. Then many of the Iewes, which came to Mary, and had seene the thinges, which Iesus did, beleeued in him.

46. മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും പരീശന്മാരും സംഘം കൂടിനാം എന്തു ചെയ്യേണ്ടു? ഈ മനുഷ്യന് വളരെ അടയാളങ്ങള് ചെയ്യുന്നുവല്ലോ.

46. But some of them went their way to the Pharises, and told them what things Iesus had done.

47. അവനെ ഇങ്ങനെ വിട്ടേച്ചാല് എല്ലാവരും അവനില് വിശ്വസിക്കും; റോമക്കാരും വന്നു നമ്മുടെ സ്ഥലത്തെയും ജനത്തെയും എടുത്തുകളയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

47. Then gathered the hie Priests, and the Pharises a councill, and said, What shall we doe? For this man doeth many miracles.

48. അവരില് ഒരുത്തന് , ആ സംവത്സരത്തെ മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ കയ്യഫാവു തന്നേ, അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ഒന്നും അറിയുന്നില്ല;

48. If we let him thus alone, all men will beleeue in him, and the Romanes will come and take away both our place, and the nation.

49. ജനം മുഴുവനും നശിച്ചുപോകാതവണ്ണം ഒരു മനുഷ്യന് ജാതിക്കു വേണ്ടി മരിക്കുന്നതു നന്നു എന്നു ഔര്ക്കുംന്നതുമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

49. Then one of them named Caiaphas, which was the hie Priest that same yere, said vnto them, Ye perceiue nothing at all,

50. അവന് ഇതു സ്വയമായി പറഞ്ഞതല്ല, താന് ആ സംവത്സരത്തെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന് ആകയാല് ജനത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി യേശു മരിപ്പാന് ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പ്രവചിച്ചതത്രേ.

50. Nor yet doe you consider that it is expedient for vs, that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

51. ജനത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി മാത്രമല്ല ചിതറിയിരിക്കുന്ന ദൈവമക്കളെ ഒന്നായിട്ടു ചേര്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും തന്നേ.

51. This spake hee not of himselfe: but being hie Priest that same yere, he prophecied that Iesus should die for that nation:

52. അന്നു മുതല് അവര് അവനെ കൊല്ലുവാന് ആലോചിച്ചു.
ഉല്പത്തി 49:10

52. And not for that nation onely, but that he shoulde gather together in one the children of God, which were scattered.

53. അതുകൊണ്ടു യേശു യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഇടയില് പിന്നെ പരസ്യമായി നടക്കാതെ അവിടം വിട്ടു മരുഭൂമിക്കരികെ എഫ്രയീം എന്ന പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു വാങ്ങി ശിഷ്യന്മാരുമായി അവിടെ പാര്ത്തു.

53. Then from that day foorth they consulted together, to put him to death.

54. യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ പെസഹ അടുത്തിരിക്കയാല് പലരും തങ്ങള്ക്കു ശുദ്ധിവരുത്തുവാന് പെസഹെക്കു മുമ്പെ നാട്ടില് നിന്നു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു പോയി.

54. Iesus therefore walked no more openly among the Iewes, but went thence vnto a countrey neere to the wildernes, into a citie called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.

55. അവര് യേശുവിനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു ദൈവാലയത്തില് നിന്നുകൊണ്ടുഎന്തു തോന്നുന്നു? അവന് പെരുനാള്ക്കു വരികയില്ലയോ എന്നു തമ്മില് പറഞ്ഞു.
2 ദിനവൃത്താന്തം 30:17

55. And the Iewes Passeouer was at hande, and many went out of the countrey vp to Hierusalem before the Passeouer, to purifie themselues.

56. എന്നാല് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും പരീശന്മാരും അവനെ പിടിക്കേണം എന്നു വെച്ചു അവന് ഇരിക്കുന്ന ഇടം ആരെങ്കിലും അറിഞ്ഞാല് അറിവു തരേണമെന്നു കല്പന കൊടുത്തിരുന്നു.

56. Then sought they for Iesus, and spake among themselues, as they stoode in the Temple, What thinke ye, that he cometh not to the feast?
