1. Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for a Jewish feast.

2. യെരൂശലേമില് ആട്ടുവാതില്ക്കല് ബേഥെസ്ദാ എന്നു എബ്രായപേരുള്ള ഒരു കുളം ഉണ്ടു; അതിന്നു അഞ്ചു മണ്ഡപം ഉണ്ടു.

2. In Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate is a pool. In the Aramaic language it is called Bethesda. It is surrounded by five rows of columns with a roof over them.

3. അവയില് വ്യാധിക്കാര്, കുരുടര്, മുടന്തര്, ക്ഷയരോഗികള് ഇങ്ങനെ വലിയോരു കൂട്ടം (വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ ഇളക്കം കാത്തുകൊണ്ടു) കിടന്നിരുന്നു.

3. Here a great number of disabled people used to lie down. Among them were those who were blind, those who could not walk, and those who could hardly move.

4. (അതതു സമയത്തു ഒരു ദൂതന് കുളത്തില് ഇറങ്ങി വെള്ളം കലക്കും; വെള്ളം കലങ്ങിയ ശേഷം ആദ്യം ഇറങ്ങുന്നവന് ഏതു വ്യാധിപിടിച്ചവനായിരുന്നാലും അവന്നു സൌഖ്യം വരും)

5. എന്നാല് മുപ്പത്തെട്ടു ആണ്ടു രോഗം പിടിച്ചു കിടന്നോരു മനുഷ്യന് അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

5. One person who was there had been disabled for 38 years.

6. അവന് കിടക്കുന്നതു യേശു കണ്ടു, ഇങ്ങനെ ഏറിയ കാലമായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നറിഞ്ഞുനിനക്കു സൌഖ്യമാകുവാന് മനസ്സുണ്ടോ എന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

6. Jesus saw him lying there. He knew that the man had been in that condition for a long time. So he asked him, 'Do you want to get well?'

7. രോഗി അവനോടുയജമാനനേ, വെള്ളം കലങ്ങുമ്പോള് എന്നെ കുളത്തില് ആക്കുവാന് എനിക്കു ആരും ഇല്ല; ഞാന് തന്നേ ചെല്ലുമ്പോള് മറ്റൊരുത്തന് എനിക്കു മുമ്പായി ഇറങ്ങുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

7. Sir,' the disabled man replied, 'I have no one to help me into the pool when an angel stirs the water up. I try to get in, but someone else always goes down ahead of me.'

8. യേശു അവനോടുഎഴുന്നേറ്റു നിന്റെ കിടക്ക എടുത്തു നടക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. Then Jesus said to him, 'Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.'

9. ഉടനെ ആ മനുഷ്യന് സൌഖ്യമായി കിടക്ക എടുത്തു നടന്നു.

9. At once the man was healed. He picked up his mat and walked. The day this happened was a Sabbath.

10. എന്നാല് അന്നു ശബ്ബത്ത് ആയിരുന്നു. ആകയാല് യെഹൂദന്മാര് സൌഖ്യം പ്രാപിച്ചവനോടുഇന്നുശബ്ബത്ത് ആകുന്നു; കിടക്ക എടുക്കുന്നതു വിഹിതമല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. So the Jews said to the man who had been healed, 'It is the Sabbath. The law does not allow you to carry your mat.'

11. അവന് അവരോടുഎന്നെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കിയവന് കിടക്ക എടുത്ത നടക്ക എന്നു എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

11. But he replied, 'The one who made me well said to me, 'Pick up your mat and walk.' '

12. അവര് അവനോടുകിടക്ക എടുത്തു നടക്ക എന്നു നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ മനുഷ്യന് ആര് എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

12. They asked him, 'Who is this fellow? Who told you to pick it up and walk?'

13. എന്നാല് അവിടെ പുരുഷാരം ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കയാല് യേശു മാറിക്കളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് ആരെന്നു സൌഖ്യം പ്രാപിച്ചവന് അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.

13. The one who was healed had no idea who it was. Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there.

14. അനന്തരം യേശു അവനെ ദൈവാലയത്തില്വെച്ചു കണ്ടു അവനോടുനോകൂ, നിനക്കു സൌഖ്യമായല്ലോ; അധികം തിന്മയായതു ഭവിക്കാതിരിപ്പാന് ഇനി പാപം ചെയ്യരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. Later Jesus found him at the temple. Jesus said to him, 'See, you are well again. Stop sinning, or something worse may happen to you.'

15. ആ മനുഷ്യന് പോയി തന്നെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കിയതു യേശു എന്നു യെഹൂദന്മാരോടു അറിയിച്ചു.

15. The man went away. He told the Jews it was Jesus who had made him well.

16. യേശു ശബ്ബത്തില് അതു ചെയ്കകൊണ്ടു യെഹൂദന്മാര് അവനെ ഉപദ്രവിച്ചു.

16. Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath day. So the Jews began to oppose him.

17. യേശു അവരോടുഎന്റെ പിതാവു ഇന്നുവരെയും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു; ഞാനും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

17. Jesus said to them, 'My Father is always doing his work. He is working right up to this very day. I am working too.'

18. അങ്ങനെ അവന് ശബ്ബത്തിനെ ലംഘിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു മാത്രമല്ല, ദൈവം സ്വന്തപിതാവു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തന്നെത്താന് ദൈവത്തോടു സമമാക്കിയതുകൊണ്ടും യെഹൂദന്മാര് അവനെ കൊല്ലുവാന് അധികമായി ശ്രമിച്ചു പോന്നു.

18. For this reason the Jews tried even harder to kill him. Jesus was not only breaking the Sabbath. He was even calling God his own Father. He was making himself equal with God.

19. ആകയാല് യേശു അവരോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതുആമേന് , ആമേന് , ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നുപിതാവു ചെയ്തു കാണുന്നതു അല്ലാതെ പുത്രന്നു സ്വതേ ഒന്നും ചെയ്വാന് കഴികയില്ല; അവന് ചെയ്യുന്നതു എല്ലാം പുത്രനും അവ്വണ്ണം തന്നേ ചെയ്യുന്നു.

19. Jesus answered, 'What I'm about to tell you is true. The Son can do nothing by himself. He can do only what he sees his Father doing. What the Father does, the Son also does.

20. പിതാവു പുത്രനെ സ്നേഹിക്കയും താന് ചെയ്യുന്നതു ഒക്കെയും അവന്നു കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെടുമാറു ഇവയില് വലിയ പ്രവൃത്തികളും അവന്നു കാണിച്ചുകൊടുക്കും.

20. This is because the Father loves the Son. He shows him everything he does. Yes, you will be amazed! The Father will show him even greater things than these.

21. പിതാവു മരിച്ചവരെ ഉണര്ത്തി ജീവിപ്പിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ പുത്രനും താന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നവരെ ജീവിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

21. 'The Father raises the dead and gives them life. In the same way, the Son gives life to anyone he wants to.

22. എല്ലാവരും പിതാവിനെ ബഹുമാനിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ പുത്രനെയും ബഹുമാനിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു പിതാവു ആരെയും ന്യായം വിധിക്കാതെ ന്യായവിധി എല്ലാം പുത്രന്നുകൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

22. 'Also, the Father does not judge anyone. He has given the Son the task of judging.

23. പുത്രനെ ബഹുമാനിക്കാത്തവന് അവനെ അയച്ച പിതാവിനെയും ബഹുമാനിക്കുന്നില്ല.

23. Then all people will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Those who do not honor the Son do not honor the Father, who sent him.

24. ആമേന് , ആമേന് , ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നുഎന്റെ വചനം കേട്ടു എന്നെ അയച്ചവനെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന്നു നിത്യജീവന് ഉണ്ടു; അവന് ന്യായവിധിയില് ആകാതെ മരണത്തില് നിന്നു ജീവങ്കലേക്കു കടന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

24. 'What I'm about to tell you is true. Anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He will not be found guilty. He has crossed over from death to life.

25. ആമേന് , ആമേന് , ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നുമരിച്ചവര് ദൈവപുത്രന്റെ ശബ്ദം കേള്ക്കയും കേള്ക്കുന്നവര് ജീവിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്ന നാഴികവരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോള് വന്നുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

25. 'What I'm about to tell you is true. A time is coming for me to give life. In fact, it has already begun. The dead will hear the voice of the Son of God. Those who hear it will live.

26. പിതാവിന്നു തന്നില്തന്നേ ജീവനുള്ളതുപോലെ അവന് പുത്രന്നും തന്നില്തന്നേ ജീവനുള്ളവന് ആകുമാറു വരം നല്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. 'The Father has life in himself. He has also allowed the Son to have life in himself.

27. അവന് മനുഷ്യപുത്രന് ആകയാല് ന്യായവിധിനടത്തുവാന് അവന്നു അധികാരവും നല്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

27. And the Father has given him the authority to judge. This is because he is the Son of Man.

28. ഇതിങ്കല് ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെടരുതു; കല്ലറകളില് ഉള്ളവര് എല്ലാവരും അവന്റെ ശബ്ദം കേട്ടു, നന്മ ചെയ്തവര് ജീവന്നായും തിന്മ ചെയ്തവര് ന്യായവിധിക്കായും പുനരുത്ഥാനം ചെയ്വാനുള്ള നാഴിക വരുന്നു.

28. 'Do not be amazed at this. A time is coming when all who are in the grave will hear his voice.

29. എനിക്കു സ്വതേ ഒന്നും ചെയ്വാന് കഴിയുന്നതല്ല; ഞാന് കേള്ക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ന്യായം വിധിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് എന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം അല്ല, എന്നെ അയച്ചവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടമത്രേ ചെയ്വാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ വിധി നീതിയുള്ളതു ആകുന്നു.

29. They will all come out of their graves. Those who have done good will rise and live again. Those who have done evil will rise and be found guilty.

30. ഞാന് എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു തന്നേ സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞാല് എന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യം സത്യമല്ല.

30. 'I can do nothing by myself. I judge only as I hear. And my judging is fair. I do not try to please myself. I try only to please the One who sent me.

31. എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്നതു മറ്റൊരുത്തന് ആകുന്നു; അവന് എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു പറയുന്ന സാക്ഷ്യം സത്യം എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു.

31. If I give witness about myself, it doesn't count.

32. നിങ്ങള് യോഹാന്നാന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചു; അവന് സത്യത്തിന്നു സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

32. There is someone else who gives witness in my favor. And I know that his witness about me counts.

33. എനിക്കോ മനുഷ്യന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യംകൊണ്ടു ആവശ്യമില്ല; നിങ്ങള് രക്ഷിക്കപ്പെടുവാനത്രേ ഇതു പറയുന്നതു.

33. 'You have sent people to John. He has given witness to the truth.

34. അവന് ജ്വലിച്ചു പ്രകാശിക്കുന്ന വിളകൂ ആയിരുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് അല്പസമയത്തേക്കു അവന്റെ വെളിച്ചത്തില് ഉല്ലസിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിച്ചു.

34. I do not accept human witness. I only talk about it so you can be saved.

35. എനിക്കോ യോഹന്നാന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യത്തിലും വലിയ സാക്ഷ്യം ഉണ്ടു; പിതാവു എനിക്കു അനുഷ്ഠിപ്പാന് തന്നിരിക്കുന്ന പ്രവൃത്തികള്, ഞാന് ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രവൃത്തികള് തന്നേ, പിതാവു എന്നെ അയച്ചു എന്നു എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു സാക്ഷീകരിക്കുന്നു.

35. John was like a lamp that burned and gave light. For a while you chose to enjoy his light.

36. എന്നെ അയച്ച പിതാവുതാനും എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങള് അവന്റെ ശബ്ദം ഒരുനാളും കേട്ടിട്ടില്ല, അവന്റെ രൂപം കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല;

36. 'The witness I have is more important than John's. I am doing the very work the Father gave me to finish. It gives witness that the Father has sent me.

37. അവന്റെ വചനം നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉള്ളില് വസിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല അവന് അയച്ചവനെ നിങ്ങള് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നില്ലല്ലോ.

37. 'The Father who sent me has himself given witness about me. You have never heard his voice. You have never seen what he really looks like.

38. നിങ്ങള് തിരുവെഴുത്തുകളെ ശോധനചെയ്യുന്നു; അവയില് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു നിത്യജീവന് ഉണ്ടു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് നിരൂപിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; അവ എനിക്കു സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുന്നു.

38. And his word does not live in you. This is because you do not believe the One he sent.

39. എങ്കിലും ജീവന് പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരുവാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു മനസ്സില്ല.

39. 'You study the Scriptures carefully. You study them because you think they will give you eternal life. The Scriptures you study give witness about me.

40. ഞാന് മനുഷ്യരോടു ബഹുമാനം വാങ്ങുന്നില്ല.

40. But you refuse to come to me and receive life.

41. എന്നാല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ഉള്ളില് ദൈവസ്നേഹം ഇല്ല എന്നു ഞാന് അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

41. 'I do not accept praise from people.

42. ഞാന് എന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെ നാമത്തില് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്നെ നിങ്ങള് കൈക്കൊള്ളുന്നില്ല; മറ്റൊരുത്തന് സ്വന്തനാമത്തില് വന്നാല് അവനെ നിങ്ങള് കൈക്കൊള്ളും.

42. But I know you. I know that you do not have love for God in your hearts.

43. തമ്മില് തമ്മില് ബഹുമാനം വാങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ടു ഏകദൈവത്തിന്റെ പക്കല് നിന്നുള്ള ബഹുമാനം അന്വേഷിക്കാത്ത നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എങ്ങനെ വിശ്വസിപ്പാന് കഴിയും?

43. I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me. But if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him.

44. ഞാന് പിതാവിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിങ്ങളെ കുറ്റം ചുമത്തും എന്നു നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തോന്നരുതു. നിങ്ങളെ കുറ്റം ചുമത്തുന്നവന് ഉണ്ടു; നിങ്ങള് പ്രത്യാശ വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന മോശെ തന്നേ.

44. You accept praise from one another. But you make no effort to receive the praise that comes from the only God. So how can you believe?

45. നിങ്ങള് മോശെയെ വിശ്വസിച്ചു എങ്കില് എന്നെയും വിശ്വസിക്കുമായിരുന്നു; അവന് എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

45. 'Do not think I will bring charges against you in front of the Father. Moses is the one who does that. And he is the one you build your hopes on.
