1. മറിയയുടെയും അവളുടെ സഹോദരി മാര്ത്തയുടെയും ഗ്രാമമായ ബേഥാന്യയിലെ ലാസര് എന്ന ഒരുത്തന് ദീനമായ്ക്കിടന്നു.

1. Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, of the village of Mary and Martha her sister.

2. ഈ മറിയ ആയിരുന്നു കര്ത്താവിനെ പരിമള തൈലം പൂശി തന്റെ തലമുടികൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ കാല് തുടച്ചതു. അവളുടെ സഹോദരനായ ലാസര് ആയിരുന്നു ദീനമായ്ക്കിടന്നതു.

2. And Mary was she who anointed the Lord with perfume, and wiped his feet with her hair whose brother Lazarus was sick.

3. ആ സഹോദരിമാര് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചുകര്ത്താവേ, നിനക്കു പ്രിയനായവന് ദീനമായ്ക്കിടക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

3. The sisters, therefore, sent out unto him, saying Lord, see! he whom thou tenderly lovest, is sick.

4. യേശു അതു കേട്ടിട്ടുഈ ദീനം മരണത്തിന്നായിട്ടല്ല, ദൈവപുത്രന് മഹത്വപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മഹത്വത്തിന്നായിട്ടത്രേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. But Jesus hearing, said This sickness, is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified thereby.

5. യേശു മാര്ത്തയെയും അവളുടെ സഹോദരിയെയും ലാസരിനെയും സ്നേഹിച്ചു. എന്നിട്ടും അവന് ദീനമായ്ക്കിടക്കുന്നു എന്നു കേട്ടാറെ താന് അന്നു ഇരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു രണ്ടു ദിവസം പാര്ത്തു.

5. Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.

6. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം അവന് ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടുനാം വീണ്ടും യെഹൂദ്യയിലേക്കു പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. When, therefore, he heard that he was sick, then, indeed, he abode in the place where he was, two days.

7. ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അവനോടുറബ്ബീ, യെഹൂദന്മാര് ഇപ്പോള്തന്നേ നിന്നെ കല്ലെറിവാന് ഭാവിച്ചുവല്ലോ; നീ പിന്നെയും അവിടെ പോകുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

7. Then, after this, he saith unto the disciples Let us be leading on into Judaea, again.

8. അതിന്നു യേശുപകലിന്നു പന്ത്രണ്ടു മണിനേരം ഇല്ലയോ? പകല് സമയത്തു നടക്കുന്നവന് ഈ ലോകത്തിന്റെ വെളിച്ചം കാണുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ഇടറുന്നില്ല.

8. The disciples say unto him Rabbi! just now, were the Jews seeking to stone thee and, again, goest thou thither?

9. രാത്രിയില് നടക്കുന്നവനോ അവന്നു വെളിച്ചം ഇല്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഇടറുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Jesus answered Are there not, twelve hours, in the day? If one walk in the day, he doth no stumble, because, the light of this world, he seeth;

10. ഇതു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന് നമ്മുടെ സ്നേഹിതനായ ലാസര് നിദ്രകൊള്ളുന്നു; എങ്കിലും ഞാന് അവനെ ഉണര്ത്തുവാന് പോകുന്നു എന്നു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. But, if one walk in the night, he stumbleth, because, the light, is not in him.

11. ശിഷ്യന്മാര് അവനോടുകര്ത്താവേ, അവന് നിദ്രകൊള്ളുന്നു എങ്കില് അവന്നു സൌഖ്യം വരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. These things, he said, and, after this, he saith unto them Lazarus, our dear friend, hath fallen asleep; but I am going, that I may awake him.

12. യേശുവോ അവന്റെ മരണത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ആയിരുന്നു പറഞ്ഞതു; ഉറക്കം എന്ന നിദ്രയെക്കുറിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു അവര്ക്കും തോന്നിപ്പോയി.

12. The disciples, therefore, said unto him Lord! if he have fallen asleep, he will recover.

13. അപ്പോള് യേശു സ്പഷ്ടമായി അവരോടുലാസര് മരിച്ചുപോയി;

13. But Jesus had spoken concerning his death; whereas, they, supposed that, concerning the taking of rest in sleep, he had been speaking.

14. ഞാന് അവിടെ ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളെ വിചാരിച്ചു സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് വിശ്വസിപ്പാന് ഇടയാകുമല്ലോ; എന്നാല് നാം അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. Jesus, therefore, then, said unto them, plainly, Lazarus, died;

15. ദിദിമൊസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള തോമസ് സഹശിഷ്യന്മാരോടുഅവനോടു കൂടെ മരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നാമും പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. and I rejoice, for your sake that ye may believe, that I was not there; but let us be going unto him.

16. യേശു അവിടെ എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവനെ കല്ലറയില് വെച്ചിട്ടു നാലുദിവസമായി എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞു.

16. Thomas, therefore, the one called Didymus, said unto his fellow-disciples Let, us also, be going, that we may die with him.

17. ബേഥാന്യ യെരൂശലേമിന്നരികെ ഏകദേശം രണ്ടു നാഴിക ദൂരത്തായിരുന്നു.

17. Jesus, therefore, coming, found that, four days already, had he been in the tomb.

18. മാര്ത്തയെയും മറിയയെയും സഹോദരനെക്കുറിച്ചു ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു പല യെഹൂദന്മാരും അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നിരുന്നു.

18. Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off;

19. യേശു വരുന്നു എന്നു കേട്ടിട്ടു മാര്ത്ത അവനെ എതിരേല്പാന് ചെന്നു; മറിയയോ വീട്ടില് ഇരുന്നു.

19. and, many from among the Jews, had come unto Martha and Mary, that they might console them concerning their brother.

20. മാര്ത്ത യേശുവിനോടുകര്ത്താവേ, നീ ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എങ്കില് എന്റെ സഹോദരന് മരിക്കയില്ലായിരുന്നു.

20. Martha, therefore, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet him; but, Mary, in the house, remained sitting.

21. ഇപ്പോഴും നീ ദൈവത്തോടു എന്തു അപേക്ഷിച്ചാലും ദൈവം നിനക്കു തരും എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. Martha, therefore, said unto Jesus Lord! if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died;

22. യേശു അവളോടുനിന്റെ സഹോദരന് ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേലക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. And, now, I know, that, whatsoever thou shalt ask of God, God, will give unto thee.

23. മാര്ത്ത അവനോടുഒടുക്കത്തെ നാളിലെ പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തില് അവന് ഉയിര്ത്തെഴുന്നേലക്കും എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

23. Jesus saith unto her Thy brother shall rise.

24. യേശു അവളോടുഞാന് തന്നേ പുനരുത്ഥാനവും ജീവനും ആകുന്നു; എന്നില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന് മരിച്ചാലും ജീവിക്കും.
ദാനീയേൽ 12:2

24. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise, in the resurrection, in the last day.

25. ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു എന്നില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന് ആരും ഒരു നാളും മരിക്കയില്ല; ഇതു നീ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

25. Jesus said unto her I, am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth on me, even though he die, shall live again!

26. അവള് അവനോടുഉവ്വു, കര്ത്താവേ, ലോകത്തില് വരുവാനുള്ള ദൈവപുത്രനായ ക്രിസ്തു നീ തന്നേ എന്നു ഞാന് വിശ്വസിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു

26. And, no one who liveth again and believeth on me, shall in anywise die, unto times age-abiding. Believest thou this?

27. പോയി തന്റെ സഹോദരിയായ മറിയയെ സ്വകാര്യമായി വിളിച്ചുഗുരു വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടു നിന്നെ വിളിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. She saith unto him Yea, Lord! I, have believed, that, thou, art the Christ, the Son of God, He who, into the world, should come.

28. അവള് കേട്ട ഉടനെ എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു.

28. And this saying, she went away, and called Mary her sister, secretly, saying The teacher, is present, and calleth thee.

29. യേശു അതുവരെ ഗ്രാമത്തില് കടക്കാതെ മാര്ത്ത അവനെ എതിരേറ്റ സ്ഥലത്തു തന്നേ ആയിരുന്നു.

29. And, she, when she heard, was roused up quickly, and was coming unto him.

30. വീട്ടില് അവളോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു അവളെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാര്, മറിയ വേഗം എഴുന്നേറ്റു പോകുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവള് കല്ലറെക്കല് കരവാന് പോകുന്നു എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചു പിന് ചെന്നു.

30. Not yet, however, had Jesus come into the village, but was still in the place where, Martha, met him.

31. യേശു ഇരിക്കുന്നേടത്തു മറിയ എത്തി അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കല് വീണുകര്ത്താവേ, നീ ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എങ്കില് എന്റെ സഹോദരന് മരിക്കയില്ലായിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

31. The Jews, therefore, who were with her in the house and consoling her, seeing Mary, that quickly she arose and went out, followed her, supposing that she was withdrawing unto the tomb, that she might weep there.

32. അവള് കരയുന്നതും അവളോടുകൂടെ വന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാര് കരയുന്നതും യേശു കണ്ടിട്ടു ഉള്ളം നൊന്തു കലങ്ങി

32. Mary, therefore, when she came where Jesus was, seeing him, fell at his feet, saying unto him Lord! if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

33. അവനെ വെച്ചതു എവിടെ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. കര്ത്താവേ, വന്നു കാണ്ക എന്നു അവര് അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

33. Jesus, therefore, when he saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, was indignant in the spirit, and troubled himself,

34. യേശു കണ്ണുനീര് വാര്ത്തു.

34. and said Where have ye laid him? They say unto him Lord! come and see.

35. ആകയാല് യെഹൂദന്മാര്കണ്ടോ അവനോടു എത്ര പ്രിയം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

35. Jesus wept.

36. ചിലരോകുരുടന്റെ കണ്ണു തുറന്ന ഇവന്നു ഇവനെയും മരിക്കാതാക്കുവാന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

36. The Jews, therefore, were saying See! how tenderly he loved him!

37. യേശു പിന്നെയും ഉള്ളംനൊന്തു കല്ലറെക്കല് എത്തി; അതു ഒരു ഗുഹ ആയിരുന്നു; ഒരു കല്ലും അതിന്മേല് വെച്ചിരുന്നു.

37. But, some from among them, said Could not this man, who opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that, this one also, should not have died?

38. കല്ലു നീക്കുവിന് എന്നു യേശു പറഞ്ഞു മരിച്ചവന്റെ സഹോദരിയായ മാര്ത്തകര്ത്താവേ, നാറ്റം വെച്ചുതുടങ്ങി; നാലുദിവസമായല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

38. Jesus, therefore, again, being indignant within himself, cometh unto the tomb. Now it was a cave, and, a stone, was lying thereon.

39. യേശു അവളോടുവിശ്വസിച്ചാല് നീ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മഹത്വം കാണും എന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

39. Jesus, saith, Take ye away the stone! Martha, the sister of the deceased, saith unto him Lord! by this time, he stinketh, for it is, four days.

40. അവര് കല്ലു നീക്കി. യേശു മേലോട്ടു നോക്കിപിതാവേ, നീ എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടതിനാല് ഞാന് നിന്നെ വാഴ്ത്തുന്നു.

40. Jesus saith unto her Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldst believe, thou shouldst see the glory of God?

41. നീ എപ്പോഴും എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേള്ക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന് അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും നീ എന്നെ അയച്ചു എന്നു ചുറ്റും നിലക്കുന്ന പുരുഷാരം വിശ്വസിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരുടെ നിമിത്തം ഞാന് പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

41. So they took away the stone. And, Jesus, lifted up his eyes on high, and said Father! I thank thee, thou didst hear me:

42. ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവന് ലാസരേ, പുറത്തുവരിക എന്നു ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചു.

42. I, indeed, knew that, always, unto me, thou dost hearken; but, for the sake of the multitude standing around, I spake, that they might believe that, thou, didst send me forth.

43. മരിച്ചവന് പുറത്തുവന്നു; അവന്റെ കാലും കയ്യും ശീലകൊണ്ടു കെട്ടിയും മുഖം റൂമാല്കൊണ്ടു മൂടിയുമിരുന്നു. അവന്റെ കെട്ടു അഴിപ്പിന് ; അവന് പോകട്ടെ എന്നു യേശു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

43. And, these things, having said, with a loud voice, he cried out Lazarus! Come forth!

44. മറിയയുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാരില് പലരും അവന് ചെയ്തതു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവനില് വിശ്വസിച്ചു.

44. He that was dead came forth, bound feet and hands with bandages, and, his face, with a napkin, was bound about. Jesus saith unto them Loose him, and let him go.

45. എന്നാല് ചിലര് പരീശന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് പോയി യേശു ചെയ്തതു അവരോടു അറിയിച്ചു.

45. Many therefore from among the Jews, who had come unto Mary, and gazed on what he did, believed on him

46. മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും പരീശന്മാരും സംഘം കൂടിനാം എന്തു ചെയ്യേണ്ടു? ഈ മനുഷ്യന് വളരെ അടയാളങ്ങള് ചെയ്യുന്നുവല്ലോ.

46. but, certain from among them, went away unto the Pharisees, and told them what Jesus had done.

47. അവനെ ഇങ്ങനെ വിട്ടേച്ചാല് എല്ലാവരും അവനില് വിശ്വസിക്കും; റോമക്കാരും വന്നു നമ്മുടെ സ്ഥലത്തെയും ജനത്തെയും എടുത്തുകളയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

47. The High-priests and Pharisees, therefore, brought together a high-council, and were saying What are we to do, in that, this man, doeth, many signs?

48. അവരില് ഒരുത്തന് , ആ സംവത്സരത്തെ മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ കയ്യഫാവു തന്നേ, അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ഒന്നും അറിയുന്നില്ല;

48. If we let him alone thus, all, will believe on him, and the Romans will come, and take away, both our place and nation.

49. ജനം മുഴുവനും നശിച്ചുപോകാതവണ്ണം ഒരു മനുഷ്യന് ജാതിക്കു വേണ്ടി മരിക്കുന്നതു നന്നു എന്നു ഔര്ക്കുംന്നതുമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

49. But, a certain one from among them, Caiaphas, being, High-priest, for that year, said unto them Ye, know, nothing at all;

50. അവന് ഇതു സ്വയമായി പറഞ്ഞതല്ല, താന് ആ സംവത്സരത്തെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന് ആകയാല് ജനത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി യേശു മരിപ്പാന് ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പ്രവചിച്ചതത്രേ.

50. nor do ye take into account, that it is profitable for you that, one man, should die for the people, and not, the whole nation, perish.

51. ജനത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി മാത്രമല്ല ചിതറിയിരിക്കുന്ന ദൈവമക്കളെ ഒന്നായിട്ടു ചേര്ക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും തന്നേ.

51. This, however, from himself, he spake not, but, being, High-priest, for that year, he prophesied, that Jesus was about to die for the nation;

52. അന്നു മുതല് അവര് അവനെ കൊല്ലുവാന് ആലോചിച്ചു.
ഉല്പത്തി 49:10

52. and, not for the nation only, but that, the scattered children of God also, he might gather together into one.

53. അതുകൊണ്ടു യേശു യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഇടയില് പിന്നെ പരസ്യമായി നടക്കാതെ അവിടം വിട്ടു മരുഭൂമിക്കരികെ എഫ്രയീം എന്ന പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു വാങ്ങി ശിഷ്യന്മാരുമായി അവിടെ പാര്ത്തു.

53. From that day, therefore, they took counsel, that they might put him to death.

54. യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ പെസഹ അടുത്തിരിക്കയാല് പലരും തങ്ങള്ക്കു ശുദ്ധിവരുത്തുവാന് പെസഹെക്കു മുമ്പെ നാട്ടില് നിന്നു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു പോയി.

54. Jesus, therefore, no longer openly, was walking among the Jews, but departed thence, into the country near the desert, unto a city called, Ephraim; and, there, abode, with his disciples.

55. അവര് യേശുവിനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു ദൈവാലയത്തില് നിന്നുകൊണ്ടുഎന്തു തോന്നുന്നു? അവന് പെരുനാള്ക്കു വരികയില്ലയോ എന്നു തമ്മില് പറഞ്ഞു.
2 ദിനവൃത്താന്തം 30:17

55. Now the passover of the Jews was at hand, and many went up unto Jerusalem, out of the country, before the passover, that they might purify themselves.

56. എന്നാല് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും പരീശന്മാരും അവനെ പിടിക്കേണം എന്നു വെച്ചു അവന് ഇരിക്കുന്ന ഇടം ആരെങ്കിലും അറിഞ്ഞാല് അറിവു തരേണമെന്നു കല്പന കൊടുത്തിരുന്നു.

56. They were therefore seeking Jesus, and were saying one to another, in the temple, standing How seemeth it unto you? that he will in nowise come unto the feast?
