1. ഒരിക്കല് പത്രൊസും യോഹന്നാനും ഒമ്പതാം മണിനേരം പ്രാര്ത്ഥനാസമയത്തു ദൈവാലയത്തിലേകു ചെല്ലുമ്പോള്

1. NOW PETER and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour (three o'clock in the afternoon),

2. അമ്മയുടെ ഗര്ഭം മുതല് മുടന്തനായ ഒരാളെ ചിലര് ചുമന്നു കൊണ്ടു വന്നു; അവനെ ദൈവാലയത്തില് ചെല്ലുന്നവരോടു ഭിക്ഷ യാചിപ്പാന് സുന്ദരം എന്ന ദൈവാലയഗോപുരത്തിങ്കല് ദിനംപ്രതി ഇരുത്തുമാറുണ്ടു.

2. [When] a certain man crippled from his birth was being carried along, who was laid each day at that gate of the temple [which is] called Beautiful, so that he might beg for charitable gifts from those who entered the temple.

3. അവന് പത്രൊസും യോഹന്നാനും ദൈവാലയത്തില് കടപ്പാന് പോകുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു ഭിക്ഷ ചോദിച്ചു.

3. So when he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked them to give him a gift.

4. പത്രൊസ് യോഹന്നാനോടുകൂടെ അവനെ ഉറ്റുനോക്കിഞങ്ങളെ നോകൂ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And Peter directed his gaze intently at him, and so did John, and said, Look at us!

5. അവന് വല്ലതും കിട്ടും എന്നു കരുതി അവരെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചു നോക്കി.

5. And [the man] paid attention to them, expecting that he was going to get something from them.

6. അപ്പോള് പത്രൊസ്വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും എനിക്കില്ല; എനിക്കുള്ളതു നിനക്കു തരുന്നുനസറായനായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ നാമത്തില് നടക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു

6. But Peter said, Silver and gold (money) I do not have; but what I do have, that I give to you: in [the use of] the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk!

7. അവനെ വലങ്കൈകൂ പിടിച്ചു എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചു; ക്ഷണത്തില് അവന്റെ കാലും നരിയാണിയും ഉറെച്ചു അവന് കുതിച്ചെഴുന്നേറ്റു നടന്നു;

7. Then he took hold of the man's right hand with a firm grip and raised him up. And at once his feet and ankle bones became strong and steady,

8. നടന്നും തുള്ളിയും ദൈവത്തെ പുകഴ്ത്തിയും കൊണ്ടു അവരോടുകൂടെ ദൈവാലയത്തില് കടന്നു.

8. And leaping forth he stood and began to walk, and he went into the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.

9. അവന് നടക്കുന്നതും ദൈവത്ത പുകഴ്ത്തുന്നതും ജനം ഒക്കെയും കണ്ടു,

9. And all the people saw him walking about and praising God,

10. ഇവന് സുന്ദരം എന്ന ദൈവാലയഗോപുരത്തിങ്കല് ഭിക്ഷ യാചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ഇരുന്നവന് എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞു അവന്നു സംഭവിച്ചതിനെകുറിച്ചു വിസ്മയവും പരിഭ്രമവും നിറഞ്ഞവരായീതീര്ന്നു.

10. And they recognized him as the man who usually sat [begging] for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement (bewilderment, consternation) over what had occurred to him.

11. അവന് പത്രൊസിനോടും യോഹന്നാനോടും ചേര്ന്നു നിലക്കുമ്പോള് ജനം എല്ലാം വിസ്മയംപൂണ്ടു ശലോമോന്റേതു എന്നു പേരുള്ള മണ്ഡപത്തില് അവരുടെ അടുക്കല് ഔടിക്കൂടി.

11. Now while he [still] firmly clung to Peter and John, all the people in utmost amazement ran together and crowded around them in the covered porch (walk) called Solomon's.

12. അതു കണ്ടിട്ടു പത്രൊസ് ജനങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞതുയിസ്രായേല് പുരുഷന്മാരേ, ഇതിങ്കല് ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെടുന്നത് എന്തു? ഞങ്ങളുടെ സ്വന്ത ശക്തികൊണ്ടോ ഭക്തികൊണ്ടോ ഇവനെ നടക്കുമാറാക്കി എന്നപോലെ ഞങ്ങളെ ഉറ്റു നോക്കുന്നതും എന്തു?

12. And Peter, seeing it, answered the people, You men of Israel, why are you so surprised and wondering at this? Why do you keep staring at us, as though by our [own individual] power or [active] piety we had made this man [able] to walk?

13. അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെയും യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെയും യാക്കോബിന്റെയും ദൈവമായ നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവം തന്റെ ദാസനായ യേശുവിനെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തി; അവനെ നിങ്ങള് ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കയും അവനെ വിട്ടയപ്പാന് വിധിച്ച പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ മുമ്പില്വെച്ചു തള്ളിപ്പറയുകയും ചെയ്തു.

13. The God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our forefathers, has glorified His Servant and Son Jesus [doing Him this honor], Whom you indeed delivered up and denied and rejected and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had determined to let Him go. [Exod. 3:6; Isa. 52:13.]

14. But you denied and rejected and disowned the Pure and Holy, the Just and Blameless One, and demanded [the pardon of] a murderer to be granted to you.

15. അവനെ ദൈവം മരിച്ചവരില്നിന്നു, എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചു; അതിന്നു ഞങ്ങള് സാക്ഷികള് ആകുന്നു.

15. But you killed the very Source (the Author) of life, Whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.

16. അവന്റെ നാമത്തിലെ വിശ്വാസത്താല് അവന്റെ നാമം തന്നേ നിങ്ങള് കാണ്കയും അറികയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ഇവന് ബലം പ്രാപിപ്പാന് കാരണമായി തീര്ന്നു; അവന് മുഖാന്തരമുള്ള വിശ്വാസം ഇന്നു നിങ്ങള് എല്ലാവരും കാണ്കെ ഈ ആരോഗ്യം വരുവാന് ഹേതുവായി തീര്ന്നു.

16. And His name, through and by faith in His name, has made this man whom you see and recognize well and strong. [Yes] the faith which is through and by Him [Jesus] has given the man this perfect soundness [of body] before all of you.

17. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രമാണികളെപ്പോലെ നിങ്ങളും അറിയായ്മകൊണ്ടു പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു എന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു.

17. And now, brethren, I know that you acted in ignorance [not aware of what you were doing], as did your rulers also.

18. ദൈവമോ തന്റെ ക്രിസ്തു കഷ്ടം അനുഭവിക്കും എന്നു സകല പ്രവാചകന്മാരും മുഖാന്തരം മുന്നറിയിച്ചതു ഇങ്ങനെ നിവര്ത്തിച്ചു.

18. Thus has God fulfilled what He foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that His Christ (the Messiah) should undergo ill treatment and be afflicted and suffer.

19. ആകയാല് നിങ്ങളുടെ പാപങ്ങള് മാഞ്ഞുകിട്ടേണ്ടതിന്നു മാനസാന്തരപ്പെട്ടു തിരിഞ്ഞുകൊള്വിന് ; എന്നാല് കര്ത്താവിന്റെ സമ്മുഖത്തുനിന്നു

19. So repent (change your mind and purpose); turn around and return [to God], that your sins may be erased (blotted out, wiped clean), that times of refreshing (of recovering from the effects of heat, of reviving with fresh air) may come from the presence of the Lord;

20. ആശ്വാസകാലങ്ങള് വരികയും നിങ്ങള്ക്കു മുന് നിയമിക്കപ്പെട്ട ക്രിസ്തുവായ യേശുവിനെ അവന് അയക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

20. And that He may send [to you] the Christ (the Messiah), Who before was designated and appointed for you--even Jesus,

21. ദൈവം ലോകാരംഭം മുതല് തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധപ്രവാചകന്മാര് മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിചെയ്തതു ഒക്കെയും യഥാസ്ഥാനത്താകുന്ന കാലം വരുവോളം സ്വര്ഗ്ഗം അവനെ കൈക്കൊള്ളേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

21. Whom heaven must receive [and retain] until the time for the complete restoration of all that God spoke by the mouth of all His holy prophets for ages past [from the most ancient time in the memory of man].

22. “ദൈവമായ കര്ത്താവു നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരില്നിന്നു എന്നെപ്പോലെ ഒരു പ്രവാചകനെ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചുതരും; അവന് നിങ്ങളോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന സകലത്തിലും നിങ്ങള് അവന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കേണം.”

22. Thus Moses said to the forefathers, The Lord God will raise up for you a Prophet from among your brethren as [He raised up] me; Him you shall listen to and understand by hearing and heed in all things whatever He tells you.

23. ആ പ്രവാചകന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്കാത്ത ഏവനും ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയില് നിന്നു ഛേദിക്കപ്പെടും.” എന്നു മോശെ പറഞ്ഞു വല്ലോ.

23. And it shall be that every soul that does not listen to and understand by hearing and heed that Prophet shall be utterly exterminated from among the people. [Deut. 18:15-19.]

24. അത്രയുമല്ല ശമൂവേല് ആദിയായി സംസാരിച്ച പ്രവാചകന്മാര് ഒക്കെയും ഈ കാലത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു.

24. Indeed, all the prophets from Samuel and those who came afterwards, as many as have spoken, also promised and foretold and proclaimed these days.

25. “ഭൂമിയിലെ സകലവംശങ്ങളും നിന്റെ സന്തതിയില് അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടും.” എന്നു ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു അരുളി നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു ചെയ്ത നിയമത്തിന്റെയും പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെയും മക്കള് നിങ്ങള് തന്നേ.

25. You are the descendants (sons) of the prophets and the heirs of the covenant which God made and gave to your forefathers, saying to Abraham, And in your Seed (Heir) shall all the families of the earth be blessed and benefited. [Gen. 22:18; Gal. 3:16.]

26. നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ആദ്യമേ ദൈവം തന്റെ ദാസനായ യേശുവിനെ എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചു ഔരോരുത്തനെ അവനവന്റെ അകൃത്യങ്ങളില് നിന്നു തിരിക്കുന്നതിനാല് നിങ്ങളെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. It was to you first that God sent His Servant and Son Jesus, when He raised Him up [provided and gave Him for us], to bless you in turning every one of you from your wickedness and evil ways. [Acts 2:24; 3:22.]
